Nope, i don't think religion has anything to do with love, is ones behaviour that has something to do with love. Once there is compatibility, then the love will stay for real smiley

Yes, relgion can influence the direction and intensity of love IF ONE OR BOTH PARTNER HAS STRONG RELIGIOUS CONVICTION. No matter how strong their LUST which is more often mistaken as LOVE, they would either break up or live without love. The later is possible if there are extraneous factors such as law, money, etc

NO, if they have no conviction in their faiths and if future convert is unrealistic.

Never underestimate the influence of religion on love. You would be shocked.

It sure as hell does. Especially here in Nigeria where the family plays a big role in one's choice of a spouse. Unless if the couples arent planning to take it that far, probably just catching the much fun they can while it lasts
And yeah, we do mistake lust for love most at times

Most people out there think differently. They believe in invincibility of love. But when that love shatter their fragile hearts they started hating opposite sexes and become another case study of broken love. I think a measure of common sense is absolutely desirable in love. To Love is a choice.

I truly did not realise how much religion and ethnicity influence love or the ability to fall in love until recently.
My heart crossed the line of religion, tribe, culture and continent!! But religion has been the major bone of contention for me and my intended.

The problem I face is that I love a man who is muslim and hausa and I am Igbo and christian.
His family want him to have a young hausa bride even though they don'e know what I'm like at all.
Its been a real eye-opener for me. I think it is more his religion than the tribe thing.
I am willing to learn hausa and our kids (in'sha allah or God willing) can follow him in islam or me with christ whichever.

I think am about to have the same problem also.I am a Muslim and my finacee is a christian. She always want me to follow her to church, she want me to change my religion all because of our relationship and her family.
She always informed me that her family won`t allow her to marry another religion except a christian. We are seriously in Love**Deep**
But her mom knows me and some of her family, Waiting for her DAD, What do you think, will they allow me to Marry Her?

Am just confused right now, I need some advise.

Love ya.

@Azunp,

Don't deceive yourself and don't deceive the girl. Man is the head of the family. When you marry her your parents would bring in Alfas to christen your baby. You will return back to your religion some time later in life. And that love would not help you then. If she want you change your Deen, Ausu billah! Kaafiri? God help you.

Sincerely, you should snap out of your dream and accept you have lost now if she keep making ref to religion. Start looking for muslim or secularists. They out numbered the christains. Wa salam
