Christianity EtcRe: Origins Of Christianity And Quest For The Historical Jesus Christ by nferyn(m): 11:49am On Oct 26, 2006

Myrad acaheological evidences support the historical accounts in the old and new testament.
Which archaeological or historical evidence is there to support the historical accounts of the old and new testament? There is absolutely no credible evidence in support of a historical Jesus Christ that is even remotely as portrayed in the new testament.
Christianity EtcRe: Is One Religion Superior Or Inferior To Others? by nferyn(m): 1:53pm On Oct 24, 2006
Drusilla:
Religion is just the most successful platform to run a revolution on and so people use it to do so, without really having a love of the religion.
It is actually rather the most successful platform to counter a revolution. Religion is an excellent tool to control and steer the masses, so that they don't rise up against their overlords or take matters into their own hands. After all, one can accept suffering, as long as there is a reward in the afterlife.
RomanceRe: What Is Wrong With Dating Or Marrying An African American Man? by nferyn(m): 10:16am On Oct 19, 2006
Chinani,

As usual you go directly to the heart of the problem
chinani:
None of this information disproves the American class system. For starters, Oprah is not friends with the Rockfellers and probably could not belong to their country club if she tried. She did not have the same educational or professional opportunities because of the class system not despite it. Class works to exclude the majority of resources (incl. opportunities). Oprah succeeded inspite of the existence of a class system not b/c of a non-existent class system.
It's not because the class system works in far more subtle ways than in the past, that it doesn't exist. The usueful exceptions - such as Oprah - only reinforce the myth of the American dream, the from rags to riches illusion.

chinani:
America will continue to have high illiteracy, high teen pregnancy, high unemployment and lack adequate health care (in comparison to the rest of the industrialized world) b/c people are too stuck on nonsense to represent their economic interests!
Such as all those Fox-watching evangelicals that went out to support Bush during the last presidential election. Voting against their interests

chinani:
CLASS MATTERS. Bill Gates is a Richie b/c his family was UPPER (very high upper) MIDDLE/lower upper class. Even he will tell you that.
As for the entertainers, well they are just that, entertainers, they are still the proletariat. I don't think the Jackson's even own their own Masters. But really, I hate to speak of the Jackson's; I consider them a portrait of Black Self Hate so I will say no more.
And how many of these squander their weath in ill-conceived illusions of grandeur? Trying to fit into a class they will never be accepted in? Approprating the external symbols of wealth while still being excluded from the upper class. Rich they are, wealthy most definitely not.

chinani:
As for Jay-Z. He is just another worker bee. There's the theorist, Gramci who says that the 'ruling class' rules by enslaving the thoughts of man not his body. In other words, the ruling class indoctrinates the proletariat (working class). Jay Z is a classic case of this. He 'made it' and the best he can do is rep Roberto Cavelli and other white status (i.e. class) symbols. If anything, he reinforces (a white class structure) to black people. He's a useful idiot (along w/ other rappers/athletes) as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe he's the real modern day image of Uncle Tom? Not to me to decide, but it very much looks that way

chinani:
The success of these "make it good" icons is comprable to a the success of a few streams of river water making it throw a dam (by decree of the 'dam watcher') in order to preserve the structural integrity of the dam (class system) itself.
If anything, the US has got the least social mobility of all industrialised countries. A recent study by the London School of Economics just shows that much.

chinani:
If anything the commodification of our lives (or is it self-esteem) is the true American Pathology.
Yes and many Americans considere the customary yearly 6-8 weeks of Holiday in Europe as pathological laziness. Sad really.
TV/MoviesRe: I Need A Digital Video Camera by nferyn(m): 9:24pm On Oct 18, 2006
You better focus on your lighting, sound and editing skills than on the quality of the camera. You can still get a very decent result from an old VHS camcorder, as long as you take care of a proper setup of your shots. If you want to save time - and in the long run money - get yourself a DV camcorder, an external microphone and make sure that you always have a properly lit shot. Especially if you're shooting inside, make sure you've got enough extra light on the scene.
HealthRe: CSA-54: A Possible Cure For HIV/AIDS! by nferyn(m): 10:39am On Oct 16, 2006
Sista:
@To All

When the researchers came up with the Aids Virus in the first place, they already had a cure.
There are no cures to viral infections. The mutation rate of viruses is just too high to come up with a cure. treatment is mainly symptomatic. There is currently no way to control virusses, except for preventive vaccinations.

Sista:
They are most likely not going to introduce the cure until they get rid of the people they were trying to get rid of with the AIDS virus in the first place.
You're too high on your conspiracy theories.

Sista:
Or, they may introduce the cure if their kind of people start dying wide spread but even then, the cure will be a secret that will stay a secret until they get rid of the people they are trying to get rid of.
Yeah, right and Santa Clause lives on the north pole.
Car TalkRe: Picture of your Car by nferyn(m): 10:22am On Oct 16, 2006
SeyiJay:
First, to Nferyn. For u to have used all those cars u showed [impression], i don't think u need any personal car, considering the rate at which u changed them.
As I mentioned before, most of them have been company cars and I'm not in control over the rotation speed - and also have only limited choice in what I get. Anyway, just changed work and I'm getting a new car again, probably an Audi A4 break or VW Passat break - still in negotiation.
Christianity EtcRe: Atheism Is An Act Of Ignorance , True Of False Or ? by nferyn(m): 8:53pm On Oct 15, 2006
freelance:
Sometimes i wonder why people will just decide or rather believe there in no God or GOD does not exist.
Because there is no credible evidence in favor of God, maybe?

freelance:
Sometimes i think maybe it is the highest level of ignorance or maybe the highest level of stupidity.
And what incredible applications of logic may have led you to that conclusion. You might check your thought process yourself before you come up with these kind of ideas

freelance:
What do you think about athesist.
That, on average, they're more intelligent than theists.

freelance:
Someone once said that everybody should believe in something but when you don't believe in anything shocked! I simply can't comprehend that one.
And who then doesn't believe in anything? Atheists? Is God the only thing that can be called something?

freelance:
What is your mind about this. Kindly share it on this thread.
I advise you to open yours and think about what you wrote.

Exactly, God is unfalsifiable. Pointless to even try to prove his existence.

Sure some races have a superiority complex.
Some individuals have a superiority complex. You'll definitely find more whites with a superiority complex, but that doesn't mean that all whites feel superior or that some blacks cannot have a superiority complex.

mo money:
interracial marriage? huh ok, that's if the parents are in support because there's always a superiority complex
You mean that you would let racist society dictate your life?
RomanceRe: Interracial Marriages: Good Or Bad by nferyn(m): 9:49am On Sep 26, 2006
Being in one, I can definately say it's good.
You must be aware of the fact that interracial marriages on average are probably harder than non-interracial marriages. Those difficulties are more related to culture than to race though. Both partners must be willing to understand and respect each other's culture and show a willingness to compromise on that issue. This will become especially important when children are involved
PoliticsRe: Are Presidential Elections Necessary For Africa? by nferyn(m): 11:48pm On Sep 23, 2006
JosBoy4Lif:
nferyn You do raise some interesting points about the validity of parliamentary system. I think that this system works well when the majority of a nation is working towards a set objective. But if people hold different and entirely radical views, the conflict will definately escalate due to the division of powers. There will be no absolute and at times and absolute is required.
In that case pillarisation is a possible solution. just look at the development of the parliamentary systems in Belgium and the Netherlands. Society was deeply divided on ideological grounds, yet they managed to have a functioning system of government
EducationRe: Affirmative Action by nferyn(m): 9:58pm On Sep 23, 2006
JosBoy4Lif:
Reverse discrimination =====> was all my prof could say when the topic of AA came up.
I then asked him how do we then tackle the problem if we cannot use quotas due to reverse discrimation?
Most whites are ignorant when it comes to their privileged position. We (whites that is) are just hardly ever confronted with the reality of deviating from the implicit norm.

JosBoy4Lif:
Its blatent that the western culture is set-up to favour the white male, but at times it can get redundant when people cry racism.
It's mainly ignorance, but also fear of losing privilege.
PoliticsRe: Are Presidential Elections Necessary For Africa? by nferyn(m): 9:48pm On Sep 23, 2006
JosBoy4Lif:
So you are attempting to say that a parliamentary system would be more adequate for \Africa?
This may be true inasmuch as the the rigging does not stem down to even the oppositional parties.
I actually believe that proportional parliamentary systems are better for all countries, not just for Africa. The rigging can and will happen regardless of which system is chosen, only in a proportional system, the 'loser' will still be represented. There's far more chance that the system cleans itself out that way. It's also a safeguard against the evil of redistricting and flawed counting systems.

JosBoy4Lif:
But yes this would be i wiser move so as to redistribute political power more evenly to other parties.
My only bone of contention is the level of conflict this system would cause between rival parties
There's far more chance of violence resulting from a non-proportional system. Conflict is the name of the political game, as long as it's non-violent and the rules of the game are adhered to and accepted by the participants, this shouldn't be problematic
PoliticsRe: Are Presidential Elections Necessary For Africa? by nferyn(m): 8:40pm On Sep 23, 2006
It really depends on what kind of power the president really has. A presidential system, where the president can choose who's part of the executive branch (such as in the US) can only work if a strong civil society is in place and when there's a strict separation of powers between the local and national levels of government.

Maybe a presidential system where the president has more of a moral role and an actual executive one would be preferable. Most presidents in Africa have way too much power and their power is not balanced by the power of the other levels and/or branches of governement.

Oops, typo. I meant to write nutcase, of course

KDK:
Neways, Amongst those listed, could you please classify the scientists into these three groups?
1. BELIEVERS IN A CREATOR
2. NON BELIEVERS IN A CREATOR.
3. CONTROVERSIALS.
Let's go along (for the ones I know about, at least)
Charles Darwin: 3, controversial (was theist in the beginning, later in life he leaned more to an atheist worldview)
Isaac Newton: definitely 1
Einstein: 3, possibly 2
Maxwell: no idea
Niels Bohr: no idea
Karl Popper: definitely 2

KDK:
P.S,
I have my reasons for asking; reasons I presume you have already deduced. wink
I understand you must have your reasons, I don't see where you're heading, though. Anyway, this is highly intriguing, so I'll play along wink
