way the acting CJN is embarrassing poroye's
lawyer over abuse of court processes |

Filing of notice of appeal at supreme court does not prevent appeal court panel from adjudicating over the matter before them. Supreme court merely confirmed receipt of appeal court proceedings and filing of motion of appeal with motion for stay of proceeding by Jimoh ibrahim, the date that supreme court will hear the motion or argument has not even been fixed by supreme court. How does that result to an order or a ruling that prevent the appeal panel from dispensing judgement in a case before them. Why is it that Justice Abang of Abuja high court did not stop from adjudicating upon sheriff's case despite the notice of appeal file by Jegede then? I am surprised to see educated people online rejoicing that jimoh ibrahim has frustrated jegede ova appeal court case. How could educated people be interpreting an ordinary acknowledgement letter issued to jimoh ibrahim by supreme court registrar to confirm receipt of his motion of appeal at the court as a court order obtained to stop the appellate court from doing its constitutional work. Can a court registrar usurp the power of a Judge? The letter jimoh and his people are circulating online is an ordinary acknowledgement of his motion of appeal by the apex court of the land. I expect my people to have known jimoh ibrahim very well. Those that know him very well will never listen to him let alone reposing confidence in his word. For avoidance of doubt, appeal court panel is sitting tomorrow to conclude the substantive appeal filed by Jegede, whereby all parties were ordered by the panel to come and adopt their brief of argument tomorrow. The case is likely to be dispensed off before the end of this week. We shall all know the truth sooner than later. My people should relax and stop believing rumors and propaganda. |
