Cyberknight:Does that mean what we have is 'Selectocracy'?. ![]() |

Lazyyouth4u:With the government having smelt this blood, i doubt they will want to reverse this low rates. |
9jatriot:I dey really gbadun this new @Lazyyouth4u. Brilliant and indept analysis from him. I hope he does not change to the old @Lazyyouth4u o. |
maishai:You are even going too far with these. MC Olomo collects a lot of money from NURTW which is not remitted to government coffers. He uses the money to keep his wives in US and educates his kids in US schools. |
Reine22:Not only Loyola Jesuit but all the catholic schools except the minor seminaries. In the catholic boarding schools, during Ramadan, those that want to fast are allowed and special food is prepared for them in the morning and breaking of fast accordingly. |
Lazyyouth4u:Gbam. Well said. |
Diyke4rich:I will advise that you do not immediately relocate back in full yet. You can come in, spend some months and use that period to move around and do research. During this period, you can use it to network with your friends espercially those in business and see the various challenges and how they have conquered such challenges. |
ahiboilandgas:Wa o. I used to go to that football field once in a while in the evenings of weekends to watch football matches. I was retained in where i served but i declined and came back to Lagos. Was scared of religious riots as where i was staying was close to Badawa and i did not understand the language. |
ahiboilandgas:. Do not know. Was not staying opposite. I used the axis as a short cut. |
ahiboilandgas:.cannot remember much but it was on the boundary between Yankaba and Badawa. The major landmark then that i know is that i normally pass a road or street that Tanko Tankasai had his house. It was an all white painted building. |
AngelicBeing:I enjoyed my one year NYSC in Kano. Stayed at Yankaba and served with a firm on Bank road. Nice city before the various riots spoilt it. |
pluto09:. And when asked why they did not vote, they will say their votes will not count not knowing that by not voting, their PVCs can be cloned and used to rig the election. |
ahiboilandgas:In my place, there is a saying 'if you insist on making a fire as long as the snake you want to roast, you will end up cutting down all the trees in the forest thereby destroying the forest'. |
ahiboilandgas:When i check their whatsapp updates these days, they no longer put the clenched fist . Na prayer for peace dem dey put now. I no fit laff. |
emmanuelewumi:When these protests started entering the inner streets, i advised and warned several of the youths that the protests will be hijacked by area boys and hoodlums and it will spiral out of their control and that they should retreat to restratigize. They refused to listen saying they do not need any advise from the older generation. They think their generation is the first in the history of Nigeria to do protests. I have asked people where the Feminist movement that was giving daily reports and Anonymous that was hacking websites upandan gone to?. Even Radio 'Soro Soke' is off the air. |
freeman67:Circle Mall at Jakande, Lekki completely brought down. The workers have completely lost their jobs as i doubt the mall will open again this year. |
DexterousOne:These generation now abusing the older generation of not doing anything think all these were done by them or some alliens came down from Jupiter to do all these?. |
DexterousOne:Cheap shots you mean. They came out to fight oppression. They should focus on that instead of aiming cheap shots. Every generation fights her battles. The independence they are enjoying now was fought for by a generation. The removal of History from schools really caused a problem. Iam sure many of them aiming cheap shots at the older generation do not know the person that moved the motion for independence. Even the democracy being enjoyed now was fought by people. Iam sure you are amazed at the names in that post. Make una focus and leave the older generation alone. Nigeria did not start from una generation. |
#Copied This is from a friend, 65 years old and an alumni of UNILAG. Quite interesting. The following is my reaction to a post my son made on our family platform about the ongoing protests. You may find it interesting: Yes, the protests are largely peaceful, with a few miscreants. But I assure you that the few miscreants are testing grounds. There are more miscreants waiting in the wing. I know cause I've been there before! Contrary to the narratives in circulation, my generation didn't just sit down. Forget about the politicians who want to "off the mic". Many of us didn't "gbenu dake". We "soro-soked" - loud and clear, often putting our lives on the line! We fought all the military regimes. I can't remember how many times I was "tear gassed". We carried our own "anti tear gas" solutions around. There was a time military police stormed UNILAG by air (Helicopter landed at sports centre); by sea (Police boats arrived via the Lagoon); and by land (UNILAG's front gate). The back gate wasn't there yet; it was just a narrow bush path that served as the only route of escape for those at the front line who knew the route. Others were trapped and there were stories of rape, looting, and students being thrown down from second and third floors of Jaja and Mariere halls. We had no phone cameras so we have no proof. As is always the case, we usually started out peacefully but eventually miscreants got involved. We didn't have social media hence the protests couldn't spread as fast, but it was replicated in all the universities. There's an Akintunde Ojo hall in UNILAG - named after a student that was killed in one of the protests. Ask anyone who is 60+ about "Ali must Go". Ask about "No Eddie, no lecture riot", etc. I remember telling you about the day I was embarrassed when my father came to get me off the "battle ground" at the UNILAG gate. Those protests were usually the precursors to the demise of governments in power. In June 1993 when Babangida annulled the election, youths took to the streets, forcing Babangida to step down and scamper out of Lagos to Abuja. They all "soro-soked" When the brutal Abacha took over he was fought till the end. Many people were killed during the period. I have my personal story, but this is not about me. Even MKO Abiola, who was considered as being initially part of the corrupt system laid down his life to fight off the Abacha military regime. The arrow head of the fight against Abacha was National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), with several actors playing different parts. These individuals included Pa Adekunle Ajasin, Pa Adesanya, Anthony Enaharo, Wole Soyinka, Commodore Ebutu Ukiwe, Balarabe Musa, Group Captain Jonah David Jang, Rear Admiral Godwin Ndubuisi Kanu, Shafi Lawal Edu, Ayo Opadokun, and Colonel Yohanna Madaki. Even Senator Bola Tinubu was also very active in the struggle. Today, everyone talks about Fela. But there were several others. There was Gani, the people's SAM (Senior Advocate of the Masses); there was Olisa Agbakoba; there was Beko, etc. Before them, there was Professor Awojobi, there was Tai Solarin, and of course Wole Soyinka was (is) ever present. Go and read Wole Soyinka's "The Man Died". Search for "The Beginning of the End" penned by Tai Solarin. These people were arrested, tortured, and jailed countless times because they led protests. Of course, they didn't act alone. There's a statue of Tai Solarin in Yaba bus stop, one of Awojobi in Onike roundabout, Gani's in Ojota, Herbert Macaulay's in Sabo, and many more. There were still others before these names. Our founding fathers fought the British the best way they could. Do you think the British left Nigeria willingly? Do your research about Pa Imodu (No 1). Do your research about Olufunmilayo Ransom Kuti. Read up on Herbert Macaulay. Of course there was Awolowo, Azikwe, Ahmadu Bello, Enahoro, etc. Before them there was King Jaja of Opobo, and a host of others who were exiled or died fighting the superior military power of the British. In every generation you'll have the good, the bad, and the ugly. Stop the blanket accusation of generations before yours. They've played their parts. Study their histories and find out why the "bad guys" eventually end up controlling the political system despite the heroic exploits of the good guys. Focus on the war - not the battle! #Copied !!!!!!. |
DexterousOne:I know it is rebranding. What was done by him required another strategy to engage and not to change hastag or increase demand. If you study Nigeria system very well, it is always what they do. SARS was disbanded and SWAT formed. Hastag changed from #EndSARS to #EndSWAT. So if SWAT is ended and 'WAT' is formed, hastag then changes to #EndWAT abi?. In as far as there is no limitation to hastags, there will be no change to naming. Is that what you want?. You need to understand that Nigeria Leadership is still not yet fully out of the Military ways of doing things. It is a mentality thing which will take time. |
9jatriot:This was where the protesters missed. It was as if they did not have leaders. After the government disbanded SARS, they started adding to the request on a daily basis. From one request to five to seven to thirteen and now close to twenty. When will it end?. |
ahiboilandgas:Was expected. Edo started it yesterday. Anybody that was thinking that the protesters will be allowed to just block major roads and the government will not do anything was just dreaming. As i said, this generation have not seen real protest before. Na only NLC fuel price hike when dem they dance at Ojota that they have seen and are used to. |
ojesymsym:I do not normally waste time and data to do meaningless online arguments in a faceless forum. Just trying to tell the poster that the cause of the problems of Nigeria is not down to any generation. Every person's great great grand parent could have contributed at any point in time. Gani was always taken to Gashua prison in Bornu state. That is the toughest and worse prison in the country. The poster should go and do a research on Gashua prison that Gani was always been taken to. Iam sure he will come and say the likes of Gani did not do anything just because they are now protesting and putting it on social media. No be today this fight for a better Nigeria start. |
afroxyz:Continue. If una great great grand papa did not sell their people as slaves and handed over the country to colonial masters, you think say dem for colonise us. ![]() |
handsomebolanle:Democratic regime in theory. Rwanda is also in a democratic regime. People there should go and protest and see what Kagame will do. |
9jatriot:Last week on my way back from work in the night, i drove to where the protesters were at Alausa. Free passage and access to where they are camped playing football in the night. i Just laff. I said to myself that this generation are very lucky that we are in civilian regime. Look at how they just exposed themselves to easy pickings. Try such under IBB or Abacha. Maybe they need to go and read about NADECO and people like Kokori and Kudirat Abiola. They formed an online radio called 'Soro Soke' and they are clapping for themselves not knowing that there was NADECO radio during June 12 times. |
ahiboilandgas:Gbam. That is where the youths missed it. They think protests for change is just to gather in one place, play music, dance, eat, sleep, wake up and continue. What were the strategies to counter the hoodlums if the protests get into the inner streets where hoodlums reign supreme?. |
DexterousOne:They are being hysterical because dem never really see protests before. The only protests they have seen is NLC price hike protests. Dem no see protests for June 12 or protest under IBB and Abacha. |
deepwater:You are very funny. You think say na una generation start protests for Nigeria?. Go and find out about protests during the brutal regime of IBB and Abacha. Una never even start. Una dey learn. Your generation is lucky that we are in civilian regime. ![]() |
Grupo:Go and find out from people that were in Uniben in 1989 how it was done. That was during the time of IBB, a mean dictator. This generation dey think say na dem start protest because there are now mobile phones to post it on social media and take selfies. |
