Foreign Affairs / Zimbabwean Opposition Leader Morgan Tsvangarai Dies From Cancer by Nnazzy52(m): 2:46am On Feb 15, 2018
- The death was made public by a party official who described the deceased as an icon and fighter for democracy

- Mr Tsvangarai was 65-years-old at the time of his death

The veteran Zimbabwean opposition leader who fought the regime of former President Robert Mugabe for many years, Morgan Tsvangirai, has died.

According to Punch, Tsvangirai died on Wednesday, February 14, at the age of 65, after battling against cancer.

Punch gathers that the development was made public by Elias Mudzuri, one of the vice-presidents of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party.

Mudzuri stated: “It is sad for me to announce that we have lost our icon and fighter for democracy.”

Another senior party member also reportedly confirmed the sad development on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, punch previously reported that there was serious excitement in Zimbabwe as Emmerson Mnangagwa, the sacked vice president under ousted Robert Mugabe, became the country’s new leader.

The sack of Mnangagwa had resulted in a wide-spread anger in the country which caused a military take-over and the subsequent removal of Robert Mugabe after 37 years in power. Throughout the period the military held the country down, Mnangagwa went into hiding.

TV/Movies / #bbnaija: Nigerians Identify Areas Of Concern On The Show (must SEE) by Nnazzy52(m): 2:15pm On Feb 08, 2018
ome Nigerians have identified areas the organizers of the ongoing Big Brother Naija, BBN, reality TV show are not doing well.
The third season of the show tagged “Double Wahala,” commenced some weeks ago with 20 contestants competing for a N45 million prize and a brand new SUV.
Some of the viewers of the programme told the News Agency of Nigeria that the show was “an insult to their intelligence as it promotes immorality among contestants.”
They condemned how the housemates were kissing each other as if they had been legitimately married.
Mrs Olabisi Afolabi, a mother of two teenagers said, “BBNaija becomes addictive when one indulges in watching it. “I always engage my children in productive activities while the show is on.
“My children are under eighteen. They should not be exposed to anything that is pornographic in nature.”
For Abimbola Coker, BBNaija shows should be censored by government approved regulatory agencies to remove all obscene portions before transmitting it for public consumption.
“Obscenity and nudity become rampant in the show and such should not be encouraged in our society.”
According to Samson Ogunsunlade, “BBN has shaped the perspectives of youths to glamorize or embrace unethical and immoral scenes as if it is a convention.
“It is an avenue to make fast money without meritorious cause and a perverse drama costumed with the facade called ‘entertainment,” he said.
Also, some viewers said that the organisers of the show should improve on its organisation to make it more educative because many teenagers were watching either legally or illegally.

Health / Five Benefit Of Scorpion Venom by Nnazzy52(m): 9:45pm On Jan 30, 2018
- Scorpion venom is used in a number of medical fields, including cancer research. Scientists see the natural compounds found in scorpion venom can be used as a painkiller. In addition, scorpion venom can also help prevent the rejection of transplanted organs.

As quoted from Wired, Monday (7/3), there are five health benefits of scorpion venom discovered by researchers:

1. Pain Relief Remedy

Researchers have investigated the natural compounds found in scorpion venom as a painkiller. A study published in 2013 found that scorpion venom actively acts as a painkiller. The hope, the findings could ultimately lead to the development of new drugs for humans.

2. Illuminate Cancer Cells

A painful scorpion poison can also be used to help treat cancer in the future. Researchers from Kaker Research Center Fred Hutchinson, University of Washington and startup Blaze Biscience have developed a "tumor paint" that uses fluorescent molecules that stick to natural toxins such as scorpion venom. It attaches itself to cancer, effectively illuminating cancer cells.

This method undergoes clinical trials and allows the doctor to determine the exact location and growth rate of cancer in the body.

3. Help Prevent Organ Rejection

Scorpion venom or its synthesized version, also has potential for use in immunosuppressant drugs. These medicines are used to reduce the body that rejects the transplant organ. Immunosuppressants often cause severe side effects for patients so developing a new type may be beneficial.

4. Treating Arthritis

Research shows that scorpion venom can block bone loss, making it a beneficial substance to treat conditions such as rheumatic diseases or rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. In 2011, a 71-year-old Cuban man claimed he could overcome his pain by letting the scorpion sting him at least once a month.

5. Preventing Malaria

Scorpion venom is also an unlikely ally in the fight against malaria. In 2011, a researcher from the University of Maryland modified a parasitic fungus loaded with a substance found in scorpion venom to attack the malaria parasite found in mosquitoes.

Food / How 8 Plantains And 6 Eggs Almost Led To The Death Of This Beautiful Nigerian La by Nnazzy52(m): 8:06am On Jan 28, 2018
A Nigerian lady, who uses the Twitter handle, @Stephanieodili has taken the platform to identify herself as a foodie and narrated how she almost died due to too much food.

She further disclosed that the incident led her into believing that someone else lives in her.

See her tweet below:-

All my friends know me as a foodie. In fact, i can do anything for food. I just don’t eat a lot, i eat in extra large portions. But today, I am convinced that someone else lives inside of me. What happened this morning almost killed me. I almost died. A thread.

So my mum had been complaining that no one was eating the plantain she bought as well as eggs and she wont buy again. So i decided to bone face this morning and fry some plantain and egg. I even thought of @ogeogwe and @Mz_Tomiiee then i remembered the latter was fasting.

Finally i fried 8 plantains and 6 eggs so that both of us can have enough to eat. I was happy with myself. I even added two galas and malt to my meal. Only for me to get to work and realise that @ogeogwe wasnt coming in today. Here i was with a cooler filled with plantain and egg.

I am like, abeggi its not that big. So i started eating this food all by myself hoping that at some point common sense and fear of God will stop me. But not Chizoba Odili. I continued eating and eating. Until something stopped me. It was neither common sense nor the fear of God.

I saw that my hands were slow and my eyes didnt seem to see the cooler again. In essence, i was losing consciousness. Fainting was catching me and my hands and legs and mouth had become numb. My stomach looked like Beyonce’s in her 3rd trimester. I was falling off the chair.

I just calmly told God that of all the ways to die it cannot be like this. For food! In the office! On top 8 plantains and 6 eggs!! I prayed softly until the Holy Spirit adjusted me on the chair and i was beginning to place my focus where it needed to be.

Then the devil struck again and said ‘There is no need to remain like these pieces of plantain, kuku finish it with the egg’ I listened and started eating again, Then one man entered and asked me if i was okay because the orange top i wore had started blending with my face.

I smiled my last smile and just rested my head on the table.

Its been an hour now and I have come back to life. This morning was a typical example of ‘na enjoyment kill am’. Please pleae and please dont come near me with dodo and egg again. EVER! The other person that lives in my stomach that finished all that food, i have no words for you

All this seems very funny hours after but i kid you not. I felt myself passing away. I couldn’t breathe or move my body.

So many children on this board. I doubt you understand the degree of the conversation.
This is beyond hate. Your problem is that you want to join the conversation without comprehending the content.

The mods need to do a better job at not taking certain threads to front page based on first page comments.

This is a very good move.

If this move is approved, how will we ensure that certain countries like Zimbabwe don't mismanage the currency again? What will these other African countries offer that will help strengthen and suistain the "African currency"

Brother biko zimbabwe is not in west africa.
