RomanceRe: Would You Ever Date A Jewish Person? by ngak: 7:40am On May 03, 2015
Sterilisation and birth control are 2 very different things. We're the Ethiopians given without their consent....Halima your link does not say or is it that when they went for family planning, that was offered to them?
HealthRe: NMA Strike Suspended? by ngak: 4:43am On Aug 08, 2014
I am aware that a number of Drs have gone for training as regards this ebola but have refused to start seeing patients until safety checks protecting them and thier families can be put in place.
HealthRe: NMA Strike Suspended? by ngak: 4:39am On Aug 08, 2014
It would be irresponsible of the Lagos Doctors to resume strike to work with Ebola victims unless they have protective gear and housing which can serve as quarantine for them while battling this. They should not be made to put in a hard days work then go home to their families and expose them to infection. Those tending to the Ebola victims should not be made to see other patients. Otherwise what is seemingly contained can become widely spread
PoliticsRe: Lagos State Recalls All Sacked Doctors by ngak: 12:49am On Jun 07, 2012
It is only the well fed that risk their lives elsewhere. If you check the background of the volunteers, you will see highly paid jobs and nice pension plans,.....besides all fields and not just medical can go to war torn areas to help......bUt I bet we won't see you running there Mr igbo man because of one thing....self preservation......unless u think the doctor has more to offer than you
Secondly, the only person that will feel inferior to a doctor in the profession is one that is not well versed in his/ her field..........a professional nurse, lab scientist, technician, radiographer etc will always be respected and their opinions sought.....you guys keep pitying the mediocres......
Free that one......
Most doctors go into medicine for love, but they still got bills to pay......so don't think they will allow anyone trivialise their cash....
Everyone knows that there's no romance without finance

The government signed an agreement in nov 2009 by the HOS and this was buttressed by another signed in 2011 march by tinubu, acn party chief and the commisioner of health on behalf of the government......those two papers have been presented on numerous tv programmes and is currently being reviewed by the industrial court
If you havent seen them then you havent been paying attention
Now the doctores are back to being striking doctors, i hope they do not back down till they get. What was agreed
I can see the government in an attempt to RENEGE yet again is putting the sack as the issue and not the dishonored agreement
A dishonorable government cannot last long. Fashola loyalist......following a person without watching his actions and telling him when he is wrong is like being a zombie. If you raise a child withouit honesty and critism, you will have an adult that is a problem to you

This piece is pure propaganda. The Drs begging is nonsense. The 84 private hospitals is either a lie or the whole government declarations that all the hospitals are working is is a fat lie.
Time will tell
Let them print the names of hospitals rather than rant
HealthRe: Sacked Lagos State Doctors Head To Court by ngak:
Yesterday, in Ifako Ijaye GH. 2 doctors were operating on a patient when one suddenly passed out. The other did what he could but of course the patient died. Will Lagos State say anything about this, NEVER.....Lagos is working, fashola is trying,Lagosians are dying. Anyway from what I'm hearing, igbobi, luth, yaba psychiatric and fmc ebutte metta are striking from tomorrow. Na to pray,be careful and watch drama and smile
PoliticsRe: Lagos: ‘why Doctors Were Fired’. by ngak: 11:19am On May 16, 2012
The rumor mills are spinning. Apparently plans are being put in place to privatise Lagos health sector....if that is the truth then no more cheap healthcare for Lagosians............Fashola is working.........lagos is spending..........then one will have to pay the nonsense striking drs our cash as they will be cheaper in their so called private hospitals......that my friends would be the definition of IRONY
PoliticsRe: Lagos: ‘why Doctors Were Fired’. by ngak: 8:57am On May 12, 2012
Propaganda in action. I thought lagos state had 1100 doctors......fired 788.........has employed 372 where are the 784 on ground working from, (he sacked doctors.......I went to randle to see for my self to find out that 2 doctors were coverind the entire hospital
Think what you may, but lagos state needs to be honest with us about the situation on ground as we are the ones going to the hospitals
HealthRe: Normalcy Returns As New Lagos Doctors Resume by ngak: 1:29pm On May 11, 2012
373 is propaganda. In reality 97 were hired. I am currently in lasuth and am yet to see anyone that resembles a doctor

Update from Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Jan 2012!!

Total No of Doctors Produced in Nigeria Since independence 52years Ago. = 42,575!

Those on Register currently=22,000!! Meaning 20,575 are either out of d country, dead or in different profession!!

Out of the 22,000 registered, 12,821 are in Private Practice! 9,179 are working with Government all over the 36 states in d Country!! 9179 minus Luth 800= 8,379,- 1,051 UCH =7328,- 602 UNIPORT=6726,- 587 NSUkkA =6,139,- 440 ABU Zaria,=5699,- 312 UNIMAID =5,387, - 217Unilorin =5,170, -302 UniBen =4868, - 76 Uthman Dan Fodio sokoto=4792, - 1532 in all Federal Medical Centres=3260, - 219 great IFe=3,041"""""""""""""""""""". A total of 3041 are been shared by d 36 states Governments,
If Lagos state employs abt 800 then d remaining 35 states including Abuja shared 2241!! Less than 80Doctors per State per Average!!

So from where will they get new doctors to replace the very experienced ones they have sackedhuh?

Lagos govt is deceiving and killing Lagos people!! Liars presenting corper doctors as new recruits, expecting a corper of 2weeks experience to do d work of a consultant of 20years standing!! Its like sacking Wole Olanipekun and then asking a fresh lawyer from law school to go nd do his work!! It can't just Work!!!!

Why does Gov Fashola pay Lagos Judges higher than the Federal ones, yet he says he can't pay Doctors like Federal..is it because he is a SAN?...

CONMESS is the minimum wage salary scale for doctors across Nigeria just like the general N18,000..., lecturers scale, teachers scale and others

Lagos govt SIGNED an agreement to pay this minimum doctors wage last year but is now claiming they don't have enough money to pay

Why enter into an agreement because of election and upon being elected fail to keep it.
HealthRe: Lagos Sacks Striking Doctors by ngak: 9:54am On May 09, 2012
For your information; Issues
concerning the Nigerian Medical
Association,Medical guild of Lagos.
The consolidated medical salary scale
is the salary structure designed by the
federal government 4years ago with the aim of providing a uniform salary
scale for doctors irrespective of the
state,kind of hospital,and
specialisation. With an annual
increment denoting years of
experience. Most states in the country immediately
began paying conmess in full.
2years after this,the medical guild
wrote several letters to the government
to remind them of conmess as they
were yet to be paid. The governor then SIGNED an agreement that he would
commence payment in 2011 with
arrears being owed.
The federal government made it clear
that if conmess is paid, Doctors would
ignore the poor work conditions, work extended hours like they have been
but this time they would be happy
doing it, they wouldn't have to leave
the country to work abroad, more
people would be encouraged to train
as doctors and the health of the people would be secured.
Tax was increased, conmess was not
paid, work conditions were not
improved, doctor's lives were lost to
stress related illnesses. Call rooms
were not provided for doctors on call. When Mr Fashola was reminded in
January,he simply said the President
couldn't dictate how much he would
pay doctors in his state, and the tax
increase was necessary so we can get
used to it INCASE he agrees to implement conmess! He said he
couldn't afford to pay conmess(but
could plan the most expensive
birthday party in the World for Mr
Tinubu)
We then embarked on a legal 3day warning strike with prior notice to
sensitize the people and remind the
government of the signed agreement
On resumption,all doctors were given
individual query letters(for a joint
action?). Another one was issued, then letters were issued for "call to panel /
impending dismissal from duty". A
week later, armour tanks were brought
to all lagos general hospitals and
teaching hospital Lasuth ikeja,with
doctors walked out of their clinics while seeing patients. The Med guild
immediately called for an indefinite
strike and the lagos state government
sued for breech of agreement and
Victimisation of doctors.
Fake pay slips were published in the papers 2weeks ago claiming doctors
were being paid as much as 900,000
whereas a medical professor of
20years has never been paid as much
as 500,000.
A Neurosurgeon(brain surgeon) consultant still collects 171,000 as
salary. Be informed we have only less
dan 20 in Nigeria(2of them with lagos
state,they trained in America,they have
both been sacked!).They work round
the clock(we have enough head injuries daily due to road traffic
accidents).
3days ago,we were issued sack letters
and 97 doctors(not 373 like u heard)
were employed as locum doctors
(doctors paid per hour). These locum doctors need residents and
consultants to put them through.
It takes years of experience to perform
a caesarian section on a woman or a
brain surgery(esp bore hole to relieve
increased brain pressure or blood in d brain) or an appendectomy or treat a
sick child or even to help a mentally ill
patient.
NMA has made it clear that the newly
appointed doctors should not & would
not accept the job offer, and that all doctors across the nation would join in
the strike against victimization on friday
after the on going professional exams.
The issue is now beyond CONMESS
struggle - the government is aiming to
devour the medical and dental profession.
Be informed that doctors are not
slaves,our Hippocratic oath explains
that we owe an obligation to our
patients and they owe an obligation to
us and our services must be paid for. Thanks for taking time to read this. I
hope you have been well informed.
HealthRe: Lagos Sacks Striking Doctors by ngak: 5:50am On May 09, 2012
My friend if u think replacing professors, consultants in all specialties with a year post NYSC doctors is going to make lagos function with 100% prestrike capacity, you must be psychotic.
If thiis continues the medical school will be shut in weeks as all accreditation will be lost.......not maybe.........will be........
Houseofficers will not finish their postings there.........it requires that Heads of each departments sign their papers but as they have all been sacked......maybe the corper and a year post nysc person will be appointed HOD.
Many are being very myopic..........my advice to all........do not hace accidents, do not need surgery for any purpose this period........
Only God knows how it will all end
HealthRe: Lagos Sacks Striking Doctors by ngak: 11:15am On May 08, 2012
I hope the populace realises that fired speccialists for example a heart or a brain surgeon is being replaced by corpers. The medical school will be shut down and the medical students turned out.
Meaning a worse shortage is coming. Well na to sa ve mney fcor emergency and to pray
HealthRe: Lagos Sacks Striking Doctors by ngak: 6:44am On May 08, 2012
We are failing to see the real issue here. I'm trying to look at this without sentiment. It is not about whether the Drs are heartless or the govt is righT. It boils down to a series of agreements and facts
1. FG agreed for the Drs to have this CONMESS supposed to stablise them and reduce brain drain
2. The States agreed to implement them when it was approved by FG
3. It was approved and implemented
4. Lagos State among other states negiotiated with the drs what they would pay, when they would pay and how much arrears. An agreement was reached
5. Lagos state failed to keep their side of the bargain 13 months after reaching the agreement claiming issues needed to be ironed but manages to quadriple tax
6. Lagos state did not include the financial implication of this agreement into their 2011 or 2012
Budget
7. All efforts both nationally and locally for mediation bythe unions were rejected
8. Lagos State begins a smear campaign based on sympathy
9. If truely Lagos could not afford to pay this now, why could they not mediate and come to an agreemant

I do not think this drs are fools. I think they are frustrated with the system. And are fighting for their rights. Did we not all in January fight. Do you think plle did not die of illnesses in that period. I believe that I heard of a couple of Drs that worked that were dealt with by lagosians claiming betrayal. Is this action different tfrom then because the rest of us are not involved. For a country ridden by injustice and corruption, I will always applaud the ones that stand for their rights. The rest of uis should stop being selfish. And the Drs should set up free consultation posts for those who truely cannot afford alternate healthcare......
