zeanslim:You will create a publisher account with Google. It cost 25 dollars a year. After the you can upload your app in your admin section of your account. You can also register for Google Admob if you want to display advertisement on your apps. |
DONOCHAS:There are many android IDEs you can download from Google Play that you can use to develop android apps |
dam007:Please contact me through my website http://inducesmile.com/ |
sukkot:Bro, I studied android development and I did not wait for government or any body to create job for me. I do it as a hobby. Now I have almost 400,000 downloads in Google Play and I earn almost 200,000 Naira per month without even touching my apps. I am doing this so that others who are interested can learn and even become better than I am Keep wait for somebody to create job for you in Nigeria. Best of luck |
zeanslim:Yes, you can use your android phone. This is the link for all my android apps in Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=ToscanyTech&hl=en |
I did not get the email or may be it went to my spam box. I have many spam emails a day so I don't always check it. Please can you paste the question here. Are you trying to embed a flash movie file in android webview? |
ajibigad:There is alway an exception but I am talking in general Making one game that is successful is not really a business in mobile app development. As time goes on, the app will lose its ranking in the store and the download rate will reduce couple with profit hugely. Big mobile app and game companies retain/maintain their position through aggressive advertising and buying downloads which indie developers can't afford to compete with. My point is consistence in innovation and success with many apps and games not just being lucky with one app. This is where big companies matter - money, expertise, experience. If you know app store business very well you will know that even crappy apps can rank high and become popular The westerners we talk about, when they see something that is not work perfectly they will find a way to improve it but in Nigeria it is about talking and finding fault without solution. Talk is cheap I am expecting someone to say I built this app or game because it is better than what is in existence in Nigeria |
GodMode:Easy said than done |
It is very easy for people to compare different things without proper analysis. 1. Most people that come here and advertise or publish their apps in Nairaland are mostly indie app and game developers (mostly one and two developers working on an idea) 2. If you are familiar with Google Play you will understand that most popular apps and games are developed by well established companies abroad Ask yourself why are their software products good and popular in Google Play 1. Some companies have more than 10 developers and designers work on a projects. 2. Most of these companies employ senior and expert app and game developers 3. Most of these companies are back by Venture Capitalist with millions of dollars to spend 4. In Google Play, these companies buy downloads through aggressive advertising that runs in millions of dollars For Fair comparison Ecommerce websites in Nigeria like Konga, Jumia and others that have huge financial muscle, are they not doing well? Until when we have many mobile app and game companies with experience developers and money then I can say it is a fair comparison. If not base your comparison on indie developers. |
Ezyp:Can you please try and paste the code here or use a link from pastebin. That will be helpful to others and other people can contribute |
llbhuds:I would have loved to help but I have limited time now and your deadline is within the week. If I finish what I am doing by tomorrow I will let you know. |
@op, I will suggest or advise you to wait and release your own app(s) before starting this thread. You have a long way to go in this career path. |
asalimpo:I don't know what people stand to gain in this kind of discussion - comparing programming languages and IDEs. 1. It is an open ended argument - Everybody comes and say what is good about his or her prefered tools and technologies 2. At the end of these thread everybody will still hold the same opinion as at the start of the thread 3. We all know that JAVA or C# cannot be doomed 4. Most programmers are at the mercy of the employers (Your employer decides most often the kind of tools or technology to use) 5. Each programming language has its strength and weakness Well, good luck to people who have learnt something new. Personally, I have not. |
This app has almost 1000 downloads already and with good rating 4.7. Attached is some screenshots The biology mobile app content is categorized into six groups 1. Biology Tutorials 2 Biology Formula 3. Practical Biology 4. Biology Theory Questions 5. Biology Terms and Dictionary 6. Biology Objective Questions (Quiz) https://toscanyacademy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/myadvert.jpg |
This is your assignment. You have to at least try and show that you have done something. You can get an idea from this code. I did not test it but hopefully it may work.
|
Religious Argument. |
I wrote the code to give you some insight about the problem. I did not test it since the game is part of a framework you are working on there is no way I can test the code independently |
henryobinna:Yes, I just saw it now. I have reply you. |
One solution is to get a random distant from where the actor is currently standing and this will be the starting location of the enemy. // the player should have a direction public enum PlayerDirection{ LEFT, RIGHT, UP, DOWN }; Example // get actors x and y location coordinates int xActorPosition = actorObject.getX(); int yActorPosition = actorObject.getY(); // create enemyObject MagneticObject asteroid = new MagneticObject("Asteroid", "pathToAsteroid", 64); // initial starting position of asteroid int yNewPosition = yActorPosition + initiationDistanceBetweenActorAndEnemy(); asteroid.setLocation(xActorPosition, yNewPosition); private int initiationDistanceBetweenActorAndEnemy(){ // example return an int within 50 and 100 return Game.getRandomNumber(50, 100); } Now to move the enemy toward the player int minDistance = 10; int maxDistance = 20; // get the distance between the player and enemy int dis = enemyDistanceToPlayer(); private int enemyDistanceToPlayer(){ } First get the direction of the Player or where the Player is facing or positioned in regard to the enemy private void moveEnemyTowardsPlayer(){ if(Player.getX() - Enemy.getY() <= maxDistance){ // the enemy or actor can fire bullet } PlayerDirection direction = PlayerDirection.LEFT; int enemySpeed = actor.getSpeed() + 3; switch (direction) { case LEFT: asteroid.setSpeed(enemySpeed); break; case RIGHT: asteroid.setSpeed(enemySpeed); break; case UP: asteroid.setSpeed(enemySpeed); break; case DOWN: asteroid.setSpeed(enemySpeed); break; } } I hope that this little idea will help you Best of luck |
Ezyp:I will finish it. I am writing more tutorial but for the meantime you can still ask any question you have |
asalimpo:Yes, you can |
elvis10ten:Ok, google app engine is good. One suggestion - you have to understand that photo sharing app is very challenging to maintain and it requires money if it becomes successful. App Engine might be free now but once you exceed your limit you will start paying. Plan for it and save up some money for the unexpected. Also, the real (huge) download comes from Google Play. Try as much as possible to get a publishers account. |
@elvis10ten thanks for the mention and I am glad that I have been of help. The app looks good considering it is your first app. Please don't rush and release this app because this post has made FP. Make sure you have finished with the little details and other suggestions before release so that you will not end up with negative comments and poor rating in Google Play Store. Although I haven't seen or used the app but my suggestion will be to use cloud back-end storage system that can scale for user upload images. Lastly, if you want to make money from it don't make it naija app rather universal app. Advertise it aggressive in naija so that you can get enough downloads that will help the app rank well in Google Play Store. Nice job and best of luck |
Dlastofmykind:Nice work but this is my personal suggestions 1. Your logo is pixelated 2. The blue color in "Read more" link does not look good. You can try another color that matches your selected colors 3. The alignment in "our service section" does not look perfect 4. You can also use a better social icons in the footer All the best |
Well, I think it is a queue system so you have to be patience until it gets to your turn. May be now is a peak period or Nairaland advert is getting more adverts it can handle. I believe once Seun sees this post he will explain better to you. Best of luck with your ad. |
siitnaira:This can't be true. Waiting for one month. I am planning to advertise but this is not encouraging. May be it is time they consider using other high visitors websites in Nigeria. What are you planning to advertise and do you have any information about Nairaland ad conversion rate? |
asalimpo:It all depend on the IT (Software startup) per se. The equity can be rewarding if there is initial capital to bootstrap the start-up until it starts making profit. In this situation, even if the business wants to partner with VC the negotiation will be fair and equity dilution will be less. I think the equity of a software startups in Nigeria with good and well implemented idea will be attractive |
I can see that your vacant advertisement is very clear on what kind of developer(s) you are looking for but I feel that you miss out on the employment package. From what I can see from posters above, it seems you need more of a business partner who has skills in your above mention technologies than an employee. Another option would have been to specified that the payment is little with the options of equity. One reason why experience developers in Nairaland does not reply to job adverts is mainly because people will come here and list all the things they need from developers without mentioning that they have limited budget for the project. Any serious developer knows how much time it takes to negotiate price of a software development in Nigeria. Most annoying thing is that during price negotiation you will start hearing statement like 1. I am a students so I have little savings for this project 2. I am hoping to get investment after then I can start paying you 3. I can give your some shares from the company since there is no money One thing is certain here the kind of advert determines to kind of developers that will apply. The more clearer the better. |
asalimpo:This is basically what is happening in Nigeria now. Nigerian population is around 200 million but you can count the number of large scale software that has been produce in Nigeria. It is a job for the future in Nigeria. One thing is that it is better to prepare now and wait for the future rather than waiting until it happens |
Believe me, when I did my 3 months internship in a large software company in Sweden, some software architects I met were in different world. Their experience, knowledge base and problem solving prowess are up there. From our discussions, some of them have designed different well known enterprise applications popular in the world now and they have had engagements as consultants in other companies. I know in Nigeria it might be different because most enterprise applications here were developed outside Nigeria so there is limited space or opportunity for people who want to build a career in SA in Nigeria |
asalimpo:I guess even if a software architect does not have a good programming skill he or she will have a strong background in information system. There is no direct course or education that leads to this career path rather I consider experience working with large systems more. The use of this word "software architect" can also be confusing sometimes i.e I have seen people that works in small web dev companies that use CMS and Framework for small to medium app and they call themselves software architect. In my own understanding I will prefer to call that dude that design distributed/parallel or large scale application a software architect. If this career path is your dream career path I will suggest that you should start looking for a job in a kind of company that help you grow and achieve this. |
Just like @mobolaji88 said you need a bit "googling". I hope the excerpt from wiki will be of help to you JavaFX is a software platform for creating and delivering rich internet applications (RIAs) that can run across a wide variety of devices. JavaFX is intended to replace Swing as the standard GUI library for Java SE, but both will be included for the foreseeable future. JavaFX 8 JavaFX is now part of the JRE/JDK for Java 8 and has the same numbering, i.e., JavaFX 8. JavaFX 8 adds several new features, including: - Support for 3D graphics[21][22] - Sensor Support - Printing and rich text support |
