It is PRIDE, no amount of advice will change anyone that has it. I remember some years back, this same person called me several times just because I asked for a single 100AH battery. Today you need to be at certain level to get his attention. PRIDE. |
The truth is if you have 600w, you are going to get that full wattage briefly at certain time and under certain conditions. The experts here have advised that Oversizing is ok, what I'm not sure of is 200w on top of 600w capacity. I hope one of them can help us here. Cc Mr Niyi, Dmerciful, and others. Namzy: |
Please note this is just to explain what that 75 input voltage means. If I were to use this on a 12v system, I would rather have 2 150w in series than have 3 100w panels. The cc would have less conversion to perform, which equals less heat generated. |
Since the gurus all seem to miss your questions, let me help with the little I know. I want to believe you know the advantage of mppt over pwm. With this detail your cc is a 12v/24v type. 75v is the max input voltage either on 12v or 24v system, and you can put up to 600w ONLY on 24v system. For example, 3 pieces of 100w panels with 22v VOC connected in series will give you 66v. Connecting that to a 12v system would be 12v×25a the cc is rated for, that gives you 300w. Double the panels for a 24v and you maximize it's capacity of 600w. In that case you connect another set of 3 panels in series, you now have 2 strings of 66v each, which you will now connect in parallel. What I'm saying is you can feed 600w panels into that cc ONLY if you are on a 24v system. I don't know of a better way to explain. Phew....these ogas dey try for we o, not everyone has the attributes of a teacher. Anyway I think 10mm cable should do. Namzy: |
Thank you SEEDWOLD, you've just gained a new customer, I will place my order for okro and other things I need. YOU ARE A GOOD SALESPERSON. Seedworld: |
I have a couple of questions on okro sir. How often does it need to be watered, what should spacing be like and how many seeds per hole. Is making ridges a must?. I have been doing soko, tete and ewedu in dry season, now I want to add okro. Thanks @ SEEDWOLD, how many weeks is your okro to first harvest. Ejiod: |
I used a 5 litter paint bucket per plot. I applied urea after 4-5 weeks. My method of application is by mixing with water, urea desolves quickly in water. For this method you must know how many stands you have, that should not be too hard with uniform rolls. Get a plastic cup of about half a liter. If you have a thousand stands for example, you will need to mix a paint bucket of urea with 500 liters. You don't have to look for a large 500 liters container, get a 50 or 25 litters keg, if it's 50 liters it means you have to divide your urea into 10 equal parts, adding one or two liters to cater for spillage should be considered.. Remember to stir very well. Pour directly to the base of the plants, it will not harm them when mixed with water. Remember that I had chicken waste in the soil before I planted. Assuming I didn't have that at the beginning, this is how my fertilizer application should have been, taking into consideration the land minerals had been exhausted before maize planting. 3-4 buckets of NPK buried in ground the way you bury your maize. ( Don't put NPK and maize in the same hole, about 2 inches apart) plus the soil most be moist to help the NPK desolves quickly. This is done at planting or after 2 weeks, but I prefer planting day. Then apply urea at 4-5 weeks as stated above. Now if you clear a bush that you feel is rich in nutrients, but not sure if it can be enough for close to 3 months that the maize needs it for, you can just bypass the application of NPK and only put urea at 4-5 weeks and you will be good, but you might want to increase urea to 1-1/2 per plot. Any other person can put in their contribution Orgym: |
I like 2 things you said, that no matter what you're going to start. Secondly you already have alternative for the rest if you can't sell all fresh. My only suggestion is that you could start with less, maybe one hectare, try to get used to the plant and increase gradually. Fresh maize is just 11 weeks to maturity TeeSha: |
I will be starting another project soon. I haven't been doing anything for a while because I left the former place due to family reasons. I'm currently near Idi-iroko looking for a farm with water source. Apart from the farm produce, I will also be sharing my water pumping system. Anyway I do not mind a joint venture from a serious person. Or if anyone has like one acre with water source, could be well or borehole, there's a lot we could do with that. kunleweb: |

NextDayPP:If you decide to use the higher rated MCB for the same cable, you need to understand that it is a risk and maybe it will make you more vigilant (constantly looking out for any signs of a fire). To prevent a fire, you should use an MCB with a lower amp rating than the cable not higher Messrs Waziri and Richmond, I think you missed the context of my post entirely. I was just trying to make a joke out of it, if anything, I was eager to see more inputs/corrections on Mr Makevele's installation. I quoted myself and copied your post above incase you dont want to go back and read over again. I used the word 'Oga' and said thank you at the end. I can't see where I said anything against you, or maybe my use of English is bad. I AM SORRY. Let me use this opportunity to tell everyone how much this forum has helped me and why I think it is the BEST in entire nairaland. I started in 2010 by buying 200AH battery and a 1kva inverter at Bluegate in Ikeja for my shop following someone recommendation. I plugged my 1.2kva UPS into the outlet of the inverter thinking I needed to regulate the inverter power as I did gen and PHCN, plus I had in excess of 400w constant load. The battery died in a couple of months. I was told at Bluegate my load was too much and that I shouldn't have used the UPS. I didn't care much about the money lost because I was to exited that it actually worked. Bought another battery and took the system home because I could not reduce the load in the shop. That lasted about 2 years because I didn't know I could add panels to it and PHCN was better then. Today, still on 200AH battery, with the help of this forum, the max I put on the battery is 100w This forum has taught me to check device power rating before buying You pro taught me the importance of accessories like breakers, fuses and meters, (even on basic and small systems) so much so now that I have a meter for USB devices like phones. This forum made me know there are DC pumps, and have since ported to DC pumps for my farm use. I could go on and on. Since I came across this thread about 4 years ago, I have done close to 20 small and basic installations for myself and friends, and when some of my friends are ready to go big with 48v systems as they have indicated, I already note down who to call from here to help. Those that will attend to you even when you are buying just a single panel and will not ignore your messages because you are on low budget. I come here to learn not to contribute and will also learn as long as I live, unless telling Mr Dmerciful where to get low AH batteries is a contribution ![]() In agric section on nairaland, everyone wants to get paid for every little info, even though some of them are internet farmers and not practicing, reason this place is my best. You ogas here don't know how much you are valued, you don't. there are hundreds even thousands learning from you secretly. It makes me really sad to see your comments yesterday which was my birthday. Again I am sorry. I wish everyone a fulfilled week. |
Ogas Wazari and S007, please let this rest, even those of us that started yesterday know that cables don't have to get to 'firing' point before breakers come to action. Thank you both for your explanations. #Firing Wazari: |
Itel make terrible phones and batteries, especially the low end ones, just flooding the market with trash. I have bought 3 Android and 2 low end for myself and children in the last 2 years, all different types, all thrash. Have since ported to FERO. |
My brother, I fear. This guy hasn't shown anything here, and all I read on 3 pages is ADD ME!. The question is, why not here?. Artib: |
For anyone in need of low ah batteries. I have 50ah and 100ah to sell. I bought them between February and March for a farm project that didn't work out. The bigger one was meant for domestic use and had been used sparingly since I bought it. That is 2-3 days per week when I visit the farm area. I used it with a 24inch LED TV, one 3watts DC LED bulb and a table rechargeable fan. The lowest I have seen this battery go within the last 4 months is 12.5. The second one (50ah) hasn't been used at all. It was meant for a DC pump in the farm, sadly my partner has a serious financial issue, so can not continue. I want to sell and reinvest back to my small farm, which is where I got the money from. I also have no use for the TV as well, should anyone be interested, the only item I'm taking home is the fan. TV is made by ROYAL, and sold by SIMS nig Ltd, which also sell Samsung products. The 130watts PRIME panel connected to the bigger battery is also for sale. Thanks. Batteries are RITAR. These items are in Idiroko, Ogun state.

If cash won't allow one to buy a complete colony of 1 male 4 females, is there an implication in starting with 1 to 2 females?. Thanks again. |
Thank you for this write up. |
Thank you Mr Niyi for always having time for everyone. NiyiOmoIyunade: |
Thank you, I do appreciate. Dam5reey: |
I have a friend who has a LED TV with adapter (picture below ). The adapter output is 12v-3.2 amps. Technically I believe it would work if connected directly to a 12v battery, but what I would like to know is if the TV can withstand higher voltage when the battery is charging. The same question goes for decoders. I believe this is what a user here meant by repeating on some pages back that he doesn't use inverter, I think for a very small system of a room or room and parlour, it's workable. Thanks in advance

I will suggest you create time to be around the farm from time to time. Your first hand experience is important to help you become the farmer you want to be. Where in Ogun, may I ask. igbsam: |
The women came from Ijoko, not far from Sango in Ogun state. The farm itself is close to the area where bellview crashed late 90s johnnyblaze424: |
I am open to sharing the little I have learned. Irumolesoft: |
All income. I mentioned earlier that I didn't have to clear the portion as I was using it for vegetables from late last year to February this year. After planting, weeding was done twice by me. Below is the breakdown of expenses plus cost of clearing and weeding in the area, assuming I had have to do all those. 1. 2kg of premier seed...........1000 2. 2 paint buckets of urea.,.......1600 3. Clearing. .........4000 4. Weeding (twice) ..........6400 Total. ..............#13,000 Total income ............#57,600 Profit. ......... #44,600 Total income could have reached #70,000, but the good thing is I know WHY it didn't. That is the area to work on next time. My actual target was #80,000. Please don't say I'm taking it too far, remember I keep talking about the timing, if i had planted 2 weeks earlier it could easily be achieved. Curiouscity: |
Like I said, my first harvest was 2nd May. In the early hours of 3rd May, there was rain, so when it was daybreak, I went back to the farm and planted another set of maize, including the remaining 20% area that were to be harvested on the 4th. As I write this, the new plants of maize are 3 weeks old. Pics later. Again it's about timing, the first came 3 weeks ago when the price from farm was good and the new ones will be ready mid July when price of maize would be on the rise again. Price of maize usually comes down to the bottom between mid May through June. It begins to rise again in July. By the way, I sold at 7 for #200, the smaller ones was 8. |
My question when I started this thread was, how much can one make from 2 plots of maize farm. I made 57,600.. I also said I would harvest between 1st and 3rd of May. My harvest was done 2nd and 4th. About 80% on the 2nd, while the remaining 20% was 2 days later. I want to also point out that my 2 plots was about 4 rows by 120f less. I also gave out to a lot of ppl because it was very close to the village. One thing that reduced my income heavily was the attack of birds. I was told by the locals that it was that bad because I was the only one with matured maize around, more so that the area is close to a river and and swamp. I believed the locals submission because it makes sense. |
Hello ppl, sorry for my late response. My previous phone went dead, I placed an order on AliExpress, it took a longer time than expected. |
Good day sir, you just gave another option on something I have in mind. Can I mail you. Thanks sir. youngzoologist: |
This is why I like this forum!. Thank you sir, this goes straight into my book. I will try it and feed you back. Thanks again. elder101: |
