PoliticsBreaking: NDDC: Forensic Auditors Attacked In Port-harcourt by Nigerdeltaent(op):
As stern efforts are being made by the President Buhari led administration to bring to justice those who had turned the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to their ATM machine for years, some guilty elements have started another miscalculated campaign of threats to the forensic auditors appointed to undertake the forensic auditing of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This uncanny move by detractors of truth reveals yet another progression of desperation from those who do not want the progress of the Niger Delta region.

In their first attempt, they engineered and initiated an unnecessary probe in order to create a smokescreen of confusion just to avert justice.

Today, the vehicle conveying the forensic auditors was attacked in Port Harcourt the capital of Rivers State by sponsored thugs who threatened to deal with them if they continued the auditing. They also alleged to know where the auditors were lodging and would launch an attack if they continued with the exercise.

This act is greatly condemned by many Nigerians especially those from the Niger Delta Region who want all those involved in the misappropriation of NDDC funds in the past, brought to book.

For those who have allowed themselves to be used as tools of destruction, is it not shameful that the NDDC, with much allocation, has experienced little or no concrete development for years?

Is it not tear-jerking that the NDCC ranks very high for abandoned projects despite the billions of naira pumped into the commission for years?

For how long should we keep quiet for them to continue using the NDCC as their CASH COW while the good people of Niger Delta continue to suffer underdevelopment?

Why can’t we support this audacious step by Mr. President to bring sanity to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)?

Let it be on record that no matter their evil ploy to stop the truth, this forensic audit is bound to expose all of them.

We salute the courage of our able Hon. Minister of Niger Delta Affairs (Senator Godswill Akpabio) to ensure that the corruption that bedeviled this commission for years is put to an end.

We call on our security agencies to expedite actions in bringing these unscrupulous elements who parade themselves as thugs to order.

We call on the management of the NDDC to continue their appreciable efforts towards providing a conducive and safe environment for the forensic auditors to continue this redemptive exercise.

We shall rise and continue to seek accountability from our leaders (present and past) and those who have the privilege of representing us in public offices.

Let it be on record that we will not stop our positive agitations for this forensic audit to be completed and those found culpable, brought to justice.

BIG DAY, SMALL PLANS: Eket couple gets creative for wedding downsized due to COVID-19

Big weddings are out during the coronavirus pandemic Lockdown in Akwa Ibom. So, one bride and groom scaled down their plans when they got married last week.

ND REPORTERS was there to see it because the bride and I hail from same community. Glory Nsubong said her friend and husband, Uduakobong Owo and Nsikan Akpan, had big plans when they first got engaged.

“Originally they were going to do it up. They were going to have a big church wedding in Eket. Then they were going to follow it with a gigantic reception at Madelyn Hotel," Glory said. "They were planning to do all the traditional wedding things, and also do the white wedding with over 10 bridesmaids and groomsmen. So, it was going to be a pretty big wedding.”

With all of those plans on hold due to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus, the couple planned a smaller – much smaller – wedding at Uduakobong Owo’s family house. But they still wanted to find a way to include all of their guests, so what was meant to be an indoor affair nearly became outdoor event.

There was no way these two lovebirds were going to postpone this wedding as the groom really anticipated this event and it was his birth month, so he was excited and wanted it to happen despite the lockdown. "This period was important to me because it’s my birth-week. So we kind of wanted to encapsulate our relationship in my most exciting moments," Nsikan said.

Mr/Mrs Nsikan Akpan originally planned to host a large wedding ceremony with about 600 guests. Instead, they had a significantly scaled-down service because of the coronavirus pandemic.

MORALS:
Instead of postponing your wedding to God knows when this pandemic will be over, take advantage of the situation and spend less.
Afterall, MARRIAGE is not actually the ceremony, but the REAL MARRIAGE begins after the ceremony.
Once again, Congratulations to the latest couple in town, MR/MRS NSIKAN AKPAN. Happy Married life.

The picture below depicts the situation as at today. When this crisis is all over, science will be kicked to the background while religion will take the Centre stage and the glory. The survivors of Coronavirus will give glory to God and pastor will collect Coronavirus survival thanksgiving offering. Nobody will remember to thank the doctors, nurses, pharmacologists, virologists, lab technicians and all other scientists that were at the forefront of the battle against the virus.

This is the sad reality of the world we live in. Religion always disappear when there is problem only to reappear and take the glory once the problem is solved.

COOPA partners Lagos-Based Real Estate Firm to tackle Housing needs in Nigeria

Barely 24 hours after the launch of #ExperienceAkwaIbom Campaign by the Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA) at the just concluded Social Media Week Lagos, the body is partnering with the Revelation Properties Group, an indigenous Real Estate Company in Lagos, to address the ever-increasing housing deficit in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.

Revelation Properties Group is the firm behind several real estate packages such as Landshop.ng, Alacrity City, Lagos; Heritage Homes, Ogun State, Stonecreek Estate, Covenant Estate, Ogun, Maiyegun Beach Estate, ADIVA 2, Emotan Gardens, Benin City, Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate and several projects in Ibeju Lekki including Merit Park, Famous Garden, Green Island, Celebrity Heaven, Country Home and Blue Diamonds.

In its bid to tackling housing issues in Akwa Ibom State, the firm recently acquired land along Airport Road in Uyo for Ibom Estate.

Receiving COOPA delegation on Friday at the Firm's Head Office, Chevron Drive, Lekki Phase 1, Director of Realtors in Revelation Properties Group, Dr Edwin Eno said the Company hopes to provide cost-effective, genuine, Greenfield Real Estate Projects across Nigeria.

Eno who conducted the delegation round the Firm's Head Office, opined that the familiarity visit will foster cordial working relationship between the Revelation Properties Group and COOPA and further expressed confidence in the delegation's ability to market the real estate company.

The delegation was later taken round the Maiyegun Beach Estate Site by the Group Managing Director, Prince David Omaghomi who urged the tech-savvy COOPA contingents to help in creating awareness for the Firm.

Deputy Chancellor of COOPA, Mr Aniekan Ekah who spoke on behalf of the delegation, assured the Firm of COOPA'S readiness to partner the Real Estate Company to realise its core mandate.

The Experience Akwa Ibom Campaign, according to the Chancellor of COOPA, Mr Ifreke Nseowo, is geared towards advancing narratives that will unveil the beauty of Akwa Ibom State to the world in order to attract investment into the State.

BBC host COOPA as Media body calls for creation of 'BBC Ibibio' Service

The Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State, COOPA has called on the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC to include Efik/Ibibio among their language services.

BBC currently has foreign language output of 33 languages, of which five are African languages with Hausa, Igbo and Pidgin Service making the list of BBC language service in Nigeria.

COOPA made the call today at the Lagos Office of BBC when select members of COOPA paid the Broadcast organization a courtesy visit.

According to the Chancellor of COOPA, Ifreke Nseowo, BBC stands to benefit greatly when it makes provision for Efik/Ibibio language service in its broadcast programmes.

He offered insight to the fact that Akwa Ibom State and Cross River State who speak the language are blessed with unique features that will give BBC rich news content.

Nseowo said BBC in return should create programmes in Efik/ Ibibio language as that will not only excite the people but will generate more listeners to BBC.

The Chancellor added "I can confidently tell you that you have a good market in Akwa Ibom State. Our State is monolithic in language. Everyone in the state and most parts of Cross River understand the Efik/Ibibio language.

"Moreover, the state is very media conscious. And we all know that nothing endears one more than his mother tongue. Thus, when you create BBC Efik/Ibibio language service just as you have created BBC pidgin and Hausa, you are invariably building more reach and value through your content. Don't forget too that Ibibio is the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria."

Nseowo who took out time to explain why Akwa Ibom State is worth projection through a media organization like BBC, said COOPA is ready to attract BBC to news items that may interest them in the State and also support them by sharing their reports.

In response, Head of BBC Pidgin, BBC World Service, Mr. Usifo Omozokpea thanked COOPA for the visit.

He applauded the group over the the interest in BBC and their determination to maximize online presence to tell the story of the State.

The BBC team which received COOPA had in attendance Marina Forsythe, the Communications Executive, BBC World Service and Idongesit Essien, News Director, BBC.

Members of COOPA were shown round the facilities of BBC by the News Director, Idongesit Essien.
