Love is said to be a wonderful thing that can ever happen to a person. Love makes the world go round, but how much do we truly know about this powerful emotion? As beautiful as love is, it is capable of destroying so many things especially when it is difficult to let go of someone special to you. One month to our wedding, I discovered we are both "AS" what should I do-dailyfamily.ng One month to our wedding, I discovered we are both “AS” what should I do? Below is a true love story of a young lady of 31-year-old whose life is currently in an unbelievable stage as what seemed to be her happiness is gradually turning to sadness. Her story is published here for you to learn from and to also advise her on what to do. Happy reading. Hi, I met Mike when I was in my final year in school (in one of the prestigious universities in the country), He is now a banker at one of the new generation banks in the country and I am a secretary at an Agricultural firm. We started the relationship as friends and it later graduated into a relationship which led to courtship. We did our introduction last year (2017) November and are planning to wed next month (February) after four years of being together. Everything has been fine not until early this month (January) when we were called by my parents’ pastor whose church we want to use for our wedding. The pastor sat us (I and Mike) down in his office, we had so many discussions and also answered loads of questions from him. Among the questions he asked us was how ready we are to become one, we both looked at each other and gave him an assuring answer with smiles on our faces. Just as we were rounding off the meeting, the man of God gave us a list of things to put in place in the church before our wedding day e.g fueling of the church power plant, decoration etc and then. Then he gave us a medical form to fill which can now be described as a symbol of destruction to our relationship and gradually turning our glorious day into a nightmare. We filled the medical form with our details and he asked us to tick the recommended medical test stated on the form which includes Pregnancy test, HIV/AIDS and blood group/genotype test. After filling the medical form, he called in a member of his church (an elderly woman) and introduced us to her as the intending couple of his church and handed over the filled medical form to her. After glancing through the form she smiled and asked us when we will have chance to visit her health clinic (she owns a health clinic), Mike quickly whispered to my ear (maybe because he is the shy type) and answered the woman three days time. Of course, Mike and I visited the clinic as promised and we did the test. Then she gave us another appointment, that is for the result. Four days after, I received a phone call from my mum that their pastor wants to see me and Mike as soon as possible. I quickly called Mike and we both went to the church to meet with the man of God. After welcoming us, he started with a bible verse, he read the scripture with a low and soft voice and started urging us to take things easy with ourselves as he said “God knows the best” he also said, “Thank God it is not too late”. Not too late for what? I broke the silence. “what is happening here? I screamed at him. Mike was trying to calm me down. Then the pastor handed a letter to Mike, after glancing through it Mike put his two hands on his head and I quickly snatched the paper from him. I couldn’t believe my eyes with what I saw. The paper contains the results of our medical test. Of course, I am not pregnant and neither did any of us have HIV/AIDS but the problem is our genotype. We happened to be of the same genotype “AS”. I was short of words. How could this happen to me? why am I discovering this now? These are some of the questions running through my mind as tears were slowly dropping from my eyes. The man of God encouraged us to end the relationship for the sake of our unborn children and to avoid stress and wasting of our hard-earned money in the future. We both thanked him as we left his office in sadness. After leaving the Pastor’s offfice, we both went to another hospital the following day just to be sure of the results. To our utmost surprise, the results came out the same. I informed my parents about it, at first they were shocked and then started thanking God that it is not too late to end the relationship in good fate but as for me I’m not pleased with their advice as I have vowed to spend the rest of my life with Mike. Just few days ago, Mike called me on phone and asked me to join him in an eatery for a serious discussion. On getting there, I sat down with him and we couldn’t order for anything than water. It is clearly written all over his face that he is not ready for a breakup. Mike later broke the silence with his plan of leaving the state with me for another and getting married there. He said since the church and our parents are not in support of us getting married, the best thing we can do is to leave the state, get married and start a new life. When I asked him about the challenges that await us if we follow his plan, his reply was a shocking one and full of hope as he said: “Love conquers all”. I’m confused now and don’t know what to do. There are names in Nigeria Music industry we easily wouldn't remember today. And there are great men that have activated alot of things in the Nigerian music space that are not remembered today effectively the way they should. I was just wandering online for some stuff which will keep me busy yesterday when i came across one of the guitarist that played for former, juju musician, cum pastor, Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi. This musician is no ther person than Evang Olatunji Ajani, popularly known by his music peers then as Ajasco. Ajasco has not only played with Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi who today still plays too, though christian music now. He also traveled even as a yoruba man with Igbo Musician, Oliver De Coque to the far east back then to entertain the Ibos. He is never got tribalism in him. Before he was called to maximize the use of his 'Golden finger' (a nick given to him by one of his fans) in Christendom, this same talented guitarist was part of Liberia police band. Amazingly he is 62-year-old and will be a year older come January 30th 2018. I was just privy to all of this information because i want to know more about him. Here are lovely short videos from him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rcVSIQHkNI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4f7hg5g5at8 Cc: Lalasticlala Frontpage i beg

Nigeria’s foremost spoken words promoter and organizer of War of Words event (A Spoken words talent discovery event), has spoken about the untapped benefits in the poetry value chain in Nigeria. In this interview with DAILYFAMILY Newspaper, Holloway, a graduate of Lagos state University (LASU) explain why he seem to have been so loud about poetry even while Accounting was his Major in School. Can we meet you please? My name is Olumide Holloway. I am a writer, author of two E-books (The Poetprenuer and How many Nos make a Yes?), spoken word artist, Poetprenuer and Promoter of Poetry and literary events Tell us about your educational background? I graduated from LASU in 2002/ 2003 with a 2:2 in Accounting and I am also a Chartered Accountant i.e. an Associate member of ICAN (ACA) since 2005. You seem to have made more noise about Poetry, why is it so? Passion, passion, passion…And a dream that has kept me awake since I dreamt it. Will you tell us your first experience with spoken words? It was via a movie titled, “why do fools fall in love?” in 2008 (I think) and then later on at an event called “Celebrity Read” which started around June/ July in 2010. My first performance was at Taruwa that held in August 2010 at a Bar in the Palms, Oniru Lekki area. It was a disaster. What led you into it? The immediate attention, the art form demands from you, especially when excellently done. It is a way to express my thoughts, dreams, pain, excitement and all other things I had written down (instead of waiting for people to come and read it). Spoken words seem to be what every ‘Dick and Harry’ today are doing. Why have you chosen to do the same thing? I don’t know that many Dick and Harry. But like we learnt in school, all primates are mammals, but not all mammals are. So because someone calls his/ herself a name, does not automatically mean that is what he or she is. What makes you standout? Finding my niche and dominating it. Besides, I was born to standout, and I say this will all humility. What is your major motives for organizing spoken words event. What have You been trying to achieve? The vision is to develop a vibrant spoken word poetry industry in Nigeria and Africa. This will lead to creation of jobs/ businesses, increase in the level of literacy among youths, provide quality entertainment, provide a platform for expression and empower/ enlighten minds. Which work of life will you refer to yourself as a professional? A Poetprenuer: that is someone involved in the Business of poetry. On which umbrella organization are you driving your Spoken words event? i2X Media is an organization that sponsors, supports and promotes Performance Poetry, Spoken Word and soul music events. We are an entertainment company that employs the use of the written and spoken word as a literacy development tool, branding tool, marketing and publicity tool, business development and sales growth tool. We also do creative writing, editing, mentoring, grooming, promotion and management of writers, poets and soul singers. Tell us about War Of Words? War Of Words is Nigeria’s foremost Slam Poetry Competition which (on an annual basis since June 2013), discovers, grooms, and promote young, new, exciting and talented Spoken Word Poets based in Nigeria and Africa. It is an event that attracts and promote the performances of new poets, which in turn helps to grow an industry that will enable Spoken Word Poets to earn a living from their performances. In addition, it is a medium that allows us to use Spoken Word Poetry as a literacy development tool which can be used for education, communication, information and entertainment. After War of Words Season 6, what next? In 2017 War Of Words Season 6 featured 30 poets in 2 semifinals and one final over 3 weekends. In 2018, we plan to organize War Of Words Season 7 and feature 60 poets who will compete in 4 quarter finals, one semifinal and then a Grand final. This event will last between 6 to 12 weeks. What has been your major challenge in the Spoken words industry? Lack of enough awareness of the art form and lack of funding. But we realize that awareness brings funding, and funding brings awareness. So we have focused on creating enough awareness that will eventually attract funding. Can you mention or describe the value chain in the poetry industry? Our research has shown that there are areas of relevance of Spoken Word Poetry to individuals, companies and Countries. These are basically the benefits derivable from poetry and categorized into what I call the 8 Es. They are as follows: Education Employment Entrepreneurship Expression Entertainment Empowerment Emotional Therapy Emotional Intelligence. Are you married? Yes. Please tell us about your family? I am married to a blessed and lovely lady and we have two amazing and wonderful children. And there is no minority claim in the gender distribution. http:///2Eq1o7M

Alexander Buds, a Doctoral scholar from the University of Edinburgh Scotland and Hope University England has shared exclusively with DAILYFAMILY his wonderful experience in Nigeria and the hospitality he enjoyed during his stay. In this interview with him, he took us through his wonderful time in Nigeria, the level of acceptability he enjoyed with each family he visited and dropped with us some amazing memory of his two years stay here. Can we meet you please? My name is Alexander Buds. I am doing a PhD in the University of Edinburgh Scotland and Hope University Englands. I came to Nigeria two years ago. What has been your experience with families in Nigeria? I have had a lot of experience with families here. I have stayed with a host family in Lagos. My first host family was in Ogba this is newly married couple, Banke and Taiwo. They help me settle down in Lagos. I stayed in their house for more than six month. What was the hospitality like with the Taiwos when you stayed with them? Well they really included me in all of their family events. The first week they took me to a family wedding and when there was a new baby in the family, i was included in all of the family event. So that means you went to the baby's christening? Not a christening but i went to the hospital to visit the lady who put to bed. You must have tasted some Nigerian delicacies. We are so sure you must have. Can you tell us some of them? I spent a lot of time in the east and i like white soup (ofe nsala), i like goat meat . You know we don't have it too much in England. I like garri, it's heavy and fills me up. Relating families in the UK and families in Nigeria, what is the difference? I think the extended family is more important here, because nuclear family is more important in the UK. I have experienced some really nice hospitality here in the way people are open to include me into their families here they wouldn't over there. At times i have seen serious family conflicts. Some times I have seen the good times and the bad things. Through out your stay in Nigeria have you been able to learn some new phrase, slang or have you been able to learn a new language? I tried igbo but mainly i have been picking up pidgin. So can you try something now? How levels naw, wats popping, you be smoke picking, i will show you pepper. So far your stay in Nigeria, do you feel any sense of belonging here or do you feel you should come back to Nigeria once again? Well, this is already my third time in Nigeria and i think i can tell you i am definitely coming back. Will you say Nigerian families are interesting or boring? Never boring. What is the interesting thing about Nigerian families? Nigerian families are very traditional.' https://dailyfamily.ng/nigerian-families-are-very-tradition-scottish-scholar/
