I have been fustrated a few times but the DNS issue is a good idea. A part from the fact that the redundancy enables you to react quickly to server problems b y switching to backups.

I recently tried to view one of our .com sites in a clients office and it failed to come up, but I was able to view all the .com.ng site and all the other sites on a redundant DNS setup.

I have since moved all our site to the redundant system recommended - .com.ng or not.

But I feel your pain.

Many Nigerian Hotels are now trying to improve their image and service but are still fustrated by the lack of good power supply etc. There is now a programme to catalogue the hotels, motels and guest houses in Nigeria starting with Lagos, Abuja and Port harcourt. Before anyone ask - no you cant book online or pay by credit card. You can send an email to to hotels or call them for reservations. Online booking systems become difficult when hotels are not constantly online. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT WHEN BOOKING A HOTEL IN NIGERIA, YOU ALSO CALL AFTER ANY ONLINE BOOKING.

Try http://www.ip4properties.com - be very careful about agents etc and get a good lawyer who will do all the necessary searches!

Congratulation on getting your first job. I think it is a matter of approach.

You have to be able to advise your client on many different levels on issues to do with his website. A lot more work needs to be done on structuring content before a line of code is written. For examples at first glance I will not know what 'LDI' 'LDO' etc are. You could group these into seminars or 'programmes'.

The client has to remember or be reminded about the audience for the site.

Websites are a bit 'horses for courses' and I think you have got it wrong here. Your topic is about development and professionalism - so you have to define the audience. They will be very different from the MTV audience. They are busy professional that what information quickly! You need to deliver that information.

-> Select your particular industry and add Nigeria to it - be country specific
-> Use text where you can instead of graphics/ if you use graphics add an alt tag explaining the image
-> Do not use a flash intro page!
-> Submit site to search engines
-> Check your ranking now and then - not religiously!

I am not sure what the criteria is for the top hosting company. The best thing to do is to talk to current customers and find out what they think. We offer basic web hosting services but if you are looking for video streaming then it is best to look elsewhere. We also do not have servers in Nigeria. If this is particularly important to you (not sure why it should be) then again we are not the team for you.
