I read too that it's not good to use walker but exersaucers (a stationary activity center) is better. I actually got an exersaucer for my son. It's like walker but it doesn't move. But also more expensive than walker.

NoQualms1:
Mamas, una weldone o.

Please, what's your take on the use of baby walkers?

My husband wants us to get one for my baby that is almost 5 months old. I read online that it should be used from when baby is 6 months old but he's not ready to hear. I also read on babycentre.co.uk that it is not good for babies at all, that it interferes with their development. She disturbs a lot and he feels getting a baby walker will make her busy and disturb less.

Anyone with experience on it's use should say something please. Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with NAN dear cos in many naija hospitals, thats what is recommended. As long as your baby accepts it well then its fine to give NAN. A friend's daughter rejected up to 5 foreign milk but accepted NAN very well so she stuck to it. If your baby takes NAN please i ll advice u give NAN.

It's not like that dear. It's probably because everyone is busy. As regards ur question, some babies reject breastmilk early. My son rejected at 5months. U can still continue to breastfeed to see if ur baby will accept it. Otherwise u can express and feed him with it via bottle.

Also maybe ur baby doesn't just like SMA so u can try other milk say NAN for example.

I started givin my baby pap at 18weeks that's 4months and 2weeks but b4 I did that I considered some factors. I also gave cereal suitable for 4months b4 introducing pap.

Thanks Nita. I knew it will reduce with time, just that I didn't expect it to happen so suddenly and the fact that it has been helping with birth control. I am really enjoying that and I wish it won't stop till I'm ready again. lol

Nefer u dey here too?? Hahahahahaha cheesy

nefertitiram:

Please don't take it for granted.
Reduce activities, no kpekusing and if d doctor insists you go on bed rest, please adhere.
I think at 26 weeks, the placenta will most likely shift upwards out of the danger zone, but in the meantime, just give yourself mandatory bed rest.
It is well, we will all carry to term.

When God Created Mothers"
When the Good Lord was
creating mothers, He was
into His sixth day of
"overtime" when the angel
appeared and said. "You're
doing a lot of fiddling
around on this one."
And God said, "Have you
read the specs on this
order?" She has to be
completely washable, but not
plastic. Have 180 moveable
parts...all replaceable. Run
on black coffee and
leftovers. Have a lap that
disappears when she stands
up. A kiss that can cure
anything from a broken leg
to a disappointed love
affair. And six pairs of
hands."
The angel shook her head
slowly and said. "Six pairs of
hands.... no way."
It's not the hands that are
causing me problems," God
remarked, "it's the three
pairs of eyes that mothers
have to have."
That's on the standard
model?" asked the angel. God
nodded.
One pair that sees through
closed doors when she asks,
'What are you kids doing in
there?' when she already
knows. Another here in the
back of her head that sees
what she shouldn't but what
she has to know, and of
course the ones here in front
that can look at a child when
he goofs up and say. 'I
understand and I love you'
without so much as uttering
a word."
God," said the angel
touching his sleeve gently,
"Get some rest tomorrow...."
I can't," said God, "I'm so
close to creating something
so close to myself. Already I
have one who heals herself
when she is sick...can feed a
family of six on one pound
of hamburger...and can get a
nine year old to stand under
a shower."
The angel circled the model
of a mother very slowly. "It's
too soft," she sighed.
But tough!" said God
excitedly. "You can imagine
what this mother can do or
endure."
Can it think?"
Not only can it think, but it
can reason and
compromise," said the
Creator.
Finally, the angel bent over
and ran her finger across
the cheek.
There's a leak," she
pronounced. "I told You that
You were trying to put too
much into this model."
It's not a leak," said the
Lord, "It's a tear."
What's it for?"
It's for joy, sadness,
disappointment, pain,
loneliness, and pride."
You are a genius, " said the
angel.
Somberly, God said, "I didn't
put it there."

Mothers are awesomely made.

Lovinam is right pls. It's dangerous but most mothers wud tell u their babies sleep more and longer on their tummy. Even d side sef I really don't buy it too cos if dd baby is like mine that started rolling at 1week then b4 u kno it, d baby wud be on his/her tummy.

Just keep placing ur baby on her back or side if she is not d rolling type yet and she ll eventually get use to it. I made sure my son slept on his back till 5months when he cud now roll from front to back and back to front.

So just keep trying dear she ll get use to it

mytestimony:

Ok thanks
She does kpuhu once in a while. Not like serious cough o
.
If I lie my baby on her side she doesnt sleep for long o. The thing de weak ma bori

Call back and book appointment with doctor. They now book both financial and doctors appointment.

When u call, be polite and tell d person that u want to book appointment as a new patient to see d doctor as u already av that of francesa that u want a situation whereby after finishing with d financial counsellor u can see d doctor

segbas:
Hello,
Please I want to ask this question, is about MIHS.

Is the Appointment Letter sent by Francisca enough for visa interview, as the letter states meeting with Financial Counselor not Doctor.

Please shed more light on this especially people that have used and still using MIHS.

Thanks.

Hi dear, pls don't use d rice we eat. Baby rice cereal is made from brown rice. I believe u can use another make of brown rice not necessarily uncle ben's brown rice. For d Oat someone had asked b4 if she could use good morning oat. I told her to check d contents of both so I guess u should do same too

enioladimeji:

Thanks ma'am
pls i can't find the small packet of uncle bens rice anywhere, only the big size and i don't know if my baby will like it. pls can i use the rice we eat to make rice cereal or it's just brown rice?
And must the oat be the old quaker oat or i can use any oat.
Thanks

Lol @ anal molestation

Kimoni:

I disagree o. I still can't imagine sticking an adult finger into a newborn's butt hole as a remedy for constipation. You realise how fat some people's fingers are? even the pinky? That is anal molestation!

A good quality Cotton bud (not the ones sold in traffic) rarely get stuck in the ears if it is used gently talkess of the butt hole.

Anyways, each to her own.

Cheers

Some advice has been given already but I guess it's d first poop that is hard thereby blockin d others from comin out too. Once d 1st poop can come out, she ll be able to poop. Then pls drink lots of water as well.

I guess different pple with different method. My son had it at 6weeks and it wasn't on his body alone, it wiped of his hair. I got Nizoral shampoo for 1000naira (as recommended by a friend), when I want to give him his bath, I rub d whole body and head with d Nizoral shampoo, wait for 5-7mins then use same Nizoral on his body and head to bathe him without using any other soap. I did this for one week and d nla was gone but I continued for another one week but reduced it to once a day b4 stopping. His cream was aveeno eczema cream.

The active chemical in Nizoral is 'ketoconazole'. U can look it up online to kno more about it

Also watch what u eat too so as to kno if ur baby is reactin to a certain food.

Mzora:
pls wats d solution to nla?

U can't say otherwise adviced by a doctor, a mother should not give cereal b4 6months. I beg to differ.

We only give advice here. Every mother do what ur heart tells u. I won't comment on this again.

bossladyMo:

I said otherwise prescribed by your doctor. There are many reasons a baby would seem like they are not getting filled up e.g badly healing navel, gas pains etc...which makes them stay so long at the brst. So your doctor than rule these other causes out, and advise you give cereal.
Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Nita2013: 6:20am On Apr 06, 2015
U clearly understand d highlighted but from what I deduced from bossladyMo's post, we should not give our babies anything other than breastmilk or formula until 6months without any exceptions.

Kimoni:

ve cancer so smoking must be good...fa fa fa fowl

Back to the issue, true a few babies are ready for semi-solids at 4 months but there is still a lot of limitations to what they can really take and that's why only very few cereals starts from 4 months, most starts from 6 months.

May God guide us all.
Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Nita2013: 6:03am On Apr 06, 2015
Like I stated b4, everyone do what ur heart tells u is ok cos I kno, no mother would want to hurt her child.

My nephew is allergic and lactose intolerant and thus stopped breastmilk at 1month as well as formula. He took cereal (maize and oat) from 1month as adviced by a doctor though with a special kind of milk that he refused drinkin. What should happen to a child like that? Till today his meals are prepared specially (he is 6years) until he outgrows d allergy.

I personally don't like maize but don't condemn mothers that givve their babies. I prefer guinea corn annd millet. For d 1month abi 2months old been fed pap, like I said and someone else too, u never can tell what led to that. I won't feed my baby anything other than milk at 2months but that doesn't mean my baby's case is same as another.

I av stated this b4 in one of my previous post that start with rice and oat cereal at 4months because of d baby's digestive system and also introduce one cereal at a time to watch out for any reactions.

Some mothers don't even give pap at all cos they don't like it while others say d stress of makin it. My son is over 6months and eats varieties but anytime I give him cerelac, he poops like 7times that day so I had to stop.

To each it's own oh.

Wait oh madam, I guess u r getting it all wrong. Let me speak for myself. I don't kno what led to a mother feeding her baby pap at 2months but u never can tell. Then when I say pap, do u think. It's only pap that d baby 'll be eating? Yes babies need lotsssss of iron like u rightly said, what happens to d milk that is mixed with d pap? What happens to d other cereal that is mixed with milk? Is there no iron in d milk?

I call millet and guinea corn pap as well. And not only maize. I heard yorubas call it Ogi baba. I feed my baby pap twice a week so don't think when someone is sayin pap, it means stuff ur baby up with only pap.

Formulas r made for kids yes no doubt about that. What of d babies that reject breastmilk and formulas? What of d ones that are lactose intolerant

Kindly ask to verify someone's statement or post b4 concluding

r=bossladyMo post=32392569]

Nutritional content for ADULTS...not for babies. That's why formula is specially made for children to fit their unique nutritional needs. Children need lots and lots of iron.....does pap contain that?[/quote]

Hian! Pls dear there are ways to even pass info across. And kindly ask any doctor d nutritional content in corn, guinea corn, millet etc

bossladyMo:

Yea....so fill your child with nutrition-less pap....that's a perfect way to go. Sigh! She could as well be feeding the child water.

I can't believe someonr who cant afford formula, also cant exclusively breastfeed. Most times, a mother is able to do one of the 2.
Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Nita2013: 3:21pm On Apr 05, 2015
Like someone clearly stated there r reasons y things are been done. If a doctor says give pap to a 1month old baby that's fine.

As regards feeding infants cereal b4 6months; medically they say wait for 6months but my dear same medical pple say there are circumstances where u can introduce cereal at 4months;
1. D baby's ability to hold up his/her neck (that's if d head is stable)
2. D baby's interest in food while others are eating
3. D baby's ability to push food back into d mouth with d tongue when been fed with spoon and plate and learning how to chew quickly
4. If d baby takes more than 35-38ounce/oz of formula in a day (that's more than 1050ml-1330ml) etc
5. Sitting with assistance

These same medical pple also said even if u introduce cereal at 4months make sure to still breastfeed alongside.

Let me use my case, my son's head/neck was steady at 4months, he started sitting unassisted at 4months, my son was super interested in food while others eat, at d second attempt of feeding him with spoon, he pushed d food to d back of his mouth with his tongue, my son was drinking 64ounce of formula a day (1920ml)minus breastmilk. My son rejected breastmilk at 5months on d dot (his father did same at same age).

At almost 4months my son wud cry after takin breastmilk or at times when suckin because he wasn't getting enough milk. If I had continued that way then maybe my nipple wud remain in his mouth for 24hrs. I supplemented and that helped.

I don't think if it is really harmful medical association wud even allow cereal suitable from 4months to be fed to babies or even produced at all.

In all u r d mother of d child, do what ur heart tells u.

bossladyMo:
And mothers feeding cereal to their less than 6 month old babies............haba!

Except otherwise advised by a doctor, you should not give your <6mth old baby cereal. I'm yet to come across any info that states you can and should give a <6mth old baby cereal, even if your doc does not preacribe it.

This act is bad. Breast milk and/or Formula is all they need till 6months. Pls pls pls!

U can try making ur own rice cereal and oat cereal (suitable from 4months) and give to her. It will save u cash and last longer. U can also add pap to her meal but introduce a new food weekly so as to watch out for any reactions.

When I started with d pack of Heinz rice, my son finished it in 3 feeds (he has large appetite though) but makin my own saved me aa whole lot of cash

MumZ:

Tanks much, ll try it out, she dsnt eat enough even wit me giving her abidec. Been wanting 2 add anoda meal 2 d formula.
