@ Nferyn

I think you have analyzed it quite well. But to be honest with you, her posts arent even amusing to me at all. Nutter has surmarized it well saying Drusilla has nothing to contribute to intelligent discourse.
I can understand that it can be annoying as this kind of discourse can reflect badly on other black people. It's over the top and close to a cultlike mindset sometimes.

alarinjo:
Now if you didnt know other African Americans you would think she was representative of black people in general, but I happen to work in an academic environment and interact with several African American colleagues and know that she is quite on the fringe.
No doubt, that's also why I want to look at her contributions in context. What I can imagine is the effect on people that cannot properly distance themselves from the personal implications of that discourse.
I know she tolerates me because I usually say (what she considers) the right things. On the other hand, I have the distinct impression that in principle, she doesn't approve of my kind (whites that mingle with blacks).

alarinjo:
Perhaps my lack of patience for her gibberish is because I already know the agenda behind her discourse.
I don't fully see the agenda. What I do see though is a high level of disrespect for African cultures as opposed to an idealised (black) African Culture. Yesterday, I watched a tape of the ceremonies of the Igue Festival at the Palace of the Oba of Benin (my wife's Edo) and I shudder at the comparison she made between the African gang culture and the different African nations. Brushing away cultures with hundereds, if not thousands of years history as irrelevant doesn't really give her arguments much credibility, except among simpletons, such as our beloved superman

You are a troublesome one, you! cheesy
Are you picking a fight? You know you'll have to deal with Argument, Mr. Argument. Are you really ready for that? Remember, you don't have the power to change my username.

I think this thread is the funniest so far. Argument, how long have you had this name? grin grin grin

OMG I'm still on the floor laughing my little ass off. grin grin
Only since today. Couldn't he have found out that I was argumentative way before today. Our moderator is getting really lazy. He doesn't even have time insulting me over email anymore. Seun, please give me some more attention grin grin
I'll even propose some more usernames to you, radiant celestial body.

Nferyn,

It doesn't matter what name you have here, you are one cool guy and have lots of respect for you.Drusilla is a strange woman,I use to think that she was a Louis Farrakhan disciple but am not so sure now.Drusilla's only problem is she never concedes defeat no matter how badly beaten her idea is,she drives me crazy but got to admit she's fun.
Thanks for the compliments, I too have welcomed the infusion of intelligent arguments when you entered the board. It's just a shame Seun already chased away far too many people that I enjoyed talking to (especially crippling the PM's and turning them in Seun Radio Broadcast 1 (aka Admin messages) was a bad move).

Drusilla seems to be extremely defensive and she sometimes muddies the waters with vague arguments. It's difficult to carry a discussion to it's completion because she never goes all the way in this kind of discussion. I wonder how quickly she would corner herself when discussing melanin theories (her mentioning the Isis Papers gives me a clue though). that's probably why she started to avoid touching anything that could be related to science.

You're Igbo and probably don't know your place in the the Divine order of all things Seun's. I hope you haven't mentioned Biafra or things don't bode well for you. Know what to expect grin grin

Nutter:
In what context would you put her assertion that African nation states (many of which are several million strong and have cultural traditions dating back thousands of years) are no different from the Bloods and the Crips in America? What would be the ‘proper’ context of this statement?
If I were in your shoes, I would have done exactly the same as you did and demand an appology. I don't really feel I am in a position to enter this debate heads on, Nigerians are far better placed than I am to tackle this issue.
I could also have countered her debating point on Rwanda, as the way she presented it just show a complete lack of understanding of the cultures and context involved (e.g. the conflicts between herders and farmers in East-Africa predates European involvement by centuries) and the support for the Tutsi's by Europeans (Belgium in this case) stopped imediately after independence, the opposite was rather the case (the involvement of the Belgian royal family and the Roman Catholic Church cannot be underestimated). The RPF was mainly supported by Uganda for their earlier support to Museveni.

Hey, I'm offended. Am I that transparent wink grin

Just saw your little bio. I've been off here for a while. Why the name change?
Our Uebermaster deemed it necessary to rob me of my identity. DaFuehrer would be an appropriate name for him, wouldn't it, or maybe Bismarck? Or Napoleon, isn't he vertically challenged as well? You'll never know what's cooking with his incrutibleness.

Drusilla isnt eager to learn nada, she is eager to school "naive" Nigerians in the intricacies of a warped narcisistic version of Afrocentricism.
And that's precisely why her thinking falls squarely into the classical dualistic European philosophical tradition. So willing to distance herself from those Europeans while using the intellectual toolbox of 18th and 19th century Europe to do so.
She's not entirely consistent to say the least, but at least she's interesting to discuss with (although quite oblivious to African historical accomplishments at times)
Yes she is. If one's interest lies in frivolity.
I learn quite a lot about the mindset of strongly Afrocentric African-Americans. She usually takes a strong position when it comes to the historical culpability of Europeans, but is incapable of understanding the diversity and nuance of the African reality.
What strikes me most is that her preceptive and interpretative framework is:
1. As American is it can possibly be
2. More European than most Europeans are nowadays. The strong platonian dualism has long been discredited in Europe, only in The US does it still seem to be 'en vogue'. It introduces a naive idealism that completely disregards reality. It's the makable society at it's worst, sometimes can do just can't.

To her credit, I must say that she is willing to read up on what I post and that she has brought me some interesting, informative and thought provoking things to read. As long as you know where she's coming from (and of course, that's only her online persona), you can put things in the proper context.

Hello Nutter, I don't think we have ever chatted, but it is good to find someone else on here who can see a fraud for what they are!
My brother, Drusilla needs (our) special attention. We must remain watchful. wink
She's not entirely consistent to say the least, but at least she's interesting to discuss with (although quite oblivious to African historical accomplishments at times)

Why question that fact that our great leader has deemed Chxta worthy of a banning. Alas, the great vessel of this incorporeal electronic state has not deemed me worthy of such a treatment. I have only been stolen of my identity, now serving the community as Mr. Argument.

When will the admin get off his cloud and take something that gets him of his powertrip. His divine whimsicalness needs to get off the magic mushrooms and take the red pill.
