23YRS ago, 1988 to be precise , the then SUG president of the university of Jos led a team of students who rioted against the the military dictator (IBB) removal of oil subsidy. Ke labelled it "a crime against the Nigerian masses and wqar against the poor". That SUG President is Mr. Labaran maku! The current Minister for information who has recently said that the removal of oil subsidy is long overdue! Isn't that interestibng and funny. Bcoshis pocket is now full with corruption, he has forgotten the massess still exist! please pass the massage to your friends until it get to Labaran Maku to defend himself.

i live in warri, i just drove around town, went to three banks on warri sapele road, visited samsung, stoped at a police check point the only one i saw, i drove from refinery road to airport road, passed through avenue road, buisness was going on as usual, my wife is presently at the market she celled me a few minutes ago, please how many warris do we have in nigeria? Apart from one check point on warri sapele road, i didnt see the scores of military and police personnel preventing people from protesting,

This commedy has now entered season 2 (fabrication of fanthom protesting crowds), just shows how low people will go to either continue enjoying what is definately not a right but a previlage or for marketers to continue exploiting the masses,

Well the major marketers are from the SW, people there should occupy their houses and landed properties, lets see if season 3 will be more interesting,

Some of you people are clowns

So you drove the WHOLE of warri from 8 am to now ?

Moreover what has the SW got to do what this ? ani't you a tribalist and a bigot ?

is warri SW now ?

I have told you Igbos to stay out of this, you people should listen to your leaders and stop acting like you are smarter than other Nigeria. It is better to pick a neutral stance than to be pro-government because GEJ is Igbo. Stop playing tribalistic sentimental games with people's emotions.

lastly explain this story to me or maybe you would tell me those protesters are SWerners

Stay out of the way. OK !!! don't play with people's emotion by adding bigotry to it. It is annoying and very EVIL for you to do

There were about 5 protest doing OBJ era funded by this same SWerners

Fuel subsidy protest spreads to Warri, Effurun

By Emma Amaize, Emma Arubi and Akpokona Omafuaire.

WARRI – THE protest against the removal of fuel subsidy expanded to Delta State, Friday, with members of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, and Committee for Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, grounding business and social activities in the twin cities of Warri and Effurun for more than four hours.

The protest is coming ahead the planned nationwide industrial action on Monday by Organized Labour.

The placard- carrying protesters were led by John Aikpokpo-Martins, Vice Chairman Warri NBA; Barrister Casely Omon-Irabor, Coordinator, Human Rights Defenders Organisation of Nigeria.

Sunny Enenuvwedia, President, CDHR; Pastor Edewor Egedegbe, President, Network for Positive Change; and Barr Benefit Orugbo, Chairman, CDHR Delta State.

They hit the streets of Warri and Effurun as early as 7.00 am in their hundreds. The take-off point was Effurun roundabout.

Some of the placards bore inscriptions; “We want fuel subsidy” “Don’t play politics with our lives in Nigeria” “Okonjo Iweala should resign” “No to IMF policies” “Jonathan has failed us” “If Jonathan cannot rule, resign.”

Okada riders, market women and office workers who closed businesses and offices cheered the protesters as they chanted solidarity songs. Members of the various civil societies also joined in the protest as they march on.

In a proactive strategy, the Area Commander, ACP Abutu Yaro , led several police officers in providing escort for the protesters so that hoodlums would not take advantage to hijack the protest.

Addressing Deltans at Jakpa junction, John Aikpkpo-Martins, Vice Chairman, NBA, Warri said, “We members of the NBA protest today to say no to removal of fuel subsidy, we are fighting against oppression, this is not military rule, Okonjo-Iweala cannot dictate for us, she should resign, fuel price should be returned to N65.”

Also adding his voice, Sunny Enenuvwedia, President, CDHR said, “The president action is hasty. It is anti people, government should cut their bogus life style spending and there will be money for development.

“Why is it only the poor that must suffer? Enough of this rubbish, we want the decision to be rescinded immediately.”

alahaji boko haram,
unlike u who change ur identity with each post, i have maintained my identity as an isoko from delta state, no shaking,
I refuse to sit aside and watch attempts to drag the rest of nigeria into this joke session being fostered by you and ur cohorts on NL and other social media,
GEJ made it clear that the road ahead was going to be tough and bumpy, even in the SW where the main marketers are from, buisness is going on as usual,
I have told you the difference between fighting like headless chicken for cheap fuel which is not your birth right, and staging a fight that pressurises govt to reduce cost of governance,

Just say good bye to blanket subsidies, this is stage one, the next should be govt run companies, govt run schools, universities etc,
U want govt to be involved in all these things and at the same time be small? Come on men, use your head here, not ur a5s.

Personally I would discourage any person from SE to participate in the so called demonstration. The subsidy is affecting everybody but then it's their one Nigeria (NN/SW ) you people should clean up the mess you put Nigerians in since the creation of this joke call Nigeria.

On the other hand, in most places casualties are being counted in single digit, by the time the people of SE starts demonstrating FG will unleash her killing machines on my people (in the name of accidental discharge) and you will start reading about double digit casualty among the protestants.  As the saying goes in my place "agbesi tuo otune omulu ako"

Oh yeah? And Jonathan is from where? And who voted him in "Massively"? Abi no be term way una been dey use be that?

Guy sharrapp and do wats right. The Politicians are too corrupt. What stops them from earning $100,000/yr instead of $2million+ (and thats not including other allowances and juicy contracts they all share amongst themselves).

Una go hear am soon sha when extreme poverty strikes. Don't stand up and be counted, dey there dey do tribalism.

Some of us (e.g Ogugua88/Ileke-Idi) have never lived/lived in Nigeria for a short period yet, we are fighting as if this rubbish will affect us. Yet, f*ools like yourself cannot see past unnecessary hatred through tribal lenses. God help you all sha.

that is why I called you a tribalist and you have let bigotry cloud your reasoning

FASHOLA IS IN TROUBLE RIGHT NOW IN LAGOS

people are singing against Him , ACN, Tinubu, PDP and co

No one would be left out of this protest. LASU increase in tution fee is not the case, the case is the toll gate and other over bugeted things he had done.

The people of the SW and Middle belt are devoid of tribal sentiment and don't give a Fuuc,k if it is fashola or atiku

they are all the same

hey, my point is not on fasholas political future but on the fact that there simply is no free meal any where, somebody somewhere pays the price, what is the price we pay for government running the down stream sector,
Big govt = big corruption,
small govt = small corruption
how do u achieve small govt, govt gets of of peoples way, allow free enterprise and market forces to prevail, govt concentrates on policy and regulation, external affairs, and a few others,

Govt is big when they run your down stream, upstream, schools, hospitals, railways, roads, why is this logic so damn difficult to understand, o i remember, the non tribalistic marketers from the SW must be instigating you to feel govt has to supply you ur pms cheaply or die in droves,

For the last time what i am saying is that, the penduleun has swung the way of labour and the opposition now, what are they to do with it now, fight for free fuel or hold govt by the balls on reducing cost of governance

if it is to fight for cheap fuel which is not my birth right, count us ss out, you are with you marketers over there in lagos, please fight your own fight, if that is being a tribalist, then thank you very much

Truth is a bitter pill to swallow, someone want to tell me where i am from again, abegi, good riddance to bad rubish,

Apperantly a lot of people need their skulls to be OCCUPIED by some redasoning ability before venturing into something based on today and tomorrow meals,

People come here to talk when they are not made the slightest effort to grasp what the real issues are,
Several times, i have told people on this forum, understand a situation before commenting in public, but because of the nature of online forums, they feel they are at liberty to poor dumbness onto the screen.
If tomorrow FG arrest tinubu, adenuga and otedola for trying to run the country a ground, the same set of people will say see how GEJ hates the south west, take your protest to their houses, ask them how tghey spent the funds from round tripping, we from the niger deltgare not ever allowed to participate in the oil business, except those of us willing to be 'lackys, occupy otedolas boat parked near the american embassy then we can know how serious you are, until then this remains a joke
