I Feel like Tiger, Lion Inside Me is Ready To Devour Criminals-New IGP Egbetokun Speak Watch video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vnw89TNyILU President Bola Tinubu named him as the IGP in acting capacity on Monday. Newly appointed acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, says he is ready to chase away all criminals in Nigeria. Mr Egbetokun stated this after he was decorated by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday. President Bola Tinubu named him as the IGP in acting capacity on Monday. His appointment has to be confirmed by the Senate. He succeeds Usman Baba, who has been retired from service. Mr Egbetokun, a former police commissioner in Lagos, told State House correspondents that he will formally assume duty on Wednesday. He said he feels like a tiger inside of him ready to chase away all criminals in Nigeria and like a lion ready to devour all the enemies of the country. “Now I have just been decorated and I am looking forward to taking over tomorrow morning by 11 a.m. I really can’t describe how I feel presently, but if I have to tell you anything, I will tell you that right now I feel like tiger inside of me ready to chase away all the criminals in Nigeria. “And some other time, I fell like a lion in me ready to devour all the internal enemies of Nigeria. That’s my feeling right now.” Meanwhile, Mr Baba said he is happy that he is handing over the police force to somebody he knows. “It’s very significant as you have mentioned. It’s a stage, you come, you work, and you go. I’m happy I am handing over to somebody I know that will carry the mantle of leadership from where I have stopped,” he said. Asked how much he knows his successor, the outgoing IGP said: “We grew up in the job, we grew up together. I was his boss at a time or even when I was IGP. He worked under me twice, we’ve been working together and I know how he can go ahead to champion the course of the police from where I stopped.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/605636-i-feel-like-tiger-inside-ready-to-chase-all-criminals-in-nigeria-acting-igp-egbetokun.html

Fans Angry as Burna Boy fails to show up for Netherlands concert Watch video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUv_WG0QIB4 Fans of Burna Boy reacted angrily as the Nigerian star cancelled his show in Netherlands very late in the night. After waiting for hours to see Burnaboy perform in Netherlands, people were shocked that he canceled his show without prior notice and for no conceivable reason Taking to his Instagram handle, Burna Boy posted “ Netherlands! I’m so excited to be here and I was so excited to see you all tonight. “I am constantly humbled and in awe of the love and support I get from you all! “Thank you for coming and waiting just to see us. I will forever appreciate that I’m hurt that I couldn’t see you tonight even though I really wanted to. “We want to make sure you get the best “love Damini” experience possible and that won’t have happened today for a number of reasons. “My amazing team have been hard at work trying to salvage it but we couldnt do it in time. I’ll be announcing a new date in a few hours so watch out for it.” However, the excuse seems not be enough as no reason was clearly stated by Burna Boy. A Nigerian identified as Oluwaseun who attended the show said: “Most people here (at the concert) are students, you made your show rated 6, children waiting in line for 6 hours, the stadium wasn’t even open and queues were long. Burna boy if you had the fame like Wizkid and Davido you would have used everybody’s head to mop the floor.” He further stated that supporters of Burna Boy had to sleep at the train station because there were no more trains as at the time the show was canceled. Another attendee also said: “Burna Boy kept fans waiting for over 5 hours only to postpone his show in Netherland. This is really horrible.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/pmnewsnigeria.com/2023/06/18/fans-angry-as-burna-boy-fails-to-show-up-for-netherland-concert-video/%3famp=1

$800m loan: Nigeria left with no choice but to Borrow – World Bank Director, Chaudhuri Watch video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLgKNEhnGf8 Shubham Chaudhuri, the Country Director World Bank for Nigeria, said Africa’s most populous nation has no choice but to borrow to finance its 2023 budget deficit. Chaudhuri disclosed this during an interview with Channels Television on Saturday, monitored by DAILY POST. The World Bank chief was reacting to its $800 million concessionary loan offered to Nigeria. There have been heavy criticisms from Nigerians and stakeholders concerning the $800 million loan from the world bank amid the country’s rising debt profile hovering around N77 trillion with the addition of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Ways and Means loan. However, Chaudhuri explained that Nigeria has no alternative but to borrow to finance its N10.7 trillion budget deficit. He noted that whether fuel subsidy is removed or not, the country still must approach lenders to fund its deficits. Shubham Chaudhuri, the Country Director World Bank for Nigeria, said Africa’s most populous nation has no choice but to borrow to finance its 2023 budget deficit. According to him, the World Bank’s $800 million is the most affordable for Nigeria now compared to loans from the domestic market, Eurobond or others. “Everyone needs to be clear on the fact that whether Nigeria receive the $800 million world bank loan or not, 2023 Nigeria’s budget is already having a projected deficit of N10.7 trillion, that is if the fuel subsidies are removed by June but if not, the deficit would be N12 trillion or more. The deficits have to be financed; the fact is that Nigeria would be taking more debts to finance its budget deficits. Unfortunately, with revenue still being low as they are, Nigeria has no choice. “The question is how do you finance the deficits? It will reach N10.7 trillion or N12 trillion; our financing is available but other choices exist. You can borrow from the Eurobond market, the domestic market or the Central Bank(Which had happened in the past with the ways and means of financing); all of those sources are quite expensive”, he said. President Muhammadu Buhari last week wrote to the National Assembly seeking approval of the World Bank’s $800 million loan. Earlier, Buhari approved a 2023 budget of N20.51 trillion with a deficit of N10.78 trillion. To reduce the budget deficit, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, had hinted at removing fuel subsidies by the end of June. However, the Ministry later backtracked on the Fuel subsidies removal plan. https://dailypost.ng/2023/05/14/800m-loan-nigeria-left-with-no-choice-but-to-borrow-world-bank-director-chaudhuri/
