ivolt: ALL OF THE ABOVE AND YOU SAID NOTHING.. TINUBUS URCHINS WILL SAY THE SKY IS GREEN IF HE SAID SO.. Re South Korea thanks for parroting what I already said.. Re Niger, yes they are doing something different. They are now selling Uranium at market rates as opposed to the price the French set for them, a 200% difference in some cases. Hence the uptick in growth rates.. Also you don't need to do anything particularly different to increase growth rates in some cases. Look at Saudi it has been flogging oil for years and has become very rich as a result. Ditto Qatar which got rich selling LNG.. Botswana has a higher GDP per capita than Nigeria again selling primary goods.. Re GDP per capita, you have poor reading skills. I mentioned gdp per capita figures when comparing S Korea vs Nigeria/Ghana at independence lol.. Try again.... THERE ONCE WAS A COUNTRY |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Niger, Mali And Burkina Faso Withdraw From ECOWAS by nograv: 9:43pm On Jan 29 |
ivolt: Indeed they are starting from a low base, but the question is why did this change occur? The catalyst was extricating the last vestiges of French rule, something you clearly don't wish to acknowledge. Also your pointless explanation makes little sense, because yesterday's laggards can become tomorrow's champions. E.G. South Korea had a much lower GDP per capita compared to Ghana and Nigeria at independence. Where is South Korea today, it is in effect a developed nation, Nigeria and Ghana? we both know where they are.. Likewise Today's champion can be tomorrow's loser.Like Argentina which had a larger economy than France at the beginning of the 20th century and now is the byword for economic failure/decline. Tinubu could have ridden the crest of wave, joining arms with neighbouring countries that were freeing themselves and experiencing vast economic gains as a result. Instead the Agbero did what an Agbero does and slavishly followed marching orders given to him by the west.. Now I have educated you go and rethink the nonsense you just posted.. |

Paraman: https://www.semafor.com/article/01/10/2024/world-banks-says-africa-leads-fast-growth-economies-in-2024 Please see here, Niger will record the fastest growth in Africa this year 2024 at 12.8% (World Bank) We all know what led to this change, as historically it has always been an economic laggard on the African continent. Tinubu sadly chose to be on the wrong side of history.. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Niger, Mali And Burkina Faso Withdraw From ECOWAS by nograv: 8:37am On Jan 29 |
Paraman: All three nations are in the process of throwing off the last vestiges of French rule. Niger for example has rocketed to being one of the fasting growing economies in the world this year. This change in economic activity spills over into neighbouring nations via trade. Economic blocs like Ecowas were founded to spread these benefits. Instead due to Tinubu slavishly following the foreign policy agenda of the French, attempting to prop up their pro French puppets he alienated these newly freed nations. It was a silly mistake and shows he isn't very clever politically. Also history will not look kindly on his actions.. |

It is that Nigeria till today has never had a leader with vision and a strong moral compass.. Tinubu is a thief we all know that.. Even Obi wasn't clean either, but the better of two evils.. Nigeria is a failure because meritocracy isn't the order of the day.. 1 Like |

meum: That is also why Nigeria will never work for the common person and will probably remain a failing nation well into the future. You laugh as Inflation rises ever higher, growth remains anemic, the value of the Naira collapses and an old man with no political policies whose only interest is to line his own pockets leads you... Nigerian deference to wealth and power no matter what lurks in the heart of the man is something to behold. Karnice600: More strawman arguments and ad hominems.. You raised Entebbe, I explained why Ugandans reacted the way they did to Israelis. Giving you historical context all the way back to Gurion Especially Idi Amin who explained his raison d'etre clearly. I asked you for equivalent examples for Abacha, clearly you don't have any convincing examples.. Oya just say on this specific point you are wrong or weren't as well versed in the subject matter as you thought mtchewww.. All this, because you can't concede and say I got it WRONG.. My people stronghead till the end.. It is a good trait in the main as it is what sets us apart from others. But at times like this, it is a glaring character flaw. I am done here, have a good day.. |

Racoon: While I don't like military juntas, have you heard what these leaders are actually saying? I recall Burkina Fasos leader asking why Africa was the poorest continent when we have the most resources? He said plainly this we don't understand and must change.. Right or wrong, they are overthrowing western puppets masquerading as leaders.. The BAT has shown his true colours in taking up sanctions against them. These men could be the next Josef Sankara or perhaps Mobutu. But who knows, time will tell? |

Look just say you got it wrong, instead of moving the goal posts and chatting more rubbish.. This is what I mean about us Nigerians, can't admit when we get something wrong. It's annoying.. I respond in seconds you take all day googling, looking up some useless counter argument.. I swear Nigerians and talk talk... Chai.. You and Mr Japa aren't worth my time.. Jus Sharap.. |
