I've read all the posts on this topic and i must confess, my emotions were varying, as i read through what u peeps have posted. At some point, some made sense ,at some points i simply had to laugh @ the comments.

Not withstanding, what miss U.I did was in plain language[b] WRONG[/b] and[i] stupid[/i] a la mode a spade would brook no other name but a s-pa-d-e.

Yet i believe the reason for all the whipped up emotions from both sides of the divide, is that the issue is all about religion- what we give worshipful devotion to.

All religions claim to preach love of fellow, but whether their adherents understand what the concept entails and have a clear view of how to go about fulfilling it is quite a different matter.

Entailed in love is tolerance- putting up with and accepting someone who holds a different view from yours, which in this case is religious.

Yet sadly enough some of the comments on this issue, by some of my dear nairalanders both Christians and Muslims alike, reflect plain bigotry and misguided zeal. Obviously the message of broadmindedness is lost on them.

I understand the Muslims being outraged, our miss was in effect calling their form of worship null and void by her pronunciations or shall i say denunciations in this case. Had the case being the reverse, similar feelings would also have been evoked within a christian camp.
No one has a right to denounce the worship of another. The right one has is to expound his faith to another in a way and manner that befits what is expected to be the fruit of[b] true [/b]religion.

In a country like ours with so many shallow religious outlets, its no surprise that some of the most heinous crimes on the surface of the Geo are committed in this same vista called Nigeria, where most do not understand what it means to worship God. Perhaps their brand of religion does not tell them that loving one's fellowman as one's self is part of God's requirements. It does not inform them about the golden rule- do to others what you want them to do to you. It does not teach them not to use obscene words or/ and abusive language on others. Whoa!

So much for religious zeal and fervor and this in a country where those who patronize religion are also patrons of every badness and vice there is to be imagined.

My dear nairapeeps, miss U.I has done her bit in showing us the f the fruits of misguided zeal and a dire misunderstanding of one of the core values her religion professes to teach. The reactions of some Muslims on this forum has shown, they equally do not know how to remain gracious in the face of provocation.
