Wonders shall never end as Gov. Udom Emmanuel shows gross act of disloyalty to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate during the 2019 Presidential elections. Governor Udom Emmanuel was sighted in a private aircraft with top APC chieftains during one of his begging campaigns to join the ruling party. Being so scared of Obong Nsima Ekere, Governor Udom Emmanuel is trying to get the APC controlled federal government to support second term ambition even when records have clearly shown that he has under-performed. Speaking to one of our correspondents, an APC chieftain who decided to speak in anonymity said “I have never seen this kind of desperation before. Do you know that Udom Emmanuel went as far as meeting with the National Leader Asiwaju and even the Vice President? He is promising to decamp to the APC if supported to return for a second term”. Meanwhile efforts to reach the SSG in order to get comments or reactions was to no avail as his phone lines were not reachable. More details loading .........................................

Reports from credible sources have confirmed that after President Buhari emerged victorious in the February 23rd presidential elections, Governor Udom Emmanuel has made several efforts to plead with the President to support his second term reelection bid. Sensing imminent defeat, Governor Udom Emmanuel tried to lobby his way to power by begging the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to intercede on his behalf. Unfortunately, the reply he got from the National Leader was that it was too late. Could this be the end of Udom Emmanuel’s second term ambition? Why is Udom Emmanuel so threatened by President Buhari’s second visit to Akwa Ibom State within three months? More details loading…

In spite of the chronic power shortages in Akwa Ibom state, the $1.6bn QIPP power plant being built in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom is going be to supplying power exclusively to Kano. The Kano State Governor, Ganduje has signed an agreement with the managing director of the transmission company of Nigeria that ensures that all of the power put on-grid by the power plant will be delivered equivalently to Kano. Governor Udom Emmanuel has not commented on why Akwa Ibom state will not be receiving any of the power generated, in spite of announcing the initiative at the South South regional workshop and stakeholders forum on the ease of doing business in Nigeria held, in Uyo. Akwa Ibom citizens are perturbed at the development, at a recent forum of engineers held in Abak, the discussion was heated, with many engineers insisting that the state government ensure that at least 100mw of the power generated be reserved for use by Akwa Ibomites. The state government has not made any moves to fulfil the requests by the citizens and has not offered any comments so far on the matter.

The National bureau of statistics has released employment statistics, which show the oil rich Akwa Ibom State having the second highest unemployment rates at 36.58%. In spite of the massive oil revenues accruing to the state, and the industries that the Governor has claimed to be building, the unemployment numbers in the state have been climbing over the last four years. Emmanuel Ekong, a young man that our reporter met on Ikot Ekpene road complained loudly: “The Governor is building industries that nobody can see. They say we have toothpick factory, that we have tomato factory, but nobody is working in those factories and nobody is buying from those factories. In short, I do not believe any of this - I have never even see a photo of these factories”. The numbers on unemployment are further corroborated by numbers on mobile phone connectivity as released by the NCC - Akwa Ibom is one of the few states in Nigeria where mobile phone usage has actually dropped compared to a few years ago. That means that the average Akwa Ibomite can no longer afford to maintain a cell phone and purchase top-up. In the rural areas, the complaints are more bitter: “Udom Emmanuel is only interested in industries for the elite or that will make him look good to his friends in Lagos. Us on ground, we are seeing nothing, nothing.” Akwa Ibom receives the highest monthly oil derivation in the country, but with very little private industry, and with most citizens being employed by the civil service. The current political opponent of Udom, Nsima Ekere of the APC has vowed to change this, with his manifesto focused on financing private sector industries and stimulating the Akwa Ibom economy.

Shortly after taking office in 2015, the sum of N1.4bn was transferred out of the Akwa Ibom state government coffers into the accounts of a lawyer, Paul Usoro. The transfer of this money was not sanctioned by the state Government, and the purpose for which this money was transferred is yet unclear. According to the EFCC, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Paul Usoro and others “conspired among themselves to commit an offence - the conversion of the sum of N1, 400, 000, 000 (one billion four hundred and ten million naira) property of Government of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria”. The EFCC admits that Udom Emmanuel is “currently constitutionally immune to criminal prosecution”, however, the accomplices have been arraigned, and arrest warrants issued. It appears that the EFCC is waiting for the tenure of Udom Emmanuel to expire, after which he will also be similarly arraigned. The EFCC further stated Paul Usoro (SAN) who volunteered extra judicial statement confessing that the said N300,000,000.00 was his professional fees for handling Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s personal matter before the election tribunal. And that the remaining N400,000,000.00 was diverted to private use. Paul Usoro has previously been involved in bribery allegations, with two judges being dismissed for allegedly receiving bribes from him.

Lexie is a PH born Akwa Ibomite... He recently graduated with a degree in Marine Engineering from Akwa Ibom State University and is into the music business full time. He's into the pop and hip hop genre of music and is trying to bring a unique sound into the industry with a blend of the hip hop and pop genre which he'll call "hipop". He thinks music should be soul food n message conveying whether secular or gospel... "I want to bridge the gap between secular and gospel music". I was inspired to write my own version of Ajigijaga after listening to PH city's finest rapper Dr. Barz... I was inspired to write about the difficulties a typical "Christian youth" would encounter while trying to make it in the secular sphere of the art and that gave birth to Ajigijaga which is actually a cover of reminisce's Ajigijaga while I got the go ahead to use Dr.Barz chorus with a bit of my vocals in the back up says the young star in the making. Every February 14, people across the world exchange gifts with their loved ones in the name of St. Valentine Day. It is considered to be the best day to express your love and care for your special one or even express your feelings to the one you love. In that same spirit, 'Smile We Care' International Empowerment decided to share the little they have with the down-troden kids of the society that dont enjoy the warm care of biological parenting. Therefore, the group toured some selected Orphanage homes and hospitals in Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Kano State. According to the CEO of the NGO, Mr Inyang James who also doubles as the CEO of Yanky Media studios had this to say; "Oyes, thats our core values (Humanitarian Services) and we displayed it in action. Top Nollywood actor, Ime Bishop Umoh aka Okon Lagos has set the political scene in Akwa Ibom on fire by declaring supports for both Leading parties in the coming elections. Okon Lagos was seen few days ago campaigning for HE. Deac. Udom Emmanuel, the Akwa Ibom State Governor whom he is a Special Assistant on Ethical & Attitudinal Orientation. Few hours after the campaign, a video surfaced online showing same OKON LAGOS declaring support and canvassing support for the APC Governorship flagbearer, Obong Nsima Ekere. Though from the video, its clear that Okon Lagos did the video before having a rethink and returned to PDP where he is currently in its payroll. watch the two videos and drop your comment on what you think of Okon Lagos. AkwaCross most talked about artist on the political scene, IceKing boils back with yet another amazing tune titled HIGHER LEVEL. Iceking goes in to tell The audience his travails in the hands of his colleagues and political gladiators and says he is tired of the same level. That he wants a 'Higher Level'. I won't call this a beef track, but certainly ICEKING has made his mind known and certainly he means it when he says he is moving on to 'Higher Levels'. The song is uniquely rendered and has a stylish delivery. Feelingzbeatz produced this one again. This is one gospel tune that has been on the repeat ever since i downloaded it into my phone. The beautiful rendition of the song in 95% Ibibio dialect will surely make you to worship God in the Akwa Ibom way. This song starts out with an ibibio verse and later goes in with few English lines and back to Ibibio lines. Truly if you are proud of AkwaCross Entertainment and Ibibio dialect in particular, then this song will surely be your favorite ibibio worship song. Equally, the song qualifies as one of the most beautiful worship songs out of Nigeria in recent times. Song redition is great, Production is great, Mastering is great. Thumbs up Godfada Uko for this lovely worship tune you have blessed your generation with. Rating: 90%.
