Kenya will hold a fresh presidential vote on October 17, the election commission said Monday, after the country’s Supreme Court overturned the result of last month’s poll won by President Uhuru Kenyatta. “A fresh presidential election will be held on the 17th of October 2017,” said a statement signed by Wafula Chebukati, chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). “This is in conformity with the Supreme Court decision annulling the presidential election held on 8th August 2017.” Chebukati said only Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, who brought the court challenge, would be on the ballot paper, along with their running mates. On Friday, chief justice David Maraga cancelled the results of the August poll saying the election commission had failed to hold a legitimate election and that the results were therefore “invalid, null and void”. He added that the IEBC had committed “irregularities and illegalities” in the transmission of results from polling stations to the national tally centre. However, a full explanation of the court’s reasoning has yet to be published. “It is imperative that a detailed judgement… is released in order to allow the Commission to identify areas that require improvement,” Chebukati said. Kenyatta has committed to campaigning hard to win the new election while Odinga has called for IEBC personnel to be replaced in light of the court ruling.... The "largest [wildfire] in the history" of Los Angeles has forced hundreds to evacuate, the US city's mayor said. Mayor Eric Garcetti told reporters on Saturday that the blaze, which broke out on Friday and lit up the hills surrounding the northern suburb of Burbank overnight, had already burned 5,000 acres (2,000 hectares). More than 700 homes were evacuated in a north Los Angeles neighbourhood and nearby areas, officials said. Authorities warned of erratic winds that could force them to widen the evacuation zone, after the fire destroyed one house in Los Angeles on Saturday. "Other than that, no loss of any property," Garcetti said at a news conference. "That is a pretty amazing thing." Local media later reported that two additional homes had been burned. The fire was only 10 percent contained with more than 500 firefighters battling it. The blaze in thick brush that has not burned in decades was slowly creeping down a rugged hillside on Saturday towards houses, with temperatures in the area approaching 38 degrees Celsius, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in an alert. The fire could make air unhealthy to breathe in parts of Los Angeles, the nation's second-largest city, and nearby suburbs, the South Coast Air Quality Management District said in an advisory. Video posted online by media showed the fire burning along a major highway as it broke out on Friday, with smoke hovering over the roadway as cars passed by flames a few dozen feet away. Officials quickly closed a stretch of the freeway. Read full: http://www.loadedchuks.com/2017/09/los-angeles-battles-largest-wildfire-in.html

New device will be around the same price of the KeyOne and launch in October. BlackBerry could be set for a sensational return to the world of business smartphones, according to parent company TCL. The manufacturer of BlackBerry's smartphones has announced that it will release a companion device to the KeyOne that will ditch the physical keyboard in favour of a full touch screen. The head of global sales at TCL, Francois Mahieu noted during the IFA tech conference in Berlin that “Two months from now, we will have a touchscreen solution to show.” In February, TCL promised that it would launch as many as three devices by the end of 2017 but now the company has revealed that its next smartphone will launch in October. The KeyOne launched at Mobile World Congress at the beginning of the year and it is due time for news regarding the company's next device. According to Mahieu, the new touchscreen smartphone will retail at around the same price of the KeyOne and give consumers more choice when it comes to the range of BlackBerry devices available. While diehard fans of the brand may prefer a physical keyboard, the KeyOne is an outlier among modern smartphones and users have become accustomed to full touchscreen devices. BlackBerry's new smartphone will likely be a follow-up to TCL's DTEK 50 and DTEK 60 which it made before becoming the company's official manufacturer. Mahieu stressed TCL's commitment to developing and releasing even more BlackBerry devices going forward, saying: “The message here is very clearly: Don't write us off as a vendor who has good success with KeyOne so far, but has nothing more to talk about. We're here to stay and we're going to roll out more BlackBerry products in the coming years, starting this year.”. The Federal Government on Saturday ignored calls for the immediate arrest and detention of Arewa Youths and said they would not arrest them for issuing quit notice against Igbos living in the north. The minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau said the group was quoted out of context by the media. He said; “The group that called themselves coalition of Arewa Associations that held a press conference in Kaduna where they gave October 1 ultimatum to the Igbos to quit the north as a response to what they termed as issue of separatist agenda of the IPOB and claim that there are lots of incitement from the Igbos against the northerners to which the Kaduna State governor responded that they should be arrested for what they reported.” “Of course they later claimed that the media quoted them out of context. I am very much aware that the DSS invited all of them, held a meeting with them to which they made a statement to the effect that what was reported in the media was not what they said.” Read full :..... http://www.loadedchuks.com/2017/08/you-are-un-we-are-nigeria-you-can-not.html |

For the first time in 38 years, tomorrow Angolans will have a new president. Jose Eduardo dos Santos, the country’s long-time leader, announced in December 2016, that he would not seek re-election and, in his place, João Lourenço, Angola’s defense minister, has been chosen by the ruling People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) to seek the presidency. Dos Santos, 74, is said to have health issues. In May, after a prolonged absence, the government confirmed dos Santos was in Spain for one of his “regular health checks” and his daughter later was forced to deny reports of his death. Given the MLPA’s dominance in Angolan politics—the party has ruled Angola since its independence from Portugal in 1975—Lourenço is expected to win the parliamentary elections. But for the first time in decades, opposition parties believe they’ve got an outside shot at power. A pollcommissioned by the presidency predicts the ruling party will only secure 38% of the votes while National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), the main opposition party, will receive 32%. CASA-CE, another party, is projected to win 26%. More damning, 91% of the more than 9,000 poll respondents said MPLA’s current leadership does not act in the best interest of Angolans. In 2012, the MPLA received 72% of the vote; in 2008, it received 82% of the the total votes. Information reaching LOADEDCHUKS from Quartz Africa has it that Whoever wins, dos Santos and his family are is likely to retain significant power. Last month, the government passed new laws which prevent the next president from firing the military, police, and intelligence chiefs. Dos Santos will continue as leader of the MPLA while his daughter Isabel will stay in charge of Sonangol, the state oil company, after being appointed in June 2016, and Jose Filomeno, dos Santos’ son, will remain in charge of Angola’s $5 billion sovereign wealth fund. In June, Dos Santos was granted a seat on the Council of the Republic, a presidential advisory body whose members enjoy immunity from prosecution. Lourenço has campaigned on anti-corruption measures in line with his hardline stance. In the late 1980s, as governor of Benguela province, Lourenço jailed some members of his own party for corruption. The winning party will need to defuse anger at what is perceived to be large-scale corruption among Angola’s elite. Despite its vast oil wealth—Angola is Africa’s second largest oil producer—inequality remains high. Much of Angola’s development is concentrated in Luanda, its capital city, which is so littered with lush hotels and apartments that it is considered to be the most expensive city in the world for exert patriates. Meanwhile, infrastructure in the rest of the country is poor. The 2016 Africa Prosperity Report by the Legatum Institute found that Angola has been “under-delivering” prosperity to its citizens. That reality has gotten worse over the past two years as oil prices have dipped, slowing the country’s growth. To cope with the fall in revenue, the government cut essential servicesincluding waste collection services. A deadly yellow fever outbreak which killed more than 400 people (pdf) has been cited as a costly fallout of that decision. Opposition parties are working to boost an unlikely victory. To ensure transparency at the polls, CASA-CE hopes to leverage technology by using a computer program to calculate results based on data from party delegates at polling stations and minimize rigging. But MPLA is not standing by idly either. Citing security concerns, government authorities have banned protests and demonstrations by groups not contesting the elections. http://www.loadedchuks.com/2017/08/the-longest-africa-serving-leader-is.html |

Marriage is a school which we can never graduate from. Here are 10 things you should know about marriage : 1. *EVERYONE YOU MARRY HAS A WEAKNESS* Only God has no weakness. Every rose flower has its own thorn. If you focus too much on your spouse’s weakness, you can’t get the best out of his/her strength. 2. *EVERYONE YOU MARRY HAS A DARK HISTORY* No one is an angel, therefore, avoid digging one’s past. What matters is the present life of your partner. Old things are passed away. Try to forgive and forget. The past can’t be changed. So focus on the present and the future! 3. *EVERY MARRIAGE HAS IT’S OWN CHALLENGES* Marriage is not bed of roses. Every shining marriage has gone through its own test of hot and excruciating fire. True love is proved in time of challenge. Fight for your marriage! Make up your mind to stay with your spouse in time of needs. Remember this is the vow you made on your wedding day! 4. *EVERY MARRIAGE HAS DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SUCCESS* Don’t compare your marriage with anyone! We can never be equal, some will be far in front and others far behind. To avoid marriage stresses, be patient, work hard and with time, your marriage dreams shall come true. 5. *TO MARRY IS TO DECLARE A WAR* When you marry, you must declare a war against enemies of marriage. Some of the enemies of marriage are: Ignorance, Rumours, Prayerlessness, Unforgiveness, Adultery, Third Party Influence, Stinginess, Stubbornness, Lack Of Love, Rudeness, Wife battery, Laziness, winning, nagging, PRIDE, Divorce etc. Be ready to fight to maintain your marriage zone. 6. *THERE IS NO PERFECT MARRIAGE* There is no ready made marriage anywhere. Marriage is hard work, volunteer yourself and perfect it daily. Marriage is like a MOTOR CAR with a gear oil, gear box, etc If these parts are not properly maintained, the car will break down somewhere along the road and expose the occupant to unhealthy circumstances. – Many of us are careless about our marriage… Are you? If you are, please pay attention to your marriage. 7. *GOD CANNOT GIVE YOU THE COMPLETE PERSON YOU DESIRE* God gives you, her or him in form of raw materials in order for you to mold what you desire. You may desire a woman who can pray for 1 hour but your wife can only pray for 30 minutes. With your love, prayer and encouragement, she can improve. 8. *TO MARRY IS TO TAKE A RISK* You cannot predict what will happen after marriage, as situation may change, so, leave a room for adjustment. Pregnancy may not come in the next 4 years. You may get married to her because she's slim but she becomes a little fat after a child. He may lose his beautiful job for years that you have to take the financial responsibility of the family until he gets a new job. But with God by your side, you will smile at long last. 9. *MARRIAGE IS NOT A CONTRACT, IT IS PERMANENT* Marriage needs total commitment, love is the glue that makes a couple stick together. Divorce starts in the mind. Never think of divorce! Never threaten your spouse with divorce. Choose to remain married! God hates divorce, though it’s permitted only in extreme cases. 10. *EVERY MARRIAGE HAS A PRICE TO PAY* Marriage is like a bank account. It is the money you deposit into your bank account that you can withdrawn. If you don’t deposit love, peace and care into your marriage, you are not a candidate of a blissful home. There is no free love in marriage, You cannot love without giving and sacrificing. May God grant us the grace and wisdom to succeed in it. HAVE A NICE DAY ALL. http://www.loadednews.com/2017/08/lessons-on-marriage.html |

Raila Odinga, the leader of Kenya’s opposition, has pledged to continue his campaign to overturn the result of the election last week in which Uhuru Kenyatta won a second five-year presidential term by a margin of 9%. In his first speech since the vote, Odinga told supporters in poor neighbourhoods in Nairobi, the site of violent in clashes between protesters and police, to stay at home and out of the way of the authorities. At least 16 people have died in the violence since Friday night, including an eight-year-old girl. A series of election observers and western officials have called on losers in the election to accept defeat, and said they had found no evidence of “centralised manipulation”. Odinga, 72, vowed to “remove” the government of Kenyatta and said his supporters should observe a day of mourning for casualties over the weekend on Monday rather than go to work. "We had predicted they will steal the election and that’s what happened. We are not done yet. We will not give up,” he told an excited crowd of several thousand gathered on a rubble- and rubbish-strewn wasteland in Kibera, Nairobi’s largest slum and an opposition stronghold. "He is our president, our father. He cares for us and he cares for the nation,” said Vivian Juma, a 20-year-old student. Opposition officials have repeatedly described the election results as a “fraud” and claimed that Odinga, who leads the National Super Alliance (NASA), was the “legitimate” winner. Odinga’s claims of rigging after defeat in 2007 elections prompted rioting and retaliation by security forces, which tipped the country into its worst crisis for decades. About 1,200 people were killed in the campaign of ethnic violence that followed. A local election observer group, ELOG, which deployed 8,300 observers and conducted a parallel tallying operation, determined that Kenyatta had won with 54% – the same figure given by the electoral commission. On Sunday, parts of Nairobi and the western city of Kisumu, where protests had led to clashes on Friday and Saturday, were calm. In Nairobi, traffic was heavier as life began to return to normal. The election was Odinga’s fourth failed shot at the presidency. In 2013 he said the election was rigged and took his case to the supreme court, but lost. http://viahold.com/2Sxs |
The president of the Young Yorubas for Freedom, Adeyinka Grandson has declared that if the Yoruba people don’t get their Oduduwa Republic, there will be organised violence. He said this in an interview with The Punch. The YYF leader was the one who released a trending viral video that he would use chemical weapon to fight the Hausa/Fulani insisting that resources from the south west was being used to develop the north. He disclosed that; “The following seven revenue generating agencies collect 95 per cent of the Federal Government of Nigeria incomes: the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Nigeria Ports Authority, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas. “From all the levies paid to the Federal Government of Nigeria as revenue, the Yoruba pays 49 per cent of the total revenue accruing to the Federal Government every month, but receives about eight per cent of the monthly allocation from the same Federal Government, whereas, the North, a region that contributes less than five per cent to the total revenue of the Federal Government, receives more than 55 per cent of the monthly allocation shared by the Federal Government. “We make no pretence that if the Federal Government of Nigeria refuses to return Nigeria to true and fiscal federalism that is based on regional autonomy on or before election, the Young Yorubas for Freedom will declare for Oduduwa Republic and start a war with the use of chemical, biological, and even radiological weapons against the Federal Government of Nigeria if its President orders an attack on the sovereignty of the Yoruba people whenever we declare for Oduduwa Republic. “The days our parents were protesting with their fists in the face of armoured tanks and being killed, arrested, imprisoned and exiled by the Hausa/Fulani are over. Our generation has learned from their mistakes. It is Oduduwa Republic or organised violence.” http://www.loadedchuks.com/2017/08/we-are-ready-to-use-chemical-weapons-on.html
