So reality is dawning on me for the tasks ahead.

Presently 33 with N85k/month salary job

During my days in school, I had thought life will be far better after school but here I am earning 85k/month and that is money that cannot even meet my immediate needs and not to talk of wants and unto other responsibilities.

By age, I'm supposed to have been married but still living in one room which is not advisable to even think of marriage in this condition.

To arrange myself for marriage, I need at least a one bedroom, furnished and comfortable. The yearly rent for that is about 400-450k

Then I am also worried about renewing the rent every year, year and year.

How about catering for the family? Aside rent, feeding, school fees (once married, you begin to reproduce), medical, clothing and so so and so forth.

To live a good life, you need a car for mobility sake as a family.

I can't continue to pay rent. Meaning I need to build a house.

Obviously, the 85k salary is not enough. I need to start a business.

And so many other issues giving me stress and sleepless night.

So my worry is, where would i get the money to do all these with these kind of job i am doing? For years i may not even raise a million naira.

I have seen situations where people no longer able to change clothes just because they now have a family and I'm trying to avoid that by all means.

I'm really really afraid of the future.

I feel there shouldn't be any future.

It's obviously true that life in Nigeria is very difficult right now but God has not forsaken us. Pls what you should do right now is to LEARN A SKILL / TRADE. Focus on succeeding at it and you'll excel.

Tell your friend, if he or she is skilled in teaching IGCSE mathematics then I can help recommend him/her to my contacts in Startrite,Regent schools, Springhall,Abuja world, Noblehall etc. You see these aforementioned schools and some fully Cambridge inclined schools in Abuja, we call then Champions-league schools, they can pay your contact up to 600k monthly and above. But the question is does your contact have the technical know-how? I read through many ill-informed comments here about teaching and I just shake my head as regards most Nigerians and their pathetic stereotypes about teaching in Nigeria. If you all knew how much Cambridge Teachers are earning from their lessons alone, not alone adding up their salaries you would beg to be Cambridge Teachers. The thing is, you can't give what you don't know and you will never earn in millions over primitive and fixed mindset. Only Teachers teaching in fully certified Cambridge schools enjoy the profession. If you want to be in this league, upgrade yourself and leave behind your Nigerian based exams mentality. PS. Don't stay in a shanty school and condemn the teaching profession. There are teachers who are earning like bank mangers or oil workers! Nobody told me - I know.

It all depends on the area.
Don't stay in the following areas: kurudu, jikwe , orozo , kubwa, etc even some places like area 1 too. They pay teacher as little as 30k per month.
Being in town is better, some are paid close to 300k base on their qualifications, but can you afford the accomodation?
Don't seek your job in all these local private schools, they improverish their workers

Tell him to engage in online tutoring. He doesn't need any full time teaching that will waste away his time and sanity. He can make up to 1m monthly if he's very smart and vast with the use of technology.

If at all he would do a full time job, it should be to firstly get established and have a platform. A lot of international students are looking for Maths specialists as private tutors.

I can never advise any young guy to teach in a private sch, and if u must teach there, don't stay long on the job. It's tantamount to time waste. You can't make anything meaningful from there. I'm a perfect example.
I wanted to quit this January, but it's unwise doing so without having anything doing. Moreso, my rent expires next month. I can't sleep. I'm disturbed cos of this. Nobody to help

Your discipline is a lucrative one, most schools in the city centre pay around 250-350k depending on your expertise, qualifications and negotiation power. Those in the suburbs may offer 70-120k.

You can make more money x 2 of your salary with call in or online lessons especially for the kids of the rich in Abuja.

It's difficult to give a specific amount. Schools in the city center pay more compare to schools in the subborb area of the city.

A. Schools in the city center + at least 2 years of
hands-on experience: 100k - 300k
B. Schools in the subborb: 60 - 100k.
