Thanks Guys,

Sorry I have been busy with work. I am tracking this issue for a friend.

He managed to take the car to the mechanic after I created this post.

The mech says he should replace the valve body and oil.

I actually told him to wait for feedback from here before he proceeds to a mech.

What do you think about this? Also if I could get contact from any of you guys, he could get the car across to you guys.

Thanks

I think it's too late

If you put in Abro atf into this vehicle for instance, you would get a random selection of transmission codes related to line pressure, temp sensor and electricals all focused on the valve body. The trick sometimes is to look at the symptoms.
Normally, you would not get all 3 transmission codes noted here at the same time and really none of them would cause the vehicle not to move at all as the OP stated.
So, except the CVT connector isnt properly seated or TCM is damaged, I would go with fluid as the issue.

In any case the issue did not just start randomly and if the OP offers up more information it will be easier to detect what the issue is.
Car Talk / Re: Transmission Issues Nissan Altima 2008 by nissparts(m): 2:06pm On Feb 16, 2017
The answer usually lies in knowing proper history.
OP should provide details of how the symptoms began.
What work was done before it started and what has been done after.

As usual, I will give an educated guess still, trans fluid has been compromised.
Either wrong fluid or water in the fluid.

nissparts, please come to my aid
my nissan altima 2004 was parked at night after work on day 1, day 2 i only opened the trunk, picked an item and left for work (didnt take the car), came back at night to drive a friend home, car wouldn't start, so i got rewire, mechanic to check, mechanic said (no spark on plugs, cant go further), rewire checked fuses, said brainbox, scanned vehicle and it gave P1612 and another P1601 i am not so sure but it was something about NATS, so the rewire guy said i should get my other key and try, i tried with the other master key, engine cranks as ussual but no start, however i notice when ignition in ON position, security light stays on which i learnt (online) is an immobilizer malfunction symptom. when doors locked and windows up, security system does not arm, the light does not blink. Now, the guy says we have to buy BCM (Body Control Module) to solve this problem and reprogram keys, but i read online that the old BCM has to be read to program new, moreso, of the 5 digits code on the old BCM 2 characters are missing!
i dont just want to buy today BCM, tomorow ECU, next tommorow another grammar, please what can u deduce and advice, car has been sitting idle for a week plus now.
thanks for your help.
Where are you located?

Timing marks are not the issue. If the timing marks were off, you would get a stutter.

Not in these Nissans.
The signs are all there

@Nissparts,
My car is now messed up.
I learnt 2 plugs are soaking wet after starting for a few minutes and gasket burnt as the oil has mixed with coolant or water-milkyand it all started with camshaft sensors etc,and they ended up working on timing etc and now it starts but not revs,im not sure what to do now and on inquiry i learnt the tokunboh engine for 2005 xterra grade A is 750K.
Can you just give me a honest opinion on what to do?
Its a 2005 xterra and im really just confused now.
thanks

Car Talk / Re: Explaining Catalysts And Catalyst Codes by nissparts(m): 12:01am On Sep 18, 2016

Hello Nissparts, I have a Nissan Pathfinder 2005 SUV. No major issues, guzzles a lot of fuel (V6 wahala i guess), works just fine. 'Service Engine Soon' light came on recently and upon scanning it gave the following fault codes; P0420, P0430. My internet searches led me here. It doesn't jerk, no issues with hill climbing, accelerates easily, and guzzles fuel. What do you advise?

Keep an eye on it. It will get progressively worse. As soon as you observe any symptoms, replace or remove cats

Dude!
As we type now, I have a bill of over 100k waiting for me at the mechanic.
It happened that last Tuesday, the car all of a sudden started stalling with no prior incident, I managed it to the mechanic, with intermittent stop and starts on the way.
Mech swung into action after scanning, happened that the blocked cat has already created heated/broken valve, spark plugs, gaskets, distribution coil and all kinds of issues.
It took him about a week to dismantle all these and listed items for purchase and bill. I gave him 80k to commence work, on my way there now to get updates as he promised the car will be roaring back to life this evening.

I'm especially happy with the idea of using an O2 sensor spacer after hollowing out the cat and welding back as revealed in this thread. I'll ldiscuss it with the Mech when I get there, as I can't imagine increasing fuel consumption at this critical time.

How far? Is it fixed?
