She is a girl. Unimaid is too far. The parents are in Lagos. They were even crictised for wanting to send her to Edo. Maiduguri is a no for them. Too much insecurity to suddenly throw a 16year old girl who has never left Lagos into. The 250k is not an issue.

Any Medical course will be good. If she is 100% sure that its MBBS she wants, any 4 year course would do. (E.g Anatomy, Physiology, etc) But if she's not so sure that it's MBBS she wants, Biko let her go for a 5 year professional medical course instead.(E.g Nursing, Pharmacy, etc)

And yes, she can choose same UNIBEN. There won't be any issue if it's same school.

Hello, NL1960. Your sister's score is quite okay, but sadly, that won't give her medicine.

1. Taking jamb next year will depend on what she really wants though, if she's determined to do medicine, then taking jamb again next year is the best option she has.

2. This is a total NO. It's 99% impossible. You can't switch to medicine in Uniben, except maybe you're the VC's relative or maybe you know someone with a high profile. The profile has to be very very high because I know of someone who tried switching even with the kind of connect he had, it still didn't work. Well, I did too, nothing came out. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm just telling you how it is.

3. On this note, I'll now have to chip in this piece. Let her change her course NOW. When I say NOW, I mean ASAP. Let her change to a professional course, say Radiography before admission starts, if she's fast enough, she'll be given. Instead of her studying the 4yrs course and hoping to come back, let her do something professional, so that in case, the medicine passion dies along the line, she'll have something reasonable to hold on to. There are nice professional courses she can get with her aggregate range, let her do her findings and change NOW. I know someone it worked for. He applied for medicine but his score wasn't up to, he quickly changed to pharmacy and he got in, though he took jamb again. It can work for her too, if only she's fast enough. Admission now is 50% smartness and 50% intelligence.

I will consider all your suggestions. She got 299 in JAMB this year. Uniben PUTME was chaotic on the first day that Medical Students wrote. That was what affected her. Those scheduled for 12:30pm could not write till around 6pm. Some students fainted while waiting with all the sun blazing with no place to sit and had to be taken away by ambulance.

My concern is (3). With the way Nigeria is unstable, I won't advice it at all. Strikes are the order of the day. Medical school is no longer 6 years in most federal universities. It's now a minimum of 7yrs to a standard of 8yrs. 2021 made it 10 years since I started 100L in my first degree and as of now, I'm still in 400L. (Bear it in mind that immediately after my first degree I went for NYSC and immediately after NYSC, I started the MBBS degree). This option (3) should be a LAST LAST option. It should be considered IF and only IF all options have been explored and it's still not working out. It is a HUGE & UNNECESSARY waste of time if there are other options.

If money isn't an issue, I'll advice that she accepts whatever medical course she gets, instead of sitting at home. Then try switching in 200L and try another JAMB next year.

Alternatively, she could try the A'Level route (IJMB) if UNIBEN has something like that. Here, if she gets a particular cut off point, she'll get direct entry admission into 200L MBBS class.

. Did not look at this or JUPEB as it seems it is always to difficult to get to 200Lvl through A/L or JUPEB .

Please i need some advise here. I have a 16year old relation who got 65 aggregate for Uniben Medicine. She is from Edo.

Iam looking at some options for her.

(1) Retake JAMB next year.

(2) Take any 4year science course and try to switch to Medicine in 200Lvl. What 4year science will be appropriate for this?.

(3) If (2) is not possible, complete the 4year course and use it to gain entry to 200Lvl Medicine.

Please urgent replies are needed as she has been crying as the PUTME result was a great shock. There was total chaos in Uniben PUTME this year especially for those that wrote on the first day. Some students even fainted.

The bellow picture is FCMB giving a return of 200+%

Not really easy to be patient with stocks especially when you see the returns on MMF. Was patient on FCMB for 5years. It is just when the new government came in that it started to move and got to N6. I sold on Friday and will be moving the funds to MMF.

The same thing happened to First Bank. Was between N7-N9 for many years before it started moving after the new government came in. It is now at N18. Will just watch it for few more weeks before determining to sell and move the funds to MMF.

More than madness. I cannot have N50m and then give it to US or UK or Canada in the name of japa. Of recent, i have been seeing so many japa adverts for work as farm help in rural areas of Canada. Imagine spending N50m to be a farm help in -40degrees.

An update on this issue.

The mechanic checked it and did some fixes but said that it is not a long lasting solution as the radiator is now weak and will need to be replaced. I have been using coolant since then and regularly top the coolant.

The Toyota Corolla was bought brand new in 2007 and the radiator has never be replaced since then.

Anybody with an idea of the cost of replacing a radiator?.

That's wrong the actual cause of the overheating should be investigated, the fan should not be the reason.. connecting fan direct is not ideal for your car cooling system

I hope the fan was not "fixed" by connecting it direct whereby it always blow everytime you turn on the ignition....

This was done. Initially, the fan only triggers automatically but now, when i turn on the ignition, the fan blows. My AC is bad for now. So do not know if that was why the rewire did it that way.

There's a leakage somewhere which is why the water in the radiator is drying up. You can start by checking your radiator cap, make sure it's closed properly or the inner rubber is weak which might cause a leakage before checking or parts of the cooling system to avoid unnecessary spending.
The cooling system of the engine is a closed system with very high pressure when it's hot & any tiny space or hole will lead loss of liquid also stop using water to avoid rust, use a good coolant.

The radiator cap was changed by the mechanic when he noticed that it was bad. I will switch to coolat instead of water.

The car was initially overheating. It was then i discovered that the radiator was leaking at the side and the fan was not working. Both were fixed and the issue stopped. It is occurring again. I will tell the mechanic to check what you have said. Thanks once again.

They compliment each other, metal cap should be totally filled with coolant, the plastic should be half filled with coolant, both well locked.

The mechanic that work on the car when there was a leakage on the radiator told me that i should put water to half level of the plastic and also put water on the metal cap and that once the water in the metal cap drains, it will take from the plastic to top it but i noticed that the top up is not being done. The plastic is still full while the metal cap dries up.

It's standard world over for management fee to cover the total amount managed (i.e the interest and principal). What is different is the fee percentage for some funds fees are cheaper than others.

In an ideal world 1.5% fees is too high, especially if you are high net worth. The alternative you have is to find a cheaper manager, invest in passively managed index fund or manage your fund yourself.

They take 1.5% of your principal and accrued interest every year. If your portfolio is up, you should notice, but if you have stock based funds their are time when their fees may mop up some of your principal. The percentage interest shown, for MMF, is effective yield after factoring in management fees.
