have you guys noticed that the top brazillian strikers havent been able to win the champions league. the ones i know are ronaldo , romario, adriano. elber won it with bayern but he is not a major brazillian player. rivaldo won it with milan but played in one match. whats wrong? any comments |
ha ha ha h ah CODEC i just posted a topic on it b4 i saw your post. sorry o! also theres no nedved. ARSENAL ARE WINNING THIS. |
del piero and pavel nedved are not in tomorrows line up. does this give arsenal a chance of winning. |
he's a good striker no doubt but will he be able to keep it up. its the consistency that matters not flash in the pan goals. I hope he leaves rennnes to maybe rsenal of lyon. there he skills will improve. |
pie1ect o boy your right i fear that brazillian team. forget about how not n form both ronaldo and adriano are. once they wear that yellow shirt it's adifferent story. ronaldo hadnt played for along time before 2002 world cup. but see how he devastated the world. so i go with ronaldo, i think he'll use the world cup to prove he is still the best. besides in brazil theres strong affection for him |
romario - the guy just refuses to train. he;s so stubborn. stan collymore- i honestly thot he had serious emotional problems eric cantona- who can forget his antics and how he got suspended rio ferdinand- expertly dodged a drug test and got an eight month ban instead of a life ban if he had been found guilty. faustino asprilla- goes night clubbing on the eve of major matches edmundo the animal- stuborn as hell brazillian player, forever fueding with romario. patrick kluivert- he is more of night clubber than a footballer paulo di canio- stuborn as hell, facist saluter. |
my list is STEVEN GERRAD- he was the driving force of a lacklustre liverpool team. The most inspirational captain , ultimately won the UCL RONALDINHO- The life force of Barcelona, without him barca are just another good team JOHN TERRY- The second most inspirational captain after gerrad and in my opinion ' the best defender in the world. john terry makes peter cech look good. i'm not saying cech is not good o!!! FRANK LAMPARD- The second best midfielder in the wrld after ronaldinho last season. scorer of timely goals and the heart of chelsea. THIERRY HENRY- simply the best striker in europe for a second season in a row. he scored 25 goals to level with diego forlan of villareal. but lets not forget he missed almost 8 games at the end of the season and also the FA cup. if he had played them he would have dusted forlan. |
wayne rooney world player of the year 2008 ![]() |
why is mourinho buying so many players. whats he doing with shaun wright phillips? the boy doesn't fit into the team and he's going to get less playing time now ballack has joined. he's destroying phillips career. |
ballack is an attacking midfielder, so i think the competition is between him, lampard and jole cole. i see joe cole benched and thats sad cuz he's one of my best players at chelsea. |
i would want liverpool to win but i think Chelsea has the edge on mentality. so although i support liverpool, realistically i think chelsea will win. |
if michael ballack should join chelsea next season. who sits on the bench. lampard , makalele or essien or joe cole or will mourinho bench robben on the wing. i think all this spontaenous buying of top quality players will destroy Chelsea's morale. |
mr night creeper ![]() you win bros |
yu didnt state that it was champions league you were talking about. you just said 16 games more, read your post again. champions league is not the best place to test two quality strikers who play in the same league. if they played in different leagues then it would make sense. thats because they get different teams from different leagues. and one team might progress more than the other, the champions league is unbalanced. dwight yorke was once the highest goal scorer in a season in the ucl, does that mean he was the best striker that season. they both play 38 matches against the same teams , where there is no elimination, undiluted football for 38 mayches against the same 20 teams. and for four consecutive seasons henry has topped vannistelrooy. whatever you win. i'm tired. |
reye4eva reading you reply again i realise its pure crap. where did henry play 16 games more,? abi you mean less Top Scorers Team Prem CC FA UEFA CL Other Total Thierry Henry Arsenal 19 1 0 0 4 0 24 Minutes on Pitch: 2715 Ruud Van Nistelrooy 19 1 0 0 1 1 22 Minutes on Pitch: 3078 thats for this season , since you cant understand the stats of other seasons. at least try and understand this seasons statistics. |
you obviously didnt read the stats above or maybe you just didnt understand it. |
slimnike don't take it personal, i'm just messing wit ya. i like mourinho too |
wikipedia says van nisterooy has scored 95 league goals for man-u in 142 appearances since 2001( league goals only) arsenal's website says henry has scored 79 league goals for arsenal in 105 appearances since 2002( league goals only) unfortunately arsenals site doesn't have henry's 2001 record . do the math. thats just 16 goals RVN leads thierry with. despite us not including henry's 2001 season. if we include henry's 2001 season nko! what will happen. according to 4the game.com henry scored 33 goals in all competitions for arsenal that season. although RVN topped him in premiership scores to win THE PREMIERSHIP golden boot. If we add that it shows thierry dusts RVN in equal games played. this season henry already has 24 goals in all competitions RVN has 22 goals in all competitions with more games played than henry. once again henry is on his way to dusting RVN, the way he has done for 3 consecutive seasons. please read very carefully before you reply |
these stats your showing does it include henry's career at monaco and juventus where he wasn't a striker. he was a winger in both clubs. if it does , then it is like comparing finidi georges goal scoring record to rashidi yekini. it can't work what you should be comparing is records from when henry became a striker. bring up from van nistelrooys first season in man -u till now , lets compare it to henry's record from the same period till now. and you'll see why henry has won the golden boot 3 times and been highest goalscorer in euorpe 2 consecutive times and RVN has only won golden boot once. |
mochafella:exactly why i'm spitting. i'm talking about goalscoring, how can yu say someone is a better goalscorer than someone who has scored more goals than your man every season except one and has been the highest goalscorer in europe two seasons in a row. please explain it to me in clear terms because it seems unbelievable. |
where have you ever read in fifa - NFA or newspaper reports that Nigeria ever played india. all these crappy stories people spread in primary school 99 - 1 my ass, wouldn't that be a world record for goals. |
what is all this crap about henry not scoring with his head. He finished as top scorer in the whole europe two seasons in a row. the strikers who score with thier heads why havent they finisghed as top scorers. who bloody cares if he doesnt score with is head. has van nistelrooy ever finished as top scorer in europe , henry has done it two seasons in a row. please stop deceiving yourselves henry is DA KING |
mocha fella you are talking story. henry has been top scorer for arsenal from his first season in the premiership. he has won three highest goal scorer awards. van nistelrooy has only won one award, and that was his first season. how can someone with only one highest goalscorer award be better than someone who has won three. Both of them play in the same league and the same number of matches and thierry henry has finsihed above van nistelrooy every season since ruud's debut season when he won it. What i see here is complete deception and denial of the glaring facts to suit emotions. van nistelrooy leads thierry in uefa only and he is just a few goals ahead. henry is better, if van nistelrooy was better he would be winning the golden boot. |
borinlay |
exactly bros. Akolawole i'm sure you became a chelsea fan after mourinho. when i was supporting chelsea i'm sure you were supporting Man-u becasue they were winning You never saw the days of brian Laudrup, zola the Maradona trainee at napoli, vialli, gullit, poyet, desailly, ed de goey etc. |
Every team will always support it's top striker. Gunners will say Henry, red devils will say ruud, newcastle will say alan shearer. So i can see why dis argument is unending. Henry is better than van nstelrooy in every aspect. Van nistelrooy- Highest goal scorer in the premier league once Henry - Highest goalscorer in the premier league Three times and on his way to a fourth golden boot having been behind van nistelrooy by almost nine goals. Henry carries a whole team of world class players on his shoulders. Thierry henry is Arsenal, even mourinho admits it. Van nistelrooy doesn't carry anybody , Man u is playing much better without him. Ferguson will give ten Van nistelrooys for henry. And you know that true. Thierry scored 30 goals in a 2003/2004 season a premiership record thierry made 20 assists in the 2003/2004 season a premiership record he makes as many goals as he scores. I repeat henry has won 3 golden boots and on his way to number 4 in row. Van nistelrooy has one just a miserable 1 please is it not in the same premier leagur they played. Nistelrooy only tops henry in uefa goals and henry is not very far behind. The way he caught up with him in a flash this season is the way he'll catch up in uefa goals. and you know it When Van nistelrooy retires he'll be remebered as a very good striker when Henry retires he'll be remebered as the legend of arsenal. A terrror to defenders, the lightning from france. The KING OF HIGHBURY> One of the greatest strikers the world has ever seen. Henry has won titles and awards at occasions Van nistelrooy will never be invited to. Van nistelrooy to thierry Henry is like a "lottery winner amongst the bourgeoisie". there is only one scorer to have graced the premiership thats better than the king and that man is ALAN SHEARER |
apart from champions league scoring record which henry is just a few goals behind Van nistelrooy please tell me what he has done better than thierry henry. Ruud is a great striker, but Henry is better |
Manchester United During his first season at Manchester United, van Nistelrooy played in 32 games and netted 23 goals and scored in a record eight consecutive FA Premier League games. He scored 10 Champions League goals and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year. During the following year, the 2002-2003 season, van Nistelrooy scored 25 Premier League goals and 14 goals in European competition while leading Manchester United to the Premier League title. He also broke the record for scoring goals in European competitions for Manchester United in this season. Van Nistelrooy started off the 2003-2004 season in spectacular fashion, scoring twice in his first two league games. He also managed to score his 100th and 101st goals for the club against Everton at Goodison Park on 7 February 2004, as United earned a 4-3 Premiership victory. Van Nistelrooy was selected to play for the Netherlands at Euro 2004. Prior to the team's opening match against Germany, van Nistelrooy stoked up his country's already intense rivalry with the Germans by saying that emotions would be intensified by lingering bitterness over World War II. His comments were severely criticised by the German media. During the match, he scored an acrobatic volley, one of the goals of the tournament, to silence his critics and take Holland to the next round. He shared the goal-scoring lead in the group phase with England teenage sensation Wayne Rooney, who he now plays alongside at Manchester United, and was one of only two players in the tournament to score goals in all three of their team's group matches (the other was Czech Milan Baros). Van Nistelrooy missed a large part of the 2004/2005 season through injury, but was still the top goalscorer in the Champions League with 10 goals. He is currently the third most prolific scorer in European Cup/UEFA Champions League together with Eusébio, with 47 goals, only behind Alfredo di Stefano and all-time leader Raúl.At the start of the 2005/2006 season, van Nistelrooy returned to form, scoring in United's first four Premiership games. He has also maintained his place in the Netherland's starting lineup despite pressure from Bayern Munich striker Roy Makaay. As of March 12, 2006, he had already netted 19 goals in the FA Premier League, making him the highest goalscorer, together with Arsenal player Thierry Henry also with 19 goals. Though the dutch man had a 9 game lead. He has now struck up a great striking relationship with Wayne Rooney, both in great form in the 05/06 season. The pair struck up the deadliest Premiership partnership by netting more than any other two players combined. Although as of late December, the manager Alex Ferguson has been testing a new attacking partnership of Louis Saha alongside Van Nistelrooy's with Wayne Rooney in a withdrawn role, mainly due to the lack of players in midfield. As of the 26th of February 2006, Ruud van nistelrooy was dropped from Manchester United's league cup final, and replaced by Louis Saha who scored the second goal in a 4-0 win over Wigan. This caused lots of controversy but the player declined claims that he has had a rift with manager sir Alex Ferguson. PFA Players' Player of the Year2002 Succeeded by: Thierry Henry |
Thierry Daniel Henry (born August 17, 1977 in Les Ulis, Paris) is a French football player. He currently plays as a striker for the French national football team, and for English club Arsenal, where he is the club's all time leading goalscorer in both league matches and all competitions. He is often considered unlucky due to his inability to win the most coveted award for any player (FIFA World Player of the Year), even with his outstanding qualities such as explosive acceleration, blistering speed, sublime first touch, and lethal finishing, he has been twice nominated yet never won and ended up runners-up on both occasions. Henry is considered one of the most dynamic attacking players in the game today. He has surpassed Ian Wright to take over as Arsenal's all-time leading scorer with over 200 goals for the club. Although he plays as a striker, his versatility at all aspects of the game makes him more influential than many traditional strikers, and he often drops deep to receive the ball from midfield. He also is unselfish in front of goal, unlike traditional strikers. Amongst other things, Henry is well known for his creativity, speed and scoring touch which has consistently put him at the top of the FA Premier League's scorers and he claimed the Golden Boot (most goals scored) in 2002, 2004, and 2005. At Arsenal, Wenger converted Henry into a striker, where he has flourished ever since. In the seven seasons he has been at Arsenal, Henry has been the club's top goalscorer for every single one. He was made Arsenal captain in the summer of 2005, succeeding the recently departed Patrick Vieira. Regarded by many as the best striker in Arsenal's history, on October 18, 2005 Henry became the club's top goalscorer of all time; two goals against Sparta Prague meant he broke Ian Wright's record of 185 first-class goals. On February 1, 2006, he scored a goal against West Ham, bringing his league goal tally up to 151 and thus breaking Cliff Bastin's Arsenal league goals record. The 2005-2006 season also saw him score his 100th goal at Highbury, a feat unparallelled in the history of the club, and a unique achievement in the Premier League. He also contributes a large number of assists - most notably 20 in the 2002/3 season - an all-time Premiership record.Henry has received many plaudits and awards. He was runner-up for the 2003 and 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year award while helping Arsenal to an unbeaten record (26 wins, 12 draws) in the Premiership. He has also won both the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year, the PFA Players' Player of the Year twice, and the French Player Of The Year on four occasions - an all-time record. In 2004/5, despite Arsenal being the runners-up in the Premiership, Henry emerged with the European Golden Boot - the award for the top goalscorer in Europe - for the second consecutive year (albeit sharing with Villarreal's Diego Forlan in 2005). His most spectacular goal in his career was the one against Manchester United on September 30, 2000. With his back to the goal, and under pressure from a defender, he flicked the ball up, swerved his body around, and unleashed a majestic dipping volley over the head of French team-mate Fabien Barthez. Quotes about Henry "He's a wizard with his feet and is blessed with a gift for scoring goals. His best quality is his speed while the ball is at his feet. He may be the fastest man ever to lace up a football boot. No defender in the world can keep up with him." - Lilian Thuram " I tell my kids in the Academy at Newcastle to watch Henry. He plays with such a swagger, not an arrogance, and that is a great quality. He always looks so comfortable. You talk about cars going from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds, and he is like that. He just explodes. I could sit there for hours and watch him." - Peter Beardsley " If you look at the whole package, with everything Henry has, I don't think you can find that anywhere else. You give him the ball in the right place and his acceleration will take him past any defender in the world." - Dennis Bergkamp " The last player you want the ball to go to is the best player on the planet. " - Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard after his backpass to Henry gave Arsenal a 2-1 victory at Highbury.
