Wow....you really tried . I've never gone past a month .
Everyone can. It may be difficult at first but its achievable. Hence I advocate the little steps, start off with a challenge, Though this thread will focus more on people on the monthly challenge, you can always begin with as little as a 5 day challenge and take it from there. Make an effort to stop by on this thread as often as you can (daily is suggested) to note the new achieved streak and let's motivate each other.

Dammytrager:
Went 8 days of no fap and relapsed.
Went for another 15 days before relapsing
Now on day 1. Going minimum of 30 days now. cool

What I noticed in my no fap days.

Before I started no fap, I was always lacking motivation to do anything, when I wake up, I am not encouraged to even stand up from bed. No motivation to clean my room, cook or even work.
I force myself to work everyday and my relation with my co workers is bad as I always feel weird and hardly able to hold any conversation with girls around me. Then I always had a brain fog, always difficult to concentrate on something or even assimilate.

During my 15days before relapsing, around day 10 I realized I was becoming more jovial in the office, I found little things funny, my conversation started going well among the coworkers especially with the females. I do a light work out every day (I would never have done this during my fapping days). My focus increased and I enjoy little things.

The little benefits I experienced are pushing me for more.

Thanks for sharing. I hope many others will share theirs too. I'lld like to add you to the September challenge

So I'll kick off with the introduction

0 Day Free

My name is NoFapNairaland, if you read the opening posts you'lld have seen where I said my struggle with masturbation started following my introduction to pornographic materials when I was in SS2.(There's so much pornographic materials among secondary school students today) Since then it's been a struggle. I could go weeks without it and sometimes months but I just always found my self back doing it.
It's so funny how no one would ever suspect that illd be struggling with something like this. I'm one of those students you can describe as stellar plus I'm one of those Christians who still find time to attend church and volunteer in the church hence it's been difficult having this conversation with anyone.
It struck me last year when I discovered how long I had been involved in this act and I was further frightened when it seemed there was no end in sight. It took me awhile to recognize this was an addiction as I see es to have it under some form of control. I decided to stop this because among other reasons which I'll share the peace of mind that comes with those abstinence period is what I'll love to experience daily. The secrets, the hidden tabs, hidden videos, closing your tabs hurriedly when someone asks for your phone, deleting your histories, staying alone in the room and ditching gatherings just to carry out this act, carrying out these acts while hoping you're not caught. The list is endless. I went my longest streak last year from July 2019 to December 2020 and I must confess I've never felt happier. There was so much peace of mind, I had the time to better my self, focused enough to embrace some opportunities and I would love to live that every day of my life.

I'll like to read your story as well

Even though I am a Christian and I know how religious we are most times and how we often try to look at masturbation and pornography via a religious lens, this thread however will not be a religious thread. So everyone irrespective of their religion is welcome.

I see the testimonies the thread will birth in future becoming one that will inspire many to come.

I'll appreciate suggestions as well on how the thread can better function but here's a few things I'll be needing from us now

1. We'll all need to register new accounts on nairaland- This is because we all recognize how sensitive this particular struggle is, we may need to share very personal information here concerning our struggle. A new account will reduce the pressure with living up to your reputation on nairaland which for some may lead to constant relapses while they are forced to come online and be hypocritical about their journey

2. Although the plan is to take it one month at a time, We hopefully will have yearly No masturbation challenges. Although we are already half wag through September we will be starting with this month

3. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to attach a tracker to our posts(someone may have a solution to this). The main of the tracker is to ensure when ever we posts, the number of days we have abstained appears beside our names. There may be better solutions to this but for now I'll suggest we begin our posts with a bracket that contains in capital letters how long our abstinence from masturbation has been followed by a space before we comment

Good evening

If you struggle with masturbation and pornography this thread is for you
I'm an adolescent in my mid twenties and like most teenagers, I got introduced to pornography while in secondary school and I have since battled an addiction to pornography and masturbation

I have been on nairaland for a while and I can't remember any month going by without a thread on the front page with someone calling for help to deal with masturbation.

I got introduced to an online international forum sometime last year where people with addiction to pornography and masturbation seek help and it's been amazing seeing people succeed on this journey with help from one another

Unfortunately right now, I've relapsed but with the help I got I was able to go on my longest streak ever which was 6months. I'm confident that with some of the tips we'll be sharing on this thread we all will begin our journey to stopping this act.
