It was gathered that the incident occurred in Meru County, where the robber climbed to the top of a street light to escape beating.
An eyewitness known on Twitter as @KIFARUreloaded claims the thief stayed on the pole for two days as a crowd gathered and waited for him to come down.

He shared a photo showing the man lying comfortable while surrounded by a group of people patiently waiting..

All my life before the advent of boko haram, I had always known that Nigeria did not have any security apparatus.

What we have is a gra gra apparatus.

Anyone non-Nigerian who is wanted can easily enter Nigeria and live comfortably in this country for the rest of his/her life without being discovered.

We simply do not have the processes/resources/personnel to secure our country.

Are our international borders well policed?
Are our forest areas mapped and secured?
Do our police stations now have computer records for their daily operations that is synchronised to a national server?
Do our police have access to police controlled DNA and autopsy services?
Do we now have a fingerprint database?
Do we have CCTVs installed in public spaces and on major roads?
Do we have a facial recognition system?
Are our intelligence services alive to their duties and reporting all they see and hear in the different communities, public/private and illegal organisations they are embedded?
What is the compensation structure for our security services and what family support is provided in the event of death while on active duty?


Until we can re-jig the above, the best we will get is the typical "while commiting the crime, a combined team of security personnel stormed the scene, the gunmen were dislodged and given a hot pursuit as they escaped with varying degree of injuries"

Hot pursuit will remain our greatest security achievement. No pre-emptive or captive.

You make a valid point, but I realised most of what you have described is beyond the understanding/ability of the current political elites.

They either don't understand such technology and institutional setups, which is the case for someone like Buhari who I think has a very low IQ probably below 100.

Even if they do, they probably don't care to change the status quo as it is favorable to them financially. Even if they fall into the last camp (true reformers, of which I dont think there are many), the presence of so many corrupt politicians makes genuine reform impossible.

Anyone voting for politicians from APC or PDP and a politician older than 40 is a fool..

He had failed good three times Nigerians gave him chance. As military ruler, first term as a democratic president and second term almost coming to an end.
When you add everything together is close to 16 years of PDP, APC always talk about.
Buhari is incompetent and bad luck president.
