The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the “scanty attendance” at President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign mega rally in Abuja on Wednesday as a parody and a further indication to Mr. President and his All Progressives Congress (APC) that Nigerians have rejected them ahead of Saturday’s Presidential election.

Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP National Publicity Secretary, in a statement on Wednesday, said the development has further revealed that the APC only fabricated figures in their claims that 14.8 members of the APC voted for him at the flawed convention.

He said: “Nigerians can now further see that the figures were concocted by APC leaders to give an impression that President Buhari has massive support across the country, as well as use it as basis to allocate fictitious figures for him in the Presidential election.

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, governorship candidate in Ogun State, Mr. Rotimi Paseda, has cried out to Prof. Mahmood Yakub, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to direct the return of his Permanent Voter Card without further delay.

Speaking with newsmen at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Paseda expressed frustrations over the non-issuance of his PVC by INEC.

He lamented that though he had applied for replacement of his PVC since August 2018, the electoral body had failed to reproduce the card barely three days to the 2019 elections in which he is a candidate.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sued the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its decision to use card readers only for the general election.

In a suit filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the party asked the court to restrict INEC from postponing elections in any polling unit as a result of a malfunctioning card reader.

INEC had declared that voting, in the case where a smart card reader malfunctions, will be suspended till a new card reader arrives, or postponed till the next day if a replacement is not available by 2pm.

Suspected hoodlums this afternoon attacked the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole with stones at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State venue of the presidential campaign rally.

Violence broke out during the rally when Oshiomhole was called to the podium to speak to the crowd. Stones started flying onto the podium with some hitting President Muhammadu Buhari who was quickly shielded by his security personnel.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has threatened to pull out of the peace accord signed by the party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar ahead of the general elections.

The party based its reasons on what it described as comments, threats and incendiary actions by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the presidency which, they said, are directly inimical to a peaceful, free and fair election.

The party, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, was reacting to comments made by Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai where he threatened foreigners who might interfere in Nigeria’s forthcoming general elections.

Wike said shutting down internet access by NSA and INEC was aimed at facilitating rigging.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Thursday released the final list of gubernatorial candidates and House of Assembly candidates for the March 2 election with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in both Rivers and Zamfara States conspicuously missing.

But Senator Buruji Kashamu again floored the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), making the final list of the commission as the Ogun State gubernatorial candidate of the party.

The electoral body had in a statement on Wednesday revealed that having reviewed the two court judgments delivered last week by a Federal High Court in Abuja and Zamfara State High Court in Gusau, the ruling APC did not conduct party primaries in the state.

Powerful, while warning its members to stay away from any political activity on Tuesday, said their desire was to ensure a total boycott of Buhari’s campaign with the hope he (Buhari) would meet an empty stadium.
