On Saturday April 4, Uganda woke up to the gruesome photos of women and men at Elegu border with South Sudan who were pulled out of their houses, beaten and rolled on a muddy ground by security forces under the pretext of enforcing the President’s directives on coronavirus and curfew.

Since March 30 when President Museveni announced the lockdown over Covid-19 pandemic and the night curfew to restrict human movement, security forces comprising Local Defence Unit forces, police, army, and intelligence agencies have been beating up people they accused of defying the order.

He said security forces had used a “heavy-handed approach” to disperse the 31 women, described by Uganda Radio Network as sex workers, and seven men.

“The patrollers kicked doors open and dragged the occupants out, and some fell in the muddy surfaces. Several vlnerable women and a few men were injured in the process.”

Victims reported the incident to their landlady, Beatrice Auma, who took photos of their injuries, Enanga said, adding: “The images went viral.”

The injuries included wounds on the women’s thighs and buttocks apparently from caning — a known practice of the Ugandan security forces.

The security personnel reportedly used iron bars and sticks to beat the people.


The beating of the Elegu women is not an isolated case. Over the last two weeks, a number of similar cases have been reported in other parts of the country.

Davido’s famous girlfriend Chioma, has just tested positive to coronavirus, Newsmag.com.ng reports.

The coronavirus is a global pandemic, which is responsible for the death of over 25,000, with over 550,000 people also reported to have been infected by the virus.

Taking to Instagram moments back, the Nigerian singer revealed that his fiance tested positive to the virus, after he and his associates went for a test on the 25th of March, 2020.

Davido also made it known that his baby his fine, and tested negative to the virus.

The singer revealed that he is currently in isolation, as he advised the public to stay at home, so as to reduce the spread of the virus.

A Nigerian lady who goes by the name Madam Praizzy on social media has accused her parents, Bishop Jude Nkemdilim Chukwumaife and Pastor Favor Agaezi Chukwumaife of anusing her sexually and physically.

A viral video of a Chinese man in Nigeria who was allegedly beaten for having Coronavirus has gone viral and an eyewitness has shared the real reason behind the incident.

In the video that went viral, the Chinese man can be seen lying on the floor injured, before another who was with him, helped him up.

Someone in the background was heard saying he was infected with the virus and this led to many assuming the Chinese man was beaten for allegedly having the Coronavirus.

This assumption has however been debunked by an eye witness, Adeshola, who revealed that the Chinese man gave a driver two hot slaps first, before he was beaten. Adeshola wrote on his social media page;

As the race to find a vaccination to combat coronavirus continues, people in London are being offered £3,500 ($4,600) in Nigerian currency its around N1,679,000 to be infected with a form of the disease.

To find a vaccine for the virus, volunteers in east London are being paid to be intentionally infected with coronavirus and live in quarantine at the Queen Mary BioEnterprises Innovation Centre in Whitechapel.

Willing participants will be injected with two common but much less serious strains of the virus, reports the Daily Star.

According to The Times, willing participants will have to take two weeks off work and will be banned from physical contact with the outside world.

It’s believed that up to 24 people at a time will be paid to be infected with a coronavirus (also known as COVID-19).

The strains, known as 0C43 and 229E, are believed to cause very mild respiratory symptoms. It is hoped that if a vaccine can be developed to combat those milder cases then it could take on coronavirus as well.

On Thursday, Senate Leader, Ajayi Boroffice on the floor of the Senate has lamented the unpreparedness of Nigeria to tackle the outbreak of coronavirus, formally called Covid-19.

He compared the preventive measures that South Africa has put in place with the obvious nonchalance of the Nigerian authorities towards preventing the outbreak.

He said, “When we arrived in South Africa, we were not allowed to leave the aircraft for good 30 minutes. “Officers of the Medical Corps of the South African Army came into the aircraft to screen everybody before we were allowed out of the aircraft.

“When I arrived yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, there was no screening. All we were given was a sheet of paper to indicate whether we were sick…this is very frightening.”
