The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the Independent National Electoral Commission and the police are two institutions that impede the conduct of credible elections in Nigeria.

Wike said this in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle.

President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole on Friday met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has threatened to sue Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki over his unwarranted attack and call for Oshiomhole’s resignation.

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has said President Muhammadu Buhari was aware of his decision to pick a fellow Muslim, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, as his running mate for the 2019 governorship election.

El-Rufai said this on Tuesday when he hosted the people of Sanga Local Government Area of the state at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna.

The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has resigned, Daily Trust reports.

Ahmed is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. He is expected to contest against his former boss Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who is the likely flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the poll.

A source close to Tambuwal said that the deputy governor resigned voluntarily and “we will not hesitate to accept his resignation.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it is yet to receive any request from any political party, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the substitution of governorship candidate or other candidates.

The name of incumbent governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, was missing when the electoral body displayed the list of candidates for the 2019 governorship election in the state last week.

Security operatives allegedly swooped on a private jet conveying the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku yesterday. The aircraft, which touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 1:30 a.m. from Dubai, was said to have been boarded by the armed personnel in a search operation.

For eight hours last Sunday, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was held hostage at the Department of State Security Service (DSS) at the behest of some governors and some forces in the party to force him to resign.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has welcomed the news that the Federal Government has agreed to pay the N30,000 minimum wage it had previously negotiated with the Nigerian Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress and other labour affiliates.

Abubakar, in a statement on Tuesday by his campaign organisation, said he remains committed to a living wage and it is one of the pillars of his soon to be launched policy document.

The Buhari campaign organisation says the People’s Democratic Party’s promise to crash petrol price to N90 is laughable, as no supplier of the product will sell at that price.

On Friday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate, will reduce the cost of premium motor spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, to N97 per litre.

Lionel Messi has been included in Barcelona’s travelling squad to face Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The All Progressives Congress has said it will not submit the West African School Certificate attestation of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Independent National Electoral Commission despite the fact that it had been presented to him by the West African Examination Council.

The attestation was presented to President Buhari on Friday by the Registrar of WAEC, Dr. Uyi Uwadiae, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Ahead of the 2019 polls, traditional rulers in Ogun West senatorial district, comprising Yewa-Awori in Ogun State, have endorsed the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, to succeed the incumbent Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
