Jobs/VacanciesRe: An Open Letter To Nigerian Recruiters by nmreports:
Hahahahahaha.
Nigerian recruiters are terrible.

You invite someone for interview and then you ask him to come again and again and again without any excuses nor apology.
You invite someone for a test and then on the set date you say the role has been filled without prior communication.
You invite someone for interview and the candidate came in drenched because of rain yet you sent him out of the office.
You invite a million candidates for aptitude test yet you do not have the capacity to accommodation them because these candidates are goats.

I mean it is so terrible that labor laws in this country is totally non existent. Blacks generally are somewhat terrible people and we need a regeneration of mindset.

So i really do not know if this is the appropriate place to do this, but none the less i would try.
I boarded a bus from sandfill to obalende on 4/11/16 and met a pretty, chocolate skinned, tall lady, interesting personality was really impressed by her.
Sadly we couldn't get to talk much was an inappropriate environment but was able to get a contact an 0905 number, however my phone was stolen not too long after i alighted from the bus and i wasn't able to save the number before my phone was nicked.
I am hoping shes a Nairalander and would probably get to see this, please if you get to see this kindly PM me. Hoping i am able to contact her through this medium.
Mods pls kindly help me do the needful. Thanks
Awwwww you must really like this girl.
Happens to us sometimes.
I pray you find her.

If she looked like she was coming from work, you can go back around where you boarded the bus at exact time. You might just be lucky.

I also spent the whole of yesterday trying to activate Google tag manager and Google sitemap but it was hard.
Also want to verify with the other verification methods but it's such a herculean task.

Uhmmm. Lots my brother.
Last month, I got interviewed for a teaching position, a member of the panel whom I presumed to have been consulted was just asking me software and website development related questions. Technical ones o. It got to a stage I wanted to ask how those questions relate with the position I applied for.

At another interview, before the interview commenced, we were made to wait outside in the scorching sun. Then it began to rain, thought they would ask us in, for where? We had to stand in the corridor of a building nearby. In that condition, I swore I was not gonna work there even if they offered me the job.
When the interview started, none of the panelists apologised. The so called Hr was just cutting into mine and the others conversation.

I must add this, just last week, I had another interview, oh! it was wonderful. The panellists were well mannered and respectful. All applicants were even served snacks before being served lunch.
Those are very sad experiences. Sorry about it but you see what I was talking about. Those guys should not call themselves HR professionals.
Hope you get the job for this recent one. All the best.

BeautyBaebee:
I don't know how to start buh lemme start anywhere sha.
Am 19 years old, a virgin. I started dating @ d age of 17. I left my first BF cos of sex issues.
I decided to stay single until am ready for sex buh I met anoda guy last year around August, he asked me out, i fell in love with him n we started dating. all through our relationship, we did every thing except sex. He doesn't complain actually lyk dat, he told me he loves me not becos of Sex, he can b patient with me till am ready.
So yesterday, I went to his place n after a while, he asked me "How long are we going to continue lyk this" (talking abt romance without sex). He told me all sort of things ranging from how much he loves me to how he might cheat on me n look elsewhere if I continue treating him lyk dis since "he sef b human being". I actually broke up yesterday cos of dat statement cos I cnt share my Man with anybody. Buh he later begged n said it was a joke, even @dat, I still broke up.
Seriously, I understand him, I feel for him, I would love to give him my virginity buh am scared of Sex. am circumcised n scared I won't enjoy it n he won't enjoy me too. I don't want to b used n dumped. (truth is, I don't always enjoy pre-intimacy, most times, I fake my Moans anytime we did it cos I don't want him to feel less of a man or see me as a stick)
Now,
Since yesterday, I cnt stop thinking abh him.
I love dis guy soo much n he has become a part of me. Dunno if I should just let him go or call him n tell him am sorry.
I always come here as a guest buh today, I joined dis forum cos of this issue.
Plz nairalanders, wat do u advise I dohuh
I honestly appreciate your sanity and right thinking.
I totally understand the circumcision part too.
I have dated someone like that and I tell you this guy would bounce too because I'm guessing he is young.

While you think your circumcision can be a problem, remember love conquers.
Wait till you are married but try to marry early too if you can. Endeavor to tell the man you want to marry about it.

Trust me I have first hand experience and I don't want you to get to a point where this thing becomes a huge mental and sexual problem for you.

Bad news everywhere.
It is pitiable what we are going through as a nation.

While it is possible that we will come out of this recession, the damage has been done already and economic revival usually takes years for what was destroyed in months.

See how long it took someone like Obama who was passionate about America to get them out of recession.

Don't be deceived when they say Nigeria would be better next year or in December or whatsoever. If this would be true, then it means, Nigeria will start taking steps to being better next year or in December.

Brace up people. Stay focused, stay passionate, work hard and feed your family. God help us.
Jobs/VacanciesMonster HR Personnels; A Nightmare For Job Seekers. Share Your Experience by nmreports(op):
The trend where HR personnel ask ridiculously strange questions that is totally unrelated to the job and where sometimes they become so insulting to job seekers is fast becoming a common experience at most interviews in recent times. This monster HR posing as professionals are a nightmare to job seekers.

Here http://www.hrtechnique.com/2016/10/building-career-in-human-resources.html we discussed why passion is the primary requirement to becoming a HR professional without which your survival in the industry would be untimely. The contamination of this profession is basically a result of poorly trained people in the industry or people with just the wrong personalty who have found themselves on the job.
Sometimes, in fact all of the time, HR personnel should be made to go through personalty test by the body that has certified them for practice.

A situation where you are asked "What happened to your last relationship" or "If you drink alcohol" where your alcohol consumption has nothing to do with the nature of the prospective job.

In Nigeria for example, I have personally been sent out of the interview room by a supposedly experienced HR consultant who also doubles as a CEO because I refused to answer a particular personal question. I had politely told him it was personal but he barked at me to leave his office. Surprise!!!.

A situation where after going through stages of interviews you are being asked "Are you sure you want this job?" Common!!!.

To put this into perspective, I will cull from a letter someone sent to us. Its a pity that such a thing happens in this industry. Find below:

Seriously annoying, first I passed their aptitude test, then day 2 about 15 people sat to interview me.
Day 3, just 4 interviewed me. On day 4, I was told to come and meet with the HR director and the director started asking THE FOLLOWING.
He asked if I wrote the aptitude test myself and I said yes then he started asking me each question both verbal and mathematics for me to answer them verbally.
As if it wasn't enough, he asked of my background, parents, siblings, what can i say of my school?.
He asked what church I attend, do I hate Muslims... Where was my earring, why am I on natural hair.
I almost allowed my anger to betray me. He now said can I pay bribe on behalf of the company.
Can i go clubbing with staff members. If I do will i take alcohol? Am I married or engaged.
He asked where I stay, then he got angry when I said I was staying alone as a lady, that it's a stupid decision.
At the end of all the questions, I was not offered the job
The profession makes no one superior than a job seeker. It is an opportunity to do three basic things in my opinion:

1) To empower an organization through the use of the man power planning process.
2) To impact lives and leave candidates better than they came even if they are not a best fit.
3) To do 1 and 2 without bias, without being insolent and without being judgmental.

While we recognize that the responsibilities of human resources is not encapsulated in the list above, our passion for human development and capacity should be at the forefront of our activities.

Next time we are at an interview, please HR, the following should guide our activities.

a) Shortlist candidates that you would have productive time with in other to recognize real talent and skill for the needed job. One of the ways to do this is to use phone interviews to reduce the pool of candidates. Job seekers can Find Here some tips to help in their phone interviews.
b) Ask qualitative questions that are relevant to the job. Questions that probe the job seekers work history and values rather than be asking if he masturbates.
Some of the almighty questions that are basic yet efficient are;
i. "Why should we hire you?".
ii. "What values do you see yourself adding to the organization if you are employed?".
iii. "What kind of person can you not work with?". This helps to probe into the candidates team-work spirit.
Other relevant intelligent and brilliant questions that could determine speed and the ability to think on their feet.
c) Take few seconds or minute to give feedback on your perception about their resumes or application. Tell them your perspective about it and some of the things that could be corrected for future use.
d) Sometimes we are unable to share information about a recruitment ramification, but at the end of the selection, if you are opportune to meet with some of the candidates, you could share with them not so sensitive information about what went wrong and some of the things that if they had done better could have earned them a place in the organization.

The HR profession is a life saving one. Save a job seeker.

A phone interview requires you to be able to think on your feet.I was asked some questions that I had to provide answers to on the spot.I was asked about my career goal, you know how hard that can be because I needed to make it align with what the calling firm does to show we are on same page.Had to come up with something quickly to prove that. Also, you need to be confident and interactive, since you aren't seeing the interview, it could be an advantage also as no meanings would be read into your body language.I hope this is helpful.
Nice tips. Appreciate.

truth is I wasn't totally caught unawares, the only thing is that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I just closed from work and went to market. Bottom line is; be prepared all the time, as my colleague normally tell me, he said why are u always talking to your self and demonstrating, nigger didn't know I was rehearsing!! I simply told him that I was expecting an interview soon.
Secondly, if u aren't a good actor u may not do well in a phone interview. Like the post said, you can smile in a phone interview and the other person will feel it from ur next words. I was almost nervous then I remembered I needed d job. The moment I brazened up the main boss stepped in and got more interested. He literally asked d rest of the questions.
Finally, use good dictions, and don't ever think it's a goddamn casual call Cuz I was tempted to laugh at some point but I managed a chuckle. When I realized I messed up, I just changed my diction, voice and grammar..... I got everyone around d table interested.
I must confess you just got me hooked too.
I guess you transmit charm through your words and writing.
Very well said anyway. Thanks.

Jobs/VacanciesSeven Simple Tips To Guide You Through A Phone Interview by nmreports(op):
We hope you find it useful. Knowledge is power.

It is no longer news that employers are increasingly conducting phone interviews and sometimes Skype interviews in other to reduce the number of candidates they invite over for face-to-face interviews.

Sometimes they do this so as to reduce the cost of conducting interviews for a large pool of candidates as well as to reduce productive time on interviewing candidates that may eventually not be suitable for the job.

Sometimes, its because the interviewer is not available yet want to move forward with the recruitment process.

Some of the reasons for using phone interviews is usually to ascertain the following:

1) How confident the candidate is.
2) Your diction and English language prowess.
3) Your suitability and interest.
4) Your confidence level.
5) The way you conduct your manners over the phone.
6) The qualifications they have in your name.
7) How smart or apt you are to respond to calls unawares.

From that HR call that is simply asking "if you would be available for an interview" to the more complicated ones where the content of our answers are screened or where how we sound is scrutinized, HR personnel could determine if you would be invited over to the organization.

When too many people who are qualified for the same job applies, phone interviews are usually employed to determine how you would probably fit into the job. The following tips will help you:

1) Never sound bored, tired or yawn on the phone. In other to avoid this, once you receive a call from a HR official, simply ask the person to allow you move to a more cool and quiet area. This would work wherever you are and will give you the little time you need to get yourself together. Cut out all distractions.

2) Ensure that you are prepared if you are expecting the call or sometimes when you see a strange number. It helps when you show courtesy to every or anyone who call you.

3) Sound confident on the phone. I read somewhere that you could do as if you are a speaker on a stage and you are much more engaged with your audience. To build your confidence on the spot, act it, breathe and speak calmly and gently.

It is also believed that you standing is the best way to pull this through. Have materials in front of you (bullet points) that would aid your responses. So its important that you research any company you have applied to and have the information readily available.

4) Always say things like you mean it. When you mean something, it can be perceived. Employers are interested in candidates that know what they know and are confident about it.

5) This last step is the only one thing that is universal and it is the power of a smile. The power of a simple smile is irresistible.
This will help you feel relaxed and help you sound confident. Smiles can be heard even when you are not seen so sound excited, healthy and interested.

6) Take it as seriously like you would have a face to face interviews.

7) Listen and dont dominate the conversation. This is an interview which means they’re going to be asking you questions, but it’s also an opportunity to show your potential employer that you’re good at listening too. A good listener who can make a great conversation.

Add to this material to help others or ask questions.
