gendebs,
Nice if you get waiver on your application fee but nobody can waive your I-20. The more waivers you get- that involves money- the more you are telling the VO you can not afford the school or pay for anything, be careful.

nnamdistan,
US credit cards are OK. There are several reasons why those others means are not available now, they will in the near future let your friend do it. Good luck.

shavel,
community colleges have smaller classrooms and there is more one on one with the instructors and the tuition is often cheaper which gives you value for your money, another consideration is, many community colleges partner with four year colleges and most of your credits will transfer.
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by naggy: 5:26am On Apr 22, 2011
nnamdistan if you read my last post I said someone here can pay your Sevis using "Western Union Quick Pay" check or money order. As long as you are a Nigerian student, you can't pay with a credit card no matter what - even if the person is in the US or using a credit card issued in the States. Once your SEVIS ID is entered into the online payment system it will automatically detect your identity and decline it. So the above are your only two options or better still go to the Seme place and diy.

thanks for the tips naggy. please this question is directed specifically to you. i have a friend in the US who is willing to help me pay the SEVIS fee and it seems like the western union quick pay is a very good option. she's saying she has no idea how to go about it. in fact she said she has never heard of anything like SEVIS before(can u imagine?). shes nigerian but shes been there since she was like 10. please can you help me on how she ll be able to help me do it in the Us,
waiting for your reply, thanks

Dartmouth College (New Hampshire) is one out of the six colleges/universities in the entire US that offers "full need blind financial aid" to international students and it's also reputed as an Ivy. Because of this, you should be able to get a picture of how competitive it will be getting into that school, I got a Nigerian friend though who attends there and according to him, if you are very lucky to get in there then you will most certainly be able to finance your education all the way regardless of your families economic status. The admission requirements isn't what I can start counting out here but it is way too much. If you are a fire brain then sure you can give it a shot, all the best!!!!

Then one thing about Massachusetts is that the city is relatively small and majority of the population are students because of the number of institutions there are numerous. If you are applying to top schools, you should be aware that they receive thousands of application worldwide so your chances of getting an admission decision could take up to months unlike when your applying to moderate ranked schools which could take as little as 2weeks. So check with the school's admission policy before you get committed to them, that's my best advise.

And as for those paying SEVIS fee, why would you want to waste your time and resources traveling all the way to another place just to get the fees paid. I will tell you this! If you got families here or a highly trusted friend, simply send them the $200 and ask them to pay it for you via "Western Union Quick Pay" or "check or money order". That was how I paid mine during my time so I didn't have to go through all those hassles. Please I ain't in no way soliciting to help anyone make any payment. I am only but sharing my own experience which I hope someone would find useful.

@kidUrbane, thanks for sharing that. I give my words that there is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing a community college. If you're in the right age (not so important) , the school is licensed, you know what you want and reasons for choosing that school as well as being able to convey it to the consular, you are as good as being on the edge like other applicants who are going with four year college's I-20. Like I keep saying and would never stop, your chances of getting a visa is 100% if you put everything to God. Don't trust your instincts or what others might say to you. It's appalling how some fellaz here have instilled false information and fear to applicants concerning this issue. It's totally FALSE. Good luck to you and should you require more scopes please share it on here and I hope to assist however I can.

Best wishes to you all finding their way here soon and once again I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all members, particularly those who were actively participating on this forum last year. It is not good that you came here and got all the info you needed which helped you secure your visa or not and at the end of the day, you are no where to be found. It is being very ungrateful, you guys should please come back and assist these upcoming ones. Don't forget sometime ago you were in the same shoes as them - being very anxious and seeking for information. Now that you made it through by God's grace, please show some appreciation by returning and share your experiences or make intellectual contributions . Peace out!!! smiley smiley smiley

GOD BLESS THIS GUY, BLESSED ARE THOSE THAT HAS GOTTEN THEIR NEEDS MET & THEY TOO ARE HAVING THE STRONG ZEAL TO HELP OTHERS.

Can anyone over there in US help me send a money order or bank check of $90 to my prospective school in AR and i will pay the money to any of your trusted relations back here in nigeria.
Why i am doing this is because my i-20 is been delayed due to the payment and i can't send them the money through Western Union or even bank transfer and the VISA debit card issued to me by UBA can't make int'l transaction.

I PROMISE I WILL PAY YOU YOUR MONEY RIGHT HERE I MEAN IT.
PLS YOU CAN CALL 08027277744 OR adexguy77@yahoo.com

@house, thanks for all your contributions. Its been quite informative.
My texas-based school just replied me that my I-20 has been mailed off to me by regular post yesterday saying I should expect it in my P.O Box in 3-12weeks, For those who received their package(s) in the post office box, how long did it take from the time it was sent to when it was delivered to your post office box?

Also, I am waiting for other USA school's decisions, Would I have any problem if I'm offered admission and I accept it, prompting the processing of another I-20?

Can I start processing my visa appointment now with the already sent I-20 and what are the steps involved if yes?
Pls your contributions and advice are needed?
Thanks

Naggy, thank you very much for being there for us newbies. Deezy, although your question is directed specifically to naggy, I did some research and stumbled on this website that I think explains the process. Here is the link: http://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901/wu_fm_inter.htm and then there is a pdf version of the instructions here: http://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/wu_fm_inter.pdf

Guys, I have a problem. I am on full scholarship to attend my college. However, I keep hearing about bank statement and evidence of ties to home country. My parents have neither land, nor landed property nor fat bank accounts. Will that be a problem for me?

I was denied a visa in Abuja Embassy yesterday just because I didnt tell the VO the meaning of Standard Deviation.I never planned for that kind of question.
I will surely re apply again but its gonna be in Lagos because i cant stand the stress I passed thru in Abuja.
What is the Chance of getting it rite dis time in Lagos?
Will I have to pay for another SEVIS fee
How do I go about it,pls.

if you want to pay your sevis fee, you can go to kaduna instead of travelling to Benin, asked for hephziba, he will write you a check of $200.Take the check and post it using Fedex .That was what I used and it worked.I am in the usa now. you can check hepzibah website at http://www.hephzibahng.com/About%20us.htm or call Joy on 08068564289.

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by dizyfrenzy(m): 7:45pm On Apr 24, 2011
hey everyone, to everyone whos been contributing to this thread, God bless you. heres a thought i have been having, When you go for visa training and all, they ll tell you to smile at the VO and look straight into his eyes, the part about looking at him when hes talking to you is okay cos thats shows attentiveness and confidence but the part about keeping a smile on your face throughout the duration of the interview, i think thats a little off. one thing thats certain is that the VO's have a lot of experience. they know that people would do anything to get a visa. so i dont think keeping a smile (false and fake) on your face throughout the interview would sway the VO. i would suggest you greet with a smile, and if the VO answers your greeting, then that means things are looking good, after greeting, be attentive and put your game face on. the VO would not deny u a visa because youre not smiling at him, am sure of that. be courteous, confident(but watch it so that your confidence doesnt look like arrogance), and dont be afraid to be informal with the V.O
God will do the rest
Thanks
