Exchange rate may not favour boarder opening for now. After sourcing for FX at the current rate and import commodities it will be hard to sell in naira and make profit.

I was thinking his administration would use the subsidy money to encourage agricultural production. But they have been silent about the use of the money.

Was there any subsidy savings? Have they not been saying that they are borrowing to pay for subsidy, and if true which savings are we talking about?

Do we really have food shortage in the country? I think the issue is rising cost of food items not shortage.

Nooneonline:

Become a producing country rather than a consuming one and the good news is we are already a producing country but Nigerian politicians are full of nepotism and very tribalistic.
The Easterners are into manufacturing and production of goods and the Northerners are mainly into agriculture. For example The Easterners also produce rice. A very sweet one at that, known as the abakaliki rice but its not common in the Nigerian Market, also they produce cement; ibeto cement and la farge cement just to mention a few but they only sell in the east. Nobody wants to give them licence to operate in other parts of the country, we have only dangote and Bua cement causing a monopoly in that sector, if licences are given to these cement producers then cement prices will crash and there will be healthy competition in that sector.. Innoson motors is not patronised by anyone outside the east.
Then we have only one major sea port which is in the west..the onitsha seaport is almost a forgotten story since Jonathan left office...
Now the westerners are into agriculture too but only Lagos and ogun state are really functioning in the west and not for farming but for housing the headquarters of major companies in Nigeria but all hope is not lost..lagos is the tech hub of Nigeria and full of intellectuals and man power in the labour market...let's produce an enabling environment and a level playing field for everyone.
Now we have oil. No refinery is working. Dangote refinery is great though not functioning at the moment. We can also add to that one by repairing our other refineries.... then give the local man roads. light and security
My one cent.may God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬
P.s I'm not an igbo man I'm from bayelsa and we need a refinery or two in the south.

Very good explanation.

This cashless policy has shown how inefficient banks are. Transfering money has now become an issue. First bank and Access bank are just so useless.

I will move my money to network providing banks like smartcash. Lemme try Smartcash and see.

Many people are now using transfer platforms and the traffic is more now compared to some months back so this is expected. where the Banks got it wrong is by not envisaging this earlier and improving their bandwidth before now.

Politics / Re: Wike: Our Preferred Candidate Is A Man Of Integrity. No PDP If G5 Is Expelled by nisah(m): 11:08am On Jan 19, 2023
Instead of daring PDP to expel you why don't you go ahead and pronounce any Presidential candidate aside that of PDP and see what will happen, the party themselves have been stupidly patient about your issue harboring unrealistic hope of resolving issues .

I find it difficult to believe that this man and his allies do not still understand that PDP have moved on and they have been reduced to comedians who are dishing empty threats.

It's an incontestable fact that HE Gov. WIKE and the other G5 members are important to PDP and possibly to the emergence of its Presidential candidate, but it's also very clear that the relationship has broken beyond repair and there is no assurance that even with the G5 support the party will win.

The most honorable thing to do since by the G5 was to leave the party and support whoever you so wishes and if WIKE is clever he should align with PETER OBI because with or without his support, OBI will do tremendously well in Rivers and others SS States. If he support OBI and the votes comes people will assume its Wike's support even though surely it will still add to it but not really much.

budaatum:
This is like claiming when Nigeria stops electing octogenarians and elects younger people, the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been downgraded.

It's also like claiming a child who inherits the business of the father downgrades the office of Chief Executive Officer.

I guess the solution is bring back Margaret T, Tony B, Gordon B, Davis C. and Buhari then. Better still, go and drag Abacha from hell and vote for him if you don't think your generation is an upgrade.

Argue with facts please......

Let me say this:

I am from the North, and the best performing Governors in the North in terms of Infrastructural development are El Rufa'i of Kaduna, Zulum of Borno and Ganduje of Kano State. Rememder also, that we have young Governors in Niger and Kogi States that have failed woefully in terms of infrastructural development and general governance. So i cant agree with you please.
Politics / Is The Office Of Uk's Prime Minister Been Downgraded? by nisah(m): 1:38pm On Oct 25, 2022
Hello Nairalanders, going by the recent happenings in UK politics especially as it affect the office the Prime Minister, i have a feeling that the recent PMs (Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak) are not in the league of the likes of Margaret T, Tony B,Gordon B, Davis C. etc in terms of experience and expossure.

It appears to me that the level of experience of the recent crop of contenders to this office is far below the standard of those that were there 15 years and beyond.

However, one major positive out of this is that youths are bracing up and the country's politics is matured and working unlike here that we kept recycling old and expired politicians.

My brother, it is clear you don't know Kano politics. Kwankwaso and Shekarau have cult-like followership in Kano. Take incumbency away from Ganduje and see him loose his polling unit. With this development, APC is gone in Kano.

In other words, the judgement implies that the provision cannot stand the test of Law as it is in clear contradiction with the constitution of the federal Rep. of Nig. which by extension amount to strangulating some Nigerians from their constitutional right.

This a masterpiece strategy though not a member, I have been following their activities and other separatist groups closely. They have now almost incorporated everybody in the struggle and their next stage will force every Biafran to be discussing about Biafra, singing Biafra national anthem, waving the flags and these will even make government establishment complying. It's a well thought out plan and again Nigeria is not working, it has collapsed irredeemably and it can only get worst. Self determination is the right of Biafrans.

Great.

You want someone to educate you, let me help you. You must protest or express your displeasure when agitating for something, that is to make your feelings known. Now the person you are protesting against sends security officers to shoot you because you aren't armed. Then you decide to avoid being shot at by staying indoors as a form of protest. What is important is the fact the you've expressed your displeasure just like a hunger strike. When you protest on the street, you lose economically and my even lose your life. So which of the two is the better option?

Thank you for the explanation. But my thinking is that the IPOB leaders should be able to enforce this in Abuja where decision makers sits for it to have an impact.

-DO YOU REALIZE THAT THERE ARE FAMILIES THAT NEED TO GO OUT DAILY AND WORK IN ORDER TO FEED ?
-DO YOU ALSO REALIZE THAT PEOPLE ARE OBEYING THIS ORDER NOT BECAUSE THEY SEE ANY SENSE IN IT BUT BECAUSE OF FEAR OF IPOB?

I think this is doing more harm to the masses that the IPOB claim they are trying to liberate.

I wish you guys all the luck.

Your statement is purely out of hatred. What do you mean by that? Let me educate you. First of all, you are wrong as you said earlier. We appreciate whatever our leaders decide on this issue. We believe their God- given wisdom is what they are using to give us orders. We will sit at home from Monday to Friday if they command us , and that will not stop us from paying our monthly IPOB levy to our constituency chairman. We know you will laugh and call us Mumu , but we don’t mind. We will close our shops, send money to our leaders who are based abroad till we get what we want.
Even when other regions are campaigning for their presidential candidates in the coming election, we will not support our people. Infact we will not vote. Anybody caught campaigning or voting will be dealt with. If the zoo wants to elect anybody to govern them and maybe us, we don’t mind. But we will still be shouting marginalization.

OK.
