For the longest time, I believed that there’s only purpose of life: And that is to be happy.

Right? Why else go through all the pain and hardship? It’s to achieve happiness in some way.

And I’m not the only person who believed that. In fact, if you look around you, most people are pursuing happiness in their lives.

That’s why we collectively buy shit we don’t need, go to bed with people we don’t love, and try to work hard to get approval of people we don’t like.

Why do we do these things? To be honest, I don’t care what the exact reason is. I’m not a scientist. All I know is that it has something to do with history, culture, media, economy, psychology, politics, the information era, and you name it. The list is endless.

We are who we are.
Let’s just accept that. Most people love to analyze why people are not happy or don’t live fulfilling lives. I don’t necessarily care about the why.

I care more about how we can change.

Just a few short years ago, I did everything to chase happiness.

You buy something, and you think that makes you happy.
You hook up with people, and think that makes you happy.
You get a well-paying job you don’t like, and think that makes you happy.
You go on holiday, and you think that makes you happy.


But at the end of the day, you’re lying in your bed (alone or next to your spouse), and you think: “What’s next in this endless pursuit of happiness?”

Well, I can tell you what’s next: You, chasing something random that you believe makes you happy.

It’s all a façade. A hoax. A story that’s been made up.

Did Aristotle lie to us when he said:

“Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.”

I think we have to look at that quote from a different angle. Because when you read it, you think that happiness is the main goal. And that’s kind of what the quote says as well.

But here’s the thing: How do you achieve happiness?
Happiness can’t be a goal in itself. Therefore, it’s not something that’s achievable.

I believe that happiness is merely a byproduct of usefulness.

When I talk about this concept with friends, family, and colleagues, I always find it difficult to put this into words. But I’ll give it a try here.

"You go on holiday".
"You go to work".
"You go shopping".
"You have drinks".
"You have dinner".
"You buy a car".


Those things should make you happy, right? But they are not useful. You’re not creating anything. You’re just consuming or doing something. And that’s great.

Don’t get me wrong. I love to go on holiday, or go shopping sometimes. But to be honest, it’s not what gives meaning to life.

What really makes me happy is when I’m useful. When I create something that others can use. Or even when I create something I can use.

For the longest time I found it difficult to explain the concept of usefulness and happiness. But when I recently ran into a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, the dots finally connected.

Emerson says:

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

And I didn’t get that before I became more conscious of what I’m doing with my life. And that always sounds heavy and all. But it’s actually really simple.

It comes down to this: What are you DOING that’s making a difference?
Did you do useful things in your lifetime? You don’t have to change the world or anything. Just make it a little bit better than before you were born.

If you don’t know how, here are some ideas.

•Help your boss with something that’s not your responsibility.

•Take your mother to a spa.

•Create a collage with pictures (not a digital one) for your spouse.

•Write an article about the stuff you learned in life.

•Help the pregnant lady who also has a 2-year old with her stroller.

•Call your friend and ask if you can help with something.

•Build a standing desk.

•Start a business and hire an employee and treat them well.


That’s just some stuff I like to do. You can make up your own useful activities.

You see? It’s not anything big. But when you do little useful things every day, it adds up to a life that is well lived. A life that mattered.

The last thing I want is to be on my deathbed and realize there’s zero evidence that I ever existed.

A different mindset.

This rather popular advice has damaged the quality of my life for a long time until I realized that it doesn’t work and is rather abstract
Everyone, left and right, romanticizes this “be yourself” idea. But, tell me, how can you give a 13-year old teenager the advice “be yourself”?
Half the world doesn’t know themselves, and you expect teenagers to “be themselves”?
I was “myself” for some time. I jumped around cold people, I joked with serious people and then I realized human relationships don’t work that way.
Many people will not understand you. With those kinds of people, you don’t be yourself. You follow social skills, unless you want to be hated by 99% of the world.
You can’t be yourself with people who don’t understand humor. You just can’t tell everyone about ideas which they will abhor. Not everyone is you and you can’t be you with everyone.
Unless, of course, if you don’t mind being hated by almost everyone you know.
Unfortunately, this advice is especially directed at teenagers which is disturbing to me. Do you expect a 13-year old teenager to have constructed their own values and morals?

Don't be yourself

Instead, explore. Stop saying “oh, I don’t like blueberries, it’s just who I am.”
Maybe, if you try blueberries, you will like them? Maybe when you say “I don’t like laughing, it’s just not who I am” you are just activating your placebo effect?
What if, instead of “being yourself”, you began improving your bad parts?
Nowadays, it seems that “it’s just who I am”has become an excellent excuse for being insecure.
People are not genetically born in “not liking laughing”. It takes work, it takes shape.
When we tell teenagers (and people) to be themselves, we are indirectly telling them that they must have these barriers (e.g. I don’t like blueberries or I don’t like going out) when most of the times they are just placebo effects.
A better advice is find yourself.
Find yourself until you know everything about yourself. And, chances are, you don’t even know 10% of yourself at the age of 13, so start exploring and not bringing excuses with “I am being myself”.
Nobody ever knows themselves and, moreover, people change. (Remember you five years ago?)

TYPES OF PEOPLE IN THIS EARTH

I have grown to find out There are two types people that exist in this world (1) Taxi drivers and (2) Bus drivers.
Which one are you?

1. Taxi driver - There are those that move
without destination. In other words, they
can still be referred to as people without
vision, mission or Goals, they are easily
influence by others, their choices are determined by other people, they can as
well rob them selves to pay others (Robing Peter to pay Paul).
They think more than a Professor but act less like a blind man. I am not writing this to condemn taxi driver or to say that they did not have destination but am using this as reference to the topic.

2. Bus driver - They are people that move with destination.
However, they are people that set their
Target, Goals and stick to it no matter what it cost them. They have specific direction
and move towards it. Furthermore, once you are not going the same direction with
them they will not involve you. They have
purpose for whatever they are doing and as well believe it is the best for them.

Stop procrastinating, discover your potentials and rule your world, you will find out that you we become a model, an archetype, a Paragon, a Quentices of Excellence.

I can say that mothers are always perfect in their nature but will always like to influence their children to do as they wish, this is so because the proximity that exist between mother and child will make it to be achievable.

Mother ; A good example of caretaker.
Naturally speaking, mothers are good example of caretaker, whereby carrying 80% (less) of the family burden, especially the children's and the husband, they are good example of role model in the area of caretaking more than the father, because they make sure that
#food is always on the table.
#Taking care of the laundries.
#Plays bigger role in parental burden.
#Give them advice and proper female education to the female ones.
#Ensure the safety of the children......

Caretaking is mostly the party of the mother because the father believes that he only has to go work and bring the financial support for needs, but the mothers takes care of those needs manually caretaking is thereby categorized as an important role for the mothers.

There is a boy in one certain family. They young guy demanded sum of Ten thousand naira N10,000 ($30) from his Dad, unfortunately his Dad is only left with that amount as at that time, the father in other to please him he decided to give out 90% (N9,000) of the money to his boy, the boy collected it but was integrate that he was murmuring because what given to him was not the actual amount he demanded for, then he went to the mother after the his Dad gone to work to make a complain, then the mother in addition gave him Three thousand (3,000) and told him that she never wanted him to be angry, then the young guy started rejoicing that he has the best mother in the world claiming that his mother has just done what his father was unable to do forgetting that his Dad gave him all he have that the mom was only supporting.
In all indication, you all can see that the actions was determined towards her mom comment (I never what you to be angry) when money was given to him.
In actual sense the boy is now seeing it that his dad wanted him angry, No our dads never wanted bad for us.
What I'm trying to say is that we should always celebrate and appreciate our fathers like our mom too, this is not being jealous of motherhood but it's things that we take for granted in our society today.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, have taken Nigeria to African Commission for Human and Peoples’ Rights in Banjul, the Gambian capital, to challenge its proscription.

In a suit filed on December 5 and made available to newsmen, IPOB’S attorney, Mr Alloy Ejimako of Adulbert Services, on behalf of the victims/complainants, legal representative, respectfully urged the Commission among other reliefs to invoke its powers under Rule 111 of its Rules of Procedure and adopt provisional measures.

Urged the respondent state not to take any further action that would cause irreparable damage to Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB and its members until this case had been heard by the Commission; to adopt other urgent measures as it deemed fit in the circumstances of this case to protect the victims in the interim and to take such further and final measures consistent with its powers and discretions to protect the victims.

The suit, according to the “lawyer pursuant to the pertinent Articles of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (hereafter; the ‘Charter’); Rule 111 of the Rules of Procedure of the Commission; and the inherent powers and jurisdiction of the Commission.”

He contended that tagging IPOB a terrorist group and its consequent proscription had put the leader and members in danger of being shot and killed on sight by security agencies.

He recalled the incidents that led to the arrest and incarceration of Kanu which culminated in the decision of the Nigerian government to gazette IPOB as a terrorist organisation, saying that the implication of the action was that Kanu and members of the group would be denied the rights guaranteed by the charter of the commission.

The woman, Mrs. Omowale, who alleged Prophet Oni Olakanye of CAC Palace of Mercy, Matthew, Olokuta, Ado-Ekiti, caused injuries to her private part after a strange deliverance is dead.

A pastor in Ekiti state has been accused of causing injuries to a woman’s private part after conducting a “special type” of deliverance for her after collecting N50,000 from her. The woman who is suffering from wounds in her private region – claimed it happened after the pastor inserted some substances there during deliverance for fertility.She revealed this in an interview conducted by a journalist, Omo Edema of Voice 89.9FM, Ado-Ekiti.
“I live in Lagos. One day, my younger brother called me that there was a prophecy from his Prophet, Prophet Oni Olakanye of CAC Palace of Mercy, Mathew, Olokuta, Ado-Ekiti, that I would need to come down to Ado-Ekiti for prayers concerning my infertility. I have married since 2011, but no child. So I discussed the issue with my husband and he allowed me travel to visit the prophet.
“When I got to the prophet a few days later, he first prayed with me at the church reception. He subsequently called me down into one of the rooms in the mission house where he placed a mirror under my private part—the exercise he called inspection, and later poured some liquid substance in my private part and fingered it in by himself. He therefore took me to bathroom where I bathed on a mortar with a black soap and native sponge while he stood in with me…
“He therefore demanded for N50,000 which I gave to him on the same day.
“Lastly, he gave me a ball-shaped substance to insert into my private part in the bedtime when I get home. I did according to his instructions. However, since then, my private part has been badly affected with wounds without cure yet…” These were the allegations of Mrs. Omowale against Prophet Oni Olakanye of CAC Palace of Mercy, Mathew, Olokuta, Ado-Ekiti.
“I know her, but not all her allegations against me were true. I collected N50,000 to work for her and to ensure she has child in life. The substance I gave her to insert into her private part; she didn’t use it according to my instruction…” The prophet, Oni Olakanye responded.

Not less than 40 illegal Health Technology in Benue state have been closed down.
Information reaching us reveals that The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Cecilia Ojabo, who disclosed this to newsmen on Monday, said the closure was to rid the state of quackery.
While lamenting the proliferation of Schools of Health Technology in the state, Ojabo said, “Benue has the highest schools of health technology in the country.”
The commissioner explained that the ministry had to set up a committee on quackery due to public outcry on the danger inherent in the activities of quack health personnel.
The commissioner lamented that several lives had been lost in the rural communities in the state to the illegal activities of the quacks.
“We set up a committee to move round all the communities in the state due to public outcry about the illegal activities of these quacks, we learnt that those illegal schools of health technology train people who later open clinics and carry out surgical operation.


“Many of these people in the process of carrying out their illegal activities killed the unsuspecting patients while those who are lucky to survive have their reproductive system destroyed in the guise of treating them for infertility”, he said.

Nnamdi Azikiwe University

The vice chancellors of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, on Thursday said more than 40 percent of the staff of the university spend more time watching pornographic videos and other illicit films at work than doing the work for which they are employed.

The VC said he was able to monitor the development in offices on campus from his own network.

He said when he got the report of the trend and discovered that some people sat in their offices only to watch illicit movies during office hours, he took a decision to curb it by censoring internet services in the university from his office.

"There have been a lot of abuses on facilities that, ordinarily, should aid staff in their jobs and as a result plans are underway to remove the televisions in central offices.

He said when he visited such offices, rather than find staff watching news programmes to obtain good information, they were engrossed watching illicit videos, thereby implying that some of them did not need the facilities.

A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State on Thursday adjourned the N4.5 billion money laundering trial of former Enugu State Governor Chimaroke Nnamani to Monday, December 4. Mr. Namani’s attorney, M. Bamidele, said he was served with the hearing notice six days ago, but he has been unable to contact his client, who is out of the country.

The prosecutor, Kelvin Uzozie, was also absent, but had written the court asking for adjournment. Justice Chuka Obizor consequently adjourned the matter till December 4.

Mr. Bamidele objected to the date, saying that his client might not be able to make it, but the judge maintained that the arraignment would be held on December 4. This fresh arraignment is coming ten years after the ex-governor was first arraigned for his alleged involvement in a N4.5 billion money laundering scheme. Read more....

ANAMBRA GUBER POLLS: Nigeria to deploy 28 000 police/military men to Anambra
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Garba Umar, says it will deploy 28,000 of its personnel to Anambra state's governorship election scheduled for November 18.
Mr. Umar said this at a meeting in Awka, the state capital, on Tuesday of heads of security formations in the state and representatives of the 37 political parties fielding candidates for the election.
He said that 400 vehicles,100 flying boats consisting of 60 from the police and 40 from the Navy would be deployed for use by security operatives in riverine and upland communities.
He said that the police and other security organisations would not spare anybody found wanting during and after the election.

My house was about to be locked, just because I was not able to raise rent. I posted it on Facebook seeking for help, but all I got was 2likes and 0comments.
So I sent 120 messages to friends on my contact list, requesting for a loan of N400,000. Sadly, only 10people replied. 6 out of the 10 claimed they couldn't help. Only 1 out of the 4 who said they could help actually gave me some money but the rest only gave me excuses and never picked my calls. Eventually, my house was locked. I had no where to sleep. I walked in the dark, seeking options and suddenly, a heavy storm carried me away and I died.

FAST FORWARD

The next day, news quickly spread around that I had died. 2220 people posted on my wall how they knew me. How great I was. A committee is formed by my "loyal" friends who quickly raised N1,200,000 via donations, to feed guests at my funeral. My colleagues at work teamed-up and brought another N300,000 for coffin, tents and chairs. I am buried in a coffin worth N100,000.

My relatives who rarely met, met, for my send-off and contributed an extra N150,000.

Everyone wants to volunteer in order to appear they are helping out. The Youth also, printed T-shirts with my image, each T-Shirt costing N1,500. About 600 youths paid, so the T-shirt man makes N150,000 profit from my death. Everyone wants to speak at my funeral.

There was drama all over from people who never knew how I survived. There was rumour that I was murdered by my friends. Also people falsely accused my successful relatives of sacrificing me. Wonderful speeches were made on how talented I was even those who never attended my events. The few friends who supported me in life didn't get the chance to speak during my funeral although they knew the Truth. Infact, they were the prime suspects in my death.

MORAL

Don't show people love when they are gone. Show love to people while they are alive, so that they can appreciate you...

Call people when they can pick your call not when they are gone and you pretend by shedding crocodile tears when infact they can not hear you.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described as ridiculous allegations by the Presidency that government officials loyal to him reinstated ex-chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu on Wednesday had said some officials who were still loyal to the former President facilitated Maina’s return.

While speaking through his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan said;

Security has been tightened in Kenya as voting gets underway in a re-run of the presidential election which is being boycotted by the main opposition. Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is seeking a second term, has urged people to vote and remain peaceful.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who has pulled out of the election re-run, has called on his supporters to boycott it. Mr Kenyatta was announced the winner in an 8 August vote but the poll is being held again because of "irregularities".

The polls on Thursday opened at 06:00 (03:00 GMT) with tens of thousands of police and other security personnel deployed to protect voters and polling stations.
