I think it's too much considering the balance.

Might need to revise your itinerary and rebudget to reduce this. Could you share how you initially arrived at c$10k? When you say a family of 4, are they all adults? 2 adults, 2 children?

This further affects your budget and the activities in your itinerary.

The sweet spot will be to use < half of total savings (₦6m) to demonstrate financial capabilities IMO.

I'm trying that at the moment. Checking periodically to see if earlier dates could pop up.
👍

My employer can email the Consul General, because they recently told me they're doing their best on their end. I'm applying via the Abuja vfs center though.
That's great. I think this will help.

Can you confirm if this email: visas.abuja-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr is that of the Abuja Consul General?
Not sure. Searched and saw: amb.abuja-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr

You can try both.

Regarding travel health insurance, vfs told me it isn't necessary and only requirements that were mentioned on the French visa application site are mandatory.
Up to you!

An ID photograph is required for the talent visa. Can one use the national ID card for this requirement?
Sounds Ok to me. Any national issued ID should work including National ID, Drivers License etc.

And lastly, can one book for appointment and lounge separately?
Yes. If you don't book them together online, that's OK. On the day of your appointment, you can choose to use the premium lounge and pay for that. Note they don't accept cash or transfer!
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Newbiein2016: 3:41pm On Jul 11, 2023
Generally the visa processing time is about 14 working days but because France has a fast turnaround time, I can see why you are asking.

The summer rush might be contributing to this timeline but until you get your passport and confirm, I'm afraid there's no other way to predict.

Thanks @Newbiein2016 for your response and those quotes. I have another question. I'm looking to schedule an early appointment within this month because my employer wants me to join immediately, and I see that most of the available dates in Abuja are in late August. Is there a way, I can schedule an early appointment? Any time of the day vfs release early dates?
Unfortunately, my experience has been that one needs to keep searching to see if closer dates open up. Given the closeness of your start date, can your employer write directly to the office of the Consul General for this? This is the only other way to expedite the visa process.

They'll need to get a more direct email if possible as the one shared on these threads (visas.lagos-fslt@diplomatie.gouv.fr) might not reach the intended target.

Or is it possible for one to schedule a date, then reschedule to an earlier date? If so, is there a cost for the rescheduling and how much?

If I rem correctly, one could reschedule a max of 1 time before you have to pay a new fee but this applies for future dates only i.e. you can't reschedule for an earlier date.

Madame take it easy. This is generally what it looks like. I was asking him to check and see if this status changed after they sent the withdrawal letter.

Why not wait as advised for 2 days and check the tracking portal for the visa details? This will give you peace of mind.

Honestly, what we share here is based on opinions and what worked for us in our successful applications, so we are unable to conclusively provide you with responses to ease your anxiety over this.

SweetJJ:
Was this the case you talked about that they later sent withdrawal letter? How was is supposed to read please? Do you have a screenshot of how it is supposed to read?

As I shared earlier, don't panic. The 2 cases might not be related.

Send an email, they need to 'release' your IRCC number and yes, in my case I had to use another number to reschedule.

Ajalalomo:
You mean I should change the phone number I used to schedule the initial appointment?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 9:29am On Jul 11, 2023
You won't see visa details in the IRCC Portal.

What does it say under "Application Status"?

There's currently no other way to reach them here except via email, so send to Lagos and even Nairobi.

Lanrebobokay:
hmmmm No visa details in both tracker and IRCC portal i have sent webform and series of emails to Abuja but no response from them.
let me try and send to Lagos may be something would come up from them. funniest thing is that the application was done in 2020.

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 9:22am On Jul 11, 2023
Also I think some of the automated messages from VFS are poorly written and lack clarity.

Can you track it on their portal and see if it says the same thing: https://www.vfsglobal.ca/IRCC-GPTWave1/Track/Index?q=shSA0YnE4pLF9Xzwon/x/CQ1P0LBKn66dLdNUfueK+yzShCR5+RPxbigEFl/W14/B2caAAJ+pjEGG2r7ohd6rA==

I'm not a visa officer and just sharing my opinion for his particular case where a letter was sent withdrawing his PPR (PPR 26th June, Withdrawal letter 7th July). Given you haven't received same, Don't Panic!

Was this a visit visa application?

Yours is the third case where PPR letter was sent without visa number that I've seen in recent times and while this is a miniscule sample size to make any conclusions, I'm leaning towards a case of human error. Maybe the PPR is valid and your profile just hasn't been updated.

Remember before the tracker was launched this year, things were being done the old way so don't be alarmed and send your passport for stamping.

SweetJJ:
Wow! I am so scared right now. My mom got PPR yesterday but no visa details on tracker yet. Infact last updated was July 3. Do you mean the PPR was sent in errorhuh
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 7:21am On Jul 11, 2023
Can you firstly check: https://ircc-tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en to see if you have visa details

Also, can you check the IRCC Portal where you submitted the application to see if the visa approved status has changed?

If there isn't any visa number on the IRCC tracking portal, maybe the PPR letter might have sent erroneously and your application is still being reviewed.

In this case and because you've paid for tickets, maybe send webforms and emails to Lagos and Abuja with subject starting with URGENT. They review these and if deemed urgent by them, respond between 24 - 48hours.

Goodluck!

Lanrebobokay:
Please advice on which means to write directly to the embassy? my own case does not even have a head ..... lollll

Hello and Congrats!

I'm not familiar with the process but did a quick check here and saw these two users below - I'd say to go through their posts for tips and any guidance. For:

1. Health insurance - you can book online and print. There are a lot of companies (AXA mansard, AIICO etc.) offering this, so just pick one.

2. You don't need a confirmed flight ticket yet. An itinerary should suffice - you can book on hold with AF/KLM, or even from wakanow.com

For other questions,I'll just allow you to check the quoted users.

theHanafis:
Hi Guys!

I recently got a job in France and I'm applying for the French passeport talent visa. My host, the company will cover all cost (accommodation + cash on arrival + flight ticket + reimbursement of visa processing cost). I'm aware that I'm to provide travel document (passport), ID photograph, contract agreement from the host, and highest degree certificate as requested from the visa application site.

Do I need to ask my employer to book the flight before my appointment date in order to show travel itinerary?, and ask them for the paid 1-month accommodation?

Also, what other documents do I need? travel health insurance? if yes, can I apply for it online, make payment and printout a slip as evidence for the insurance?

Anyone with experience regarding passeport talent application?

I would be glad if someone could find time to provide me with some answers to my questions.
davide470:
Are you applying for a Passeport Talent Researcher?

- You will need a travel insurance till you register for Ameli (French healthcare). 3 months duration should be okay.
- Hotel/Hostel/Rental agreement is needed or your host can provide an Attestation d'hébergement (Accommodation Certificate)
- If you feel the need to attach a police report, go ahead.
abduloau:
This is an update regarding my long stay visa (Passeport Talent Researcher) application at the VFS centre in Lagos
I applied on the 23rd December, 2021 and my VISA was issued on the 5th of January, 2022.
Below are the documents I submitted:
1. International passport
2. Two copies of data page of my international passport (black and white). I saw so many people making coloured copies of the data page and I really don't know why.
3. Two copies of the online visa application form (blank and white). Try to avoid those agents beside the VFS building. They will mislead you just to make money. The guy convinced me to print the first and last page of the application form coloured (500 each). Upon entry, the lady that attended to make asked me to make a photocopy of the application form. I had an extra copy with me so I gave her the black and white copy.
4. The original copy of work contract agreement sent from France
5. My degree certificates; bachelors, MSc and PhD.
6. Covid-19 vaccination status
7. Axamansard travel insurance (Three months as advised here). I emailed VFS prior to buying the insurance policy as to the minimum duration required for the travel insurance. They responded that it is discretionary. I can buy any month I like.
8. Two coloured passport photo with a white background. I actually paid and took the picture at the VFS centre. I tried to avoid stories that passport does not meet the requirement.

What I did not submit
1. Travel history. One of the agents beside the VFS building told me to make coloured copies of my travel history but I refused because of the cost implications. Although I had black and white copies, the lady returned it back to me.
2. Flight reservation. The consulate called me twice. I missed the first call on the 2nd of January and they called back on the 5th to ask when I was travelling.
3. Police report.
4. Letter of introduction.
5. Hotel reservation.
6. Bank statement

My advise is to follow the instructions on the printed online application form for the documents required and try to avoid those agents beside the VFS building.
I wish you all the best of luck in your visa applications.

This has been posted soo many times here. Let's try to scroll before asking the same questions. I just scrolled and saw it:

Passport delivery procedure
Pay 18,710 to Canada Logistics Collection Account (0065165839) Sterling Bank. Forward the proof of payment to canadang@vfshelpline.com

If you already have a tracking ID, use that as reference or just use your name.

oyn:
Seems VFS has reviewed the 1 way postage back to the original 18k. (the website says updated on July 10th, but still no option for pick up.
How will an applicant send evidence of payment for the postage? What reference will be used while paying: name or tracking ID?

Thanks

The duration varies and from others timelines, you are still within the 2 - 3 weeks it used to take (note that some have also confirmed it's been faster recently).

Whilst I hear people complaining about the chat team, you can try to reach them for further details or even write to embassy directly if you have an urgent trip planned.

Doubt anyone here can help further as the status is updated based on the movement of your passport.

I sent via webform and see response below:

Do not reply to this message / Ne pas répondre à ce message

Your enquiry has been received by the Nairobi visa office. We respond to all enquiries within 28 days. Enquiries marked as urgent by the sender and deemed urgent after review will receive a response within 24 to 48 hours. If you have submitted new information, we will update your file without replying to confirm.

If you have an open application, please submit your enquiry related to your application via our website’s (https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=Nairobi) inquiry form, by selecting your program as the application type. This will allow your enquiry to be triaged to the office responsible for processing your application who are best placed to review your enquiry and provide you with a timely response.

For temporary resident applications, we do not accept documents sent by email if you have applied online. The email and the document sent will not be added to your application for consideration when assessing your application:

- Unsolicited document submission: all relevant documents must have been submitted at the time of your application.
- Requested document submission (online): please submit the requested document via your MyGCKey account by following the instructions noted in the request letter.

Some people say unsolicited submissions are helpful in the visa processing so if it helps your peace of mind, go ahead.

IMO, since background and eligibility checks are also carried out, I reckon they'll confirm this during their due process.

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
There's no foul play.

Did you make this payment yourself?
Do you have proof including bank statements to attest to this debit? If yes, this is a clear cut case (with the error coming from them) so just send emails/webform for reconsideration with all your supporting documents.

PS: Double check to ensure the full amount was debited. I have seen a case were only c$10 was debited instead of c$235. If not resolved, could have easily resulted in a debt to the crown situation.

If this was through an agent and you haven't visited Canada before & incurred other costs, the most likely reason is chargeback (either from use of fraudulent card or initiated directly by the agent/card owner)

Given you have an email address in your letter, it is important to contact (and chase) the relevant government agency in Canada to understand the details of the debt and the steps required to resolve it. You should get a response faster than going the gcms route in my opinion as that takes about 30days.

In parallel, you can also write in for reconsideration with all proof showing no wrong doing on your part (bank statements from you showing NGN payment, bank statement from agent showing CAD payment). Also include CBN article restricting payments to <$50 for the last few years which prompted the use of alternate channels for payment.

My take is, it doesn't hurt to do this as you already know that the worst outcome will be you needing to reapply if they decide the decision is final.

Chanbaby:
I think there is foul play with Canadaian application payment.
A lady just had same issue and she paid the application fee by herself. Never received any refund or cashback but there was a debt claim on her profile.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
If you go through this thread, you'll see that this has been discussed before and someone even shared a good suggestion above.

For CAN+, there is no POF section so most people who include this to demonstrate strong ties attach the financial docs to the closest related option e.g. Upload this as additional doc, or merge POF with cover letter if that makes the most sense to you.

tunjilana:
Thanks for the response.

Did you provide any POF, if yes, did you upload it as additional document, considering that there is no item for that in the list of documents

[Qquote author=Newbiein2016 post=124273230]Do you have the UCI and application number? Do check online if it's possible to change email address. I saw somewhere a while ago where someone did this through webform.

Ask the agent for a copy of the completed form and use this to request a change in email address.

If it's possible since you've not done biometrics, withdraw this application and do it yourself. Judging by the flippant response stating your wrong date of birth is not an issue (which it is, if not addressed), I wonder if there are no other gaps in your application.

I'm very wary of agents and it has exacerbated because of the multiple complaints I've seen on this and other travel threads, so my advise might be on the extreme end of the spectrum

I think it matters and if you don't want to cancel/withdraw this application, you need to send a notice of this mistake & attach your birth certificate showing the correct details.

Not sure if it will make a difference as the webform autoresponse states they won't look at documents not submitted with the application but I recall someone on here stating their submission via webform was taken into consideration so might be worth the risk. Up to you!

Additionally, get your login details from the agent (if you don't have it) and download the form that was submitted on your behalf. Go through it carefully to ensure there are no mistakes or wrong information in those to avoid further issues.

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 2:20am On Jul 06, 2023
Sounds like a case of chargeback due to the card used to make the visa fee payment.

Did you go through an agent? How was payment of the visa fee done?

If you used an agent or someone else to make payment and have clear documentation on this i.e. emails, chats asking for payment to be made and showing you paying the naira equivalent, I'll suggest maybe including in your webform/email back to them. Due to restrictions in forex amount one can spend by a lot of Nigerian banks in the last few years, a lot of people struggled with making this payment themselves and used agents or friends for this. Downside is one can't be certain if the cards used were not fraudulent or if the people themselves are honest (and not the ones requesting a charge back for this expense).

Goodluck.

Good day Everyone, my husband and I applied for a tourist visa in March 2020 and June 2023 we received a message to send our passport which we did . Only to get a message yesterday stating that our visa has been denied because there is a devt claim on our application more like our application fee was revoked. We didn't do anything of such . I have mailed the debt claim department asking how that is possible. Has anyone experienced that? How do you solve it.
I will equally like to appeal the decision ( propably repay the fee if they still insist because our passport is already with them.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
FYI - OTAs like wakanow provide these cheaper fares by passing on a % of the discounts they get from the airlines to their customers. This allows them retain customers (who are primarily price driven) and thus helps then retain these airline discounts.

Now these discounts from my experience are usually under 20k naira and UNLESS you are certain of your travel dates i.e. no date changes etc, I will always advise booking directly with the airline to provide you with additional protection irrespective of ticket rules.

I've had to change tickets recently and the ticket I bought through wakanow (and saved 18k in March) ended up costing an additional 550k to change due to work pressure I couldn't get out of.

If I had bought that directly through the airline,I would've just asked for a voucher refund (Qatar offers this for non-refundable tickets and gives you an additional 10% value) and gotten a ticket that was 300k saving me money, heartache and unnecessary chasing of customer service folks.

Doesn't make sense.

Use boarding passes and pictures for Dubai with clear explanation if this was a case of a missing expired passport (and no copies of visa are available). Also ticket stubs from activities, train etc. could be included.

In the US case, include a printout of your entry and exits from https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home if you travelled with the visa.

Yes, but the onus will be on them to prove strong home ties and that they are not a flight risk.

I've heard people say that sponsoring adults from Nigeria is quite hard so my 2 cents is they'll need to do a lot of work and provide ample supporting documents to prove they'll return home.

Go through the thread and you'll see what others did and how to put together a strong application.

Walking tour & open bus tour sounds too much. I read a post where someone was denied because the tours in the cover letter were not open for winter.

Double check to ensure your itinerary is feasible for the period of visit. So many websites have sample winter itineraries you can model after.
