Very solid in attack and defence. |

Bale or Fried Reus for me mehn....
No need spending 50 million on winger with career best of 7 assists.
No beef but he can't shoot from range and his finishing up front is not the best. Honestly speaking, Sterling's game is not too different from Wright Phillips's
Is he a good player? Oh yes!

Fact remains that Di Maria was more productive that Young this season despite playing fewer minutes.
And despite Ashley Young 'keeping' Angel out of the team as has been said, he was unable to match let alone surpass Angel's total haul.
All of this in a season where Di Maria has suffered a house burglary, and multiple injuries.

SailorXY: there's no cause for comparisons here. Young & di Maria are Man United players, we should support them both. the fact Young has earned his place is not in doubt but it also doesn't make him a better player than those on the bench. let's not turn it into favorite vs favorite ala Rooney vs van Persie.
there was a time Mata & Herrera were warming the bench too, but they now have about 17 goals between them this season. if it was based on talents alone, Fellaini won't be starting games ahead of Mata, di Maria & all capable of playing AM in the current squad.
let's just say it's the manager's card as he's still moulding his team & maligned players still settling into the new system. after all LvG said his wide men were not up to scratch before he went for di Maria; & Young was in the squad already! Are you from Japan? Cos you made sense like a sensei!!!! Badum Tisssh! I'm here all week folks...I take bookings too... |

coogar: only fools & united fans with an agenda underrate young. it's saddening that fans are just starting to appreciate what he brings to the team - something i have pointed out many moons ago. the only reason his form dipped is because he was mostly injured in 12/13 & 13/14 seasons.
the above was my assessment of young back in october when elampawa was hyping di maria beyond his ability. give any player a run of 15 games consecutively and he would show improvement. Where you run go since? |

My calculations of the wind velocity, top spin applied to the ball, and the trajectory of the ball indicate that Fab fully intended to deliver an Igbati by ball.

What do you guys think about this assertion? Anything new to say? You know what to do - mail us at theeditor@football365.com
Is Loyalty Holding You Back? Reading the article about Ashley Young made me think about the issues with fans' favourites.
There's no doubt it you ask any United fans who has been United's best player this season, a large number of them will say Ashley Young. There's no doubt he's done well this season but are fans views warped because they appreciate him as a fan's favourite. Young has put in 100% each game for Man United this season and has done what he's told. He doesn't cause a fuss so naturally has become a popular figure amongst United supporters. This popularity has led United some United fans to suggest Young should be a regular part of their team next season. However, if United want to challenge at the top again, as harsh as it may seem, Young isn't good enough.
It's an issue us Arsenal fans have had to deal with for a good few years. We get attached to good, hard-working players but who aren't going to help a title challenge or a run in the Champions League. This ties into the current issue with Giroud and whether Arsenal can challenge with him up front. Giroud is an extremely popular figure amongst Arsenal fans probably due to watching his improvement over the years since he joined us, he always gives 100% and has scored some good goals for us. However, when push comes to shove, we probably cannot challenge with him as our main striker. I'm not saying Young and Giroud should be completely scrapped but other options should definitely be considered.
Jose Mourinho sold Chelsea's POTY for the previous two seasons and a year later he's sitting with a ten-point lead at the top and a PL winner's medal. He may be harsh but he's ruthless and it has got Chelsea results. |

nateevs: Me guess more Matic than Mikel. I agree with Ibime, he really came out after the red card. He got on the ball more frequently, started attacks and made more creative passes than the first half.
He had 93% pass completion rate. Yes a lot of the passes were sideways but I like a 19-year old who is cautious. You can tell his has got it. He just needs to work hard.
In a club like Chelsea with a history of not playing young players, I do not expect RLC to come in and go guns blazing. He is more likely to be cautious than inventive. It's like playing "set" with older boys when you were young, you try not to be the guy who lost "the set" with fancy tricks. So you did everything cautiously until you firmly claim a place.
That said, you are not entirely wrong yourself. RLC needs to improve on his willingness to defend, press and chase down the opposition. Mikel almost always has high pass percentage...mainly for playing 'e no spoil for my hand' passes. Mikel also lacks that 'willingness to defend, press and chase down the opposition' as you put it. To be perfectly honest, I did not see a difference between his game and Mikel's last night. I remember the 'passenger' jibes often thrown Mikel's way with regards to escorting the goal scorer....but watch the highlights of the first goal, and you will see that Berahino actually ran past RLC on his way to netting. Chris Brunt and James Morrison kept running past him on the way to goal too. I didn't want to say too much then, cos I'm trying to avoid a situation where I appear to be deliberately opposing a fellow poster here, as opposed to just making an observation. His improvement after the card should be put in context too. It's not really difficult to improve on his initial showing, because IMO, he had offered nothing in the opening stages anyway. Ultimately I agree about him being careful and cautious, but because I don't bother to watch reserve games, I don't what else he has in his locker and thus what else to look forward to...but if his game is about cautious and careful, then I'm not sure why we are hyping a Mikel 2.0 Let's see how he develops sha. This summer should give the opportunity to train fulltime as a first team squaddie and hopfully boost his confidence |

It took for us to go down to 10 men for him to come out of his shell. Agree that he improved slightly after his red card, but i dont agree he is playing 'game' I think he tried 2 long balls...both missed their target...he's not tackling, he's not intercepting...what is he doing? James Morrison ran past him like he wasn't there, and it's not like Morrison is fast....I've noticed that the boys are not even really passing to him. |
