A frontline aspirant for the governorship seat in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Akan Udofia, caused a major stir at the PDP National Convention on Saturday, October 30, 2021, when he stormed the Eagle Square venue against some negative speculations to the contrary. Prior to the billionaire’s significant entrance to the PDP Convention, there were also some wild doubts as to his membership of the party. However, led by a retinue of supporters to the Akwa Ibom stand, the strategic entrance the GMD of Decison Group of Companies took some Akwa Ibom delegates at the convention by surprise, with many rushing to exchange pleasantries with him. Most of his supporters, dressed in black or white “Akan Udofia” T-shirts, sang and danced to herald the frontline contender. Most of the songs centered on the hitherto silent humanitarian efforts of the aspirant. Aside from the “AKProsperity” umbrellas displayed by Udofia’s supporters, there were others used by the food vendors right from the entrance of the Eagle Square. Udofia’s banners conspicuously displayed around the venue also proclaimed the expected prosperity to be ushered into Akwa Ibom by the international businessman. Udofia, displaying his trade mark humility, went round paying homage to prominent politicians at the venue, including the state Governor. At the VIP stand, where he eventually sat with Governor Udom Emmanuel, the two prominent sons of Akwa Ibom state were seen engaging in animated discussion, apparently centering on how to improve the social and economic fortunes of the state. Addressing some Akwa Ibom people in Abuja later, Udofia promised to focus on tourism, human development and economic empowerment. Udofia who grew his father’s company from a 15-member establishment to 4,700 global concern, said he has the pedigree to change the economic fortunes of Akwa Ibom state by bringing in his relevant foreign partners. https://www.ndreporters.com/2021/10/30/akan-udofia-storms-pdp-convention/

SONG + VIDEO REVIEW: AniJamz #ChopAm Aniebiet Double James” popularly known as AniJamz hails from Akwa Ibom State. His latest song 'Chop Am' features rising Stars, Bravado ( Manlike Brav ) & Feelingz Mbu The visual premiered on MTV Base , Hit TV and other stations. The video was shot in Uyo, Nigeria and directed by Elyshotit starring Ikpa Udo & @LJ Saviooor. Initially, I am not a kind of Music Analyst that drums fanfare or accolades on people anyhow. First I watched 'Chop Am' on MTV base, then on Hit TV again, I started hearing in on local Radio stations and streets was catching the vibes. So I was curious and decided to take a critical study of this cool jam and why Ani decides to invest in it so much. First, The song talks about the 'Walkaholic Spirit' of Akwa Ibom youths with big dreams of buying their mother cars, house etc. He went on to state that every youth is not too small to live a good life, drive good cars, etc. and then, at the end he added, Please after this hard hustle, don't forget to 'Chop Am'. in other words, when you work, make sure to chop too. afterall, All work without flexxing, makes Anijamz a dull boy. Lyrical Rating: 6:10 Audio Production Rating: 7/10 Video Rating: 9/10 So what are you waiting for, join the league of 'Chop Am' fans now and support our own to grow bigger. One of the leading contenders for the governorship seat in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Akan Udofia, has assured his teeming supporters of his plan to change the economic fortunes of the state, once given the opportunity. Udofia told some critical PDP stakeholders from all the senatorial districts of the state that he recently signed partnership documents with some foreign companies in Dubai to established their factories soon in Akwa Ibom state. The gathering had past national and state legislators led by some ex-speakers; former council chairmen and other functionaries; ward leaders; senior politicians, former aides to governors, women mobilizers, among others. The international business mogul who brought them a message of hope, said if he could grow his father’s company, Desicon Engineering, from a 15-member concern to a global brand with 4,700 staff, he can also grow the economy of the state. While stating that his focus will be on improving and strengthening the economy, Udofia stressed that he was out to contest to the very end, insisting that nobody can buy him out. According to him, once the citizens have been rightly empowered, the society can take its rightful position as even insecurity will reduce to the minimum. He pledged to carry everyone along in his government, should he be given the chance. Udofia commended Gov Udom Emmanuel on the strides taken so far but promised to do the entire Akwa Ibom proud by improving on the governor’s foundation and initiating more laudable schemes. Speakers at the event were blunt but assured Udofia of their support, in the confidence that by the recent legislative proposal of direct primaries, all of them may soon be delegates. They were full of appreciation to the Senate, stating that the move towards returning powers to the people will seriously check imposition of mediocre on the polity. Many of them praised Udofia for his hitherto quiet efforts at assisting subsequent governments in the state, championing various social services, including free medical outreaches, building of schools and hostels, churches and dishing out startups to some small business owners. #AkProsperity! #Ak #AkwaIbomTwitter

…Celebrates 3yrs of operations/Achievement with launch of Angency logo and website The Akwa Ibom state Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA) has pledged to up its ante in protecting the State environment. This was the position of the Agency’s Board Chairman, Prince Akpan Ikim on Monday, September 6, 2021, when he gave a detailed analysis of the Agency’s achievments in the past three years of his administration. Ikim who recalled the lapses observed in the Board’s activities prior to his appointment, noted that “the reconstitution of AKSEPWMA was borne out of the vision of the Governor for a safer, cleaner and sustainable environment for all, which has allowed for industrialization and investment opportunities to thrive” and that “the years from 2018 to date have not only witnessed a speed-of-light progression of activities, but a time line hall-marked in commitment to the duty of transforming the Akwa Ibom State Environment, through global best practices and cutting-edge approaches on environmental management, to the arousal of national and international applause. The lapses he said, included: environmental contamination, flooding, poor vegetation control, blocked drainages, ineffective waste disposal system, leading to environment-related illnesses and an inconducive environment generally. He however lauded the efforts and initiatives of his men as well as the cooperation of Akwa Ibomites in the successes recorded by the AKSEPWMA so far. “Through our operational models and initiatives, in these three years, Akwa Ibom State has emerged the Cleanest State back to back for years: 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively. This achievement is a rare feat for the state since its creation in 1987. And it is hitherto attributable to the effort the agency has conceived in its in-time”. He listed the achievements of the Agency to include: the wealth from waste initiative; a positive increment in vegetation control clicks; managing and ensuring the sustainability of dumpsites; enabling community participation in waste management; repeal of environmental laws; introduction of the greater Akwa Ibom clean-up campaign and fortifying the environment against the infection and spread of covid-19 and post covid-19 battles. Some public places decontaminated according to Prince Ikim are: DSS Headquarters, Uyo; Doctors Mess, Uyo; Isolation Center, Uyo; Ibom Specialty Hospital, Uyo; UUTH mortuary; Doctor’s quarters, UUTH; Emmanuel Hospital, Eket; Cottage Hospital, Urua Inyang, Ika LGA; General Hospital, Ikot Ekpene; Ambulances at Ibom Specialty Hospital; Govt. House; Akwa Ibom NUJ Secretariat Complex; Ministry of Local Government; SSG’s office and still counting. Going forward, the Chairman, AKSEPWMA informed the media of the introduction of the Special Sanitation corps, Market sanitation corps, Community sanitation corps, Clean-up club in schools, and AKSEPWMA enforcement unit to ensure the effectiveness of environmental sanitation across various facets of the society. Also to be sustained is the House-to-House Waste Management Initiative already practiced by the Agency at Ewet housing and Shelter Afrique Housing Estates, with 10 additional compacting trucks to be stationed within the estates. According to Ikim, the trucks which were donated as a reward to the Agency by the NDDC for emerging the cleanest state in Nigeria back to back, will serve as a means of boosting the revenue base of the state. “We have procured and deployed 20 out of 6000 litres of dump stirs waste receptacles by the agency to transfer stations within Uyo Capital City. In the years to come, we will continue to work with States, stakeholders, and local leaders to identify, aid, and empower areas most strained by Environmental challenges”, he stated. Highlights of the event was the presentation of the first-ever AKSEPWMA logo and the assessment of the vehicles donated by NDDC by members of the press. The AKSEPWMA was established in the year 2000 by a Parliamentary Act; AKWA IBOM STATE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT AGENCY LAW Cap 47, LAWS OF AKWA IBOM STATE. After its establishment, the agency went through a period of gestation for 18 years till 2018 when the Prince Ikim-led administration came on board. The reconstitution of AKSEPWMA, according to its Board Chairman, reaffirmed the right of Akwa Ibomites to breathe freely, live in an uncontaminated land and have a safe, green and healthy Environment. https://www.ndreporters.com/2021/09/07/akwa-ibom-environmental-agency-pledges-commitment-to-environment-protection/

I always try to remember that I am a work in progress. It is life's journey that matters and the turns I take will determine how much progress I make. You see, I am unique in my gifts and the purpose I was created for. When I get to heaven at the end of my journey, I will not be asked what gifts He gave me, but what I did with them. Each one of us is a work in progress, with a mission and purpose to fulfill that is uniquely ours. Keep that in mind as you move on in life, won't you? As our kids grow from toddlers to kindergarteners to preteens and teens,a funny thing happens. Our focus shifts. We no longer worry so much about just keeping them alive. Instead, as they slowly but surely become more independent, we think about what kind of people they’ll become. Our hope is that our kids will learn to live out good qualities like honesty, humility, trust, courage, patience, and forgiveness. That is the same scenario playing out in Akwa Ibom State. When Arc. Obong Victor Attah became the governor of this relatively unknown, unpopular state; even it's citizens were identified as Calabar people; even it's citizens were ashamed of being identified as Akwa Ibom people and also ashamed of identifying with fellow Akwa Ibom indigenes outside; we were ashamed of our dialect, names, and even Culture. Arc. Obong Victor Attah came in with some lovely roadmaps to redesigning Akwa Ibom into a modern 21st century state that will be befitting of an oil producing state. Obong Attah is the Architect of Uyo Master Plan; Initiated the Ibom international Airport with a hanger and maintenance facility; Initiated Ibom power plant project even before Rivers and Lagos States government contemplated and copied; Obong Attah laid the foundation of Akwa Ibom State University; Inspired the birth of Ibom Ship building yard, and the world class five Star Le Meridien Hotel and golf resort , the best in Nigeria (With 18 holes golf Course and 9 holes practice pitch); The recreation Centre , Ibom plaza was also his brain child; Obong Attah upgraded Uyo from a mere State Capital to a city with Excellent dualized Roads and modern facilities; Obong Attah reactivated Champion Breweries; Obong Attah initiated the design for a deep-sea port at Ibaka; Obong Attah won the 13% derivation, during the battle of the onshore/offshore oil dichotomy, which brought about improved inflow of funds to the state; After Obong Victor Attah left Office, Dr. Godswill Akpabio took over and completed almost all, if not all the Victor Attah initiated projects and went further to initiate more road dualization projects in other towns like Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and others. Obong Godswill Akpabio initiated the plan of an International Stadium in Akwa Ibom State, and that stadium today plays host to Akwa UTD home games. Akwa UTD went on to win the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) title in barely 25years of it's creation. And then came Mr Udom Emmanuel, the Mr Industrialization of our time. I must say that I didn't really like this man from day one, but as God will have it, slowly, he's proving his mantle; from the numerous industries he has wooed into the states like; Ibom Air; Syringe Factory; Electricity Metering Company; Ibom deep Seaport; Federal University of Technology; and even went further on Infrastructural developments like; the Dakkada Towers; more road dualization in other towns like in Eket Senatorial District and Uyo Axis as well. and many others I must confess that God has really made it in a way that among all the succeeding governors, none has thought it to abandon projects initiated by the previous administration. if any, just a few. But now, what is our role in helping our State maintain this momentum? Here’s something important to remember as you consider: God has made each one of us in His image, with the ability to live with integrity and demonstrate His character to others. Apostle Paul said that when we follow God and make choices that honor Him, our actions will actually show the evidence — that other people will be able to see the proof of what God is doing in our land. Paul referred to that evidence, or proof, as the “fruit of the Spirit.” Paul wrote: The fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself (Galatians 5:22-23a NIV). When it’s hard for us to be patient on any administrator of this state because we want what we want now now, . . . don’t worry. Akwa Ibom is a work in progress. When you seem to be worried about the state of no jobs in the state... take a deep breath. Akwa Ibom State is a work in progress. Just like we came from being addressed as 'Calabar People', to now being known proudly as 'Akwa Ibom people' Akwa Ibom State is a Work in Progress. No Governor can do it all on his own, We all need each other's help, encouragement and support. It can be tempting to want everything about Akwa Ibom to happen immediately, But Space, time, right men in office, our contributory efforts, positive criticism. At times A leader may not impress us at the start, but towards the end, his light starts shining. Just remember, Akwa Ibom is a work in progress! In Akwa Ibom State, the rescheduled All Progressives Congress (APC) Congresses have have failed to take off as anarchy and confusion reigns supreme. The Congress is meant to elect officers of the Party at the Ward levels across the country save for states where the party hierarchy says will hold on later dates. At the Akwa Ibom State secretariat of the party located on Ikot Ekpene road in the heart of Uyo, a motley crowd of party members were seen loitering around and outside the gates which were locked from within. Bonfires have been set and the flags razed by angry party men. As at the time of this report, the gates had been forced open while officials have vanished from sight. From reports, materials meant for the Congresses were clandestinely released to members of Congress Committees who are known supporters of Senator John Udoedehe. Senator Udoedehe is the National Secretary of the Caretaker Committee/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party. His ambition to become Governor of Akwa Ibom State on the Party's ticket is an open secret. The Uyo-born politician has been recently described by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as "a serial Governorship aspirant". He is seen as a force to be reckoned with within the party given his position and grassroots appeal. Today's event has confirmed long-held fears in some quarters that the exercise will not be free and fair given the Senator's vaulting ambition. It is believed that the materials which are strictly in the hands of the Senator's cronies, may have been filled and returned with predetermined names that will form the base structure at the Ward level in the event of primaries. While uneasy calm continues to hover around the legality of the Caretaker Committee led by Governor Mai Buni of Yobe State, the days and weeks ahead will surely hold interesting moments. WHILE THE WORLD IS EXPLORING, INVENTING AND CREATING OPPORTUNITIES, NIGERIANS ARE IN PRAYER HOUSES CONSUMING WHILE AWAITING THE SOON COMING OF JESUS When the World Richest men like Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos , Elon Musk are exploring the Space, Mars for new inventions, Nigerians are sleeping in Prayer houses with 'Jesus is coming very soon' & 'God will Help Us' mentality. LET ME STATE THIS CLEARLY; Even if Jesus is to come very soon, clergy men should stop using that phrase, along with 'Hell Fire is very hot and a forever tormenting place' to scare people into giving their life to Christ because that is not true Repentance. True Repentance is born out of a convicted heart that truly, God is Love and that can only be achieved when the people see God's love all over you (Matt. 5:16). Even @ 70, Richard Branson (CEO, Virgin Galactic ), Jeff Bezos (CEO of Amazon.com ), Elon Musk (CEO of SpaceX ) are exploring the Space, Mars to create possible new inventions. That is using God's wisdom to open up more knowledge for betterment of life, thereby creating more employment and opportunities. That is a POWERFUL LOVE that Nigeria is far from understanding. WHILE THE WORLD IS DISCOVERING, NIGERIANS ARE shamelessly CONSUMING even after leaving their respective Prayer Houses/Churches Las Las, am beginning to think that Nigerians are not God's descendants, maybe we are a descendant of another god and perhaps, the god is angry that we've abandoned him, while even the God of Isreal is denying us too. Are we even from Isreal or any White nation that we claim this their 'white' God even more than the original owners? (I might be wrong though ) But if you think we are, please when next you pray, just speak in tongues because sincerely speaking, NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW NIGERIA's PROBLEM again. Just be speaking in tongues and the God who actually understands our problem will give us Divine insight/knowledge to solve them. Sincerely, Nigeria needs men with divine knowledge and insight to turn thing around for good. ASK YOURSELF, CAN I BE THE ONE GOD WILL USE TO CHANGE NIGERIA'S FORTUNE FOR GOOD? Or you are ok joining the bandwagon? Am totally confident that Nigeria is blessed with Natural Resources and also Human Resources to turn things for good. It may tarry, the bad eggs might be there for a while, but sooner or later, I feel FRESH AIR blowing across our Country soon. If you believe in that last paragraph, then start working on yourself today, you may just be one of the CHANGE AGENTS GOD IS PREPARING AS AN INSTRUMENT TO CHANGE OUR COUNTRY FOR GOOD. USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, ENGLAND, CHINA, UAE, MALAYSIA, Israel etc. All these great nations don't have leaders with two heads, They simply have leaders with LOVE and ready to develop their nation for the betterment of all. Nigeria can also get there. JUST THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. GOD BLESS US ALL WITH THE REQUIRED WISDOM NEEDED FOR THIS MASSIVELY REQUIRED CHANGE, AMEN. I remain, Udo-Akagha (Peasy) Inyang (21st Century Traditionalist & Techprenuer)

RE: LETTER TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ON CONSTITUTION OF THE MANAGEMENT BOARD OF NDDC: ORON UNION AND SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT Alhaji Mohammadu Buhari, The President and Commander in Chief, Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Aso Rock, Abuja. It has become necessary to react to the “ADVERTORIAL” by Oron Union carried in THE POST WEEKDAY newspaper of 14th July 2021 titled “ An open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari Re: Constitution of the Management of Board of NDDC: Setting the Records Straight”. The purpose of this response is to avail interested members of the public the opportunity to assess the issues at stake and decide for themselves whether or not Oron Union has “set the records straight” as she would want the public to believe. It would be recalled that on 7th July 2021 Ekid People’s Union wrote an open letter to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari in their bid to make a case for appointment of her indigenes into, the yet to be constituted Management Board of the NDDC. The letter urged Mr. President to respect the criteria for appointments into the Board as provided for by the NDDC Establishment Act 2000. Ekid Union noted that in the NDDC Act 2000, provision has been made for rotation of the positions to the Board among member States as well as the core oil producing Local Government Areas of the constituent States of the commission. Mention was specifically made that the Presidency did not follow the law in the appointment of the Executive Director, Finance and Administration (EDFA) into the last Interim Board, neither was the moral persuasion that presented itself at that time taken into consideration. Their argument is that the EDFA position should have gone to somebody from Eket Local Government Area that has not produced any Board or Representative member, since the inception of NDDC in 2000 till now, instead of someone from Okobo Local Government Area; or in the alternative an indigene of Esit Eket Local Government Area should have been considered to compensate for the loss of Mr. Ibanga Etang from Esit Eket Local Government Area, the immediate past occupant of the office who died untimely in active service. From the simple but civilly worded letter of request to Mr. President by the Ekid Union for appointment of her indigenes into the NDDC Board, Oron Union has come up with a reply that raised so many issues; some of which must be addressed in order to guide the unsuspecting public from being misled, considering the fact that Oron Union is a very outstanding and formidable ethnic union in Nigeria, thus there is that temptation to take all she says as an absolute truth. While, it is agreed that Oro Nation or what is politically referred to as Oron Federal Constituency consists of the five (5) Local Government Areas of Mbo, Okobo, Oron, Urue Offong Oruko and Udung Uko it is incorrect to tag these 5 Local Government Areas as littoral or coastal areas they do not directly abort the Atlantic Coastline. They may be regarded as shoreline Local Government Areas. The second issue is that it is absolutely untrue that the five (5) Oro Nation Local Government Areas are the largest oil/gas producing community accounting for over eighty percent (80%) of Akwa Ibom State oil production figure to the Federal purse. The implication from this Oron Union’s postulation is an attempt to cajole and misled the public to believing that Ibeno Local Government Area, Eket Local Government Area, Esit Eket Local Government Area, Onna Local Government Area, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area and Eastern Obolo Local Government Area that are known and associated with the prolific oil wells of the Niger Delta Basin are accountable to only less than twenty percent (20%) of the Akwa Ibom State total oil output. Why was it necessary for Oron Union to use the Federal Constituency as the basis for reporting on the quantum of oil production in Akwa Ibom State whereas the DPR reports with the Local Government Area as the basic unit? If we were to go by this logic, it can as well be stated that Uyo Federal Constituency is oil bearing, because Uruan Local Government Area, a component part of the Constituency, is oil bearing. It is therefore untrue and misleading for Oron Union to describe all the five Local Government Areas of the Oron Constituency as oil/gas producing. The record with the DPR does not say so. The report of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC, 2000) recognized the following Local Government Areas as oil producing in Akwa Ibom State, they are: Ibeno, Eket, Esit Eket, Onna, Ikot Abasi, Eastern Obolo, Mkpat Enin and Mbo Local Government Areas. Each entity has her quantum of oil production attached, and it would be ridiculous to think or expect any sensible person to believe that Mbo Local Government Area alone would have an oil production figure higher than the figures of the other seven(7) Local Government Areas combined, as Oron Union has repeatedly stated. It is also very unfortunate that the Oron Union believes that the Resolution of the National Assembly as the one passed on 16th May, 2012 can turn an oil bearing or a non oil bearing community to an oil producing community. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended has not given the Legislative body the authority to do so. The powers to decide on the status of a community as to whether such is oil producing or not reside with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), who are working in concert with the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). What purpose did conveying the Resolution passed by the National Assembly recognizing Oron Federal Constituency as oil producing community to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and MD, NDDC on 9th July, 2012 serve? Wouldn’t it have saved time and energy to channel any complaint about the oil producing status of the Oro 5 Local Government Areas through the NNPC and DPR that have authority on this matter than engage the services of the National Assembly? Oron Union knows and has listed the oil companies currently operating within the region in question, to include Moni Pulo, Addax, Universal Energy, Oriental Energy, Shell Petroleum, Amocon, Total E&P and ExxonMobil. It is a known fact that these companies were assigned their acreages for operation by NNPC and DPR, so the latter know the owners of the territory that these companies are operating from. It is mandatory that the oil companies report to the Joint Venture or Regulatory Partner, the NNPC and DPR the oil production figures on a regular basis. It is therefore the DPR and NNPC that know which communities are oil producing as well as their quantum of production. Another issue that needs to be addressed in all the inaccurate points thrown up by the Oron Union’s write-up is the un-warranted and uncharitable attempt to try to portray both Eket and Esit Eket as being land locked Local Government Areas. It is a known fact that the Ekid people of Eket and Esit Eket Local Government Areas are the bona-fide owners of Akoiyak land of the south eastern Nigeria. This land is also known as the Stubb’s Creek Forest Reserve. The ownership of this land had long been settled and confirmed by the Privy Council Judgment of 1916 and 1918 in England. The Federal Government constituted Justice Akpata’s Commission of Enquiry of 1993 also re-affirmed the position of the Privy Council Judgment and the ownership of the Akoiyak land by Ekid peole. Since the decisions by the learned judges in favour of the Ekid people, there has been no contradictory legal opinion and there will never be. For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the geography and the environmental set-up, Akoiyak is a strip of mangrove swamp and wetland forest of a few kilometers in width, stretching from the left of Qua Iboe River to eastwards to Okposo fishing settlements and it aborts directly the Atlantic Seaboard. Since the Ekid people are the owners of the Akoiyak land or Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve, and this land is not only contiguous with the sea but directly aborts the Atlantic seaboard, how can and why would any right thinking person describe Eket and Esit Eket as being landlocked? Akwa Ibom State is classified as a littoral or coastal State only because of the stretch of this Ekid ancestral Akoiyak land which is in contiguity with the Atlantic Ocean. As Oron Union has rightly slated, over 90% of Akwa Ibom State oil output is from the off-shore environment in the continental shelf. A coastline must abort a community or a Local Government Area before the latter can be regarded as littoral, and hence be accredited with oil production figures from the off-shore oil wells within its longitudinal coordinates. It is for this reason that the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2012 held that Cross River State is a non-littoral and a non-oil producing state after the whole Bakassi Peninsula inclusive of Western Bakassi which made Cross River State littoral was ceded to the Republic of Cameroon from Nigeria by the judgment of the International Court of Justice in 2002. Since Cross River State is not producing from any known on-shore well, it returns with zero allocation from the Derivation Fund. Cross River State is also not a Maritime State and it is doubtful if there is at the moment a maritime boundary between the Cross River State and Akwa Ibom State, after same was obliterated following the implementation by Nigeria of that ruling of the International Court of Justice. Meanwhile, the Oron Union is claiming that Oron Federal Constituency is sharing a Maritime boundary with Cross River State. It is the opinion of Oron Union that the 76 off-shore oil wells that the court decision went against Cross River State in favour of Akwa Ibom State are now owned by the latter because they are in Oro waters. This does not sound logical in anyway. To know whether those off-shore oil wells are in Oro waters and can be credited to Oron Federal Constituency, the coastline (not shoreline) must be projected or extended from the point at Qua Iboe River estuary, straight eastward to see which land of the 5 Local Government Areas the projected or extended coastline has aborted in order to give it a littoral status. Longitudinal coordinates of the off-shore oil wells should also be taken into account in deciding where the wells belong. Oron Union must first and foremost find out how littoral the Oron Federal Constituency is and if on the positive; the length of its coastline (not shoreline) compared to the stretch from Ikot Abasi axis in the west to Okposo settlement in the east to justify the claim of having the majority (over 80%) share of production of the over 90% of the Akwa Ibom State oil that is derived from the off-shore environment. It is important we keep these records straight for posterity. The record of appointments into the NDDC Board since its inception in 2000 as presented in the write-up by Oron Union should be kept in view and judged with the provision in the NDDC Act (2000) on Appointments in mind. From the table of NDDC Board appointments with published names from the inception till date as supplied by Oron Union, it is clear that out of the seven (7) Commissioner/State Representative positions that were given to Akwa Ibom State; three (3) went to Esit Eket Local Government Area, two (2) were held by Mkpat Enin Local Government Area while one (1) each was given to Ikot Abasi and Mbo Local Government Areas. The table also listed eight ( positions in theExecutive Cadre where Ibeno Local Government Area enjoyed three (3) slots, Esit Eket had two (2), while Onna, Ikot Abasi and Okobo Local Government Areas had one (1) position each. It is to be noted that Okobo Local Government Area is not reflected on the DPR record as an oil producing community. The Oron Union tabulation of appointments on the Board of NDDC has clearly shown that Eket Local Government Area, one of the leading oil producing communities in Akwa Ibom State has not enjoyed any NDDC Board appointment since its inception in 2000, thus justifying the complaints in that letter to Mr. President. The other oil producing community that has so far also not been considered in the NDDC appointment is Eastern Obolo Local Government Area. In conclusion, it is a well known fact that oil companies like Universal (Savanah) Energy and Moni Pulo are producing oil from the on-shore environment of Mbo Local Government Area in the so called marginal field. But this field is in no way as prolific as the off-shore counterparts. The on-shore wells at Mbo, Esit Eket and others account for less than 10% of the Akwa Ibom State total oil output, while the major production is from the off-shore wells scattered about on the continental shelf. Secondly, only those littoral Local Government Areas can rightly claim the share in the production from the off-shore wells. Eket Local Government Area and Esit Eket Local Government Area are littoral and cannot be described as land locked because their ancestral Akoiyak land is in direct contact with the Atlantic seaboard. Eight Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State are currently recognized by DPR as oil producing and they are: Ibeno, Eket, Esit Eket, Onna, Ikot Abasi, Eastern Obolo, Mkpat Enin and Mbo Local Government Areas. Out of these, only Eket and Eastern Obolo Local Government Areas are yet to get appointments into the NDDC Board. It is only the DPR and NNPC that have the records and authority to decide on the oil producing status of any community. The idea of dragging in the National Assembly to play this role is abnormal and must be discouraged. Further exchange of hot words between the two respectable Unions of Ekid and Oro over this issue of pending NDDC Board appointments for Akwa Ibom State may not be necessary. We can only pray and hope that the guideline in the NDDC Act on appointments is respected. The government has the record and knows from where it should normally make the appointments. Etie Ben Akpan, Ph.D Professor of Paleontology and Marine Ecology Cc: Senate President, Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Secretary of the Federation, Chief of Staff to the President, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chairman PANDEF.

The Senior Pastor of Full Life Christian Center, Rev. Ntia I. Ntia came under heavy Critism after a video of his Sunday service leaked which exposed the Akwa Ibom top clergy criticizing the wealth of Obi Cubana. It would be recalled that over the weekend, Obi Cubana buried his mother and His Committee of friends turned what was meant to be just a beautiful burial into a carnival. over 200 cows and millions were donated, and as if that was not enough, friends of Obi Cubana, led by his number one follower, Chief Priest Cubana, led in what was tame, the display of financial power. Money was flying everywhere. infact in one of the videos, two people were stoning each other with bundles of cash. These didn't go down well with Rev. Ntia as he condemned the act and even used a popular street parlance, 'Yeye Dey Smell'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjiB0DhUDZg Well, the video leaked online and trust Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians as a whole didn't find it funny, insults upon insults is still reigning on the clergy. In another swift response, Chief Priest Cubana took a swift reply on the clergy as well to the amazement of his fans. Next time, Pastors should learn to focus on winning souls for Christ and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, and not promote envy right on pulpit. Some months ago, it could be recalled that same Rev. Ntia due to his reckless nature of driving, caused accident that nearly claimed a highly reputable Member of the Federal Character Commission, an accident he came out unhurt due to the protection in his SUV. instead of his members to be sympathetic with the woman, they were rather celebrating their Papa for coming out unhurt. Truly, in the words of Rev. Ntia I. Ntia, 'Yeye dey Smell'. Source: https://www.ndreporters.com/2021/07/21/akwa-ibom-pastor-under-heavy-attack-for-criticizing-obi-cubana/
