I am actually not going to involve myself in any argument about structure or no structure again. Anybody who thinks having a good structure is not important (or is a bad thing) in the success of an organization can keep on keeping on.

Maintaining or renovating facilities is not as a result of the so called structure. The owners already had a plan to do it anyway, renovation was always going to happen. Structure is about making the right transfers, and giving the fans beautiful football and results on the pitch. Abi na structure dey renovate stadium?

Again, I want to believe they are acclimating to the new environment, and we’ll see the results shortly.

Our performance in the transfer window has been giving some dejavu vibes so far - I never see any difference between the current proceedings and what panned out in the immediate past TWs and we all know who the common denominator is

I don’t have experience operating a football club so i can’t say I’m the best candidate to turn things around.

But if i were to correct the anomaly, I’d start with changing the environment first.

Culture. Rules. Regulations. Process. Procedures. Everything concerning both players and coach should be well defined and unambiguous.

Then I’ll ensure the players and coaches have the best equipment and operating schedules. How do they prepare for games, what can be done to improve it? To world standards. How is the coach approaching team harmony, tactics, and what not? What can be done to improve it? Do we need to get rid of some players who don’t fit in?

Once that is defined, you can move on to recruitment and what kinds of players you want to bring in.

That’s just a brief of how I’d approach it. It’s easier to hold people accountable for their jobs when they are given the best conditions to work in.

Is not the coach in charge of more than half of the things you mentioned? Culture, rules and regulations for the players. The manager defines those because he works with these players daily, therefore he should ideally handle those. I get the part where as a corporate, you would require those to be defined by the board, mainly for other employees and not the players.

It’s not hard to identify a good player. If you know what qualities are important in what parts of the field, you’ll easily know who’s good and who’s not.

Also, it doesn’t matter how big or small a club is, a coach should not be allowed to be in full control of transfer decisions, especially in this age. It must be a joint effort. Look at Arsenal, City and other topr clubs. Things don change.

It’s not hard, but ETH struggled with his transfers. Eph has pointed out what will happen if they buy players for him, you will still come back to blame the board.
