Gov. Hope Uzodimma is shouldering the Burden of Recklessness from Past Administrations It is easy to argue that a new Government inherits assets and liabilities. While we accept that government is a continuum, by no means should any responsible administration accept without any form of recourse or examination the reckless actions deliberately done by previous administrations especially that of Rochas Okorocha that was characterized by serial abuse of power and zero Respect for court rulings. The ensuing imbroglio in the state between Independent Petroleum marketers and the state government is another of the myriad problems created by Okorocha for the Imo State Government, and as at today, Imolites are bearing the brunt. This is wickedness and when we condemn the person of Okorocha and the style of his administration, it is from a broken heart. Before you rush to condemn Gov. Hope Uzodimma and his administration probably from what you think, as not taking prompt action, it is expedient that we understand that there was no proper handover between the Ihedioha administration and that of Gov. Hope Uzodimma of which we know that such issues like this should have been tabled and if Imolites could align with Ihedioha on his claim that Okorocha did not handover anything to him then it is obvious that Gov. Hope Uzodimma did not catch the wind of this issue, at all. Only recently, Gov. Hope Uzodimma had to appeal the judgement on the matter. Hence, both parties- State Government and Independent Petroleum marketers should as law abiding bodies allow the law to take its cause. The sincerity of the State Government to stand by the ruling of the Appeal court, when it comes, is not in doubt, but it remains surprising why marketers could overnight take up the garb of judges to sit on own case through their action of shutting down filling stations in the state. An action that should be condemned by men of goodwill. It has become clear why independent petroleum marketers in the state have decided to politicize the situation and to hold the state to ransom but as a responsible government, the 3R administration has rather resolved to continue to use every diplomatic and legal approach to call them to order as we are first, Imolites before our membership of any political party and because we understand the untold hardship their actions have brought upon imolites This is time for Imolites to give the government all the needed support to overcome any and every attempt to cause chaos in Imo State. Together we shall RECOVER Imo State! Ezeafurukwe Paul Ihunanya DG New Media #3r_masquerade

THE IMO STATE CHAPTER OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) CONDUCTS A SUCCESSFUL WARD CONGRESS Today, the Imo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted a successful ward Congress across the state. In a widely participated exercise by party faithfuls, the atmosphere was very peaceful as everyone conducted themselves in an orderly manner devoid of the outcome. Independent reports from various wards indicated an early turn out of party members to their various congress centers. The ward Congress of the APC which held across the nation would produce ward Executives of the party and delegates to the LGA Congress. In what turned out to be efforts in futility, the former Governor Rochas Okorocha had approach an FCT High Court through a proxy, seeking for an interim injunction to the Congress in Imo State however, the Hon. Justice denied the motion which gave the Imo State Chapter of the party a clearance to continue with the Congress. Having been conducted and concluded, the party has set in motion, process and system for the progress of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections in the country. #HopeNewAndElectronicMediaCenter

TAKING POWER BACK TO THE PEOPLE THROUGH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT WOULD BE MY GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT ~DEVELOPMENT CENTERS IN ALL THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT WILL BE REVIVED TO MAKE THE PEOPLE FEEL THE IMPACT OF GOVERNMENT ~ GOV HOPE UZODINMA Gov. Hope Uzodimma has reiterated the commitment of his administration to bring Government closer to the ordinary people. In a well attended third edition of Imo stakeholders meeting held yesterday in Owerri, Gov. Uzodimma assured that development centers across the 27 Local Government Area councils of Imo State would be revived so as to make the people feel the impact of Government. Gov. Uzodimma expressed regret that economic activities are centered only in urban areas thereby, turning a greater number of stakeholders in the rural communities into marginal players. According Gov. Hope Uzodimma, realization of the need to turn the Local Government into the engine room of integrative development initiative, informed the decision of his administration to revive development centers across the State. Gov. Uzodimma further disclosed that development centers would operate in line with their nomenclature, working together with autonomous communities and identifying their peculiar development needs. "This would create a sense of belonging and the people would begin to feel the impact of Government in real sense, I made it clear during the Local Government stakeholders' visits to Government House recently that henceforth, the people would determine who leads them into the local government administration based on popular will and acceptance". To this end, taking power back to the people would be my greatest achievement , Gov. Uzodimma assures. #ImoStakeholdersMeeting #HopeNewAndElectronicMediaCenter.

GOV. HOPE UZODIMMA APPRECIATES IMOLITES, RELIGIOUS AND CIVIL SOCIETY GROUPS FOR STANDING WITH THE GOVERNMENT IN THE FACE OF SECURITY CRISIS IN THE STATE One thing that makes a leader outstanding is the show of appreciation no matter the circumstance and how little the services must have been. Gov. Hope Uzodimma like every other grateful individual has again extended his warmth and sincere appreciation to Imolites, religious and civil organizations as well as security agencies for their support and encouragement during the security crisis in the State. This is to show that the administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma is divine and one that appeals to all and sundry. Hence, the show of solidarity in a time when the opposition could *have* had their field day but Imolites and other groups in the State proved that they are with the Sate Government all the way. Such show of concern is uncommon and can only be enjoyed by an administration that is well accepted by the people and this is why Gov. Hope Uzodimma could not hide his appreciation during the Imo Stakeholders meeting in Owerri, where he used the opportunity to make bare his mind and say thank you to Imolites. It is of utmost importance to note that Imolites exhibited high sense of maturity and understanding during the security crisis which formed the basis of *Government's efforts in tackling* the situation rather than *being* manipulated to condemn and distract the Government as desired by the opposition. In his words, Gov. Hope Uzodimma said”...Many of you courageously came out to condemn the mindless brigandage, *I* thank you.” The security personnel were not left out as the Governor attributes the peace enjoyed in Imo State to the supreme sacrifice made by the security operatives and extolled their gallantry approach towards the situation. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has been commended for the laudable prayer session it organized for peace in the state and this brought together *Imolites* as they cried to God in one accord and *today,* we are enjoying the answered prayers. It is very obvious that Gov. Hope Uzodimma is a man who appreciates the efforts of others and understands the need for the people to become part of his administration as no man has ever succeeded in doing things alone including governance. #ImoStakeholdersMeeting #HopeNewAndElectronicMediaCenter

IMO APC OFFLOADS ROCHAS OKOROCHA Several indications so far has shown that any moment from now, the Senator representing Imo West and the former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha will be pitching his tent with the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. This is coming after so many attempts by Okorocha to disintegrate the APC over his selfish and inordinate quest for more power. Okorocha since his failed attempt to foist his son in-law on the party and Imolites in the last general election resulted to activities that can be likened to anti-party which is punishable within the purview of the APC rules and regulations. Back to his state, Imo State, Okorocha was hell bent on hijacking the party structure of which he claims to be the party leader as against the incumbent Governor who has on several occasions extended the olive branch to him. It is now obvious that the banana peels which Okorocha littered in the APC is beginning to drag his legs to the mud as every attempt by him to dislodge the state Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Imo APC and by extension the national party has boomeranged thereby placing him as a big enemy to the party both in the state and at the national level. Okorocha in the morning will run to the APC NWC appealing in a like manner of a person begging for attention and acceptance and at night like Nicodemus of the Bible will sneak out to join forces with those that wants to pull down the APC administration in Imo State just to fulfill his demonic desires. Rochas Okorocha is like the man in the Igbo proverb who does not know where the rain began to beat him and so cannot say where he dried his body. This is a clear assertion that even in the PDP he cannot have it all, in fact this unholy marriage can be best described as Okorocha meeting his “match”, to the APC, it is a good riddance to bad rubbish!. Congratulations are in order for the opposition PDP as it is another reunion and official bonding of two blocs that has sponsored and supported chaos in the state just to make it ungovernable for Gov. Hope Uzodimma and as hard as they try, so will they come crashing and crumbling. A breath of fresh air, peace, order and everything that makes the Imo APC worthwhile is back by this exit and the party will continue to stand tall as a beacon of democracy and will always provide people oriented governance through its leadership styles and achievements in all the levels of governance. SITUATING GOVERNOR UZODIMMA'S INTERFACE WITH LGA STAKEHOLDERS By: Hon. Sam Osuji (KSM) By all streaks and strokes, Gov Hope Uzodinma’s interface with LGA stakeholders in Imo is timely. The governor has shown rare political sagacity befitting of leaders in his mold. He has thus shown that gone are the days of yore when Douglas House acted the script of totalitarianism in a democratic set-up. The stakeholders’ meeting may have taken the Imo opposition by surprise, pulling a string of crude envy especially with the resounding success that has defined the meeting. Make no mistake about it; the parley with LG stakeholders is a noble idea of Dist. Sen Hope Uzodinma to further feel the pulse of the people. This comes at a time when most governors have already been given the tag of despots because their actions are in complete variance with the aspirations of their people. But here we have a governor in Imo who patiently listens to the people and desires so as to give them a land of their dream. The turnout of the stakeholders’ meeting which one can safely term a town-hall meeting with the governor was a fruitful outing in all fronts. First, it was well attended by the leaders of thought in the respective LGAs alongside the rank and file of the people. Second, it was a summit that had citizens across political divides. At first, ignorant opposition buccaneers had termed it an APC affair when they know full well that the development of the state is for the good of everyone irrespective of party affiliation. And Gov Uzodinma, being the People’s leader will never go the primordial way of denying an area of infrastructural endowments simply because it is not a stronghold of the APC. It was therefore heart-warming to see persons of great influence in the state lead their various local governments to see the leader of the state. There was Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the inimitable and illustrious son of Imo State, who was at the forefront of the Ikeduru LGA delegation. Chief Iwuanyanwu, an elder statesman has unfortunately been at the receiving end of a vicious attack by some uninformed party men who do not understand the dynamics of politics. There were a former governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, a former deputy governor, Engr Ebere Udeagu, a former two Senator, Chief (Mrs) Chris Anyanwu, Chief Ozichukwu Chukwu, Barr Eze Duruiheoma and Chief Chibuike Achigbu, to mention a few. Development is at the epicenter of politics. This is one fact that any frail-hearted opposition may never realize. So when people across party lines embrace the political leader of the state and his noble policies, they do so because it is the right thing to do. And by getting integrated they will be able to voice out measured reservations to the chief executive where necessary. But when politics turns dirty and bitter, the imperatives of development are undermined and/or underplayed. Essentially, the governor should also be profoundly commended for providing a good playing ground for all interest to be factored in the stakeholders meeting. In the past, such an act of magnanimity would have rarely been the case. To be sure, Dist. Sen Hope Uzodinma is steadily redefining politics in Imo. For goodness sake, there can never be, say, an APC road used only by APC members in Imo or an APC water project utilized by only its men. Whatever infrastructural legacies Dist. Sen Hope Uzodima is establishing serves all Imolites. For once, Imo has got it right in the choice of Dist. Sen Hope Uzodinma. Here is a governor that has no interest in the real estate. Remarkably, he has severally declared publicly that he has not come to loot the patrimony of the state. This is indeed a governor who has come to enlarge the coasts of his business investments. He is contented, and believes in the act and art of Providence to bless his path. After all, only God can show mercy to whomever He wants. With Gov Uzodinma, therefore, everyone should be rest assured that the story of Imo can only get better. The Imo LGA town-hall meetings have come and gone. But its echoes of reason persist. A lot requests were made. A lot of paths were found and founded. Indeed a lot of ideas were presented and perfected. Characteristically, the governor being himself a very knowledgeable man made vital inputs, analysis and of course promissory interventions. Now, it behooves us all to have confidence that this governor, this leader will meticulously implement to the letter the vital and most timely issues raised. All in all, we should expect a 2022 budget that is driven by an aggressive rural infrastructural transformation. Dist. Sen Hope Uzodinma indeed means business. Of course, he has said now and again that governance is a serious business. It is not a tea party where some people think they will come to enjoy and thereafter loot the state dry to establish and perpetuate a filthy dynasty. May God bless our governor; may God bless our State. And may the Shared Prosperity policy prevail! #HopeNewAndElectronicMediaCenter

OPPOSITION PARTIES COLLAPSE TO UZODINMA TO MAKE IMO A MODEL STATE IN THE SOUTH-EAST While His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State has continued to bring good governance and upgrade of Imo state to an enviable height amongst the states in the South-East zone, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Action Alliance (AA) party counterparts have concluded serious plans to decamp fully in their numbers to APC to give support to the sincerity, simplicity and solidity in the administration of GOVERNOR Uzodinma. This came as a wake-up call while briefing Newsmen on Sunday afternoon in an undisclosed hotel in Owerri, the capital city of Imo state Nigeria. Recall that groups of Politicians and people of different political linings across the three zones of Imo state have continued to identify with GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma while stating that his all-inclusive leadership pattern will surpass the previous administrations of both former Governors Rochas Okorocha and that of the few months leadership of Emeka IHEDIOHA with his 3R policies of the sincerity of purpose and doggedness in giving Imo the best and long-lasting infrastructural developments in the state. Our correspondent reports that the OPPOSITIONISTS are now jostling around the government house to seek the face of governor Uzodinma and broker for peace and political relevance in APC Imo State. However, our reporter confirmed that there is nothing like the Rescue Mission APC anymore since their Stakeholders and group leaders have decided to join hands with GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma to make the state more better than they had left it then. These groups of Politicians and their grassroots have sworn total solidarity to support the Government of Hope Uzodinma. This was also exemplified by the large turn out of party lovers who trooped en-masse to appreciate governor Uzodinma on his open arms given to Imolites in his policy implementation and the approval of the PRINCE OF OIL KINGDOM, PRINCE HENRY OKAFOR as his Special Adviser on Maritime Transportation, Waterways Security and Harbour Matters and others. The appointment came as a product of a creative idea contrary to the diversionary views held by ignorant OPPOSITIONS who may have seen the creation of the office cum appointment as political – an erroneous impression that will later metamorphose into a success story. This feat has been greeted with so much admiration and commendation across the political party lines who confirmed it as a good way to leadership. Another sparkling package that captivated the sights and imaginations of the OPPOSITION political parties to join GOVERNOR UZODINMA is the recent traffic upgrade in the state, street to street Nunction Improvement, the connecting BALLOON DRAINAGE ongoing within Egbu area, restoration of peace in the state, massive road projects scattered in the three zones of the state, installation of solar street lights along the major roads in the municipality, workers welfare and recovery of looted funds and state properties from previous Governments. Meanwhile, Uzodinma has attracted a lot more love for himself and the state at large by attracting foreign investors to invest in Imo State, the Eastern Heartland. We report that no doubt, the Shoe INDUSTRY located along Orlu road will soon commence its full operation while Improvement of state security outfit is on course to restore decency, the safety of properties and good life in the state. It is no longer a rumour that the OPPOSITION political party Stakeholders have seen the free mindedness and sincerity of GOVERNOR UZODINMA to have invited the 27 local government areas in turns to restore peace and security in the state. Furthermore, the discussions with the OPPOSITIONISTS across political parties in Imo State took another dimension when they showered more encomiums to the governor for his wonderful policy that captured the empowerment of Imo youths. They however requested for the sustenance of these kind gestures of the Imo Government under Uzodinma and prayed God to help Imo grow higher than we met it. When asked about the possibility of making Imo a model state, the PDP, APGA, AA and many other structural groups in attendance reiterated that the 3R policy of GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma can make Imo the envy of the South Eastern region if the governor can be able to give room for good ideas, constructive criticism and listen to the plights of the IMO people. They however called on GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma to employ better hands in all the departments of Government agencies to Improve Imo. In their words, ” Douglas and Mbaise road owerri are very important entrances to the state posed to smoke off all the traders and illegal motor parks along the road and provide parks and good markets where the traders can relocate their goods” They also suggested the need to fix bus stop shelters on the road to give public motor passengers a place to run for shelter while waiting for cabs. ” The payments of Imo workers and pensioners must not be fooled with a further delay while looking up to the Contractors to complete all road projects as at required time to make Ndi Imo enjoy the traffic light brought by Uzodinma. “Moreso, since we have nothing to speak against this administration, from the look of events and massive road projects going on in Imo state, Uzodinma has come to serve the state better than others. Let us join hands and support his golden steps to remodel Imo State”

He said, “The oil wells were hitherto ceded to Rivers State. The ugly situation affected the revenue base of the state as we were recorded as one of the lowest oil producing states in the country. EMEKA IHEDIOHA AND THE MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME A MAN OF THE PEOPLE ~ Onuigbo Chikezie The past few months have been the most challenging in the life of our nation at large, and the Southeast in particular. Tales of the dreaded Unknown Gun Men filled the heart with fear. But for some people, it was just another something to play politics with. Part of what fueled the political arguments at the time was the inability of men of power, across political lines in the state, to come out openly and condemn the mayhem that was going on. Chief among these is Chief Emeka Ihedioha, the Supreme Court-sacked Governor of Imo state. His followers were all over the media space showing tacit support for the carnage that was going on, simply because it made the State ungovernable in their thinking. But what his media army failed to realize was that those trying times provided an opportunity for the Mbaise-born politician to rise to the occasion and show us what leadership means. Instead of supporting the unrest through his silence, he would have come out openly to condemn the attacks on the properties of the state. Instead his followers were gloating. They were the first to share any bad news, all in the bid to portray the present government as incompetent and overwhelmed. What this shows is that Ihedioha is not really interested in the welfare of Imo state. His only concern is to have power. He is only interested in answering the Governor of Imo state. This brings to mind the Bible story of the two women who were arguing about the maternity of a baby. When the case was brought to King Solomon, he instructed, in his God-given wisdom, that the baby be split in two, so that the women will have a piece of it. While the impostor claiming ownership of the baby urged him on to split the baby, the real mother couldn't bear to see that. She instead asked that the baby be kept alive, even if the other woman would have it. Because she cares about the life of the baby, as the real mother. In the end, that was all Solomon needed to find out the real mother of the baby. In the past few days, a press release went viral online of Ihedioha commending Buhari over the rearrest of Nnamdi Kanu. Whether the press release is true or not is out of the question. What is rather amazing is the sheer amount of effort the Ihedioha camp has put into trying to debunk the release. Why? But when the state was burning they were clapping. Does that not say something about the complicity of Ihedioha in the challenges of the past couple of months? Is it possible that Emeka Ihedioha is an unknown gunman? If Ihedioha cares about the good of Imo state like his media hordes will have us believe, why did he keep quiet all these while, only to go into overdrive because his credibility and sincerity is now at stake? While we may never have the answers to these questions, one thing is certain: Omemma mere onwe ya. He who does good, does it for himself, because what goes around comes around. Onuigbo Chikezie writes from Owerri.

THE UNFORTUNATE BETRAYAL OF NNAMDI KANU BY EMEKA IHEDIOHA Imo PDP falls out with Emeka Ihedioha over U-turn on Nnamdi Kanu's re-arrest. There has been a spaculation that all may not be well in Imo PDP from an insider who confirmed that the party is in disagreement with the Former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representative after making a Press Release Commending the Federal Government for the arrest of the Great Igbo Group Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and speaking further through the Former Chief Press Secretary to Emeka Ihedioha, he advised Federal Government to continue to ensure Peace is restored in totality to South East through the execution of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra who created nuisance from a far and in a way to making others who might surface with the Biafra agitation to be mindful of punishment. From the other news was a Contradiction Statement to the Press Release signed by Chibuike Onyeukwu was made on the Facebook Handle of the Former Special Adviser on Media to Emeka Ihedioha during his short stay as Governor of the State and this is what Aic Akwarandu (Former SA to Emeka Ihedioha on New Media and a Strong Loyalist of PDP) has to say on the Press Release which emanated from his former Boss " No matter your prejudice, no real Igbo man will celebrate the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu" Aic Akwarandu chide his Former benefactor as a nonIgbo man. This is incongruity to the stand of Emeka ihedioha who commended the federal Government for the restoration of Peace to Southeast through the rearrest of Our Supreme Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Stay glued as we get you more information as it unfold.

ADDRESS BY GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA ON THE OCCASION OF THE EMPOWERMENT OF 15,000 IMO YOUTHS ON SATURDAY, JUNE 26, 2021 AT DAN ANYIAM STADIUM, OWERRI My beloved Youths of Imo State, today is significant not only in your lives but that of this administration and Imo State. Today, we are taking a practical step in the actualization of our prosperity agenda. Our Shared Prosperity Programme is not just a mantra but a manifestation of our resolve to empower Imo People, particularly the youths, not only economically but also politically. By today’s event, we are making the statement as loudly as possible that when we talk of the youths being the future leaders of tomorrow, we mean every word of it. The only guarantee that the youths of today can truly be the leaders of tomorrow is by ensuring that such youths are empowered today so that tomorrow they can be economically strong to assert themselves as leaders. How can the youths be the future when they are not sure of today? Because we understand clearly that our future as a nation and as a state, lies in the quality of youths we have today, we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that we secure the future for our youths by providing for their today. When I created the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, I was mindful of the fact that Government alone cannot provide direct employment to all employable adults. I was also mindful of the fact that the sure way of driving our small and medium scale enterprises is to equip our Youths with relevant skills that will make them employers of labour instead of job seekers. It was with this in mind that I approved the training of Imo Youths in various aspects of vocations. My goal was to encourage them to unleash their potentials with a view to making a sustainable living without recourse to crime. I am happy that a record 15,000 of you are here as successful graduates of that scheme. Let me say it here that I am very proud of you. It is not easy to be patient to learn a craft in this present materialistic society that expects you to....BLOW IMMEDIATELY or ‘to arrive’ without sweat. The fact that you resisted the peer pressure and unrealistic expectations from the society to complete the training means that you will go far. Congratulations. I am sure that in the course of your training, some people might have tried to discourage you, saying that you won't have the capital to set up your vocations after the exercise. This government doesn't believe in promise and fail. As you are leaving here at the end of this ceremony, you will be receiving an alert of N250, 000 each. With 15,000 of you, the government is investing close to N4B to secure your future. That is a bold statement on how important you are to this administration. It is a practical demonstration of the fact that indeed, you are the future of Imo State. That is the least we can do for a generation of Youths that are determined to succeed. To those who are determined to succeed, this amount is more than sufficient. To those who have prepared to fail, this amount maybe meagre. But remember the Holy Book in Micah has admonished us not to despise the small beginning. What is more, ninety-nine percent of successful businessmen across the globe started small. How great a joy it would be for me that this seed money will give birth to millionaires among 15,000 of you. My beloved Imo Youths, I will like you to take note of the fact that this is the first time in the history of our dear state that this record number of Youths are being empowered at the same time. It is deliberate. It is also going to be sustained. As you set up your businesses of barbing salons, hairdressing, painting and spraying, furniture making and sundry vocations, you will create opportunity for your colleagues for down-stream employment. This implies that the multiplier effect will have a salutary bearing on our economy. You have often heard it said that an idle mind is the devil's workshop. Keeping you busy will save you from temptation. Sociology experts believe that there is a correlation between unemployment and crime. So our goal is to get you employed and keep you away from crime. Do not disappoint yourself and the government. You must take this endeavour serious. I will like to leave it on record that this empowerment programme is only but a part of a larger holistic agenda of massive empowerment of Imo Youths in all sectors. As we empower 15,000 youths today in different trades, we are also creating a conducive environment for your brothers and sisters who are desirous of furthering their education. We are investing heavily in Education from primary to tertiary levels. We may not have all the money, but we are determined to ensure that our youths are well provided for today, to enable them face the future with confidence. Of what value are our youths today, who have neither skill nor education? How can such youths take up the challenges of leadership tomorrow? What shall we say we have bequeathed to the future generation if what we pass on to them are youths with neither skills nor education? These are the questions that agitate our minds as a government and that explains why we are relentlessly attacking youth empowerment from all fronts. My beloved Imo Youths, I want to make it very clear that my administration places very high premium on you. The fact that youths are important factors in the overall wellbeing of our dear state can never be over stated. Youths are the engine room of any society. They are the bolts and nuts of a productive economy. They constitute over 60% of the active workforce of most societies. However, because the youthful age is always bubbling with energy, they can be deployed to use for things that can be good, bad or even ugly. This is where caution is needed. It will therefore not be out of place to say that youths constitute the majority of the Criminal population in our society. From the arrests so far made, following the recent security breaches in the state, most of the suspects are youths. What this means is that if all the youths are gainfully engaged, criminality will be drastically reduced in the state. Be this as it may, what is self evident is that as youths, you have a great role to play in the fight against crime in our state, I believe that if all of you, as youths, resole to commit yourselves to a crime free, peaceful Imo State, and you take proactive steps to achieve same, crime will significantly reduce in the state and peace will reign. Let me therefore use this auspicious occasion to remind you that to whom much is given, much is expected. As we have taken this practical step to empower you, let me enjoin you therefore to resolve that from today, you shall all become ambassadors of peace for a crime free Imo State. As you go from here to begin your respective businesses or to improve on the ones you are already into, remember to always make yourself available to talk to your fellow youths to shun crime and violence, and to embrace peace. In furtherance of this, I am delighted to inform you that as part of my government’s determination to engage our youths more proactively and make them more relevant, I will institute a forum for your yearly regular interaction in such a manner that you can cross fertilize ideas and build friendships that will help you in the task of leading Imo tomorrow. In this respect, I will also take necessary steps to encourage you to take up the role of playing advocacy for peace for a crime free Imo state. I am therefore delighted to dedicate the last Saturday in June every year as Imo Youth Day. This will be especially reserved for the celebration of our youths. In this regard, Youths from different youth organizations across the state, shall gather on that date, every year to celebrate themselves. Part of the celebration shall be to select a Youth Peace Ambassador of the Year, who shall be the symbol of Imo Youths for peace for that year. The ministry of Youths and Sports Development will work out the details of this programme in liaison with all the registered youth organisations in the state. In addition, the platform shall also be a veritable forum for youths to make their voices heard in the governance of the state. I can't end this address without an appeal to my beloved youths of Imo State to shun all forms of violence. Please refrain from being willing tools in the hands of desperate and disgruntled elements who don't mean well for our state. Your lives matter to me. Your future matters to the government and your parents. Don't allow mercenaries and buccaneers destroy your future with pittance. If you work hard, you will make it. I see future Presidents, Governors, and Senators in your midst. I see very successful entrepreneurs among you. I see a great future for Imo youths. My responsibility as you Governor is to create the enabling environment that can help you get to that great future. Your own duty is to play by the rules of positive engagement, and you will get there. Do not let anyone spoil your chances of getting to that great, glorious future. Thank you all. God bless Imo youths God bless Imo State God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Sen. Hope Uzodimma Governor, Imo State #HopeNewAndElectronicMediaCenter #ImoYouthsEmpowerment2021

MADUMERE EXPRESSES WORRIES OVER SECURITY CHALLENGES IMO, WARNS AGAINST CONSEQUENCES The former Deputy Governor of Imo State Prince Eze Madumere has expressed worries over ceaseless wanton killings in the State, warning against its future hurting consequences. Madumere regretted the assassination of All Progressives Congress chieftain, Alh. Ahmed Gulak on Imo soil describing the unfortunate incident as inhuman. He called on the security agencies to do all within their powers to smoke out those who pulled the strings. His words: I must commend Imo Police Command led by CP Abutu Yaro for their swift action in getting back at late Gulak’s assailants; I urge that they go further as directed by the Governor to unveil those behind the dastardly acts.” Madumere who just returned from the United States where he had travelled for an education programme bitterly cried out over the killing of Imo youngsters, especially the students who were unjustly murdered by the security personnel, calling on the security top echelon to ask questions why such innocent future leaders should be killed in such manner. While condemning the incessant attacks on security formations and other government facilities, he condemned the brutal killing of Imo Youths who were never found culpable for any crimes. “I feel for the governor over the challenges he is passing through managing litany of both security and welfare of Imo people, I am worried that Imo State University school authority could not intervene to communicate to the security agencies for the protection of these young ones. “I learnt of mothers, fathers, bread winners and other innocent persons who were cut down by alleged stray bullets. My thoughts are with their families. “I have also heard about the affected families of MBAIKE, my thoughts are with them. I learnt of other innocent persons who were innocently arrested in the course of investigation and mistakenly paraded to the whole world as suspected criminal elements, I ask them to take it in good faith in so far as their lives are intact. “The people have vouched for you and they have taken time to exonerate most of you of any crime. I thank Imo based Journalists for having risen to the occasion. “We must join hands to bring this state of anarchy to an end. The Nigerian Police is not finding it easy with their operational bases being razed. “I must encourage them never to be provoked into operating outside their code of conducts because whatever happens, security is to preserve lives and not desecrate it. I suggest that our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma work with the Police leadership as a matter of importance to look into what transpired in Ogbo-Osisi to unravel what must have warranted reported unguided and uncontrollable use of force against innocent traders. “It’s time we stakeholders came together to find a way around our challenges. Time of fence sitting is over or else we all shall be doomed. “We must close ranks and rally round our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma to resolve and solve our immediate problems before going out jaw-jaw with other emissaries. “Imo is our God given state it shall not spoil in own hands.”
