Nff resolved to employ a Foreign Technical Adviser, it was a decision reached on the hybrid meeting held on 12th june, and main reason Finidi resigned.

https://thenff.com/communique-of-the-meeting-of-nff-executive-committee-held-in-hybrid-mode-on-wednesday-12th-june-2024/

Don't believe NPFL Journalist pushing for local coaches, they have agenda. Infact, NFF never wanted local coach from beginning. From a news channel, i read they are talking to Giovanni De Biasi.
It's obvious some vested interests are aggressively pushing the agenda of this local coach on Nigerian fans and are using the bogus line of the NFF being broke as justification.

The NFF made it unequivocally clear that they were going for a foreign technical adviser following our last match but we still have some journalists telling us the NFF is too broke to appoint one.

Let's face it, the idea that the NFF is broke is just a myth. The same NFF was going to renew Pasero's contract after the Afcon.

The same NFF openly declared that they preferred another foreign coach to replace Pasero before being rail roaded into appointing Finidi with the compelling reason that he has being with the team.

How much are they even going to pay a foreign coach that they can't afford? 50k -75k USD per month.

That comes to just between 600k and 900k USD P.A. and u sincerely believe the NFF cannot comfortably afford that?

Eberechi Eze has made a big mistake @komekn I don’t see him starting or coming in for any important game
He’d possibly start third group game for England and that’s probably it
Doesn't matter, he's still very young.

He can still be a core member of the team in the nearest future.

The problem started when they opened their doors for franchise players.

People who wanted to start restaurant business but don’t want to go through the effort of creating a new brand and growing customers .
Instead ; they apply, pay some recurring fees , be brand materials , recipes , menu and business starts with customers flooding in .

While this looked like massive chain growth , they couldn’t enforce the meals have the same quality and taste accords board . Franchise members started adding their stuff . Why not ! It’s their business .

Then once a customer have a bad experience at an outlet , they start looking for alternatives sub consciously and they’ll feel all outlets are bad .
The main reason is their major investor, UAC divested from the business and from then on they didn't have the financial strength to compete.

What happened to tantalizers too?

Anyone who thinks SA, Rwanda, and Benin won't drop points (or lose some matches out of the remaining six)... is even more delusional than those who think Nigeria do not have a 50/50 chances of going to the WC.
That is not the issue.

Yes,all the teams on 7 points now will still drop points, issue is, will the Eagles take advantage?

Tell me u believe the team u saw against Benin can go all out and win their remaining matches.

For the records, we have played Lesotho, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Benin, teams we are always comfortable playing against, and we are yet to record 1 victory.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Nomyth: 10:22am On Jun 14, 2024
Coaching is not really the problem of the Eagles. The team has been on a downward spiral from the last days of Rohr and no coach has seemed to get it right.

The previous coach had a score of 2/6 in WCQ while Finidi finished with 1/6.

I don't expect any miracles from the next coach as the team is very low in confidence.

Meanwhile...

If you want to sack Finidi, sack him now. We have a full round of AFCONQ for the rest of 2024 so if you want a new coach, get one now before AFCONQ start in September. Next round of CAF WCQ will be in March 2025. That should be at least 6-8 games the new coach would have with the team before next round of WCQ.

Right now we should just hope all our opponent matches end in draws. It will leave us 4pts off the top. In a bad situation but by no means is it finished
Well, the upcoming Afcon qualifiers might be what we need to get our world cup qualifiers up the scratch.

Let's forget about the world cup qualifiers for now and focus on the coming afcon qualifiers.

Winning our Afcon qualifiers will serve as a much needed shot in the arm for the team as it will boost their confidence and give them the belief that they can win again, something I feel is lacking at present.

Also, the Afcon qualifiers can be used to tweak the team to see what formulas and players work before the next WCQ in March next year.

Whilst in our earlier meetings with them in the 1990's and 2000's we routinely achieved success against Bafana Bafana, in those games they certainly did the playing...... unfortunately for them we did the scoring.

We were able to do this because the individual quality we possessed was enough to force a result our way irrespective of our relatively chaotic approach. This is actually why their support base always wanted to face us again and again. They could understandably feel their revenge was just around the corner. They couldn't and didn't really accept we were better the better team.....we were 'just winning'.

Fast forward to the last 10 years and Bafana has recognised and doubled down on their comparative and competitive advantage i.e. the sourcing of their players makes it super easy to maintain a team of players who though are not world beaters in their individual capacity but decent enough to compete.

In summary the quality differential of the PLAYERS from supposedly superior teams has become more and more insufficient in compensating for the gap team chemistry.

Although simplistic, this is the crux of the matter with this particular fixture for us. The technical analysis of the actual game will follow.
They have only beaten us once in a competitive match.

You really have a comprehension problem.. too much bitter leaf juice..

Anybody can tell that he is obviously talking about foreign born players who would consider playing for us as a last resort having been unable to get into the national team of their birth country... he isn't categorizing foreign born as second rate in comparison to Nigeria born players.
No need to sugar coat it, those foreign borns are second rate anybody that doesn't like that fact can go to hell.

Let's develop our youth system that is what has been working for us from the start instead of some players who see us as a fall back plan.

What's so special about these FBs if I may ask?

Of all the ones we've gotten, only Victor Moses was impactful and really worth it. Others have been just about average.

And of all that we have missed, only a handful went on to be world beaters .A whole lot of them hv been us dodging a huge bullet.

Reliance on FB is what is affecting Cameroon today, they have lost their identity as a team and no longer carry the fearsome reputation of time past because they've diluted the team with some overrated FBs.

We are not even out yet! If we beat Ghana we can still qualify, however I doubt this team is capable of beating Ghana. The attack and midfield has been a let down! The CBs are the only positive!
But is 8mit impossible for us to beat Cote D'Ivoire at u17 level ni?

They've been getting it over us for sometime now and it is troubling.

As explosive as that 2013 set was, Cote D'Ivoire beat them twice at the u17 AFCON.

We really need to reverse this.

oga this same scenerio happens in every league, even the NPFL, that's why I use UEFA competition as standard where you have clubs from different leagues play each other in a home and away format
It even happened in Germany this year. A team from the lower division made it to the semifinal of the FA cup beating a couple of Bundesliga teams, including bayern munich, along the way.

There's no doubt that JayJay was an incredibly talented player infact I would put him in my all time top 10 greatest Nigerian players but let's call a spade a spade and not just a farming implement. Okocha wasn't as efficient and effective as he could have been given his immense talents.

His propensity to hug the ball too long sometimes disrupted the SE attacking flow. Watch the USA 1994 games where he didn't play and compare to the Italy game. Even the 2000 AFCON watch the semifinal match against SA where he was suspended then compare to the other SE games in the tournament to get what I mean.
This is not true, on the contrary, we struggled in d match he did not play.

You mentioned the semi final against SA and forgot the opening match against Tunisia where he was unplayable.

Watch the AFCON 94 final against Zambia on YouTube, the Zambians ran riot in the midfield once okocha was removed. Even Pele who was in the stands said he stopped enjoying thatch the moment Okocha was substituted.

I doubt we would have won the semi finals against CIV in that AFCON if not for Okocha.

See below.

Boss, I strongly disagree with you on this.

Below is his highlights in that match and his performance was a good example of what a typical 10 was in those days.

It was in this match he created the record of the most dribbles completed in a World Cup match.

Westerhof wanted to hold on to 1 goal advantages by bringing in Adepoju and Oliha but forgotten Jay Jay was still on the field playing to gallery…the perfect subs should have been Siasia for Amokachi,Ikpeba for Amuneke and Adepoju for Okocha.

Rashidi Yekini was off against Italy
Okocha was not playing to the gallery in that match, he really held that midfield throughout the game. It was against Denmark in 98 he was playing to the gallery.

You forgot that in 1994 ,the number of subs in a match was 2.

PSG 's commitment is massive!
€90M already tabled!
They really want Osimhen..
This move to me is the best one for Osimhen, playing for a big club without much pressure. Plus he is quite familiar with the French league.

Moving to the EPL, especially for a huge amount, will constantly put him under the microscope. As good as Haaland is, he has come under heavy criticism of late.

Osimhen will not be spared by the English press and analyst if he moves to the EPL particularly with his penchant t for missing easy chances.
