Ore: A Town Without Road

Ore, is an ancient city in Ondo State. It is the capital city of Odigbo Local government in Ondo State. Ore is a lagos of its kind in Ondo State. It is indeed the commercial nerve centre of  Ondo State. The community is populated by people from different communities with different languages across the 36 states of Nigeria.

Despite being a commercial nerve centre, with booming business activities, the community has remained stagnated without developments; and without roads. When I say without roads, it is not as if there are no roads. But  I mean there are no motorable roads.

As I speak, no street in Ore is motorable apart from the road leading to the house of  Hon. Iroju Ayodeji, a former commissioner and a serving member of Ondo State House of Assembly who recently used his influence to tar the street leading to his private house. All other roads within the township are awfully deplorable. The situation is terrible. The condition is so bad to the extent that the road in OSHODI OKE, in the old Lagos State many years ago  are far better than the road in Ore township presently.

From history, previous government from all level,  both civilian and military, abandoned the town in the areas of basic amenities and developmental projects for reasons not yet ascertained. Why past local government chairmen in Odigbo local government remained indifference to this situation for many years, is not also  known as at the time of writing this little piece.

I still don't know the prime cause of this painful neglect which has left the town in horrible situation. But I hope and pray, that the incoming government in 2017 will see to the situation of this town by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

DINO VS REMI TINUBU: APC AND AFRICA MAGIC SCENARIO

By Abimbola Olawumi Olajumoke-Adeniyi

I've consciously restrained myself from making comments
on this Senators Remi/Dino' saga because I always want to
stand and protect the rights of women, but at this junction,
we should call a spade a spade.
The Stance of my APC friends on this issue is very annoying
and if there's anything I detest about APC, it's hypocrisy. If
Nigeria doesn't kill hypocrisy, hypocrisy will kill Nigeria.
Senator Dino is a personality that's very popular for his
intermittent display of the five minutes madness syndrome,
right from his days as a member of the House of Rep. This
was well celebrated by the APC and he was a Hero during
the GEJ era!
Senator Remi Tinubu on the other hand was the First lady of
Lagos State for eight years and she returned to the Senate
for a second term, not forgetting her husband has been in
the corridors of power from time immemorial. For a
personality in her position, who has been a VIP for a long
time, her unruly behaviour in the Senate is not only
worrisome, uncalled for, but a disgrace to whatever she
represent. Haba, is she the only woman senator in the
Senate? From Obanikoro, to Saraki, to Ekwermadu and now
Dino, in sane Clime's, people would have demanded for her
resignation.
There's time for everything. If she desired to be the Senate
President, she should wait for her time. Lagos belongs to the
Tinubus', so if she's willing, she can return to the Senate
every four years like Senator David Mark, until she becomes
the SP. She should be cautioned, because to every action,
there's an equal and opposite reaction. Everyone cannot be
a gentleman like Saraki, Obanikoro and the rest. If she has
an unruly tongue, somebody possess an unruly behaviour.
Hers is the first case of a woman throwing all caution into
the wind as a legislator in Nigeria. She should be a good
Ambassador of her party, the womanhood and her husband
who's a National leader of their party.
My grandmother once told me a story..... My grandfather
was the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti.... The Late Anirare Aladesanmi. She
said there was a particular day, a boy and his parents were
brought to the Palace to be punished for insulting the king.
On getting to the Ewi, a man who will never justify the
wicked nor punished the innocent, asked that the boy
should be given the opportunity to speak before he
pronounces judgement on him and his family. The boy
began by telling the gathering how the Prince (the Ewi' son,
who were worshipped like gods those days) started by
insulting and cursing his father, the boy reiterated that when
he couldn't withstand the abuse on his father, he too cursed
the father of the Prince. The Ewi asked his son if the boy lied
and the Prince responded that he was the first to curse the
boy's father. My grandfather told the gathering that a father
is a father, king or not, that since his son was the first to
curse another person' father, the boy too possess the right
to curse the Prince' father, irrespective of who the father
may be. He asked that the boy and his family be released
while his son should be severely dealt with, for having the
effrontery to insult the father of the boy. She said,
thereafter, no Prince or Princess dared go out of the Palace
to misbehave.
Morals: If the King had praised his son and punished the boy
and his family, other Princes and Princesses would have
followed suit. Till date, the Aladesanmis are well respected
wherever they are mentioned or appear.
At a time in this country, Patience Jonathan was a
personality the APC insulted and ridiculed everyday. GEJ
never reacted to qny insult on him and his family. Someone
even called her Shepopotamus and the APC celebrated him,
what goes around comes around.
Imagine poking her hand in the face of a colleague,
someone's husband and father! If we continue to celebrate
this, it's a disgrace to womanhood. A woman of her calibre
should be reserved, cool&calculated, comported, a role
model and not confrontational, impatient, violent or
provocative.
Senator Bola Tinubu should caution her, because a child that
goes out insulting other people's parents (Yoruba's call them
Omo atiro) will succeed in taking curses and insults back to
his parents. Respect is reciprocal, so is insults and violence!
The APC on the other hand should save the country, this
dramas and national embarrassments. Nigerians are hungry
and not bored. Enough of the Nollywood, Africa Magic
scenarios between the Executive and the Legislative. Instead
of addressing the economic woes of the country, the ruling
party is engaged in disgraceful power tussle, from inception
till date.
It's glaring Nigerians made the greatest mistake of the
century, the day they adopted this negative party, with
negative change, offering negative solutions to the
challenges of the country.
Senator Dino Melaye, get a medical expert on the treatment
to your five minutes madness malady. It's becoming
unbecoming.
Wetin be my own sef?
Eran Oba lo mu isu Oba je.

That is the reward we got from a purported agent of change call APC. Jonanthan prophecies have come to pass. He warned nigerians against voting for APC and its presidential candidate but we did not listen because of corruption in that government. We only look at the weakness in the government. We were blind to his achievement. I have no regret anyway cos I do not actually voted for this government.

What Is Wrong With Nigeria?

It's a terrible situation for workers not to be paid for several months in some states in nigeria. It's an act that must be condemned by all. But let's put sentiments apart, who is the problem? Were things like this before? Were things so bad like this before in this country? What has suddenly gone wrong to the extent that federal workers are no longer getting regular and consistent salary. Their salary now enter second months while some unpopular MDAs are even owing. APC government is the cause of our sufferings. They seem to have lost grip and understanding of the economy. Yet, the president refused to appoint some economy experts as adviser. Things are so bad to the extent that Robbers now invade houses with the aim to steal food items. More than 15 states in naija have gone on strike while labour union in some states just called off their industrial action. Are the governors also d cause? It wasn't so bad like this under GEJ. Industries are folding up. Giant companies including Dangote and others are loosing money. Foreign investors are leaving the country. It shows that APC led federal government is the source of our problems and not state governors. If banks could slash salary by 50% and reduce staff strength by 40%, it's obvious that the problem is from the centre. Nigerians are not addressing the problem but the issue. APC have put this nation under bondage. By Olumide Akinrinlola
PoliticsAn Open Letter To Gov Olusegun Mimiko by NFFGG(op): 4:11pm On Jul 17, 2016
AN OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR OLUSEGUN MIMIKO

Your Excellency,

Without mind-numbing you sir, being one of your fans, an ardent supporter of your administration and a member of our great party, PDP., from Ondo State, I am writing this open letter to advise your Excellency over the rumour making the round to retain the governorship ticket of people’s Democratic Party, (PDP), in Ondo central senatorial district of ondo State in this forth coming gubernatorial election in our dear state.

Our people from Ondo south senatorial district of this state have been inundated that your Excellency with his kitchen cabinet held a meeting recently and it was decided to pick the gubernatorial candidate of our party, PDP, from Akure, the same senatorial district where your Excellency hails from. It was also rumoured that, barr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), had been adopted as the anointed candidate to fly the party’s flag in this coming governorship election in November this year.

We know your Excellency will be more interested in winning this forth coming election for our great party, PDP as before. Sir, permit me to pass a vote of confidence on you. We trust your political judgment and wisdom. We believe in your political calculation and formula. The entire Ondo South senatorial district has never for once doubted your win-win political formula; and we have never betrayed you in any election because we always speak in one voice which you can attest to. All these were made possible, not because you have political witchcraft, or because you are the wisest among all the previous contestants. But because you are the first chosen anointed governor of Ondo State. You are the first person who was actually anointed by GOD to govern Ondo State and that is why the grace of God on you is without limitation. So, it was not by your power sir, but by the grace of God which is sufficient for you.

This time around, you will be leaving office in February 2017. This means you are not contesting again. It may no longer be business as usual. The grace you carry, others might not carry it. What was working for you by the grace of God might not work for others. The assumption that the central is having the highest number of registered voters might not work. While considering where to pick the party’s candidate, some salient questions must be asked. Such as: what is PDP membership strength in the area of consideration? What is the recent electoral history of the area? Are the people of the area reliable and dependable? How many grass root politicians available in the area being considered by our party? Is 90% residents of the area of consideration indigenes of the said area or they are from different local governments and communities cos political sentiment is also a factor people consider in casting votes nowadays to avoid marginalization.

Your Excellency, I want to believe that it is a mere rumour that you have settled for Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), an indegene of Akure who is also from your senatorial district. It is my advice that you seek the face of GOD before taking final decision on this important issue which can make or mar the future our great party in Ondo State.

I want to reliably inform you that all the aspirants in PDP from Ondo South and Ondo north had held a meeting and resolved in one accord to pull out of PDP and team up with any other political party of their choice if Ondo central is made to produce the party governorship candidate for the second time.

Our people in Ondo north and Ondo south are keenly waiting for your unbiased decision which always devoid of sentiment and injustice as the leader of our great party in Ondo State. I also want to remind you that in Ondo south, PDP is not divided. We speak in one voice anytime we take decision on matters of great importance like this. The leaders of our party should also know that failure is not in our electoral history from time to time. There is no half measure while taken decision to work for our great party. And such will never arise if we seek the face of God very well and remove sentiment in this matter of great importance.

Once again, we advise your Excellency to seek the face of God and allow the will of God to prevail in this matter. I also pray for your Excellency that you will not commit mistakes and errors that could mark the end of PDP in Ondo State in Jesus name.

Thank you and God bless you sir.

FG To Appeal Ruling on Electricity Tariff

My take!

On whose side is this federal government of change under APC? Was APC government installed to protect the interest of the masses or to protest it? Why is FG planning to appeal a court ruling that has brought relief to the masses who were being oppressed by the electricity tariff hike? Did APC come to add to our hardships or to lighten our burden? It seem I need to relocate from Nigeria and come back in 2019 after the tenor of this current administration would have expired. Ondo Guber Poll: Brief Appraisal Of ALL The PDP Aspirants In Ondo State

Aspirants for the governorship ticket of the PDP in Ondo State include the following:

1.Chief Sola Ebiseni
2.Senator Remi Okurinboye 3.Gbenga Elegbeleye
4.Prince Nekan-Olateru Olagbegi,
5.Bamiduro Dada,
6.Dare Emiola,
7.Dayo Fadahunsi,
8.Adedayo Omolafe,
9.Dare Bada,
10.Debo Ajimuda,
11.Benson Amuwa.
12. Egnr Niyi Ogunwa Oboli
13.Otunba Bamidele Akingboye
14. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN)

See below brief assessment of these people one after the other.

1. Chief Sola Ebiseni

This man is a grass root politician from Ilaje LGA. He is competent and has the political experience to govern Ondo State. He is very popular among his people but his popularity is not spread across Ondo south senatorial district neither does he has large followership across the southern part of the State. Among those aspirants from Ondo South as at today, he is the most serious and most popular among them. But financially, he is not strong enough. He needs financial back up before he could extend his structure across the 18 local government of Ondo State. Chief Ebiseni is also an experienced politician that cannot be ignored. He needs just little cash to build on the existing structure and popularity of PDP in the southern part of this state to propagate his campaign across the 18 local government of the State. Being the only serious minded aspirant from ondo south, Chief Ebiseni has become a threat to other aspirants. But that will only happen if only the leadership of PDP in Ondo South could give him the massive support and speak in one voice as usual.

2. Senator Remi Okunriboye

This man is a senator of the federal republic of nigeria in the old dispensation of the political history of Ondo State. He is a grassroot politician from Owo LGA. He is also two times governorship aspirant in Ondo-State. He is well known by his people from his senatorial district but his popularity does not spread across the 18 LGAS of Ondo State. Inside the enlarge PDP in Ondo State, his influence is limited. He also needs resources to advance his ambition of becoming the candidate of PDP. The Akoko people may not support his ambition because of tribalism and political sentiment of Akoko agenda.

3.Gbenga Elegbeleye

He is a grassroot politician from Akoko in Ondo north senatorial district of Ondo State. He is very serious and committed PDP Aspirant who cannot be ignored. He is the most serious PDP Aspirants from Ondo north as at today. He has the influence politically and financially. He remain an opinion leader in Akoko. He needs little financial support to pursue his ambition. He has the structure, forces and supporters he can use to grow his ambition. He may likely become a threat to other aspirants as well. Only if, PDP in Ondo north could give him an undivided supports. Money might not also be a problem for him because of his exposure as well.

4. Eyitayo Jegede. (SAN)

This man is very rich. He has influence and friends across nigeria who could assist him realise his ambition. He is very new in PDP and indeed not a grass root politician. He was brought into the system by gov. Olusegun Mimiko from Adamawa state to join member of the Ondo- State cabinet. He is very reserved like Mimiko. He isn't a talkative. He is brilliant and knows the law of the land. He is very good in the legal field like chief Wole Olanipekun. No wonder he is very influential in nigeria and skillful; he came as a professional lawyer and later, he developed himself to a politician in the state. He is from Akure city, thesame central senatorial district with gov Mimiko. He is a close ally and a confidant to the governor. He has leveraged on the support of gov Mimiko to propagate his ambition and penetrated the leadership of the party across board in Ondo State. He is a smart man. Being the favoured one by the governor, he has enjoyed widespread supports from leadership of PDP in Ondo State. But some angry leaders in Ondo south and Ondo north have prepared to disappoint barr Jegede due to the governor's stance to retain the Alagbaka seat in Ondo central. Some of the leaders have plotted to frustrate the idea of producing another governor from Ondo central for the second time. But barr Jegede might scale through if he play his card very well. Most especially the way the governor is using his influence to clear the hurdles for him. The Akure people are also not united as some of their leaders are not happy with the young lawyer being a preferred choice of Mr Governor because they see him as a newcomer. Mr Jegede has no political power of his own. His popularity is spreading very fast like Ebola virus. This is because his popularity is being generated from that of the governor. Though he has the financial resources with supports from powerful Nigerians in other part of the country being a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who had worked for some powerful politicians across Nigeria in the past.

5. Adedayo Omolafe

He is a politician whose popularity spread across his senatorial district but his followership is limited to Akure alone. He is also not financially buoyant. His chances are very slim because 90% supports have be given to barr Jegede who is from his area.

6. Other Aspirant

Other aspirants who were not appraised herein are either not serious, or working towards selfish desire of becoming deputy governor. Some of them even lack the quality and political charisma while some are only looking for cheap popularity.
