Josh1996: Good morning bosses, please I need your advice. I was able to secure a supervisor at Simon Fraser university. But he can't fund me and I intend funding myself but the school requires that students not funded by Professors should secure a scholarship in their home country as they (sfu) don't accept self funding. What can I do as I really want to work with man and the tuition of the school is very cheap. The Professor has already asked me to ask the Dean of Grad studies for a way around it but I also want to know your opinions please. Thanks @Josh1996, do you have the funds to pay for your entire tuition fee? If yes, inform the school that your family has decided to pay all your fees before resumption. I think the school is finding it hard to believe that you have enough funds to pay your fees. If you are sure you have the funds, pay you entire tuition and they will accept it. That’s the only way to show that the funds are readily available. |

Eziolu: Good afternoon everyone, I have been a silent member of this group since I applied for my visa on 20th of April, I gladly say that this forum helped me into getting a successful application.
I just got passport request this morning after 9 weeks of waiting. Thanks everyone who contributed in one way or another in the group.
Please I kindly what to ask for some guidance on how to send my passport to Lagos. I work presently and I don’t think I will have the time to take the passport there myself , considering that I wouldn’t know when it will be stamped.
Please should I send my passport to them using DHL prepaid envelope? , please those who have gone through this process and were not living in either Abuja or Lagos should kindly assist me.
Thank you Congratulations. Kindly put a call through to VFS or send a mail to get first hand information. |

Yomicee: thank You @ Linzo. Do you know any specific bank? @Yomicee, there’s no bank in Nigeria that will give that rate (230/CAD). The fastest way to make your tuition payment is through the bank. Just go to your bank and request for a form A to pay your tuition. The rate should be between 280-290/CAD. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Newman1010: 3:42pm On Jun 24, 2018 |
Linzo: The best and cheaper way to pay your tuition from Nigeria is bank payment. Go to your bank with your admission/offer letter and your international passport and tell them you want to pay your tuition fee, they will process it @ the CBN approve rate of N230/CAD$. Though it take up to 7 working days before your college will acknowledge you of the receipt.. Such approved rate applicable to tuition fee and medical payment abroad by CBN/FG @Linzo, pleased which bank processes CAD @ N230/CAD and where did you get the information that N230 is the approved rate for CAD? The approved rate stated by CBN is for USD @ N360/USD. To get the rate for CAD, you will use CAD cross rate against USD which is not lower than N280 |

Please stop advertising 3rd party link here as you have done this couple of times now.
Thank you. @justwise, this is noted. I’ll suggest you also help this people that get denied and want to get their GCMS note by stating a link that will be adopted as the standard for this forum. That way, no body will advertise any other link. People come here for help and they should be able to get it else the purpose of this forum will be defeated. Just my suggestion |

Steper4u: thanks. I sent them an email and I was replied today that there's an update on my application but when I login into my CIC account but I did see anything on account cos my background check is in progress...
is it this strange cos I sent them an email to complain that there's a delay on my application( applied 15th February It is not strange. I think when ever they start working on an app, an update goes out to the applicant. Within the next few days, you should get an update. I believe it will be a positive one. |

joe10: Good day guys... I notice something strange on my profile just now. I sent a message the immigration in Ghana, Kenya and Lagos to explain reasons for my delayed application ( Almost 10 weeks now) and why there is no update on my profile even though i did upfront medical. I just signed in now to see that my medical now reads "You passed the medical exam" but since inception background check still reads "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information".
I am confused now... Was it my message that prompted this? Can this be a good sign and should anticipate final decision soon or mere coincidence that it was updated today? My guy na different questions i just dey ask myself o. Me still dey pray sha Congrats |

dozieihems: Good morning all I have been following this thread for sometimes now I really appreciate everyone I have this advice that kept me thinking since yesterday I want to share it with u guys.I work in a reputable company my bank transfer is 120k a month after loan and tax deduction.Am married with two kids I want to apply for my masters in Canada in mind of bringing my family over during my program. My friend in UK adviced me yesterday that I shld not travel to Canada that things are hard there, that it will make me to start afresh. That I may find it difficult even after my masters to get a good job to sponsor my family over there. Please advice a brother so I will not make a decision that I will regret all my life Where I work, people who earn over 500k a month with crazy bonuses left for Canada. You earn 120k (which is less than 400$) and you don’t want to make a decision that you will regret forever. Well done Sir, your friend is in deed a very good friend. Everyone I know say the UK is very difficult, what is your friend still doing there? Stop seeking fake people’s opinion when making a major move in you life. Read, pray and take the bold step. |

vikmeek: Hello,
Please is it possible to use a sponsor that is not related to you, if the person can get an affidavit of sponsorship? @vikmeek, yes you can but the person will have to state why he or she wants to sponsor you. Why will a non relative want to incur so much cost in sponsoring you? How much is your total tuition and have you made any deposit? A lot of applicants have scaled through using third party sponsors but they need to write a convincing letter of sponsorship. |

Steper4u: Seriously, its so annoying, this visa application is just a waste of time to me, cos why should it be taking 4months before a decision is made on an application @ Steper4u, kindly send a mail to accraimmigration@international.gc.ca, accra.immigration@international.gc.ca, lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca immediately. Your application has exceeded the normal processing time and it will not affect your application negatively. It is possible that a VO is unknowingly sitting on your application. 16 weeks without a medical call is outrageous. A colleague of mine waited 24 weeks before sending a mail. She got approved a week after sending the mail The subject should be something like this UPDATE FOR STUDY PERMIT APPLICATION IFO STELLA MARIS YAKUB APPLICATION NO: S309090909. Ensure you state that your application has spent 16 weeks with them, which is way beyond the normal processing time. Shoot the mail now. Wish you the best |

My background check still running, eligibility review not yet started, though i have years of travel history. Is this normal?? @nacos, it is normal. Just be patient for the next two weeks. If no changes in your account, you can send them a mail. And also forget all these things about travel history. They will review your application and get back to you. Pray and stay positive. |

I’m sure i will be saying another congrats to you in two months time. kindly ensure that you put up a good application. Be clear on your purpose of visit, ties to home country, assets if you have any, your parents property can help. Also ensure your previous study/ current job is in line with the Current program, explain all gaps, share your travel history (if you don’t have one, share the travel history of you family members that obeyed their visa conditions), share your after study plan and make sure you finances are adequate and the sources are clear. Pay part tuition if the funds are available or tell your sponsor to transfer sufficient funds to you. Ensure you explain every major lodgement. You can use sub headings for each point on your SOP. It is clearer that way. Back every statement on your SOP with clear documents. Lastly pray, pray and continue to pray Come back here in two months to share your testimony. See you in Halifax |

Akchi32: Hello Everyone! I need your help. i have a peculiar challenge. i applied for TRV with an admission to study PGC but was denied on the ground of purpose of visit. During my waiting for a decision, i also applied to University of Regina, i was offered admission in Masters Programme. I am about to apply for TRV, my question is,
1. Should i state in my SOP the reason for the initial denial? Bearing in mind its not same programme i am reapplying for. 2. Should i go ahead and apply as a fresh applicant? Though stating categorically that I've been previously denied visa in my form. 3. Please advise if what you have in mind is entirely different from what i stated above.
Thanks in anticipation. @Akchi32, what do you mean by “apply as a fresh applicant”? Do you intend to create a new profile? If that’s your intention, then I am sorry for you because you will just cause problems for yourself. As far as you will apply with the same details and passport, they will find out. Please on your previous account, state your UCI, clearly state the previous refusal reasons and what you’ve done so far. |

vickyehi: Yes you can apply from within canada when the score drops. Also if you are doing a masters (assuming u had 2 or more cert to get 430) , you can apply for express entry on the ist month of your PGWP because the masters will improve your score and your work experience is already intact. That saves your 6mths to 1 year wait period (depends on your province). Thanks @vickyehi |

Bonvieto: you most likely wont get an ITA, if memory serves me right for the past 4 months the cut-off has been 441, so a score of 430 might not cut it. i would advice you go in September, finish your studies, i assume in Canada once one graduates, one can apply for a work permit, it is at this stage i would advice you fill an an express entry profile, cos at this stage you would have already graduated and your score would definitely go up Thanks @Bonvieto, however i believe the score will come down (there are very few people above 440). On Wednesday, the score will drop by at least 2 points. My question is what if it eventually drops? can i apply? |

Hello House,
I just need a quick clarification. I have a study permit, will be leaving before September. I am also in the express entry pool (even before i applied for study permit) waiting for the score to drop (slightly below 430). My question is can i apply for PR if the score drops when i am already in Canada? are there any implications? If i apply in Nigeria before traveling, are there any implications?
Please help, person wey ask question no dey miss road. Please don't yab me ooo, i am not feeling fine today.
Thanks |

Frankrobbn1: Congratulations Newman1010. Kindly share your profile for the house. Long post alert, please do not quote every statement. Sorry this is coming late, kindly see documents below: All CIC documents Letter of explanation: I wrote about myself, my job, change in career (studied chemistry but work with a bank), why i chose Canada, why i am applying for study permit (simply for educational advancement which will my benefit me as a banker in Nigeria), why SMU (i went to their page and got all the information i needed), why not Nigeria, My finances (paid close to 80% tuition, had about CAD 20k in Naira and dollars), The future for me after this program (here i wrote about my career after this masters and how i intend to do exploit in Nigeria), Previous Refusal reasons (i talked about the previous reasons for denial and how i tackled them with proof) and lastly i wrote about my express entry account (i am still in the pool waiting for the score to drop, my score is slightly below 430). I also made a mistake when i went for my upfront medical by choosing express entry medical instead of study permit (Thank God everything worked out fine). My statement of account (Naira about 2.6m and USD 7.5k) My sponsors statement (about 40-50m balance) My sponsors Cert of incorporation Sister’s passport and marriage certificate (SPONSOR • Father’s passport and visa pages • Mother’s passport and visa page • Brother’s passport and visa pages I added these three documents above as proof that i am not going to violate my visa conditions because i do not have a travel history. i actually got this from an immigration consultant. My family members never violated their visa conditions • Advance Financial Interpretation Certificate • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate • University Degree Certificate • West African Examination Council Results • Promotion Letter • Letter of Introduction • Offer letter from Employer • Confirmation Letter • Work ID card • My Pensions savings account statement (N 1.8m) • Land purchase notes and a deed of assignment • My car documents. • Advance Financial Interpretation Certificate • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate • University Degree Certificate • West African Examination Council Results I committed the rest into Gods hands |

I am applying online.
Goingforward. @goingforward, you will have to present your original passport during biometrics. You can call or send a mail to VFS for clarification. I think they also place the bio data page on a machine to determine if it’s authentic. |

DRiches: @All, please, my co-sponsor didn’t mention in the sponsorship letter if he has dependant or not. I got the letter from him and he’s out of the country right now. It will be too late to wait for him to come back. What is a way out ??
Note that, my main sponsor can still change anything in her own letter content. I still have that Grace from her.
Is it really compulsory that your sponsor or co-sponsor must state their dependants in the sponsorship letter? I think all these questions will be asked during the online application? Are all people that got their visas approved really mention their dependants in the sponsorship letter?
@jnyuwa02 I need your contribution too. Thanks @DRiches, do you think the VO will deny you Visa simply because one of your sponsors didn’t mention their dependants? Why are disturbing yourself? If you feel every other aspect of your application is good to go, kindly submit your application. No reasonable person will refuse your application because your sponsor didn’t state their dependants. No time, processing time is increasing Good luck |
