The Nigerian Presidency has released a statement, saying a little above two billion Naira, not an outlandish six billion, has so far been spent on maintenance of the presidential air fleet between May and now. The amount spent, the government said, included salaries and repayment of old debts. In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity) ”expressed frustration at what he described as a fictional report that has caused the government a lot of negative reviews especially in the online media”. The statement added, “The government is focused on solving the many major issues our country faces in the areas of the economy, corruption and security. Yet almost every week, the Presidency has to also deal with the distractions which do nothing but distract from the task of government.” ”Referring to documents he had requested from the Operational Office of the Presidential Fleet after his attention was drawn to the speculative report, Malam Shehu pointed out that the sum of N2.3 billion was released to the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation between May and November 2015. This includes releases for personnel cost, overhead and capital expenditure out of the sum of N5,190,381,386.00 appropriated for PAF on the 2015 budget. ”The documents also showed that the sum of N2,127,103,086.66 had so far been expended, leaving a balance of N172,568,912.34 from the amount released. “However, the sum of N149,062,791.12 was transferred from the PAG’s operation account to the Treasury Single Account, following the President’s recent directive,” he said. ”He added that the sum of N23,801,122.17 remains unutilised out of the funds so far released. During the period 31 May 2015 till date, the Fleet expended the sum of N1,358,910,962.75 to settle outstanding liabilities carried over from last year till May 2015. Furthermore, the sum of N500 million was refunded to the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA for financial support rendered to the Fleet prior to release of funds from the OAGF. ”Thus, the Fleet expended the sum of N449,081,037.25 within the last months comprising N98,500,218.00 for operations, N165,373,176.91 on training and N85,500,116.75 on personnel medicals and overhead. Additionally, the sum of N99,715,493.51 was expended on aircraft maintenance, spares, and subscription services required for operations. “Any of these documents could have been made available had the newspaper reached out to me or to any one of my colleagues. The damage to the image of government and the good management of the Presidential Air Fleet could have been avoided,” he said. ”The Senior Special,Assistant also put the number of aircraft on the Presidential fleet at 10, not 14 as cited by that report. ”He gave the inventory in the spirit of openness as transparency instituted by the Buahri administration as made up of: PAF-AIRCRAFT INVENTORY 1. 1× 737 BBJ 2. 1× G550 3. 1× G500 4. 2× Falcon 7X 5. 1× HS 4000 6. 2× Agusta139 7. 2× Agusta 101 Total aircraft holdings 10.” http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/193382-presidency-reacts-to-report-buhari-spent-n6billion-on-presidential-air-fleet-in-6-months.html |
My question to gov fayose is how are they embezzling money through TSA? He should make it clearer, and since the fg refuses to tell us the owner of REMITA fayose should be the whistle blower and tell us... A gov should not just open his mouth and say rubbish widaut backing it up with facts... In PMB I trust |
I really hope fayose is working to better d lives of ekiti pple... seems obsessed with buhari and may be distracted frm his job as a governor |
Nowhere in the world can a minority preside over the legislative arm but u can't really blame pdp, tambuwal did the same nd it is payback time...these people should just forget the leadership tussle and work together for the progress of this country In PMB I trust |

[quote author=adonismuller post=35181369]I am currently in osun state, I know what the people of osun are saying about Aregbe. Those people in the pic are either the touts who are comfortable with the okada and 2000 bribe he gives them. Or The ones who are still under his spell. Or The naturally dumb and ignorant ones. If you wana know what Osun people think about Aregbe, ask the educated ones in the state. When election comes the so called educated ones would stick with their tv, y dis grassroots go out to vote |

kaorama:I doubt it,i dnt think he is going to reduce the minimum wage, I bliv he is trying to cut d cost of governance so as to provide more opportunities and wealth for the masses |

70 million people registerd nd 28 voted,it means d 42 dat didnt vote are ok with whatever outcome of d election, if not dey would av voted |
jmoore:dat is in d history of US,and am so sure naija spend more on elections dan US, frm looking for endorsement, to rigging, even campaigns |
taharqa:that is d prob u ppl av,Punch said it, not APC.so if anybody tackle jona now he us frm APC |
Mrshroud:u wlcm....undeveloped is lack of development, it is like d first stage of development and it is believed every country either developed or underdeveloped av bin at dis level at a particular time, underdeveloped is nt lack of development buh a process in attaining development,a country may be developed politically buh may be underdeveloped economically and dis is underdevelopment, for a country to be regarded as developed it must be socially, economically and politically developed, wen a country lacks d 4 den dat is undeveloped buh wen a country has at least one dat is underdevelopment, undevelopment is d first stage of development buh I don't tink an undeveloped state still exist buh dia are many underdeveloped states...Underdeveloped,less developed and developing are d same thing, just dat diff scholars use dem aw dey feel,d word underdeveloped lacks moral standard while less develop also discourages d 3rd world, developing gvs unnecessary hope because a country whose development has stalled hears ppl calling it developing would gv unnecessary hope, dis 3 words can be used interchangeably so it is best to call d less developed, developing nd underdeveloped countries 3rd world,i hope u understand my point here |
Mrshroud:modernization theory is a theory based on d ideologies of the west(developed European countries) they bliv that for less developed countries to attain development they must imbibe the cultures of the west i.e they must be like d west... they bliv d ldc should embrace capitalism and spread it and by doing so dey wld be developed, ww rostow explained dat development involves 5 stages wich are traditional stage, transitional stage, take off stage, drive to maturity stage nd high consumption stage,he blivs d developed countries esp US av gobe thru this stage and dat is why dey are developed and for LDCs to attain development dey must go thru dia stages(from traditional to modern stage)..... the dependency theorists on d oda hand are scholars frm d LDCs and dey claim dat underdevelopment in d 3rd world today is as a result of imperialism, colonialism nd neo colonialism, dey also believe capitalism is used by d developed countries to exploit d LDCs and globalisation is a tool dey use to achieve their aim of exploitation,so for LDCs to attain development dey must av nothing to do with d developed countries i.e total 'delink' from the developed countries so as nt to be exploited further, I hope dis will help |
We can also use theories to explain development and underdevelopment such as modernization theory and dependency theory |
Of cos it won't stop corruption but it is a step in stopping corruption so I agree with GMB |
SURElee:thanks alot,will do that |
kesikeller:who be dis na, go chk google |
