Hate Wike or love him, he is one hell of a dogged political figure who is brazen enough to say his mind despite his many gaffes all of 2023. There is a saying in warfare, kill or be killed, whilst Wike and Fubara are slugging it out in the political arena, my subtle advise for Fubara is to focus on people oriented projects that are visible and can bring social developmentalism to the people. Wike earned the name ''Mr Project" for himself despite commissioning various roads and laudable projects which was commissioned by various emmisaries and politicians across the Niger. It's been 1year out of the 4years on Fubara's mandate and i ask where are the visible projects Fubara would be remembered for? It would be unfair on Rivers state folks who would sit and watch and let 2 opposing politicians waste their and bicker over nonsense whilst acknowledging that there is work to be done on ground.
Fubara needs to get the ground running!!!!

Politics / Re: NNPCL Monopoly Ends As Marketer’s Fuel Vessel Arrives by nigeriancritic1(m): 6:21am On Jul 20, 2023
Biodun556:
NNPCL monopoly ends as marketer’s fuel vessel arrives
20th July 2023

First batch of petrol, 27 million litres imported by an independent marketer has arrived in the country, putting an end to a downstream monopoly market once enjoyed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

The vessel, ST Nnene earlier billed to arrive since last week, but was held down off Lome waters due to adverse weather, birthed at Ijegun-Egba on Wednesday following the official end to subsidies by President Bola Tinubu on May 29.

Five financial institutions- Polaris, First Bank, Union Bank, Access Bank and Fidelity bank had bankrolled the deal.

This was as foreign exchange rose from N745 to one dollar three weeks ago, to N845 as of Tuesday, and crude price rising to $80 per barrel as of 1:45pm Nigerian time on Wednesday.

Until now, state oil firm NNPCL had enjoyed a monopoly downstream market for years. The firm had singlehanded imported petrol consumed in-country, and had dictated prices.

Since the end of subsidies which cost the country about N12tn, prices of petrol had risen from an average of between N180/N200 per litre, to N614 per litre as of Tuesday.

While speaking at the ceremony, Olujimi said petrol importation was no longer sustainable.

According to him, resuscitating local refining was the way to go.

He said, “Petrol importation is not a sustainable way for a country to run. From what we saw yesterday when PMS price rose to over N600 per litre, it is an indication that the dynamics of the business is a tough one. It requires huge US dollars to bring in this. The way forward is for local refineries to be revived,” he said.

Representing the Chief Executive Officer, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed, Sadiq Bashir, explained that the development was an important milestone since the downstream sector was deregulated.

He said, “This is what we have been looking forward to. When we talk about deregulation, people think it’s all about increasing prices. No. Although prices would now be determined by market dynamics, deregulation also opens up the market for other players to come in.

“Yes, we would experience teething problems at first; however, if market forces are allowed to come into play, prices would eventually go down due to high competition. We assure that NMDPRA would continue to ensure quality control of products being sold to the public.”

General Secretary, the Natural Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Afolabi Olawale, also canvassed for local refining.

He said, “If we want to go for deregulation, we should not go for importation. We should not submit our economy to be determined by foreign firms. But since we are there now, the government needs to speed up on palliatives because things are hard on everybody. We also enjoin marketers to shun excessive profiteering.”

The National Controller Operations, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mike Osatuyi, said issuing licences to independent marketers to import would give rise to competition and fairness in the downstream sector.

He advised marketers to satisfy their customers by selling at fair prices, and dispensing the correct quantity.

Politics / Re: Fuel Purchase Reduced By 50 Per Cent, Reduce Pump Price – IPMAN Begs Tinubu by nigeriancritic1(m): 6:17am On Jul 20, 2023
Bobloco:

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has said the purchase of fuel has reduced by 50 percent.

IPMAN’s Chairman in Enugu depot, Chinedu Anyaso, blamed the reduction on the hike of the pump price of fuel.

Lamenting that the negative situation has affected marketers, Anyaso urged the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal government to reduce the pump price of fuel.

NAN reports that he warned that most marketers might shut down, a situation that may lead to the collapse of the downstream sector.

According to Anyaso: “Marketers are facing an existential challenge due to low profits as a result of reduced sales affecting their abilities to meet their operational costs and obligations with banks.

“Marketers are worse affected by this policy of subsidy removal, profitability has reduced because average sales have reduced by about 50 per cent.

“We appeal to the Federal Government to save downstream operations from collapsing by working on reduction in pump prices.”

00FFT00:
Justice Ugo Resigns, Citing Demands to 'Kneecap' Democracy, Says 'Siding with Tinubu' Would Mean 'The Death of Nigeria's Democracy

In a shocking and unprecedented move, Nigerian Justice Boloukuoromo M. Ugo has resigned from the bench, citing demands from the executive branch that he believes would destroy the country's democracy.

In a statement, Justice Ugo said that siding with the government on this matter would be the 'death of Nigeria's democracy', and that he could not in good conscience remain silent. His resignation has sent shockwaves through the country and raised serious questions about the state of Nigeria's democratic institutions.

According to Justice Ugo's statement, he was asked to 'cripple the independence of the judiciary' by ruling in favor of a certain political candidate, whom he did not name but is widely believed to be Bola Tinubu.

Besides this, he was said to have been asked to suppress evidence and dismiss cases that could impact the election. Justice Ugo's resignation has caused a serious uproar and a setback to the activities of the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Politics / Re: 25 Reasons Why Tinubu Should Not Be Sworn-in As President-lp Chieftain by nigeriancritic1(m): 6:50pm On May 07, 2023
Thepointer:

The presidential inauguration which has been slated for May 29th with a lot of controversies by many Nigerian citizens with inscription “Tinubu cannot be my President”

The president of One Love Foundation, Chief Dr Patrick Osagie Eholor therefore has launched 25 inscriptions against the swearing-in of the president-elect coming up on May 26th 2023.

They read:

1. INEC broke the law, Tinubu didn’t meet the constitutional requirements to be declared winner.
2. Tinubu rigged the election, please restore our stolen mandate.
3. Do not swaer in Tinubu, Shettima had a double nominations.
4. Do not swear in Tinubu, he didn’t get his certificate.
5. Judiciary cannot afford to fail Nigerian citizens.
6. Do not swear in Tinubu, he didn’t get 25% in FCT.
7. We need Rule of law in Nigeria, judiciary give us our mandate.
8. Dear judiciary, be just in your judgements and it should be in adherence to our constitution
9. Bola Ahmed Tinubu committed perjury, alleged forged certificates and rigged the election with the help of INEC, correct this rascality now
10. The intention is palpable, but there’s still an iota of hope that we still have on the Judiciary despite their antecedents. We implore the judges not to end democracy.
11. Dear Judiciary, in the event that you are unable to conclude your judgements before May 29, please never swear in Tinubu.
12. Peter Gregory Obi won this 2023 presidential election and so he is the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
13. We are urging the Judiciary to conclude the elections petition before May 29th
14. Your Lordship, The CJN, if you swear in Tinubu, you have ended democracy Nigeria
15. Dear Judiciary, give the mandate to the rightful winner. Nigerians voted Peter Obi as the president and he won Election
16. CJN Your Lordship, do not partake in unconstitutionality
17. Tinubu is an allegedly Drug dealer who forfeited $450,000 to jump jail in the US
18. It is unconstitutional to swear in someone who has not met the constitutional requirements to be president
19. We put in the works during the campaign and Nigerians rewarded the work we put in!
Restore our mandate
20. Diaspora medic for good governance call on the Judiciary to save our democracy, A candidates that did not meet Nigeria’s constitutional requirements must not be sworn in as Nigeria’s President.
21. Remember Tinubu’s dual citizenship and perjury.
22. Just as the law gave INEC power to make declaration, it gives the judiciary power to reverse it. There’s no constitutional duty to inaugurate a Drug dealer as Nigeria president on May 29th if the declaration made by Yakubu has been legally challenged
23. The tribunal has the power to stop the inauguration before May 29th. There is absolutely no constitutional duty to inaugurate Tinubu if his declaration is legally challenged
24. We are asking president Buhari and the Honourable chief of Justice of the federal republic of Nigeria not to truncate our fledgling democracy by swearing in Bola Tinubu as he has not met the constitutional requirements to become the president of our dear country
25. Do not swear on Tinubu, INEC did not follow her own election guidelines.

Politics / Re: Why I Think Peter Obi And Oyedepo's Conversation Was Real by nigeriancritic1(m): 10:26pm On Apr 10, 2023
richmond500:
The audio leak about Oyedepo and Obi has raised a lot of concern, while most people feel the audio is doctored, others felt it is genuine.

Personally I feel the audio is real and these are my reasons.

1. Peter Obi : The presidential candidate of the labour party is a controversial person, he is someone that will speak out if you happens to destroy his white as snow personality, as he did against Dino Meleye, while some people had pity on him, others felt, he is playing victim. Infact ome person's has likened him to Jesus Christ in the Bible.
Obi has even on an occasion, brought a WhatsApp message from an unknown source just to pass the information that he is good and others are bad. The reason why he doesn't take this golden chance to prove his innocence makes me believe the audio is real.

2. Oyedepo If there are three MOG who will speak about politics, then Oyedepo is one of them, he is outspoken and doesn't bow to pressure, so why has he been mute all these while?

3. Kenneth Okonkwo This is a celebrity that knows Obi and is one of Obi spokesperson.
Like saying goes, if you want to know about a house, listen to the tenants... Ok nobody says that, I just made that up.
But Kenneth who is closer closer to Obi than most of those that denied it said it is real, which made me believe he was there when Obi made the call that very day.
4. Aisha Yesufu She is an activist, This is the one part that she should become a real activist but she kept mute, what is wrong with her voice now?

5. Labour party If there is a group that will never see anything good in APC and will always need an opportunity to discredit it, then it's either IPOB, LP or PDP.
So why can't LP defend their candidate and tell us how APC is a party of liars.

With all these evidence, it is obvious the tape wasn't dictored
