lummy11: 27500(CAD) I didn’t have any other sponsorship My sponsor also had 13M in a fixed deposit account @lummy11, your tuition is 27500 (about 8M using 290 to 1 CAD) and you presented a statement of 2.5M? Haba, you can do better. Did you pay any apart of your tuition? If you didn’t, how do you intend to survive in Canada? |

jnyuwa02: Chances are not and can never be the same. A loan on one’s application are an outlier and not a good thing with the Canadians . He has to do significantly more than others. People who present a weak application and succeed through are just lucky. A person with loan has to do much more than the average person to succeed. I pitch on applications here based on evidence not luck. Anything tangent on luck is beyond the purview of my analysis. I can only make a call on what I see. It’s my honest advice to take or leave. I hold no monopoly on what can be. He should try. You are right there can only be two answers yes or no. Best wishes. @ the highlighted statement, kindly confirm where you got that information from. Till then, @hilaryxoxo, kindly ensure that you put up a good application. Be clear on your purpose of visit, ties to home country, assets if you have any, your parents property can help. Also ensure your previous study/ current job is in line with the MFIN program, explain all gaps, share your travel history, share your after study plan and show proof that the loan can be paid with what you intend to do in Nigeria. Lastly pray, pray and continue to pray Come back here in two months to share your testimony. |

jnyuwa02: If you read my post carefully, I didn’t close the door that it would be impossible. In a realm of possibilities, anything is possible. My assertion is that I never heard of this company and even if it exists, it will hardly fly with the Canadian rigorous visa process where finances are key and primary. And the VO don’t believe anything in the SOP except backed with evidence. So providing proof that you have loan without showing convincing evidence that you have substantial ties to your country and justifying the lucrativenees of your job prospect back home to warrant both a foreign education and your return, is bound to fail. I wish him luck too though. The way forward is not only write a convincing SOP on why burrow, but show evidence in assets and financial status and family. He needs to do more work than the average candidate. In the Canadian system you can even pay your entire schoool fees and be denied, talkless of one who burrows. Good luck! Certainly worth a try. Not trying to talk anyone down. Everything you stated above applies to everyone applying for study permit. Starting from showing good home ties to good job prospects. It all has to do with putting up a very good application. I feel there is no need to make him feel that his/her chances are slim because of the loan. How many people can afford to pay 80k CAD without a loan? Like every other applicant, he/she should put up a good application and the chances of getting approved is same as every other person on this journey. People submit good applications and get rejected while some others submit weak applications (plus lies) and get approved. |

blessedness: What if I switch school when I get there? Instead of going through admission process again. What do you think? If you want to switch school, then you should have an admission letter for the new school before entering Canada. Besides before UCW gives you your acceptance letter, you will have to pay a seat deposit of about $6000 which is non refundable except you’re denied visa. You can’t also get to Canada and decide not to go to school until you get a new admission from another school. If you want to switch school start processing admission with other schools and also get ready to lose your deposit. |

All the schools he applied to did not grant him admission except for University of Canada West for masters in business administration. The whole tuition came to 39000cad and I made some research online and the sch doesn't really have good reviews. Is anyone in the school currently? Is it worth it? Between going for University of Canada west and running a diploma in a college which is better? Please advise. University of Canada West is a terrible school and a total waste of money. Try Thompson Rivers University and saint Mary’s University |

Mayboy: thanks for the response... please what will you advice me to do? @Mayboy, have you heard of Canada Express Entry? If you’ve not, you need to go and read about it immediately cos you are barely 12months away from being a permanent resident of Canada. Your academic profile is great. All you need is to get a good score in IELTS. I also want to believe you have up to 2 years work experience. You have BSC and MSC. Bro/sis you will be in Canada by this time next year if you go for EE. My little suggestion, it’s left to you to follow up. When you get to Canada you enroll for either MSC or PHD. |

Pls I have one more last slot to apply to one more school out of two..but am confused The first option is a school that doesn't require u securing a supervisor and could offer me an admission scholarship The second option is a school where I have secured a supervisor already but no scholarship or funding . Which do I pick? I want to believe that these options are available at two different schools. If they are, then I’d advise you look for money and apply to both schools. It is better to be safe than sorry Wish you all the best |

@holythug, sorry about your denial. Before you reapply, you’ll need to solve the issue of purpose of visit. Kindly defer to fall and forget about appealing the outcome of your application. What did you study in school? What do you do currently? When did you graduate? What program are you going to study? Did you pay part of your tuition fee? If you can answer these questions, your problem is half solved. |

@ jnyuwa20, the post below especially the bolded should put an end to this agurement. We all understand the message you are trying to pass but let's leave it at that. Well said @cuspy cuspy: I have been following your posts for a while now and you don't come across to me as someone who would shy away from something because others are running away from it. That others failed to get an admit or funding from USask stop you from applying? Or should one decide to travel by road instead of air simply because others have died by plane crash? Obviously No!
Stop discouraging people from going through this route because it is a tad more difficult. The reason why people go via the PGD route is because of low CGPA. Getting into a Master's program in some fields is as difficult or even more difficult than getting a TRV with a PGD Admission.
Yes, they should know that it is difficult to get a TRV via the PGD route but they should also know that some people get it. They should also know that it is difficult to get into a Master's program with low cgpa but they should also know that it is not impossible. So let them choose their poison. In fact, with the way you magnify the difficulty associated with the PGD route, one will erroneously jump into conclusion that getting a TRV with a Master's Admit is like a walk in the park.
Like someone rightly pointed, we should join heads together to figure out how PGD applicants can prove to the VOs that they're legit rather than imbuing them with doubts about their application. |

@Beyy, this is a terrible advise. @ aliACCA, please don't try it. Just send a mail to Accra requesting for update or use CSE. We should be careful with what we say here. This persons app could be refused after waiting for so long because of this statement below. Let's be guided accordingly. Regards Beyy: Most applications like yours are usually forgotten applications. I'm talking from experience. When you request for withdrawal, with a tangible reason, they'll fast track ur processing. Try it and see. Especially if you graduated with very good grades |

Look for a family member with a GTBank account to help with the request. You will have to transfer funds to the person. CBN sells funds to all banks on a weekly basis. If you do that today, the request will be treated this week. Miles490: I've been to the bank this morning to ask what's up, they checked and still not done "says processing" the manager advised me if it would affect me meeting up with due date I should use other means or a different bank because they are not sure when it will be done. That's the latest from first Bank Form A this morning. |

@igbowanile, you really need to reconsider this decision. Nothing good comes easy except in some cases and don't compare yourself to some other person. A lot of people were denied more than twice n they still got it. You r young and truth be told your Canada is one of the best places for young people. People earning over 600k are relocating to Canada. You were denied on financial ground, that's pretty easy to tackle. You need to relax, if possible take time away from nairaland. Stop thinking about the present or your present job. Think about your future. Nigeria isn't totally bad but this country is really hard n it's not getting any better except you get an oil company job. So please I beg you, try one more time and give it your best. You will get it. It can be very frustrating when you long on n see a denial. After a fall, pick yourself back up n move on. That's the spirit of a winner. But then it's your decision to make. Wish you the very best. Igbouwanile: Thank you all for the support & encouragement so far, It's amazing am quiting this endeavor 2 move on, but I have to. wishing u all de best. love yu! #peace! |
