Congrats!

I love Paris but with the ongoing strikes, you may need to adjust your plans carefully to enjoy your stay with minimal disruptions.

There's a lot to do and depending on your interests (museums, architecture, food, fashion etc. ) you can tailor your itinerary accordingly but my biggest tip especially during this period of strikes is to stay in one of the single digit arrondissements - this will allow you walk to sites if the transport lines are shutdown.

See this blog post for tips and itinerary ideas while travelling amidst the strikes: https://worldinparis.com/tips-for-visiting-paris-during-paris-transportation-strikes

A huge thanks to everyone for their input. I’ve Successfully done travel insurance, hotel and flight reservation. God bless you all.

Another question please, they have a ticket for 4th July to UK (Air France transit) but will be going into France on July 29 for a week.
Q1: What should be the date of arrival and duration I should fill in the form?

July 29th is date of arrival and duration is 1 week as you stated above.

Q2: what should I fill for number of entries requested?

[color=#000098]1, if they will only be visiting once on the 29th July as you stated above.

If I recall, you were asking about transit visas but it looks like you are going ahead to book tourist visas so just to remind you that if they are flying Airfrance on the 4th July, they need to have a valid Schengen visa. If their visa is not valid on their date of travel, they may encounter problems.

Flagging this as France might issue you a visa that starts reading close to your travel date from several experience with them e.g. if travel date is 29th July, the visa might be valid from 2 weeks earlier.

Others can advise if given the need for transit, you have to request 2 entries to cover the July 4th flight - I'm not familiar with this so can only highlight it so you prepare adequately.

This is all for now. Thank you again house!

You can choose to do a bank payment for wakanow flights or hotels and this way, you get sent an itinerary with your name and details to your email. If you do this correctly, you should get to a page showing you the attached image.

Alternatively as others have suggested, you can use booking.com, hotels.com, expedia.com or any of the airlines to do a book on hold reservation for hotels & flights.

All that's needed by the embassy is the reservation for where you intend to stay & the flight you'll take.

Use any option that works best for you.

Mandydaisy:
Thank you for your response,
I tried it and this is what I got. I don’t think this will suffice as a reservation since my name is not even attached.

Your post reminded me of this other post shared a while ago and it details more about why the visa application may have been denied.

Before reapplying, it will be important to review each aspect explained and have a clear explanation plus supporting documents that speak to your purpose.

Phunmyne:
Alright, thanks. It all started with his company receiving an invite from another company in France to send a staff of theirs to the company in France. The company here is buying an equipment from the company in France.
The first visa application was denied which came as a surprise, their reason was that they could not justify his traveling purpose. The company in France was contacted to reach out to them so the exact reason for the refusal will be known, the response was that the submission was less than a month to the traveling date and his marital status from his company's documents in Nigeria was single while he presented himself as married. The company in France decided to send another invitation at no cost (the first invite was paid for, not a big amount though).
All documents was put together again for re application, the day he went to submit, the company in France was updated and they sent a reminder memo from their end as well. He was refused again. This time they gave two reasons 1. They can't justify his traveling purpose 2. They are not sure he will leave the member state before his visa expires.
What do you think might be wrong?
erwinschro:
I saw this on stackexchange and thought it could be useful to this discussion about justification of purpose of travelling

When you see "Justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not provided" on a Schengen refusal, it usually means that they decided that the application was either 'incoherent', or not credible, or both.

Incoherence
Coherence has a special meaning in the Schengen vocabulary; it means clear, sensible, consistent, and most importantly, understandable. An 'incoherent' application lacks these qualities. Coherent applications will generally succeed; incoherent applications will not. Some examples of incoherence are given in the handbook...

- an applicant claims to travel to an industrial area, staying in a cheap hotel, for the purpose of tourism;
- an applicant claims to visit a professional event at dates that do not correspond to the actual dates of the event;
- an applicant claims that the purpose of the trip is to visit a friend, but it turns out that the person concerned is absent during that period;
- a trader in jewellery claims to have been invited to attend a medical conference.
While these examples may not correspond to your situation, they have a common thread where the application was not consistent with the applicant's job, status, or apparent life-style.

Premise
Incoherence also includes applications that did not successfully establish a premise for the visit. Commonly, there is no apparent connection between the applicant's itinerary and his career, apparent life-style, or financial capacity. Some examples of this are...

- an applicant expresses interest in an event or geographic area for which there are no signs of previous interest;
- an applicant presents a letter of invitation from a sponsor whose relationship with the applicant is unclear or distant;
- an applicant is continually sponsored by the same person where there is no apparent justification for visiting that person;
- an applicant cannot establish why a visit is contemplated at this particular time.

Credibility
An applicant's credibility can also result in a refusal reason of "Justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not provided".

Some examples of credibility problems are...

- The applicant has an existing support network of friends or family that would easily enable them to break the rules;
- A disproportionate amount of income is being spent for the visit;
- The applicant has changed stories over the course of several interactions with Schengen officials and their credibility has been damaged;
- The decision-maker cannot determine if the funds really belong to the applicant;
- The decision-maker cannot determine if the funds were obtained legally;
- The applicant has a history of prior refusals and there is no visible change in circumstances;
- The applicant's submission contains gaps or evidential shortfalls that cannot be explained;
- The applicant is going to a location where previous visa holders have entered breach;
- The sponsor has a dubious status, or has sponsored people who have entered breach;
- The sponsor attempts to attest to things that are beyond his control (like guaranteeing that the person will not overstay).

My first application, I included a copy of a UK visa that was in a passport I lost years ago.

I also included a copy of a US expired visa and the passport, and assume it helped made my case stronger.

In your case, I would suggest you include it as well as a printout of your entry and exit from https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home if you travelled with the visa.

For any supporting docs that may raise more questions than answers, my preference is to always over share information and given this is your first Schengen application, I encourage you to also 'overshare'!

Thank you 🙏🏿

PS: Just ensure to send all details to them i.e. the failed payment notification you received (the subject is something like 'payment attempt failed') as well as the successful payment confirmation notification.

This should be addressed to the country processing the visa. If processing through France, address this accordingly.

TLS is not an embassy and just a medium for collation and management of the visa application process. The final visa outcomes are determined by the countries themselves

Maturedhustler:
People,

I need some clarifications before completing my application. I am planning to travel to Netherlands with my kids and applying through France website.

1. Unlike my previous application, I couldn’t see Netherlands as country of visit and have to choose France. Can I proceed using France?
I just checked and you only get the option for Netherlands if applying for short stay visas. For long stay visas, it looks like they only process for France and its overseas territories. Contact Netherlands for further clarification: https://www.netherlandsworldwide.nl/contact

2. I selected long stay greater than 90 days because I intend getting visa to cover more than 6 months. I selected short stay in my last application and was given visa for only 6 months.

A quick check on the France application website shows:

"First check that your nationality or the context of your stay in France do not exempt you from the visa application requirements (visa assistant) and seek information about issuance conditions for a visa that will enable you to:
-Stay for an extended period for tourist or personal reasons;
-Carry out a professional activity;
-Pursue education;
-Join family members.
In any of the above situations, you will be required to attach supporting documents specific to your situation to your application, and follow the respective procedures."

This means as long as you have the right supporting documents to satisfy the long stay request, you should be fine. Do note this is for Long stay in France only. Use the link above to contact Netherlands for guidance as I didn't find further information from my quick search.

3. Is there available appointment dates for France now? I and the kids plan to travel in to Lagos by June for the appointment.

Just checked and I see 24th March availability for long stay visa. You can check yourself in future --->

No reason to be confused or dishonest.

16years is a long time and circumstances have changed so complete your application truthfully with all supporting documents.

Hello, wonderful people @duchess, justwise and co I have a burning concern, please. I am about to apply for a UK sponsorship visa. I was refused a visa in 2006 at the Republic of Ireland high commission in Abuja. The problem is that I don't have the refusal letter with me anymore and cannot really remember the reason why I was refused because I never knew this data would come. But I think it was due to poor proof of funds. This happened 16 years ago. So should I fill out the UK application form stating that I haven't been refused a visa to other countries before? I still have the refusal stamp and reference number on my old non-Epassort. I am confused here and don't know the best thing to do. Please help a brother in need here. Thanks.

There are samples that have been shared on the thread. Just use those and adapt for your specific scenario.

Be advised this might not work or the visa officer might choose not to look at the cover letter. So note again that the better option is to cancel and reapply for your peace of mind.

TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Newbiein2016: 10:41pm On Mar 18, 2023
For first time travellers, and based on history shared here, you can expect to receive anything between 1 week to 1 month depending on the dates you state in your application.

It really might be hard for you to get 3 months on your first application as schengen countries are notorious for the short validity they issue.

The good news is that visas have been issued to first timers and to ensure you get yours, go back a couple of pages and read through to see documents that others have submitted. There's the story of a lady who got a 1 year visa after an initial rejection and she listed all the documents she submitted (it was a lot). That will benefit you greatly as you prepare your application.

Additionally, if your company will fully sponsor your trip i.e. provide all supporting documents to confirm they will cover you for the duration of your stay, I think it might give you an even better chance.

So, take some time and go through this thread and you'll get nearly all the answers you need.

Ayinke93:
Thank you so much for replying. I'm a first time traveller,I'm a software developer earn reasonably well working for the Dutch company. I have no serious home times(I'm unmarried and young), hoping this won't be a problem. I already decide to spend a bit longer time in Netherlands, as getting visa appointments at the German embassy is almost impossible. And I'll avoid stating that I want to spend that much time in Germany.
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Newbiein2016:
Share more details on your profile:

- Travel history to US, UK, Schengen, Australia, New Zealand or other Western countries with stringent immigration processes

- Employment profile, earning power

- Other home ties?

Also note that given your intention is to spend the bulk of your time outside Netherlands, you might need to apply through the German embassy as it sounds like you'll spend more time there. Read here for more info: https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/schengen-borders-and-visa/visa-policy/where-and-how-apply-schengen-visa_en#:~:text=You%20must%20lodge%20the%20application,will%20spend%20the%20longest%20period.

If you are going to spend only 1 week for work, and 2+ months on vacation, it is going to be a tough sell and only your profile and how convincing your application is might help, IMO.

Ayinke93:
Hi Everyone! please I need your guidance on my application. I'm going to the Netherlands for a work meet-up thing, Because I work for a Dutch company. Netherlands visa applications for Nigerians are done through the French embassy, so I think any information given here should be valid in my case too.

I plan to spend about two to three months in the Schengen region,A week in the Netherlands, and the remaining times will be spent in Germany with my boyfriend, and we have plans to visit a couple other countries within this period. In summary, I'll be exhausting almost the whole 3 months validity period if my visa is approved. I have no issues with accommodation either in Germany or Netherlands, I just want to know if it's wise to state that I'll be spending that amount of time there. I can get my boyfriends proof of accommodation in Germany if it helps in any way, and I have no issue proving that I have approximately 50 dollars daily for the times I plan to stay in the Schengen region. Any Ideas on how to properly tailor my application? Also, should I apply single or multiple entry? what difference does it make?

Also, I already purchased my travel insurance with a three months validity period. I hope there's no issue with that?

I look forward to your responses. Thanks.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Newbiein2016: 6:12pm On Mar 18, 2023
It's better to declare all rejections and so, I'll advise you cancel and resubmit your application.

If you wish to take the risk, you could upload an additional cover letter stating this rejection, the rejection reason and why it was omitted in your application form. You will have to pay to use the assisted service however (its about NGN47,000 or thereabout - double check the exact cost on TLS site).

Ririmichael:
I didn’t lie. My brother filled the application for me and I didn’t notice the error before he submitted and it’s been over 24hrs. I’m supposed to go for biometrics on Monday.
Please is there any other thing I can do?
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Newbiein2016: 9:28am On Mar 17, 2023
I want to start by emphasizing that a lot of what we have on Nairaland has been crowd-sourced information based on evidence from past visa applications.

Basically, this means a lot of the guidance you get here is driven by what has worked (or not) for other applicants as well as based on guidelines provided by the embassies/VO themselves (in various forms e.g. webinars, threads by VO on forums like Nairaland etc).

That said, I believe that after gathering information about an applicant's situation during the interview and from the DS-160, VO's use their discretion and judgment to reach a decision.

Generally, they are well trained to probe & ask the correct questions & might concentrate on a specific area of your application that they believe to be weak. Your responses, body language and their knowledge from trainings will help them decide on the outcome hence why a lot of feedback here emphasize confidence, relaxation etc during interviews.

Additionally, the VO themselves are not infallible and biases may kick in to further affect outcomes e.g. we have cases of students in UK applying with higher success rates than workers with strong home-ties in Nigeria due to the region, visa abuse history by its nationals and other factors.

You know, my first application was rejected and I believe it was because of an Italian rejection on my passport - I doubt anything could have changed the VOs mind at the point after he saw the stamp on my passport. My profile was 'strong' home-ties wise. But if I had for example applied from the UK, with my same profile and that rejection stamp, there would have been higher chances of approval.

While I generally shy away from these questions as it is tough to predict, I encourage you to carefully fill the DS160 form as that's the first step of the interview and also, engage the experts who've gone through the birth route for more tips and guidance.

No.

Yes - but be sure to use the same DS160 form used to secure your appointment.

Wakanow is great if you are certain of your travel dates. They offer good prices and discounts but date change requests etc can be difficult and largely more expensive with them.

Skyscanner is a super aggregating search engine i.e. they are able to pull and display multiple airlines selling tickets to your destination (think google flights).

They don't sell tickets, so if you find a ticket option that works for you, you'll have to buy it from any of the third party OTAs or through the website of the airline they've displayed. Just be sure you understand the terms of the tickets sold through those third party sites and ensure to read reviews before buying from them.

Sugarlippsjojo:
Please has any one used Skyscanner to book flight or Wakanow?

Thank you for sharing.

I do also believe UK/US/Schengen/Japan/Australia/NZ etc visas serve to strengthen visa applications and further serve as home ties for travellers, especially those who do not access public funds or overstay.

gaby:
Having read your submission above, I had to chat her up once again and the screenshot is attached for more clarification.

There was indeed a mix-up in communication and understanding which all came from my part, I must admit.

The last misunderstanding was where I thought she said she got the evisa upon arrival at Istanbul whereas what she meant was the usual entry stamp.

For the sake of your research, anyone following this thread, and the dude that was cursing me out, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and wrong information.

She did get a Turkish visa from Nigeria to go with her UK visa which made it easier for her to obtain the Turkish.

So, in truth, a Visa is needed on a Nigerian passport even with the UK visa stamped on it.

I take full responsibility for the mix-up, misunderstanding, and wrong information.

Apologies to everyone who might felt offended by this innocent but skewed submission.

God bless.

Could you share more info as this is quite interesting:

What airline did she fly?
What was the entry point to Turkey
Does she have any other nationality outside being Nigerian?

Any further details will be appreciated to enlighten me how she managed this. I have been following the development and have yet to see anyone travel successfully with a UK visa since they stopped the e-visa.

gaby:
So, I finally got the clarification from my daughter that her UK visa on a Nigerian passport enabled her to fly without a visa from Nigeria but was issued an e-visa upon arrival at Istanbul.
TravelRe: Which Other Countries Can You Travel To With A UK Visa? by Newbiein2016:
There are some very untrue statements posted here that will be confusing for others.

Firstly @OP, you can not travel to US, Canada or Europe with a UK visa.

Whilst the UK is part of Europe, it is not part of the Schengen area and a visa to the UK does not give access to the Schengen area neither does it grant you access to USA or Canada.

For each of these countries, you must get a visa from the respective authorities as a few people have shared.

That said, there are a few countries you can visit with a UK visa and some of these include but are not limited to:

America/Caribbean
Mexico (some reports claim this is no longer possible)
Anguilla (British Territory)
Antigua and Barbuda
Bermuda (British Territory)
Bonaire (Dutch Territory)
Curaçao
Dominican Republic
Sint Maarten

Europe
Albania
Georgia
Gibraltar (British Territory)
Montenegro
North Macedonia
Serbia

Middle East
Qatar (some reports claim this is no longer possible)
Saudi Arabia

Africa
Egypt (some reports claim they only accept you when you fly in from outside the African continent)
Morocco

This list was collated from my travel research & validated by information received from the countries' website but I must insist that you should always conduct your own research including contacting the relevant authorities in your target countries for up-to-date information before travelling.

Edited to include: You might need to have a multiple entry tourist/Business visa and must have travelled to the UK before using the visa to access many of the countries listed here

Finally to @gaby insisting that UK visa guarantees a turkey visa or visa on arrival (as stated by @Kelvinpam), see below as taken from the Turkisk evisa website.

The evisa for Nigerian passport holders was suspended last year - see link for further reading (https://allafrica.com/stories/202207090215.html) and note that this has not been reinstated.

Every Nigerian passport holder travelling to Turkey must have a visa to enter the country and currently needs to get one from the consulate/embassy.

As someone who has enjoyed the evisa regime severally, this is still sad news to me.

hunee:
God bless you.

General Question Please, if you are embarking on a short trip let's say 7 days, is it best to do a travel insurance that covers 7days or one month?

Someone asked this question some days ago
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Newbiein2016: 2:02pm On Mar 03, 2023
This is False!

You can go to France with any airline. Additionally, since the Schengen visa was issued by the French authorities, you only need to enter and spend time in France before heading to other destinations.

To emphasize, you can fly to France through any airline of your choice (Airfrance, KLM, Qatar, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Egypt Air, Royal Air Maroc etc). There is no law restricting you on this and more importantly, for all listed airlines above, there are no requirements for a transit visa.

For context: On a trip a couple months ago, the flights were considerably cheaper to London Heathrow (I had a visa), so I flew to London and took the Eurostar (which were on sale) to Paris to save costs.
