Politics‘I Think We Have A Mandela In Buhari’ by ninjasta(op): 7:55am On Feb 08, 2015
As the Nigerian general elections draw nearer, Major General Sam Momah, a two term minister and first Commandant of the Nigerian War College, examines the preparedness of INEC, the quality of the on-going political campaigns, the effect of Boko Haram and how these should influence the voting pattern. He spoke to Paul Ukpabio in Abuja

AS a senior citizen of this country, what is your opinion about the preparedness of INEC with regards to this coming general election?

First and foremost, I doff my hat for Professor Attahiri Jega, for his courage in registering APC as a political party. It is the most defining political development in our political history since the amalgamation. That has brought Nigerian politics to the fore, and given the country, that international recognition. That is because when it was just one big party and a splinter of so many smaller parties, PDP used to have its way and the PDP didn’t bother to develop itself. But now that it is two big political parties, I believe that Nigerian politics has now come of age. And as from now, we will expect something better. I believe that INEC is ready to have a free and fair election. But whether the players will play to the rule is disturbing some of us.

But INEC in a way contributed to the problems?

Definitely, INEC has its problems. They even tell us that INEC materials arrived in bits and pieces from abroad. INEC is still talking about having enough generators to run the centres. And of course, Jega told us some months ago that he has no problem with funding, but right now, we know that INEC has funding problems because recently, they could not pay the staff who are to run the registration centres. That is why some days back, when the electorates went there; they were not seeing the officials because they were not being paid. This is quite unfortunate because we had four years to prepare for this election, so why should we now be importing these cards in piece meal? I don’t understand. But we still believe that INEC is ready and the election should take place. INEC has told us that they have registered 52 million Nigerians. We expected that they will register 100million people out of the 170 million Nigerians. Any attempt to rig the election, will have dire consequences. The first and second republic ran into problems because of the rigging of election. Once election is rigged, the country goes into turmoil and any rigging of this particular election, is going to be worse because of the circumstances of the situation. It is my hope that nobody tries to rig this election.

Are you optimistic that Nigerians are ready to vote?

I believe that Nigerians are ready to vote. They have been sensitized enough. To my mind, this election is the most crucial event Nigerians has ever faced since the amalgamation of 1914 because this election is important for many reasons. We have had the first 100 years as a nation; we know how Nigerians fared, very poorly. Now 2015, we are entering into the second 100 years of our existence as a nation. So this election is crucial, it will determine what happens to Nigeria in the next 100 years. There is need for Nigerians to take it seriously and vote the right person. I believe that there is need for change. Boko Haram is a menace; we never had it so bad, for a country to have some other persons hoisting their flag in the territories of this country, is un-heard of. Therefore, we need somebody who will deal with Boko Haram instantly and expeditiously. Secondly, the price of fuel coming down at this time, is a divine arrangement or blessing to give Nigerians the idea that if a government that has been there for 16 years has not improved their situation, now that the oil money is no more there, it calls for concern and a re-think because definitely, someone who couldn’t manage you during the boom era, will definitely not be able to manage you during the burst era! So, it is important for us to see the hand writing on the wall, and vote for change. Of course, we have tried a political party for 16 years without major change, so, we must give another political party a chance so that there will be competition between the parties. If we don’t effect this change, some analysts foresee Boko Haram over-running Nigeria in two years’ time, apart from other internal crisis. And it will happen. We can’t gamble with that kind of thing. That will fulfill the prediction of the United State of America about the country breaking up. So, this change must take place to avoid Nigeria disintegrating. It is ridiculous for a sitting president to tell us to re-elect him, so that he can defeat Boko Haram. Then why is he the president, because as president, he already has all the powers to defeat Boko Haram, he doesn’t need to wait for re-election to do so. If he has in the last few months collected back more than half of the territories that Boko Haram has got, he wouldn’t need to campaign. We would have voted for him! But he didn’t and now that election is here, his people are junketing about the place raising petty issues and leaving the real issues that should be discussed aside. It is unfortunate. We need a change.

As one time Principal Staff Officer to General Buhari, what have you got to say about the controversial missing certificate of the General?

Honestly, the certificate issue is very embarrassing to some of us because, here we are talking about the survival of Nigeria. We know that Nigeria is at the brink of collapse, and here we are, with one of our best Generals, who trained in the best institutions in Europe and America, even in the US War College, which by all standards is a Post-Graduate institution, and you are talking about school certificate. I find it ridiculous and unbelievable; how our political class and political parties could be so petty and mundane at this particular crucial time. It is unnecessary to go that low because we must win at all cost.

They should realise that they are denigrating the image of Nigeria and not just General Buhari. That is one of your best generals and you are denigrating him; what should outsiders think of us! We must be careful of what we do, and not take it that far. The point of change that the nation has now reached is natural. It is the point that we must reach, to effect a change. And if they don’t want that change and they continue with blackmailing and denigration, then that will be unfortunate. The campaign should be issue-based, not on petty personal things. So, the certificate issue should not be entertained by Nigerians. We should concentrate on choosing the best candidate come February 14, 2015...........

Politics“nigeria’s Stolen Crude Exceeds Ghana’s Daily Production” by ninjasta(op): 7:48pm On Feb 07, 2015
The amount of crude oil being stolen from Nigeria daily exceeds what Ghana produces in a day, the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) claims.

Ghana produces about 120, 000 barrels of oil per day and according to Professor Yemi Osinbajo, it is about four times what is stolen in West Africa’s populous country every day.

“Missing excess crude amounts to 1 billion US dollars, that is, 400,000 barrels of oil stolen every day. This is more than what Ghana still struggles to produce as a nation. Since becoming an oil producing country, Ghana produces 120,000 barrels per day,” Osinbajo told a gathering at the 73rd birthday of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Osinbajo, a senior pastor of the RCCG, spoke on the topic: "Harmonising Virtues to Gain Heaven and Earthly Prosperity."

He said part of the many challenges confronting Nigeria is the problem of oil theft.

According to him, “In our society, we have certain challenges, including corruption, described by Hillary Clinton as unbelievable; missing funds; NNPC petroleum subsidy scam; kerosene subsidy scam and so on.”

He added: “Challenges such as poverty is what we face today in Nigeria. Today, over 112 million Nigerians are categorised as extremely poor despite being the largest economy in Africa. In fact, we are one of the 33 poorest countries in the world.

“Also, on infant mortality, about 3.9 million children have died between 2009 and 2014. Similarly, 55,000 women die every year, which accounts for our maternal mortality. On the other hand, Nigeria records 110,000 deaths as a result of diarrhea diseases, while 10.4 million children are out of school. Again, 80 percent of our graduates are jobless.”

PoliticsHow We Determined Authenticity Of Leaked Tape On Ekiti Election – U.S. Firm by ninjasta(op): 10:00am On Feb 07, 2015
The New York-based security firm that helped analyse the voices of the characters in the shocking leaked recording on the rigged Ekiti election has given insight into how it determined the authenticity of the audio clip.

In a report, Guardian Consulting said it conducted a forensic examination on the discussion and compared the voices to public record samples of the known individuals.

In an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Tom Fitzgerald, the President of the company, confirmed that his company did the investigation.

“I can confirm that we did the testing,” Mr. Fitzgerald said.

He declined further comments, referring PREMIUM TIMES to a London-based firm, ATP Advisers, who he said gave his company the job. ATP Advisers could not be reached for comments.

According to his Linkedin profile, Mr. Fitzgerald was a former detective with the New York Police Detective [NYPD] and the Foreign Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He has over 30 years experience as a detective of repute.

PoliticsPresidency Faults The Economist’s Endorsement Of Buhari by ninjasta(op): 6:53am On Feb 07, 2015
The Presidency on Friday faulted the influential United Kingdom-based magazine, The Economist, for saying that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is more competent than President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the Presidency said it noted the magazine’s “tongue-in-cheek” endorsement of Buhari ahead of the presidential elections with surprise.

Abati described the magazine’s view of the President as “baseless, jaundiced and rather malicious.”

He said contrary to the magazine’s claims, Jonathan retains the trust and confidence of majority of Nigerians as the outcome of the presidential elections would show.

He said, “We are sure that many Nigerians and other readers of the usually urbane, thoughtful and well-reasoned editorial opinions of The Economist will be shocked that the magazine has taken the very ill-considered decision to throw its weight behind a candidate who, as a former military dictator, curtailed freedom of speech, ordered the kidnapping of opponents and jailing of journalists, and is accused of incitement to violence and grave human rights violations in Nigeria’s current democratic dispensation.

“The Economist may feign ignorance of President Jonathan’s remarkable achievements as leader of his country in the past six years, but Nigerians who, unlike the magazine’s opinion writers, will actually vote in the country’s forthcoming presidential elections, know that President Jonathan has worked very hard to fulfill all the major promises he made to them on assumption of office.

“Nigerians know that President Jonathan has developed our economy and created more jobs, they know that he has given policy support to the real sector of the economy, so that small and medium enterprises can thrive, they know that he has encouraged locally owned enterprises to take advantage of our resources in growing the domestic economy and they also know that he has successfully attracted greater foreign direct investment to the country.”

Christianity EtcFriday Sermon: Commit To Prayer To Find Inner Peace by ninjasta(op): 8:58am On Feb 06, 2015
Worshippers who commit to praying have been promised inner peace in their lives, and paradise in the hereafter.

Friday’s sermon focuses on the great status of prayer and points to its references in the Quran, throughout the history of the prophets, highlighting its importance.

The Quran quotes prophet Ibrahim saying: “My Lord! Make me to establish proper worship, and some of my posterity (also); our Lord! and accept my prayer.”

In another verse Allah says: “And We inspired Moses and his brother, (saying): Appoint houses for your people in Egypt and make your houses oratories, and establish worship. And give good news to the believers.”

Praying is one of the pillars of Islam and it offers security and refuge for the distressed and troubled.

“It is submission and reverence [...] and humility to Allah,” says the sermon.

Prophet Mohammed said when one prays he or she is conversing with the lord.

“Prayer is the reason for every good in life and the hereafter,” continues the sermon.

“It is they key for acceptance of acts (of worship), and a reason for excelling in good deeds.”

True prayer prevents a person from committing great sins, “Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do”, the Quran says.
PoliticsJonathan’ll Recapture Insurgent Controlled Towns If... by ninjasta(op): 11:44am On Feb 04, 2015
\Minister of Youth Development and former Governor of Adamawa State, Mr Boni Haruna, has assured the people of the state that President Goodluck Jonathan, will ensure that the remaining towns under the siege of insurgents are recaptured if re-elected.

He said recapturing the towns will enable him commence the re-construction of all destroyed properties and businesses by the insurgents.

The minister, in a statement, on Tuesday, commended the Presidential Victims Support Fund (PVSF), even as he called on the committee to promptly commence identification and assessing of all properties and businesses destroyed in recovered areas with a view to assisting victims to return.

Boni also implored the PVSF committee to put in place the mechanism to ensure that victims are not short-changed in the disbursement of any assistance meant for them by the fund as witnessed during the 2012 flood disaster in the state where flood victims were allegedly sidelined.

Boni, who condemned claims that insurgency is being promoted by the Federal Government, noted that this insinuation had been proved wrong by the Nigerian military.

He lauded efforts of the Nigerian military on liberation of Michika town, which was taken over by the insurgents on September 8, 2014.

PoliticsGumi Opposes Alleged Plans To Shift Elections by ninjasta(op): 8:27pm On Feb 03, 2015
Fiery Kaduna Islamic scholar, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, on Tuesday kicked against the alleged plans to postpone the general elections in the country.

Gumi said the Independent National Electoral Commission should go ahead and conduct the elections as scheduled.

Saying that 100 years of extension did not mean the poll would be without flaws, the cleric also dismissed reports that he was supporting a particular presidential candidate.

He said such report was unfair to his personality.

He said this while unveiling an election monitoring Non-Governmental Organisation, christened ‘My ‎Choice, My Pride Foundation’, aimed at collating election results from various geographical locations in Nigeria under his watch.

Gumi queried the rational behind any postponement of the February elections, noting that even if the poll was postponed for the next 100 years, there would still be flaws.

He said, “To be honest with you, Nigeria is not yet perfect. Even if you give 100 years, it can never be enough. So no matter what, elections must still be held. We can never be perfect. We are passing through a very difficult stage now.

“What I suggest when I said election should hold irrespective of its flaws, it is because first, we have to establish that you don’t get power except through the box.

“We do not suggest other means for power except through the ballot to establish democratic type of governance. If we postpone this elections, then on what ground are we going to continue; emergency rule?

“So no matter how it is, 2011 is not like 2015. So, I think election should hold.”

He explained that any aggrieved candidate could seek redress in the court of law after elections.

PoliticsNigerians In Malaysia Endorse Buhari by ninjasta(op): 4:58pm On Feb 03, 2015
Nigerians living in Malaysia have endorsed the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, as their candidate for the 2015 presidential election.

The coalition of groups on January 28 converged on Putrajaya International Art Centre in Malaysia, where they arrived at the decision to endorse General Muhammadu Buhari.

According to a statement issued by Babangida Ibrahim Babura, in Kano yesterday, the coalition has metamorphosed into Buhari Vendors, with the sole aim to work for the success of their preferred candidate at the 2015 polls.

The Kano born Malaysian resident said: “We xray all the 10 presidential candidates and we found General Muhammadu Buhari the APC presidential candidate to be the most competent who is ready to rescue Nigeria from its current situation of insecurity, corruption and dwindling economy.

He further said “Our community has unanimously endorsed GMB and call on all Nigerians to rally round behind him and elect him as the Nigeria’s next president.

The acceptability of GMB has cut across the nation’s diversities in terms of ethnicity and religious affiliation”.

“As we are all aware Nigeria is suffering from insecurity, economic instability, religious and ethnic crises, abject poverty, corruption and mismanagement, these are as a result of the incompetence of the present administration.

“Nigeria and Nigerians under President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan suffered and are still suffering from the oppression the Boko Haram militants, for almost 5 years as between 100 – 200 innocent lives are lost daily due to government’s lack of concern to fight the militants.

“This administration has been identified as the most corrupt since independence, there were clear cases of corruption like the Faruk Lawal’s Fuel Subsidy saga, the missing $20billion, the Patricia Oteh’s, to mention few were all left unpunished” the group said.

It alleged that, the Goodluck/ Sambo administration embarked on shameful pardoning of corrupt government officials.

PoliticsPower: 50% Of Nigerians Have Access To Meters – Nebo by ninjasta(op): 11:17am On Feb 03, 2015
By Chris Ochayi
ABUJA: The Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo has expressed sadness over the plight Nigerians huge gap in distribution of meters to electricity consumers, saying that only about 50% of Nigerians have access to the products.
Prof Chinedu Nebo

Prof Chinedu Nebo

Prof. Nebo who made the remarks while speaking on Good Morning Nigeria, a magazine programme of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, noted that it is this distress in the sector that informed the plan by Government to inject one million meters.

He added that the one million meters would be procured from local manufacturers in order to encourage them.

Nebo also observed that since the advent of private sector led generation and distribution sub-sectors, a little over a year ago, there has been huge injection of funds, by the investors, towards revamping the inherited assets.

This he said, has led to substantial increase in capacities of Egbin and Ughelli thermal plants as well as Kainji Hydro station, which had been in comatose for many years before now. For instance he said, an extra 220MW has been reportedly recovered from Egbin only last week, as a result of the successful repair of its 6th turbine, blown up about 9 years ago.

He said that the development assisted Government to switch attention to other things, as such, the many years of neglect of the power sector is steadily being redressed.

Professor Nebo said a lot has happened since this exercise with all actors trying hard to adjust, adding that privatization of the power sector has contributed immensely to service delivery to the end users.

On line of communication for customers with complaints, the Minister said that customers have direct contact with their various Distribution Companies through the designated Business Centres, he advised customers to lodge their complaints through this channel and if unsatisfied to contact NERC Offices even at the zones.

Prof. Nebo also explained that the recently announced intervention fund is a soft loan arising from Synergy with stakeholders including the CBN, Ministries of Petroleum Resources, Power and Finance, aimed at infusing liquidity into the Electricity market, so that customers are not over taxed. The fund will also help to offset debts owed to gas suppliers.

Speaking on the new gas tariff, the Minister insisted that this was the first time a cost reflective tariff that will assist all actors recoup their investment has been put in place, hence gas suppliers are encouraged, while end users of gas will be assured of supply.

On acts of vandalism of Gas infrastructure, the Minister said henceforth Government will redouble its efforts through synergy with other security agencies like the Navy, National Security Adviser’s Office, Civil Defence Corps, Police and the Army, in addition it would use digital ststem to curb the menace.

Prof. Nebo said before the advent of President Goodluck Jonathan Administration, there was no policy on renewable energy and energy efficiency, but now, a workable policy is at its final stage, as Government intends to energize large populations of people living in the rural areas.

Through solar-powered energy sources, rural communities that are so far flung that it would take 2 decades to get them connected to the national grid, would get electricity, because with privatization they would be classified as non-viable by investors.

PoliticsPDP Is A Sinking Ship – Fani-kayode by ninjasta(op): 10:55am On Feb 03, 2015
A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, was a passenger of a “sinking ship.”

Fani-Kayode, who stated this on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’, was reacting to the recent comments credited to Metuh about the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the APC, said he did not expect the PDP spokesman to say anything different from what he had said as “he represents a sinking ship”.

He described the PDP as a sad testimony of everything that is wrong with the country.

According to him, the PDP that existed during the administration of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo was the good old PDP, adding that Nigeria was debt free for the first time in many years at the end of the Obasanjo’s administration “but the country had since the Goodluck Jonathan era gone back to debts”........

PoliticsYoruba Leadership Forum Adopts Buhari by ninjasta(op): 10:44am On Feb 03, 2015
Yoruba Leadership Forum has urged all Nigerians, regardless of tribes or religious beliefs, to vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, as the group has adopted him as their preferred candidate.

In a statement signed by the forum’s Secretary General, Akin Malaolu, Buhari was adopted because he has met their leadership capacity for its adoption.

It reads: “We thank all our members nationwide and also delegates of the All Progressive Congress, who converged in Lagos to choose amongst themselves a presidential candidate.

“We have followed through the course of events leading to the nomination of Mohammadu Buhari and we are happy that the processes were both transparent and democratic. We accept the choice of this honest and strong-willed statesman.

“Precisely in 2011 and at the presidential election, our leadership forum adopted General Mohammdu Buhari and in companionship with our people as our choice and we voted impressively for him, but the results of the 2011 presidential election were skewed to favour the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in several ways.

“Without doubts and speculations, Jonathan did not make those percentages awarded to him in Sokoto, Yobe, Enugu, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Ekiti, Oyo, Adamawa, Borno, Katsina, Plateau, Taraba, Gombe and Nassarawa states.

“We were fully conscious that the victory was stolen by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and this led to violence.

“Today and in companionship with our entire Yoruba people, including all leaders, we wish to state clearly and categorically that General Mohammadu Buhari has again met our leadership capacity for his adoption as the candidate to vote for in the 2015 presidential election.

“We, therefore, urged all Nigerians, regardless of tribes or religious beliefs, to honour Buhari with their votes so that the ring of thieves, who have turned our commonwealth into private properties, can be defeated to save our country, Nigeria, and move her away from our present gloomy foreboding with comforting speed.”

PoliticsMu’azu Admits APC Poached Pdp’s Best Brains. by ninjasta(op): 10:54am On Feb 02, 2015
National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on Monday admitted that his party has been badly affected by the “poaching of its best brains” and mass defection of its members to other political parties. He however boasted that his party was still standing strong.

The National Chairman who confessed that PDP was gravely affected by the defections disclosed this through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tony Amadi.

While maintaining that the ruling party would certainly achieve victory in the forthcoming elections since it had worked hard for it, he lampooned the All Progressives Congress as having nothing to offer order than mouthing change and making impossible promises.

“As our robust and issue-based campaign goes into its final week, the Peoples Democratic Party is very much on course for a deserved victory at the forthcoming polls. We have put our best foot forward and in reviewing the campaign tour so far, I have no reason to doubt that victory will be the reward of our hard work,” Mu’azu said.

The statement reads further, “When the campaign started, it was clear that the opposition had gone far in distorting the achievements of our great party. When they shout ‘change’, they don’t tell Nigerians what they want to change. Do they want to change the sound educational policy of the PDP which has been hailed all around the country as the route to transformation of the country’s democratic institutions?

“In the north, the popularity of our Almajiri schools system has finally solved the educational backwardness in the three zones of the giant north. We shall follow this up with a revolution of the normadic education system started positively by the Babangida regime in the 1980’s and we would have wiped out ignorance.

“On insurgency, positive results are emerging from the combined forces of our neighbours who have realized that Boko Haram is not just a threat to Nigeria, but also a major regional threat and the need for a combined effort to wipe out this al Qaeda-inspired menace should be dealt a fatal blow by a combined regional force. What will APC change in tackling insurgency as they have claimed every day of the campaign? Absolutely nothing! All that they will change is that they will apply their propaganda expertise and confuse Nigerians even more.

“The PDP juggernaut is up, running and is unstoppable. Political campaigning is not about mounting the soap box and shouting APC Change! APC Change! Change without proper analysis and costing is simply time wasting. I expect that the APC should have handed down what their budget would look like this year if they won, and show Nigerians where they will get the money to finance their mountain of promises, but nothing of the sort has yet happened as campaign closes.

“This is the least that Nigerians deserve, not a conglomeration of failed political parties with nothing to offer than to promise heaven and earth. If the PDP was merely lily-livered, it should have collapsed with all the poaching of our best brains and the defection of our members. Yes we were knocked down, but we are not out. We have in fact stood up to their challenge and now pummeling them to submission.

“My take on the campaign so far is that we have a great chance in the northwest and northeast and the north central is our usual hunting ground where we normally excel. The huge votes of Kano will be shared equally because our leadership there has done a great job, thanks to the fighting spirit of Education Minister Shekarau, coupled with the unsure steps of the governor which has prevented him from involvement in pushing their presidential candidate.

PoliticsWhy Can’t Christians Produce A Buhari? – Rev. Moses Iloh by ninjasta(op): 7:17am On Feb 01, 2015
BY CHRISTY ANYANWU

Octogenarian, Reverend Moses IIoh is the General Overseer of Soul Winning Chapel, Ebute-Meta, Lagos, and an accomplished sportsman, administrator, labour and social activist. His avid interest in sports, and the grace of God account for his good carriage despite being above 80 years. When he comments on national issues, Rev. Iloh does so with candor and insight. In the run up to his 85th birthday on February 13, he sat down for an extensive interview and liberally commented on the Nigerian polity.

Excerpts…

In a few days, the 2015 general elections will kick-off with the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 14. Different men God have spoken on the election. What is your perception the forthcoming election?

My understanding and what I believe regarding the election is that Christians in Nigeria constitute the main problem of Nigeria. This is a time for Christians to feel a bit worried. In Nigeria, statistics show that we have about 80million Christians who go to church at different locations on Sunday, and they are all praying for a better Nigeria. Now what does the Bible say? Faith without works is dead. Quote clearly, when it comes to politics in Nigeria, it’s all about faith, faith, not work. The Bible has been asking, “who shall go for us, who shall we send? If you go to your church tomorrow and a Christian there, who is very honest, very bold, forthright, has dignity and he says, ‘Look, I want to go and contest for the governorship be governor, do you know what the church will ask him first, do you have money? What is money in the church for? What is the congregation in the church for if not to change the world?

My understanding of politics is that politics is the proper management of the affairs of men, preferably by the righteous. In Nigerian churches today, you have over 50 million righteous people, who are doing their business straight or they are lecturing straight or they have family that are a testimony but when it comes to politics, they are as naïve as a kindergarten in politics. I want to make a political statement about the Nigerian situation by alluding to the Bible. In the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ said, “The thief cometh not but to steal, to kill and to destroy but I have come that they may have life and have life more abundantly (John 10v10). Part ‘A’ of that scripture says, ‘the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy.’

That is the politics of Nigeria. God is seriously expecting Christians to come into politics and bring about Part ‘B’ of that scripture: life and life more abundantly to the people. But today, the Christians are so naïve. Oh, its politics of the world. But you go to the politicians to take money, you go and befriend him and you know he is a crook, you know he is evil; you know he is anti-Christ. When you pray to the Lord, you have to do something. Faith without works is dead. So, the problem in Nigeria is not Islam, it’s not Boko Haram, it’s not Ebola, but the Christians. Faith without works is dead. I hope that Christians would repent.

Let me tell you something else – we have been praying and saying, ‘Lord, change Nigeria, we want a good Nigeria, corruption does not mean stealing money only. Corruption is not just only about stealing public money. When you say corruption, everybody’s idea is, I don’t steal money, how can you say am corrupt? Corruption means spoiling. When you corrupt a thing, you have spoilt it. The church itself has been corrupted. I don’t say they steal money but they have been spoilt. They have shown that they have faith, but without works. They have been praying and praying and God said I have heard your prayer, I am now going to do for you what you need, not what you want. When we are praying, God is just watching. When do we know what we need? What Nigeria needs is the taming of corruption and this country would become like Garden of Eden or Canaan.

All we need is to tame corruption, there is corruption in every facet of the Nigerian polity and the most urgent thing is to tame it. We have been praying and not doing anything; then God selected a Muslim, who has a very severe commitment to tame corruption. He is not a Christian, but God has seen his inside, God sees the innermost of men’s hearts and he sees that this man has an aversion for corruption, he wants to deal with corruption then he chooses Buhari to go and be president for four years to tame corruption. Why can’t Christians raise a Buhari? Why can’t Christians raise someone who comes up bold and we can identify him as being anti-corruption. And we say to him, we beg you, we are sending you; we don’t need your money. We will send you there, we will vote for you, we will give you the money, we will give you the crowd, we will give you the support, and we will give you the prayer. Why can’t 80 million people raise one Buhari?......................

PoliticsPDP Steals N100 On Every Litre Of Kerosene – Oshiomhole by ninjasta(op): 8:32pm On Jan 29, 2015
Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, of oppressing Nigerians.

Oshiomhole said Nigerians have continued to suffer under the 16-year leadership of the PDP as a result of the party’s dedication “to preserve the privileges of the few.”

The governor made the utterances while receiving defectors from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benin, the Edo State capital.

Oshiomhole accused the Federal Government of not allowing Nigerians enjoy the benefits of the country’s rich oil deposits, adding that the ruling party is similar to “an impotent man”.

He said: “Today is not just the fact of the huge number in this hall but it is also about the quality of the brains that have now join us; and in a world that is knowledge-driven, it is only the party that can parade the best brains that can drive the sustainable change that Nigeria is currently battling with in order to bail our people from its present political quagmire.”

“The man who has a shop must close by 6 pm. If he operates beyond 6pm, he must put on a generator, and buy petrol or diesel. For 16 years, PDP can’t give us light. But if they were to leave us in peace even in the dark, it will be bad enough but for them, that is not bad enough.”

“From Otuoke to Benin City, to Lagos, to Ekpoma, to Iyahmo, to Sokoto, kerosene is now between N150 and N160 per litre. For every N150 you spend in buying a litre of kerosene, PDP steals N100 because in the books of NNPC, they have it on records that kerosene is N50 per litre.”

PoliticsItsekiris Declare Support For Buhari, APC by ninjasta(op): 12:26pm On Jan 29, 2015
Itsekiri people in Delta State have said they will vote massively for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, and all the party’s candidates in next month’s general elections.

They also expressed unhappiness over their alleged maltreatment by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, noting that not even his recent visit to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II, would deter them.

Their position was made known when Itsekiri Legacy Rebirth, ILR, a socio-political pressure group, paid the Warri monarch a visit.

The group said President Jonathan had failed to keep his promises, not just to Itsekiri people but also to millions of Nigerians he disappointed when he yet again aborted plans to do the ground-breaking ceremony of Ogidigben Export Processing Zone, EPZ, last November, thereby playing politics with the project.

The ILR Chairman, Dr Alex Ideh, on the occasion presented some of its members contesting political offices in the general elections on the platform of APC to the monarch and top Itsekiri chiefs.

Ideh noted: “Our position had always been very clear; Itsekiri will do APC this time around, very certainly. So, if you see many of our members for APC, it’s (not) coincidence.

“I don’t see this president as someone who has capacity; I think Buhari will do a better job. I have said this time without number and it’s my place to guide my people aright.”

Further explaining the shift in Itsekiri people’s position, Ideh said: “The several postponement of the EPZ ground breaking ceremony is one of the reasons we say the president does not keep his words. This is a president who promised in the presence of millions of Nigerians that he is coming to do the ground breaking. He broke his promise, not only to Itsekiri, but to the people of Delta State and the entire country, which people would have benefitted from that project. Slowing it down was not the best and there was no reason for him to have done that.

ComputersBuhari Promises Igbo Youths Jobs by ninjasta(op): 4:48pm On Jan 26, 2015

Correspondent Enugu

Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), has promised to create one million jobs for Igbo youths in the South East by revamping huge coal deposits in Enugu State for generation of electricity and export.

Buhari made the promise at Enugu West APC zonal rally held in Orie Awgu Market, Awgu Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

The presidential hopeful who was represented by the State Chairman of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Mr Osita Okechukwu, explained that the coal would be revamped with the objective of generating electricity to serve the entire South East, hence boosting the economy of the zone.

Buhari assured that he would award the contract immediately he is sworn into office to avoid the mistakes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that squandered over N2 billion voted for 3D Seismic Study for the coal to power project between 2012 and 2014.

“We are banking on huge coal deposits located at Amasiodo, Inyi and Leje axis of Enugu Coal belt. We are going to award contract for mining and construction of coal-fired-power-plant unlike PDP that since 1999 promised to revamp the coal fields and 16 years after, nothing has been done.

“We believe that coal is the most abundant fossil fuel in Enugu State and Enugu Coal is one of the most qualitative brand in the world, which means that while some are used to generate electricity, some will be exported,” Buhari said.

In fairness, some of us have known this all along. Under Buhari’s watch as Petroleum Minister in the late 1970s, $2.8 billion (worth billions of naira today) was missing from the NNPC account. The matter was subject to Senate investigation under the chairmanship of Olusola Saraki in 1983. But before the report could be dealt with, Buhari conveniently overthrew the Shagari government in a military coup d’état
