TravelRe: My Flight Has A Stopover At Dublin, Do I Need A Transit Visa? by Newbiein2016: 8:13pm On Jul 18, 2023
Call Turkish to confirm. I've heard that a transit visa is required for Dublin.

elloso:
Hello fam.
I will be traveling to the UK soon (Scotland precisely) and I intend to book a flight (Turkish Airline) that has a stopover at Istanbul and Dublin.
Do I need a transit visa to go through Dublin?

Please I really need your reply 🙏

If you are submitting yourself, no need to fill this part.

Yes her brp is expiring next year . Okay will do that thanks.

I’m applying for everyone one as a family. That means she will do her biometrics in Uk right ? Yes
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 8:53am On Jul 15, 2023
Order for GCMS notes.

olaremy2k:
Does anyone know what this means. I applied in May 2023 and I check on Ircc just now and found this. I never sent a withdrawal letter so I am confused why it was withdrawn. I checked email and no mail from them. Please is there anyone with an explanation and advice?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
The visa application process can be harrowing. Good thing it ended well for your family.

SweetJJ:
It's just very annoying. Last year my husband and kids visitor visas was refused because of this significant ties in canada and we then apply for open work permit, and reapply for visitor visa for the kids. Less than 3 months later their application was approved.

Do they now mean that with work permit, he no longer has a significant ties in Canada? So annoying
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 12:15am On Jul 15, 2023
VFS will share this in the e- ICR they send upon receipt of your documents.

As shared before, follow up with them for this as I have seen a comment claiming that VFS priortizes physical submission hence why acknowledgement of courier submitted documents experience delays. There might be merit in this claim based on feedback seen here.

SweetJJ:
Thanks. What is the tracking ID number? Is it the same from DHL? If it us the one from DHL, it's saying no records found.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 12:11am On Jul 15, 2023
That's ample time and the passport should be back before then given no unforeseen changes

SweetJJ:
Ok. I should just wait for a while. I submitted this week. I want to book flight for September, so I want to be sure it will be back before then. Thanks for your response.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
I don't understand the latter part of the question.

If she's applying from the UK, a few things to guide her:

1. How much time does she have on her study permit? If she has 3months left for example, this might cause IRCC to think she plans to settle in Canada through her visit visa.

She needs to apply with ample time left on her BRP

2. If she has any kind of work including part-time, she should include the contract or agreement for this, any proof of payment as well as her bank account.

3. Where does she live? She can attach a letter from her landlord confirming consistent payment of rent or tenancy agreement ( if it will expire well after her return from Canada). Utility bills too!

4. She should show connections with her school by including a stamped letter of introduction, transcript showing commitment to achieving good grades, school fees receipt etc.

5. As she is in the UK, might be worthwhile to include recent 2-3 months' credit card statements (if the dues are low) + state the credit limits + mention that she will bring these cards for her visit

Of course all of this is in addition to sponsorship letter & documents from her sponsor.

I'm uncertain how the NYSC certificate would support her application as a UK student.

Her application should be centered around providing good answers to the question "why you are going to leave Canada?".

meljoe:
Thank you so much , please if my daughter in the Uk is applying , and the work section does she need to submit any thing concerning the work section. Like nysc should she upload her nysc certificate or it’s not necessary ?

You can definitely make an enquiry with your MP's office for help with the status on your spousal sponsorship application but just FYI - they are not able to influence the outcome of your application.

Re: your TRV refusal, this sucks but when you have "significant ties" in Canada such as a spouse, you need to fight harder to convince them you'll return after your visit. What documents were submitted?

Mrbigg777:
good Day everyone,
My TRV has being refused, reason been that I don’t have insufficient funds and that they don’t think I would return back to Nigeria.
I have a Spousal sponsorship application pending also.
I want to know if writing to the MP would help?
Because am thinking of writing to the MP
Please I need reply on this.

Thanks.

Always check the VFS site for up-to-date information to avoid out dated info. Currently, transmission fee is ₦16,540:

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
See a few tips:

1. Focus searching through Middle East, African Airlines and European Airlines with only one stop in Schengen countries.

2. Most Importantly, always check the itinerary to ensure you are not stopping in US, or in two Schengen countries. If your travel dates are not fixed, play around to find better connections.

3. Attached are examples of itineraries that don't require transit visa - AF/KLM with only 1 stop in Europe, Ethiopian with 2 stops (but only 1 stop in Europe).

4. Attached also is an example where transit visa is required - AF/KLM with 2 stops in Europe.

aydupy:
Pls do you know any airline that you don't need transit visa, Ethiopian airline will pass through newyork and you I don't know if one needs transit visa

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 9:18am On Jul 14, 2023
For hotels, I like booking.com (you can filter to see only hotels with free cancellation). You can also use hotels.com, expedia.

For flights, I use wakanow.com (note that they cancel unpaid bookings usually after 48hrs but the goal for me is to only show the flight itinerary, so it works for me). Alternatively, you can try any of the airlines' websites - I know Qatar, AF/KLM have the book on hold options.

PS: Never pay for confirmed tickets or hotels without a visa. My advise above is only to allow you submit travel itinerary.

mikeayus:
Hello boss, please which platforms can i book flights and hotel with free cancellation?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
I'd say yes but customized e.g. each kids' doc will contain all of your supporting docs, birth certificate & photos to show relationship with the sponsor and the rest of the travel group, school files (transcripts etc), cover letter outlining purpose of trip including itinerary, sponsorship letter highlighting all the ties & financial capabilities.

Basically I advise to treat each as an individual application on the off chance that it is not reviewed by the same visa officer.

If it's an overkill, you can leave out things like house documents etc from their docs.

As always, this is based solely on my opinions.

meljoe:
Yes I understand but what I mean is when I’m uploading it , do I upload the same thing under everybody portal , or I should be specific. For example I upload birth certificate , house papers and the rest under mine , should I do the same for them too or I should just upload just their school papers and birth certificate with sponsorship letter ?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 11:34pm On Jul 13, 2023
Given you are the sponsor, your ties (familial, economic etc.) are important to support their application, especially if they are under 21 as just shared.

For any one over 21, all your supporting documents + any additional proof of ties for them e.g. any Pet Project they are involved in at school or at work could be useful.

meljoe:
What I meant is , if I’m uploading all I have started above under my own application, should I do the same for my kids or just upload what concerns each child ?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016:
Not sure what the latter means but you will have to upload supporting documents for each person.

As it's a family trip, itineraries, budgets and even activities might be similar for all so I won't be overly concerned there.

PS: Just a reminder as extensively discussed here, for all kids over 21 years old, they will have to qualify for a visa on their own as well as any support that you may offer or demonstrate for them will only be supplementary.

meljoe:
Please when uploading documents , do I upload the same documents for i and my kids or I should upload according to specifications?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 1:19pm On Jul 12, 2023
I just came across this link: https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/566

Try the steps listed and see if it works for you.

gr8femfred:
Good day sir,
I have the UCI AND APPLICATION NUMBER BUT I DONT KNW HOW TO CHANGE THE MAIL OR HOW TO GO ABOUT IT .. I WILL APPRECIATE IF I CAN HAVE THE LINK

THANKS

[Qquote author=Newbiein2016 post=124273230]Do you have the UCI and application number? Do check online if it's possible to change email address. I saw somewhere a while ago where someone did this through webform.

Ask the agent for a copy of the completed form and use this to request a change in email address.

If it's possible since you've not done biometrics, withdraw this application and do it yourself. Judging by the flippant response stating your wrong date of birth is not an issue (which it is, if not addressed), I wonder if there are no other gaps in your application.

I'm very wary of agents and it has exacerbated because of the multiple complaints I've seen on this and other travel threads, so my advise might be on the extreme end of the spectrum

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 1:10pm On Jul 12, 2023
Could you add latest transcripts as well if available as the goal is to point out that these kids have to return to complete school.

Anything that can prove your ties needs to be added e.g. I recall a friend who was the chair of their 'ajo' meeting of 35 persons included a signed statement regarding their end of year party to drive home her own ties. She also had the church send a stamped letter as part of some festive events she was leading (and as a bona-fide and active church member). I thought it was funny but after thinking it through, it made sense.

Point being, Canada is quite finicky with tourist visas and they'll always err on the side of caution if they have any concern, whatever you think will help, include it.

Re: flight and hotel, I always include those in visa applications as I don’t see anything wrong here. I go for book on hold and/or options with free cancellation. Never pay for any of these without a confirmed visa.

meljoe:
Please this is the documents I’m submitting

4 Bank Statements
Cac
Family Pictures
Sponsorship Letter
Visas and stamps of me and my kids
Birth certificate
Cover letter
Property documents
Tenancy Agreements
Marriage Certificate
Admission Letter
Hostel receipts for each year
School fees receipt for each year
Id card

Do you think anything else I can add ?

Do I need to book hotel reservations and flight reservations? Do I need to upload that too ?

TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Newbiein2016: 12:49pm On Jul 12, 2023
- Visit the website www.wakanow.com
- Search for flights from your location in the UK to the location in France e.g. if departing from London and heading to Paris, input that.
- Once the fares pop up, proceed with making a booking and chose the pay at the bank option. This will ensure a flight itinerary is set to your email.
- Use this itinerary for your visa application.

fela1000:
Thank you my bro for your response. Pls how can I go about the wakanow, kindly put me through God Almighty be with you always and forever Amen 🙏

Don't pay for any flight without a confirmed visa.

Check AF/KLM to see if you can book on hold or even try wakanow.com to get an itinerary.

Ultimately, this boils down to you and what you value.

Personally, there are non negotiables for me and things like company profile, values, market stability and overall long term goal will drive my decision making.

With rising cost of living, a decision like this needs to be carefully weighed: right now Singapore is classed as more expensive that Paris, so you spend more of your take home to maintain yourself than in Paris (this means other French cities are also less expensive). In the same context, if the take home in Singapore is way better (after subtraction of living expenses), and it meets your non negotiables, I'd consider it strongly.

Other things like pathway to residency etc. (If that's your thing) can also be considered.

If you haven't already, try speaking to a few employees to get a sense of the work culture - might really help you with this.

Additionally since the Manchester/Munich offer hasn't materialized, realistically you need to only be thinking about the physical offers you have on hand.

Ultimately, as stated above the decision should be made with long term benefit (& economic stability) in mind.

Given you are a highly skilled person, accepting a job offer abroad and exiting in 3 months for something else is something I'll advise strongly against. It's just a case of bad faith acting IMO and I know folks might advise you do this and lookout for yourself but that's just my personal opinion.

theHanafis:
Still got some few more questions.

I have another offer on the table from a high tech company in Singapore that pays way better than the one I previously got in France. Benefits, Bonuses (including sign on bonus), relocation allowance and company's profile is better. Should one choose France simply because of long term benefit and is Europe or the Singapore option is better?

Also, I'm currently interviewing with another high tech company that will base me in Manchester or Munich, which I'm interested in because of the company's profile and location. Is it advisable to wait for this company which might take 3 months or even more to finalize the offer + visa application or one should just hustle to either of the first two companies, and then switch when this Manchester/Munich offer materialize?

If the IRCC tracking portal (https://ircc-tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/login) was last updated on 20th June, it has an update indicating they sent you a message & it is very likely the next update might have your visa details on tracker.

Don't worry unless you need to. Your passport is out for stamping, so just hold on until you get notified for delivery

kayce19:
The VFS page was updated on the 10th of July.

The IRCC portal and tracker was updated 20th of June.

Thanks

1. Refusals should be disclosed. People have gotten 5year bans for failing to do this.

2. Keeping her school address is OK.

3. You completing the form is OK as well. You are the main applicant for a group trip and there's nothing wrong with doing this.

4. Might be good to split the budget amongst the group based on the itinerary and budget you have mapped out. So c$1.2k for flights + c$250 for accomodation + c$ 'X' estimate for activities, food etc. should then be listed for each traveller.

meljoe:
In the work section , under address I put in the name of her secondary school plus the address is that okay ?? And also when I started filling the form , there’s a section that says if someone is filling for you I clicked yes and I put my name , is that okay ? Under my kid’s application when asked how much will you spend in Canada , should I put in the amount under mine ? And I clicked yes under is someone else giving you money for your stay and I filled it that my mother will be sponsoring the trip , is that okay ? Is it complusory to disclose refusals ? I’m sorry for the plenty questions lol

The gentleman's case was unique and shouldn't cause any panic yet.

When last was your tracking page updated?

kayce19:
Hello Please need your assistance. Got Passport request letter since June 20, just submitted through carrier to VFS Lagos for my whole family .Just decided to check my IRCC tracker to see the status of the VISA and it has not been updated. Now after tracking VFS website i saw this (Your processed passport has been forwarded to the Canada Visa Office on 2023/07/10. To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website)

What could be happening, Could rejection still happen since tracker is not updated with VISA status. Fear dey catch me now based on the experiences i am seeing here.

Yes. She was not employed as she was a student. The education section dates will corroborate this.

The school address should be OK as she was a student.

meljoe:
Please while filling my daughter details for work , she was in secondary school by then , I choose unemployed. The date I should put is the date she was in high school right ? And the address is address of her high school or home address ?
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 9:29pm On Jul 11, 2023
I'm thinking 10days can get you to spend about ₦7.5m. See flights and airbnb estimates (airbnb is 20mins from Toronto, leaving you with a fair budget for food, activities & transport).

That's up to you regarding the UK adult. As she isn't based in Nigeria, she doesn't serve as a strong hometie for any of her siblings IMO.

meljoe:
Please what number of days do you think will be okay for 7-7.5m for 4 adults ? Yes I will surely add their school documents. I have a daughter in the Uk , so you think it’s better she applies with us and she adds her school documents , will that increase our strong ties ?

TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Newbiein2016: 9:08pm On Jul 11, 2023
https://www.budgetyourtrip.com/canada/toronto estimates about c$1.9k per adult per week, but with things like shared accomodation, not eating out each meals and going on free tours where available, should come down.

I'll advice to target about ₦7 - 7.5m max because there are 4 adults on the trip & reduce number of days.

Additionally, since your 3 kids are adults & you are the sponsor, their application must be well put together as they still need to demonstrate strong ties to return home to even though they are dependent on you for financial support.

E.g. for students, you should include things like tuition fee receipts + latest transcripts/mark sheets + student ID + any proof that can show why they must be back after the Canada visit.

meljoe:
I calculated flights , hotels and money to hold.

They are all adults oh
I have four kids , 3 will be traveling with me and are all adults. So including me that’s 4 adults. We will be staying for 2 weeks in Toronto. How much do you think will be ideal , 6m , 8m or 9m ?

quote author=Newbiein2016 post=124356670]I think it's too much considering the balance.

Might need to revise your itinerary and rebudget to reduce this. Could you share how you initially arrived at c$10k? When you say a family of 4, are they all adults? 2 adults, 2 children?

This further affects your budget and the activities in your itinerary.

The sweet spot will be to use < half of total savings (₦6m) to demonstrate financial capabilities IMO.
