If you are expecting goals and assists from midfielders to justify anything, I see no reason we can't expect the same from goalkeepers, especially when my record tells me that some goalkeepers managed to rake in more career goals than some outfield players.

I know Edwin van dar Sar got the odd assist here and there for MUFC, he cost about £7m.
I know Jose Luis Chilavert got the odd goals here and there, he cost less than £5m.
