larride: He’s playing a withdrawn role somehow. Son is on the wings and at the same time the false 9. More like the number 10 position? Pretty interesting. He’s got great vision and accuracy. He is also hardworking. Mou is a mad man sha, baba has brainwashed his boys. Harry was talking about the mid-block strategy against City yesterday and how effective it was. Anyway, trophies matter more, play well against small clubs and be strategic against the big boys. I do think that Spurs will win a trophy this season. |

Messi that is Barca's president. Playing against EPL teams once in a while is different from meeting these clubs every damn week, or twice a week. Nezzjnr: Pogba on #mufc: “This is a period, the kind of which I have never experienced in my career. The French national team is a breath of fresh air… We are very happy to come here and all very happy to see each other again.” #muzone [RTF]
Pogba: “It's not that in the club, we don't have fun, but here, it's not the same. We laugh. It's really a family. And the group we have, regulars or substitutes, it's really magical. And that's why we're happy to come to the selection.“ #muzone [RTF]
Pogba: “The coach has enormous confidence in us. And we trust him too. That mental strength makes the difference. The substitutes, their seriousness and their professionalism, and their talent...they work hard and they don't complain. They really represent France.“ #muzone [RTF]
A United player can actually say this and the club hasn't put him out for sale already?? Maybe it’s the truth na! Geez, so many points reeled out by Pogba. Mental strength, trust and confidence , tactical acumen, professionalism, etc. |

Expert17: I am not changing anything.
You can't call a 9/10 CF lazy, mind you he was banging in goals for 15 years straight.....
Can Anthony Martial play as our top 9 under Fergie? Wait, I want to check something first. Can you list the players in the current squad that should (ideally) be starting for man utd ....just focus on the ones you think should be starting? |

Smellymouth: Ahhn ahnnn.. Nitro, RVN was lazy? Yes. Just try to understand where I am coming from. Ruud no dey too hustle for ball, na box 18 player. I guess that's the definition of laziness, except Expert wants to change it. Meanwhile, positioning, aerial threat, etc. come with the football system adopted, and what the manager wants. |

benji93: Van Nistelrooy was lazy, but he was banging in goals, so it didn't matter. Martial isn't scoring, so his laziness is inexcusable. Make una dey straight with your arguments. Firminho works because Sane and Salah are Prolific. We cannot say the same for our front 3. His hold up is quite good I'll give him that, but that becomes a burden if the other guys cannot deliver the goals. Thanks. Nistelrooy was lazy (relative to other strikers), but definitely deadly. I think we agree that if the system makes sense, and Martial refuses to score a lot of goals, then we can complain. Also, tell the others to step up so Martial's hold-up is useful. Lukaku that is not lazy was here, many people said that he should not be striking for man utd, Martial and Rashford are better bla bla bla, now we are complaining that Martial is lazy and Rashford has other things on his mind. Fact is no player is perfect. Your system determines how effective or efficient your forward players are. Guys need to get off the fence so thunder can fire them very well. |

Expert17: A lazy CF won't be in the right position
Football is brain work not garagara, you must calculate your moves...
A lazy CF won't compete with Thiery Henry every season..
A lazy CF won't win 3-4 UCL highest goal scorer and also win highest goal scorer in 3 different leagues. Well, your definition of laziness is diff. Martial doesn’t do garagara, you guys are complaining that he is not strong and tough. Bros, Martial is not doing well right now, but he is a very good forward player. Cest fini! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 4:26pm On Nov 08, 2020 |
96forever: there’s a reason why despite him scoring for fun we were not winning trophies that much, compare that to Rooney Ronaldo Tevez where we didn’t depend on a lone striker for goals.
Someone being called expert doesn’t mean he/she is good at something.. he/she can still might be expert in foolishness. Don’t mind him. The three players upfront should be sharing the responsibilities of providing goals and assists. Thank God we have Bruno, we also need Rashford and Greenwood to give us goals, and we are good to go. We don’t need a striker to score 80 percent of our EPL goals abeg. |

Someone that sniffs around the goal area like mad, great positioning, ..... he is a complete CF. Laziness and positioning......are different. Nistelrooy was lazy, except you did not watch him. |

Expert17: @bolded....yes, he must be that good. This is Manchester United not Bolton.
Ferguson that was signing all the available top strikers is not stupid.
Martial can't be our top 9 under Fergie. I guess starting as the main striker for a country is a function of the player's club performances. (Correlation or causation or both?).......and that takes us back to the club's system of play! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:55pm On Nov 08, 2020 |
TrebleChamp: If Martial was given us performance like that of Sterling or Sane, we won't be complaining would we? Dude just put up lazy attitude on the pitch like nothing is at stake, anyway we need a proper goal scorer to help propel us to greatness again... No! We need Martial, Rashford, Greenwood to each give us 15 EPL goals (on average) by season, and we'll be fine. Also, we need a system that aids fluidity upfront so you dont rely on Martial to give you 30 EPL goals in a season. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:53pm On Nov 08, 2020 |
TrebleChamp: After now you will say i don't watch our games, am sure you are happy with Martial's attitude on the pitch. He is lazy, unserious and should be our main striker if we really want to progress as a club period... Well, Nistelrooy was lazy, but the system was very good, he scored goals for fun. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:49pm On Nov 08, 2020 |
Expert17: Martial is not a CF, that's the message.
We need a CF that can
- compete in the air/score headers
-smell goal and position himself for goal
- out muscle defenders
Liverpool system is not static, Firminho is not rooted to CF position, there is constant interchange.
I can't remember Fergie winning the league with a CF that is not a starter for his country. Again, depends on the system, you have said that Liverpool’s is not static, correct, but we all know that Firminho is the main striker. Cross and nod system depends on a striker that competes in the air....... meanwhile, no striker is complete. So our striker must be a starter for his country? Wow! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:45pm On Nov 08, 2020 |
Man City won the league in 18/19, Agusto scored 21 league goals, it was Raheem that supported with another 17 goals and Sane 10 goals.
We don’t need Martial to score 30 Epl goals before we can win the league. Rashford, Bruno, Greenwood etc will provide the right level of support. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:38pm On Nov 08, 2020 |
Expert17: Yes, Martial is trying his best....he had a great contribution last season.
But we can't win the league with Martial as our no 1 Striker. Must your striker score 30 epl goals before we can win the league? there are other forward players that can help reach those milestones as a club. I am talking about the guy playing number 10, the winger on the right and the one on the right. We all know that Firminho does not score lots of goals as a striker, but Liverpool still won the league. The system matters! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:35pm On Nov 08, 2020 |
TrebleChamp: Martial and Rashford cost us the FA Cup and Europa league last season, we definitely won't move forward as quickly as we want having Martial as our main striker period. Which big team would Martial start as main striker? So, your striker must score how many goals before we can win the league? Meanwhile, let’s sort out the system first, and watch how these players will be scoring goals for fun. |

SyIvalord: One simple explanation. An extreme lack of passing options. Well, Bruno is really good. However, the difference between Bruno and De Bruyne is that when the street is tough, KDB tries to be calm and calculated. You need those defining moments that stand you out. It’s not about throwing passes around and away for the fun of it. Two days ago, Bruno lost the ball 33 times, because of stup1d decisions. Streets are tough right now, stop playing ‘baba ijebu’ or shooting sporadically into the air. |
