Esn was never created to protect Ndigbo,they were created to attack security formations and also to intimidate Igbos who do not support ipob.
If the Ebubeagu cannot work and if we can't find a better alternative,then we are not ready to have a regional security outfit.
If it's a region security outfit,then it should be debated, have the input of others and then given the go ahead for approval and operate as a legal outfit.

When Kanu was still free, their last (ESN) planned mission was to start confronting cultists. Kanu said that. It was to show them that him and ESN had nothing of support with those silly behaviours and that they were determined to root them out. As being equally cancerous as herdsmen.

But I think it was Imo State ESN that organised the large scale Imo jail break of 2021. It had their characteristics. Including that they didn't kill any security personnel, were reported to be about 200 in number, used dynamites etc... plus they never denied that one.

Yes I think there are non-Igbo in them. Two were once caught in 2021 and they said they were recruited by someone, and that they are from the North (one of those North Central states).

There is a difference between ESN and Unknown Gunmen.


1. ESN is the group that was formed Dec 12 2020 for Eastern Security.

They are the ones Nigeria Army has searched for but never gotten in several battles such as that at Nsukka (forest), Orlu, all between January and about June 2021. (Before army tactically realised their superiority).

They are civil except the Imo State Command under the Ikonso that was largely involved in a lot of rubbish. Unsurprisingly, that command also suffered the largest number of casualties till about late 2021, such as the surprise killing of Ikonso, capture of one Raphael, Onye Army etc (all Imo State).

All ESN in Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Rivers, etc have never been caught. Rather they have shot army whenever engaged till army left them. (Army once engaged them for more than 48 hours at their Nsukka forest base).




2. Unknown Gunmen on the other hand are a group of touts formed after ESN. Some of their first activities where in Ebonyi State such as the release of prisoners from a jail break. Since then their activities have become tuned to the killing of police men, arsonist attacks on abandoned stations.

They are the ones that go about killing people on Mondays, and those carrying out other sort of activities. They are the ones Soludo was talking about, and one of whose camp was recently bursted.

OP, what you don't understand is that there is a difference between ESN and Unknown Gunmen.

ESN are orderly. They were the ones army search for in battles for Orlu, Nsukka, (one LG in Akwa Ibom) without ever succeeding in catching one in open battle. Onye Army whom police got in Imo State for example was an ESN member. Only Imo State command was known for leaning to juju and other rubbish and they have been the most killed. The Ikonso guy for example.

Unknown Gunmen on the other hand are a group of touts somebody something put together who spend their killing police for their weapons. They are the ones who move about with red. They are just criminals esp now.
