Former first lady Melania Trump spoke out about her pro-abortion views in a short clip promoting her upcoming memoir, saying “there is no room for compromise” on the issue of women being allowed to abort their unborn children.
Melania said she has “carried” her pro-abortion views “throughout [her] entire adult life,” a break from her husband’s pro-life record while he was in office. Her remarks on abortion come less than five weeks before the 2024 election as Democrats are focusing on the issue to motivate their base.
Paragraphs of Melania’s memoir published by The Guardian on Wednesday go into more detail on her support for abortion.
“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes,” Melania writes, adding, “Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life.”
Melania is not the only first lady to disagree with her Republican husband’s views on abortion. Daily Wire host Michael Knowles pointed out on social media, “It is a sad, strange fact of history that, for as long as abortion has been a major public issue, every Republican FLOTUS has supported it.”
Former President George W. Bush’s wife Laura said in 2010 that she supported Roe v. Wade remaining the law in the U.S., and during George H.W. Bush’s four years in office, former first lady Barbara Bush answered “yes,” when she was asked if she is “pro-choice.” Nancy Reagan said she’s “somewhere in the middle” on the issue of abortion.
“I don’t believe in abortion, but on the other hand, I believe in a woman’s choice, so it puts me somewhere in the middle, but I don’t know what you call that,” she said.
In her book, Melania writes about disagreements between her and her husband, including on some aspects of immigration policy, The Guardian reported. She writes that “occasional political disagreements between me and my husband” are “part of our relationship, but I believed in addressing them privately rather than publicly challenging him.”

A tragic incident occurred on Friday in the villages of Jika and Kolo, located in the Kidandan area of Giwa Local Government, Kaduna State, when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrike mistakenly claimed the lives of several civilians. Local sources reported that among the victims were 23 worshippers in a mosque, along with others in a nearby market.
NAF, however, stated that the strike was aimed at a terrorist camp and was not intended to target innocent civilians. The incident, initially reported by Daily Trust, was later confirmed to me today by a trusted source in Kaduna State who verified the details of the tragedy.
NAF Investigates Airstrikes That Killed Innocent Civilians At Giwa LGA, Kaduna
The Nigerian Air Force says it has commenced investigation into alleged bombing of innocent civilians in Jika da Kolo community at Yadin Kidandan, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The community had alleged that a NAF aircraft mistakenly bombed the community, resulting in the death of over 25 people.
However a statement by the Deputy Director Public Relations and information, Group Captain kabiru Ali says a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to ascertain the facts with a view to keeping the populace informed in due course
The statement adds that The airstrike on the location was based on credible intelligence from numerous reliable sources, as well as confirmatory surveillance of the target area before the strike and that the said location has been notorious as a terrorist enclave for over 2 years and the successful airstrike would no doubt go a long way in minimizing banditry, kidnapping and similar attacks on innocent civilians in Kaduna State and environs.
Nevertheless, the NAF said it is not taking these allegations lightly, as its focus is to always achieve the desired operational objective without collateral damage.
WASHINGTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is the Republican presidential candidate, said on Friday he will seek the prosecution of Google, opens new tab if he wins the Nov. 5 election, claiming that the company only displays "bad stories" about him.
Trump, in his post on Truth Social, gave no evidence for his assertion about Google.

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Trump made a similar claim about Google in 2019, according to the Washington Post. He alleged in a series of posts on social media that Google favored negative news stories about him in the 2016 presidential election, according to the Post. Google dismissed the claims at the time.
Popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has denied a bribery allegation levelled against him by a social media influencer, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
In a viral audio released by VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky alleged that some unnamed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission operatives collected N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges against him.
Reacting to the viral audio in a statement on Tuesday, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, said the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
However, in an Instagram post on Wednesday morning, Bobrisky denied bribing any EFCC officer to drop money laundering charges against him, saying that he served his jail term.
The controversial social media sensation also described the viral voice recording as fake, stressing that the claim that he was never in prison was false and should be ignored.
He wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.”

Four-time major champion Naomi Osaka said on Wednesday she “didn’t want to have regrets” after confirming she has teamed up with Serena Williams’ renowned former coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
Former world number one Osaka, now ranked 73, defeated Lucia Bronzetti of Italy 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the WTA 1000 China Open with the Frenchman Mouratoglou in her players’ box.
The 26-year-old Osaka split from Belgian coach Wim Fissette this month as she attempts to return to the form that propelled her to the top of the women’s game.
Japan’s Osaka said she “felt like I needed a change” and described Mouratoglou, who is best known as Williams’ long-time former coach, as “a big persona”.
“I like the way he coaches. I think it’s going to be really interesting,” she said in Beijing after setting up a second-round meeting with 21st seed Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says N1.4 trillion will be distributed in the next three months to aid cash flow within the banking system.
Olayemi Cardoso, CBN governor, spoke on Tuesday during a press conference in Abuja.
Speaking on the issue of cash insufficiency in most bank’s automated teller machine (ATM), Cardoso said the apex bank is working closely to ensure that there is sufficient cash in the system.
According to the CBN governor, banks do not have any excuse not to dispense cash.
“Another N1.4 trillion is likely to be delivered in another three months to aid that whole process of cash within the system,” he said.
“So from our perspective, we are doing everything possible to ensure that there is sufficient cash in the system. There is no excuse for not having sufficient cash in the system.
“Now it goes to the deployment of that cash and quite frankly, we are working very, very closely, we are engaging with all the deposit money banks to ensure that they are putting these things through their ATMs, effectively dispensing cash to those that are in need.
“And whether they are in need or not, that’s the function of the deposit money banks. And at all points in time, there should be sufficient cash in their system that nobody should go there without being able to withdraw.”
CBN TO SANCTION BANKS NOT DISPENSING CASH
Cardoso said a monitoring system has been put in place to check the services of the banks.
He added that there will be sanctions if any bank fail to dispense cash.
“We ourselves, have devised a monitoring system, a spot-checking system, whereby we will go to the banks and just ensure that these things are done in the way and manner in which they are meant to be done,” he said.
“And if they are not, again, there will be sanctions but I believe that at the stage we are in now, everybody realises that stakeholders play their part in ensuring that cash gets to the desired places they are intended to be.”
Late last year, there were cases of cash scarcity.
On November 2, 2023, the apex bank said the scarcity experienced in some locations was due to a high volume of withdrawals from its branches by banks and panic withdrawals by customers from ATMs.
The CBN also said there was sufficient stock of currency notes for economic activities in Nigeria and assured its branches across the country were working to ensure seamless cash circulation in their respective states of operation.
Blocking someone on Twitter/X won’t be as absolute as it used to be.
Elon Musk, in a post on the social network, announced upcoming changes to the block functionality, saying, “The block function will block that account from engaging with, but not block seeing, public post.”
Previously, when users blocked a user or account, it prevented that party from not only replying to tweets or mentioning the user, but from seeing what they were posting in the first place.
Musk has never been a big fan of the block button. Last year, he said the feature “makes no sense” and needed to be “depreciated in favor of a stronger form of mute.” At one point, he also threatened to do away with blocking users entirely, except in direct messages.
Part of Musk’s criticism of the feature was that blocking a particular user from following you and seeing your tweets wasn’t effective, since the person could simply create an anonymous account to view your tweets. (Of course, that same method would allow trolls and spammers to post on people’s accounts with the changes to the block policy.)
Opening a separate account to follow someone who has blocked you takes some effort, though. And for most people, who have relied on the blocking function to filter harassment, just blocking a user has been sufficient.
What’s unclear is whether the changes Musk is now discussing fall in line with Apple’s App Store guidelines, which mandate social networks offer “the ability to block abusive users from the service.”
The changes to the block functionality are just the latest in a long line of tweaks Musk has overseen at the company. Others include preventing users from seeing who liked their posts. The blue check mark, which used to verify a user’s identity as authentic, has become a badge for paying users—and, of course, there was a name and logo change for the company.
